Seriously, I don't know why this deli gets such high marks. Loved the vibe of the place, and its menu. Sometimes a great sandwich can make your day, but it didn't happen here. We both ordered the small French dip. We waited awhile for our food, as the eatery was definitely under staffed. A pervasive problem everywhere on the East Coast. Talk about major disappointment upon receiving our food. The bun was not only un toasted, it was COLD and HARD. There was nothing right about this sub. Too much bread, dry meat, and the ratio of ingredients was completely off balance. My daughter and I went to see the lights for Christmas but could not even cross the bridge it was so crowded and we were so hungry we found this little deli that was so authentic. We love going to the deli but today was our first time going for breakfast. We are blown away! I got the bacon, egg, and cheese. My husband got the pork roll, egg, and cheese. Nice use for a beach cottage on the main thoroughfare. Clean and upbeat. Not a lot of dining seating. Inside there are two comfy sofas with coffee tables, one barrel table with 4 stools, a bistro table, and window counter seating with stools. Outside 2 barrel tables with stools. In other words, if you have a place in mind to picnic then take out is probably best. Nobody was in line ahead of us when we walked in so our order was quickly taken. A hot pastrami and a hot datil rueben. A couple other orders were handed to guests already seated, and then ours were brought out to our table too. A good playlist kept most of us humming along and not focusing on the time. From order to table took about 35 minutes. (I got the times from my receipt and photos.) I didn't notice but would guess one could call in, or order online, and pick up on the way to a picnic location. The Datil Rueben was good. Rye bread had a nice crunchy toast to it. The datil thousand island dressing was spicy, but not too spicy for us, but there was so much of it that it overpowered the sauerkraut. And, I used about ten napkins to keep my hands and mouth sauce free. The hot pastrami was good, but greasy. Not sure if was the beef or maybe the butter it is grilled in, but it too needed many napkins to keep the hands and mouth clean.
