Fried Chicken Gizzards
Rachel K.

I think I prefer Choong-Man Chicken over Chi Mc because they have more variety of flavors for chicken. But I will say that the chicken qualify at Chi Mc beats Choong Man. The wings were super crispy, fresh, and steaming hot. The chicken gizzard portion is very large and it's the perfect app for a small group. The dipping sauce is a sriracha mayo. Our server was very friendly!

I have ordered from Chi Mc before, but I was disappointed with this location. We usually order from the Burke location, but we were desperate on Thanksgiving, as that location seemed to be closed, so we ended up ordering from this location. I generally love the chicken from Chi Mc, but this location seems to not be up to par compared to some of the other locations. I assume it is because this location is supposedly not associated with the other locations anymore, but I am not sure. I ordered a combo of wings and drums, half spicy half soy, and the chicken was not as crispy as I would have liked it to be. Also, some of the chicken was on the tougher side. Overall, the chicken tasted alright, but it was not as good as I expected it to be based on previous experiences. I would opt to order from a different Chi Mc location in the future.

Dolsot Bibimbap

FOOD - Parmesan Cheese French Fries - Cajun Seasoning French Fries - XL Wings 1/2 and 1/2 (Soy and Spicy) - Dolsot Bibimbap Both the fries were mediocre. The seasoning was overall uneven so there were a lot of patches of bland flavor. For the XL wings, the soy wings seemed overly salted which caused quick flavor fatigue. BUT I would say one redeeming quality was that the wings were probably the crispiest that I've ever had. The bibimbap was definitely something interesting. Before, I've had bibimbap with lettuce but served at room temperature. In this dish, it was a hot stone bowl with lettuce and lots of other vegetables that I haven't traditionally seen in bibimbap dishes. In short, hot lettuce wasn't really the move for me. There was also not a lot of meat available in the bowl so I would rate this bowl below average due to the strange combo and my dissatisfaction. VIBES The interior was nice and spacious with plenty of seating. Very quiet and we were part of the few customers dining in. It seems more people carry out than dine in. SERVICE When we came in, we weren't really greeted nor did the server actually sit us down at a table. Usually, I wouldn't have minded, but there was no one else in the restaurant so it was a little disappointing. Additionally, the server never offered to refill water throughout our entire time here. It seemed she was annoyed with us when we ordered or asked for napkins or water so it was pretty eh.

Hands down best Korean fried chicken place in the area. I used to go to the Bonchon in Arlington (Pershing) but either due to COVID or other reasons there chicken shrunk significantly and it just doesn't tastes as good. Chi Mc's chicken however are hearty and taste amazing. The double frying definitely helps add a crispy outer layer while retaining the moisture inside the chicken. It's super filling and I've yet to find another place that can match. Their spicy one definitely has a kick but it's hard to put down. ONLY DOWNSIDE is it will take 40 min if not longer from when you order til when you get your chicken. And I mean a whole 40 minutes. They make it to order and the double frying from raw takes a while. The pay off is definitely worth it but plan accordingly We've also had their Cajun Fries, Tteokbokki, and jalapeño poppers. All were great starters with a ice cold pitcher of beer.

Lunch Specials (Soy and spicy combos)

Wanted to visit Chi MC again because I haven't been here in a while and it just isn't the same anymore. Seating is limited due to COVID precautions and there are only a few people working at a time. My table was the only one in the store but we had to wait almost an hour for two lunch specials. Not once did a server update us on our order. The flavor of the wings were very strong, but salty. I really liked how crunchy the skin was, but the chicken on the inside tasted bland. I forgot how limited the flavor options were (there are only 2). It's safe to say that I won't be returning anytime soon.

We used to always come to this location of Chi Mc years ago when it was a Bon Chon.  The service was friendly, the chicken was crispy and tasty and came with salad and kimchi, hot barley tea in winter and cold barley tea in the hotter months.  All this was enjoyed while watching the K-pop videos on the big screen.  Then, the family that owned that franchise moved their location to Chantilly and we drove there for our regular outings for chicken.  Unfortunately, the Chantilly location recently closed and so we went back to the Annandale location that we used to frequent.  Sadly, a lot has changed since we used to go.  The big screen is dark and most of the business seems to be take out.  It's good that there is a service bell on the wall by the table, because if you don't ring it when you need something, you will never see anyone.  I guess they are busy in the kitchen manning the fryer or no longer need to ask if you would like your tea glass filled because they no longer offer tea.  The food was ok but the atmosphere was sterile and we really missed how it used to be.  We had the fried dumplings and the pork belly bao which were ok.  Nothing special.  Even the chicken didn't seem as tasty as it used to be.  I think we will keep searching.

Half and Half Medium Wings

The food was pretty good and the service was ok. I really like the chicken and gyoza. They both were flavor packed and good texture. Sometimes ok ocean fried chicken is super hard and over cooked and this was not the case at all. The friend rice was super tasty and unique. It has a sweet hint and the bell peppers were a good touch. I would definitely come back. I came during lunch but since it was a holidaybthey didn't do the lunch special so be sure to call in advance. I didn't expect to pay that much but the food was gooD none the less.

Drinks $15. Perrier, sparkling water $7. I did not order any food. I came here to see Charlie Aponte from Puerto Rican Power and he put on an absolutely amazing show. He has a great voice, tons of energy and danced the entire time. He's someone's grandpa and he was straight fire!!! They had three sections, and three different ticket prices . Seated or VIP tables in the front, semi-VIP which was standing behind the VIP, and then general admission, more standing in the back. There's even more seating areas by the first bar when you first enter. The venue is not bad. I've been coming to Diamond Lounge since forever. Great space for dancing. They play mostly Latin music like salsa, merengue, bachata. The crowd and environment totally depends upon who they're catering to. I've never had any problems because I usually go for special events, live concerts, etc. Plenty of bands and singers perform here and come from many places like Cuba, NY, Puerto Rico, DR, etc. Sometimes local Go-Go bands have shows here as well. The AC could be improved. It can get pretty warm in there. Bottome line, Diamond Lounge could use some upgrades, but overall I haven't had any issues. People come to hear the music, dance and enjoy themselves. But it really depends upon the crowd and who they're catering to.

We ordered a spread: gyoza with sweet and spicy sauce, kimchi pancakes, fried shrimp, soy garlic wings, takoyaki, LA galbi, and jjampong with noodles... plus way too many drinks. We arrived early and scored prime seats by the bar, which turned out to be perfect, especially once the night shifted into more of a club vibe with a DJ. The energy was great, and most of the food was surprisingly delicious -- everything hit except the jjampong. We were expecting udon noodles, but it came with thin, clear noodles instead, and the flavor was a bit off for us. That said, the staff handled everything perfectly, and it didn't take away from the rest of the experience. Between the food, drinks, and nightlife atmosphere, we had an awesome time and will definitely be back. The food tasted like it wasn't prepared by a real chef, or more like it was made by someone who had never even tasted their own cooking. I don't understand how someone can screw up Korean food in Korean town. Every restaurant in the area gets better and better. Competition is high. The price is on the high end. Came here with a large group of friends and we ate very well!! All the dishes were yummy, so can't complain. Kimchi pancake was also crispy and had a good ratio of batter to kimchi, but it was pretty bland and definitely needed the sauce. Kkanpungi was decent as well as the buddaejiggae and prices were fair. Drink pictures may be misleading so make sure to look at the description! Anyways the whole experience felt like we were just eating in the dark with quiet background music. Don't expect anything for birthdays either. Anyways would go back for the food but extremely lacking ambiance wise.
