Love love love! My sis and I found this place through Yelp. We almost didn't go in because it's such a hole in the wall. But Yelp wouldn't lie so we had to try it. There was no one in there but once we sat down a bunch of people came in to pick up take out orders. Thank goodness we didn't turn around!! My favs are the Miami Vice and PA Shrimp. I also love me a good rainbow roll. Also a nice bonus is you can order ahead of time through Yelp. We usually order ahead & pick up our orders now. Was looking for some good tempura and found this place on yelp, was very glad we went there. Got the bento box and it did not disappoint! We love coming here! We try to come at least once every two weeks. The staff is friendly, efficient and has amazing hustle! The rolls are fantastic. Our fave is the Paradise for some great cucumber crunch, but all are fresh, delicious and expertly prepared. The atmosphere is very casual and fun. Not a sushi fan but for some reason today I wanted it for dinner. The one I really like is in Costa Mesa and I was too tired to drive. Right before I got on the freeway I was this place .I pulled over and went in. Not a disappointment. I had the krunch roll and it was delicious. So glad I found them, as this will be my new spot. I paid for my order and then asked for two sauces. The guy then says "that'll be fifty cents each"....SERIOUSLY??!?? I was in shock! I was a bit skeptical when going in, but I was starving and craving sushi like no other so I figured it would do. I was greeted at the door and every employee was extremely friendly, and I was so impressed. I ordered a special with 4 pieces of sushi and two spicy handrolls, and to be honest, the food wasn't that bad! Their salmon was surprisingly fresh, the tuna not so much but it wasn't awful. I've been here quite a few times. Sushi is always good but can sometimes be a bit of a wait even when they do not seem to be horribly busy.

Second time around about 5:50pm on a Thursday no one in dining area so I assumed it wouldn't take long to get dinner. I was WRONG it literally took 30 minutes before my food was served. Customer service was nice, but the sushi wasn't anything special. In fact, I had a difficult time with the Spicy Tuna Roll..all I could taste was spice (and trust me, I can handle spice). The Philadelphia Roll was acceptable, but cream cheese taste overwhelming. Rainbow Roll was pretty good, but I feel like the sushi wasn't totally fresh. If you call ahead, orders are always ready on time! Try the House Special Roll (seared albacore in garlice sauce on a spicy tuna/california roll), it will make you an addict (seriously). Great little "hole in the wall" place. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth the cost. Their Sunshine Roll (Salmon Sushi on California Roll) is also very tastey. I went into the restaurant tonight at 7 pm to order 1 roll. There were 2 people in the restaurant. I was told the wait would be 40 minutes! Why? Because they had so many call-in orders that the people walking in to eat at the restaurant had to wait or come back. So basically they were turning away walk-in customers. This place is predominantly to-go, we didn't know that until we arrived. We have driven out here thinking it was like an actual restaurant, but it has more of a Chinese take out feel to it. There's some tables available and you can eat there, and since we drove out of the way, we stayed and ate. I would recommend staying to eat, the presentation is well done here. The chef really has style and sure does know quality. We went with the Kai special tempura, salmon sushi, the SLUR, and Tiger Woods. The Kai special tempura is something unique and delicious! It's like bits of sweet potato, green beans and other veggies battered together with tempura. Yummy!! The fish was of good quality, and the rolls tasted like someone really put some love into making them because the flavors were good. I am highly likely to make the trip out here again to eat. I love this place! When I first came here I was looking for quick and easy sushi place that was reasonably priced. I just wanted something quick and didn't want to go to a restaurant and spend a bunch of money to satisfy my craving. So I tried Kai sushi, conveniently located down the street from my apartment! The sushi surpassed my expectations. It's actually really great! The staff is always friendly and the service is fantastic. I've always had a good experience and the sushi has always been up to par in my book. The quality is far beyond any random sushi spot on the corner or in a grocery store parking lot. If you're in the area or live near by and have never tried it I suggest you go in and order a couple rolls! I love the ninja roll! If you're up for it, get the sushi burrito! It's epic! read more
