    Inside of Taco Ssam

Taco Ssam is a fun fusion of a restaurant featuring Korean-Mexican food. It was taco tuesday and you know I just had to get my fix of tacos for the day so I went all in. The atmosphere here was very trendy and I'd say I'm sure it attracts a lot of people to come in for happy hour or at least for a taste of both worlds. It was also happy hour so with the server, they recommended me modelo to drink since it was half off drinks until 8 and I couldn't say no to that! I ended up getting Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Bulgogi, Porky Belly, and Pollo Asado for my tacos. I was so happy when they came out as I waited almost all day to dive into delicious tacos! Overall each tacos were made fresh, I don't really have much of a compliant because the food was just that good! I only wish I could get a Birria Taco to sample but you'd need to order three. Oh well. Maybe next time I'll have to give them a shot. Check this place if you like Tacos!

Restaurant food is good, not outstanding but good. I gave a 3 start because I ordered to go and they did not disclose that there was an additional fee "to go fee".

Pretty cool fusion Korean-Mexican bar! I won't be exaggerating if I say it's probably the best Mexican food I had in the area. Their Birria tacos are very good, and the other tacos, seafood and such are pretty good too. Service is good, and they have multiple specials; Happy Hour and the like. I definitely recommend it.

FOOD Taco Ssam has been on our list to try for a while, especially for their birria tacos. While the tortillas were nicely seasoned with the oil from the consomé and served crispy, and the burnt mozzarella added an interesting texture, the overall flavor fell a bit short of my expectations. It was still enjoyable, but I wouldn't rush back for it. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE The interior is dimly lit with ample seating for mostly tables of 2-4. Restrooms are available inside as well. PARKING Ample parking is available in the plaza lot.

Went during cinco de mayo and it was packed at 6:30 but service was quick and the food fresh. 5 stars for the carne asada and sopa de marisco. The soup was the real star. Each bite was full of seafood from clams to crabs. A total show stopper.

I come here once in a while because i like that it has Fusion tacos. Also I was here on a holiday for lunch and I couldn't believe the $2.85 draft beer price. That is correct! The price is good and the food is pretty good. They had friendly staff and the place is small, but that's fine with outside seats for warmer weather.

I've been coming here for years and have never left disappointed. The staff are always friendly and take the time to speak with you, even when they're running around busy. Definitely ask for Roxanna and Melany. The tacos are on the pricier side, but they always taste good. The combination of Asian and Mexican food works so well! My go to order is either the Birria tacos, or the pork belly and carne asado tacos. Their sauces are also very delicious and have varying levels of spiciness. Their stuffed churros are a tasty sweet treat for dessert. The paintings on the walls are colourful and bring such a vibrant and lively vibe to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a bit small, and there can be limited seating at times inside, but they do offer outside seating as well. I always bring family and friends over here and have become quite the regular. Their alcohol drinks are so refreshing and they have a really good happy hour deal!

We were seated outside because we brought our dog so I couldn't enjoy the interior. However, they do have an outside patio seating area where you can bring your dog, which is nice! The service was alright. The food did take a bit of time to come out but that's alright. The carne asada taco was pretty good with a soft taco shell and some cilantro and onions added on top it wasn't the heftiest taco and there wasn't anything special or spectacular about it. Just your standard. Their green sauce that's on the table is pretty good to put on top as it has a slight spicy kick to it. The platter was good too. The portion size was big and came with rice and black beans on the side with about four soft shell tacos on the side so you can make your own tacos. All in all, it wasn't bad for a quick stop.

My husband and I went for a late lunch. The environment is not for someone who wants to enjoy a quiet dining experience, but it would be good for a group of people to grab a bite and drink for social gathering. The dining experience exceeded my expectations due to the pleasant weather and the shaded outdoor seating. I observed a dog water bowl near our table, indicating that dogs were allowed. We ordered the $10.99 deal for 4 tacos each, trying various types. The cod fish, shrimp, and steak tacos stood out as particularly delicious. The servers were amiable and attentive, allowing us to relish the peaceful atmosphere while no other customers were at the restaurant.

