They require masks for everyone and the employees sometimes wear two of them They have put up plastic dividers everywhere, which were thought to be helpful in the beginning. Now that we know the virus is aerosolized, the barriers are merely 'decorative'. They do show that this business has taken the virus seriously since the beginning. I've had my nails done by two techs other than Yallee or Bailey. I couldn't really get their names due to multiple masks. They both did the same meticulous job as the others. Sadly, I have taken them down a star. One of the main reasons I became a customer when I moved to NC was because they did NOT have televisions in the salon. That is no longer true. I will concede that the volume is very low and the peaceful music prevails, except for occasional bursts of startling sounds from a random show. Additionally, it is their policy to refrain from putting on news stations, which is refreshing. I've added a couple of pics of the new set-up. I still plan on remaining absolutely loyal to Wakefield Nails.

I end up being given to two individuals; Tina for my pedicure and Ann for my fullset. Tina was super nice during my pedicure, the man beside her working kept glaring at me. It felt weird. I was then handed off to Ann who I asked how much is "French " on my middle finger and pointer only she said maybe $20 she wasn't sure and so I said never mind and while she's gluing on my tips she asks what shape do I want and I say square I guess idk. I said I just came from having Oval, "how bout you choose for me". She says "I think almond for you". I said okay sure I trust your judgement. I ended up only getting french for my middle finger only. Towards the end of my appt a group of white girls come in and Nancy is very polite and welcoming to them more enthusiastic and friendly. She asks them would they like something to drink. She goes over to the other white lady seated asks her the same, and looks me dead in the eye and goes back and sits down. offering me nothing. While this is going on I am having a "hot flash". I have multiple sclerosis and frequently I have moments where my body can't regulate temperature. I apologize to Ann because my hands start to sweat I turn on her fan for her and let her know what was going on. I eventually ask for a drink. Ann seemed to be annoyed by my request but she gets up grabs the diet coke and She sat the drink down and the straw and didn't even bother to open it. Mind you she's in the middle of painting my nails. I asked her to please open it for me so i didn't mess up her beautiful creation. She laughs and opens the drink. Fast forward to time to pay. Ann couldn't figure out how to properly check me out so Nancy comes over to help. She tells me that my total is $108 and that it was a $5 charge for the 1 finger french (which i understood) then says and $5 for the shape. I said What do you mean. She said anything other than square up charge. I said that's not written anywhere and that Ann (her tech) chose the shape for me without warning me. She says "ok well now you know for next time" I said Hmm well okay and i paid. And even though I didn't agree with her flippant attitude and like condescending tone I smiled said "Thank you so much " and paid it and tipped 22% and left. A nearby business owner asked me what was wrong and crying I explained that I don't think what happened to me was "racist", but I felt like I was treated differently, not welcomed, and I felt uncomfortable being there like Nancy and some other coworkers didn't want me there. I came alone was very polite using "yes ma'am no ma'am," and acted like my normal self. However I don't feel happy about what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. I left feeling worse. The kind business owner said to me "It will be okay. Now you know and you don't have to spend your money anywhere that doesn't make you feel welcome and included. They should be happy you are there to support them" He offered me a water and was super kind and lifted my spirits. If you don't care about feeling welcome or like the environment is friendly and warm then by all means go to this place and get your nails and toes done. Like I said Tina was awesome took her time and was so sweet however Ann was dishonest, but she did good work so far time will tell, it's only been a few hours. But if the above things don't matter to you then this place of business is made for you. However, if you're like me and are a bit more sensitive to energies & prefer to be in welcoming spaces for ALL people then I wouldn't bother coming here. This is my experience and my experience only. So there is nothing anyone can say to me that will change my truth about my treatment today.

It was as if she was doing me a huge favor by allowing me to sit in her chair! One comment she made that springs to mind was, "while you have a lot of hair, it's *very* thin". You know, that's great you have opinions, but there's a little thing called tact and it's considered unprofessional to treat clients rudely. For the record, there is nothing "thin" about my hair which is why I was so taken aback by her catty comment. Stylists usually ask for more time because my hair is so thick and wavy. For the record, it wasn't just the one comment, it was the overall experience of making me feel uncomfortable, so much so I couldn't wait to leave. Obviously I didn't go back. Who wants to pay to be insulted? Even if she was having a bad day, I still can't imagine the owner of ANY business having such a nasty disposition toward their clients. *update* Not long ago a local hair stylist friend of mine mentioned that Impressions Salon had moved to a new location. My friend also mentioned that she knew the owner so I told her how my experience with the owner went. My friend replied, "I've known Ashley for a long time and yes she has been known to be rude to her clients. That's just how she is."

I decided to give it a try as 1) I hadn't had my nails done in a while and 2) I had a trip coming up. I'm pretty peculiar with my nails -- they are long and I want to keep them that way -- and I was giving myself a break from using gel polish. My nail services were subpar. The experience itself was fine -- not great, but just fine. Someone asked me what I wanted to drink, and I asked "What are my options?" They replied "Water or soda". Then I asked if they had coffee, and the woman said yes. So...I'm not sure why she just told me they only had water or soda. I needed two tips put on my shorter nails because they recently broke. One of my tips broke within 5 hours. The other is so noticeable. The technician did unfortunately a really bad job at filing the tip to make it blend in with my nail. What's more, it is not fully glued onto my nail. It will likely break within the week, probably sooner. I would go back for a redo, but as I said, I wanted to give my nails a break from gel polish. I do not want them taking off my gel polish (probably by scraping it) only to weaken my nail further. That, and I live far from this salon. I'm unfortunately disappointed in the service here. I called yesterday asking to speak to a manager and was told somebody would get back to me. Nobody has gotten back to me.
