Our server Abraham was polite, accommodating, and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Now for the star of the show: the food! The standout for me was definitely the Menudo. It reminded me of the kind my family in LA makes, with a hearty amount of meat and perfectly balanced flavors. My wife and I also loved the chilaquiles station, where you can customize your dish with various sauces and eggs cooked to your preference. To make it even better, you can top your chilaquiles with some of the barbacoa--an absolute game-changer! We also loved the ambiance of Kalaveras, with lots of artwork and great music playing. My husband and I came to meet our friends here for a date night on a Friday night. It was packed, but there were still a lot of tables & seats available. We got lucky & found a parking up front. Loud with music, and very fun atmosphere. Love that you can just go downstairs to Coin-op to play games. I was impressed with the drinks, especially the margaritas. So delicious & almost like candy. My favorite was the chamoyada. You can't taste the alcohol, but it was yummy & strong. My type of drink. lol. Food was surprisingly delicious too. Loved the chicharon taco & the Birria tacos. Great space for this new restaurant! The colors are beautiful! It has a nice open space inside for seating along with the bar. There is outside seating overlooking the street and it also has access to the bar from the outside which is really cool. They had a great happy hour. Monday through Friday 3 to 7 PM. It would be nice if they had the information written down to share. It didn't stop the happy hour though ha ha. I'm gonna have to make it back for the endless mimosas on Saturday and Sunday because it's such a great space and phenomenal customer service. They have an abundance of staff, that really make things seamless. They are a well oiled machine. The entire staff looks so happy, they were welcoming and friendly. Service was incredible with Jersey as our waitress. She made our experience wonderful, and one to remember. Jersey is an OG in the service industry and you can tell. She is a people person and loves what she does. She made it such a fun night. Came here on a Saturday at 3:30pm, I made reservations but didn't need to. We ordered the guacamole w/chips as an appetizer, I ordered the enchiladas verdes. My husband ordered the aguachiles, a taco de asada and taco de barbacoa. Waiter asked us if we wanted the guac to come out first and we said yes. However, the guac took nearly 20 mins to come out and our entrees came out about 2 mins after. Guac was ok. The barbacoa taco was dry. The enchiladas were served with beans and rice, overall Ok. We celebrated my mom's birthday on Sunday, and OMG the brunch was ridiculous. The food was horrible and looked unappealing. Small amounts of dried out food in large chafing dishes, with a film on top. Nothing was appealing or satisfying. I can't say anything positive about the food. I came here for happy hour on a Friday and was able to sit at the bar top. The view from the bar was amazing. Seeing the sun set over the mountains from the bar was beautiful. I had their La Klavera margarita and 3 soft tacos from the happy hour menu. Our drinks and food came quickly. I feel like the La Klavera is this version of a basic margarita, which is exactly what I was wanting so it hit the spot. I was surprised by the tacos. It was a decent amount of food for me and I feel that that price was reasonable. Overall a great happy hour experience and a nice ambience. Decided to give this place a shot for a Thursday lunch and had a so so experience. Location is a little weird but not out of the norm for a place on Old Town... the inside is super spacious and very decorative. Typically most sit down Mexican spots offer you chips and salsa... not here, which was surprising for the price you're paying We ordered a mixture of two asada tacos, one chicken, a carnitas and two chicharron tacos. The asada and carnitas were decent, the chicken was dry AF, and the chicharron was BOMB! They messed up one of our taco orders... literally took it back to the chef to "verify" it was wrong and then brought it back to us and said we could keep it and it was comped??
