We ate in the first time and it seemed like the orders were coming out a little slow until I realized there were a ton of to go orders! No wonder, this place is great! We got the spicy tuna hand rolls, the house special cut roll, shrimp tempura and a miso soup! All just perfect! Not a great place for date night and they don't serve alcohol or beer... but just a great causal place to grab dinner! Really like this place. Service is really nice and the sushi is great AND cheap! I'm vegan so I got the avocado roll and a vegetable tempura roll. The vegetable tempura roll isn't on the menu but they made it for me which was very accommodating. Boyfriend got the deep fried cali roll and veggie tempura roll. He loved it as well! My husband and I are sushi snobs who have spent lots of time in Japan and lots of time in America eating the best sushi we can afford and Kai sushi is up on the list of top 3. Worst service from the server ever the guy was rude never paid attention to anything waited forever for one food order. This is one of my husband's go to sushi places. He befriended the family that owns this place and got a roll named after him! They have some standard rolls that most people are familiar with. They do a sushi pizza that's a little different and tasty. We usually order rolls with a lot of fish. I like their sushi burrito that uses soy paper. Their plates are always decorated with cute designs and drawings using the sauce. They always provide great service and food and we are never disappointed. Absolutely fantastic! Kai Sushi is a delicious little place and their food's quality is always spot-on. I've been here two times and both times I've ordered the Miami Vice, which is a crunch roll w/ seared albacore on top. Both times it's tasted amazing! The wait is decent and the prices are about average. I've also tried the SLUR (stands for Salmon Lover's Ultimate Roll) which I've enjoyed as well. Service is friendly - in fact, upon my second time coming, the wait took a little while and the worker personally came to my group and apologized for the wait and offered us to take any drinks from the fridge as their treat. I was surprised to say the least! (Prior to this, we had gone to Shinsengumi for two days, and anyone who's been to that restaurant knows the waits aren't short but they're worth it. The wait here wasn't bad compared to that haha!) This place isn't very good for large groups because of the limited seating. It doesn't seem to be totally busy all the time, but it's safer to go with a party of 3-4. Parking hasn't been an issue for me, as there're usually a lot of open spots near the entrance. This is my favorite quick sushi spot! When I am in the mood to "go out" for sushi, there are other places I favor because Kai does not serve alcohol. And while I'm not a total lush or anything like that, I enjoy wine or sake with my sushi which Kai can't offer. BUT - their food is fantastic!! I eat here frequently, whether for a quick stop in or to take it to-go. Everything is delicious. My favorite is the Miami Vice roll and the seared albacore sushi. Truly though, I have never ordered anything that I didn't absolutely love. My husband doesn't eat sushi (because he is effing insane) but he likes their teriyaki bowls as much as I like everything else. Another great thing is that they have 24/7 (or I guess its 24/6, since they're closed on Sundays...) HAPPY HOUR, so everything is half-price. So for quality, convenience, and affordability, you can't beat this place. :) read more

My husband, having a very sensitive palate and high standards for sushi, ordered the 16-pc Sushi Plate for dinner. The plate was beautiful and was of the same quality comparable to that of a high-end Japanese sushi bar. I got the Tempura Udon which was absolutely delicious; the noodles were fat and chewy and came with plenty of broth which was definitely a plus. We also ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and the SLUR Roll to go for my teenage son at home, and he loved absolutely delicious food. The prices were decent and the service was fast. This place has good rolls and friendly staff. I'm not a huge fan of raw sushi but they have a decent selection of both rolls and other appetizers as well. When I walked in it wasn't busy and the lady at the counter quickly greeted me in a friendly tone. She was also very patient as I wasn't sure what to order and she even suggested some of her favorites. Finally I ordered the Pa Shrimp roll & the King Tiger roll. Since they don't serve alcohol, and I don't like soda with sushi, I got a canned unsweetened green tea (also recommended by the cashier). Even though I was the only one there, it took a little bit before my food came out. In fairness, the Pa shrimp roll has the fried shrimp on top so that one came out last. Both of my rolls tasted fresh and the plates were presented nicely: the chef made a flower tree with their sauces! The lady checked on me a few times so I could tell they're big on customer service. Kai sushi is a very cute little restaurant. It's the type of restaurant where you order at the register and then they bring the foods out to you to enjoy in their limited seating area. The coolest things about Kai Sushi are 1. Their electronic fireplace. If you're going to eat sushi on a cold day, i recommend sitting next to their electronic fire place! Yes it's small, but it works really well. I kind of want one for my own room! 2. Their water dispenser is amazing. It has to be the coolest water dispenser I have ever seen & used in my life (thus far). Their water dispenser can make ice, hot water, ambient (room temperature) water, and cold water.... How amazing right?! Anyway the service here is amazing, everyone is super friendly. Though there is limited seating area, I think it's a great place to stop by to get your quick sushi fix. read more

The fish here is so fresh! I have never tried Ono before (I usually eat yellowtail and salmon) but it came in the assorted sashimi plate and I have no regrets!
