I usually go to The Nail Lab off Falls of Neuse, but they were packed. Since my mom was visiting from Fayetteville and heading back soon, we decided to try MG Nail Salon based on the ratings. Walking in, the salon already felt outdated and not very clean, but the staff seemed friendly and it wasn't crowded--which was surprising for a Friday before Mother's Day. That's where the positives end. We all got basic pedicures, and when I say *basic*, I mean literally just water--no soap, no soak solution, no bubbles... nothing. Just a quick rinse, scrub, and lotion for $35-$38. On top of that, the technician cut me multiple times around my cuticles, leaving my feet raw. My mom had the same experience--her feet were also left looking and feeling terrible. My 6-year-old only received polish on her hands and feet--no soak, no pedicure, no sanitation--and they tried to say it's normally $38 but charged $23. Even that felt ridiculous for what was done, and the polish job looked rushed and sloppy. My 10-year-old got Gel X nails with one simple design on the thumb, and the total came to $70--which felt overpriced for the quality. As for me, I requested acrylic big toes with a French tip. When it was done, I was so upset I almost cried. The owner told me it was "impossible" to do a French tip because I chose regular polish instead of gel--which makes no sense and shows a lack of experience. He attempted to fix it but ended up giving me a solid color instead... and it still looked terrible. On top of everything, the sanitation practices were concerning.