1st time here, came thanks to Yelp I was hoping for a real fusion of Korean-Mexico food....everything tends to be more Mexican than korean..they have a few korean dishes.. Dont Believe the Hype on the Tacos..There are way better spots in the DMV that have better tacos. The "Bento Box " is a fajita platter...smh Service was slow

Absolutely loved the food . SERVICE ehhh not sooo good NO drink menu provided to me, although everyone else got one No straw for water although everyone after me received one as well as the people sitting. This bad service was from 2 women in particular who seemed to be annoyed that I was there. And more annoyed that they had to wait on me. I've had this experience in this area often. So If you look like me ummmmm, be prepared

Heard this place was worth the try and have always been wanting to try korean mexican fusion and finally got the chance. I was highly dissatisfied in the quality of the food and the service. Our waiter took a long time to come out with food/drinks. Had to remind her twice for straws and she didn't come by to check on us at all or with water refills after all our drinks were empty for some time. I'm empathic with people but it was hard to understand as it was not busy when we were there. The ramens broth was odd, and just not what ramen should be in my personal opinion. It also gave that person who ordered it a stomach ache. The birria tacos were a win for them though! The pork belly tacos were under the fusion section but was not the pork belly we were expecting. The al pastor was also actually decent next to the birria tacos. The beef tongue was bland and you could see the little bristles which maybe they're supposed to be there and I just never noticed at other places. Maybe I was just misled by all the hype so I came in with high expectations or am just not a fan of this fusion. But personally, will not be coming here for a second chance.

We made reservations since we were a group of 6 including 2 infants, and these were warranted as the restaurant progressively filled up as we got closer to peak brunch hours. We were offered a large booth, which was appreciated as we needed space for the babies. The food here tasted quite good. My wife ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, which offered tender-crisp, thick slices of braised pork belly atop soft, buttery focaccia and coated with well poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. We both highly enjoyed my Broadlands Breakfast Sandwich, a clever take on a standard bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich swapping crispy, perfectly sweet French toast for standard bread. The breakfast potatoes served alongside were crispy on the outside with fluffy interiors and good seasoning. Our friends enjoyed their sandwiches as well. As the name alludes, the drink program is strong and offers something for everyone. In addition to wine and whisky, a solid selection of both cocktails and draft beers are available. Prices for both food and drinks were quite reasonable given the quality of what we received. I do dock a star for just so-so service. Our waitress was a bit MIA during the first part of our meal when we were trying to order, and then kept checking in on us every 5 minutes once our food arrived. We also had to remind her a few times to get a high chair for our little one. Fortunately, the food and drinks all arrived accurately and within a timely manner once ordered. Service woes aside, the creative fare satisfied our taste buds and we look forward to returning soon for to sample more of the brunch menu and libations.

Dinner entreés were jambalaya pasta, the American wagyu burger, pulled short rib rigatoni and branzino almondine. There were zero complaints. We enjoyed EVERYTHING!! The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. He always recommended Kilroys to us as he was a regular at this restaurant. So, it became our annual tradition to have dinner at Kilroys. When you walk into Kilroys, you'll appreciate the amount of details thag went into the interior design of the restaurant. It should be noted that Kilroy's honors its veterans. My uncle was a proud veteran, so he always felt welcomed here. There is a lot of military memorabilia throughout Kilroy's. The walls are filled with so many photos that walk you back through historic events. There's so much love for the USA in here! The menu consists of a lot of traditional American food. Most of the items are heavy, so expect to leave with a full belly. They have your typical meat, fish, poultry, and pasta dishes. However, they also offer flatbread pizzas! There really is something for everyone. I typically order catfish or trout. Both are delicious, but I really like their catfish. I love Cajun spices, so it's always nice to enjoy something that hits close to home. I also appreciate that their servings are large, because it's well worth the money that you spend here. I would have never heard of Kilroy's if it wasn't for my uncle. Kilroy's definitely lived up to the hype. I enjoy coming here because it's like a hidden gem. I think it's safe to say we are fans. This place is old school, not just due to the decor but also due to certain staff (although they have recently been joined by some newer folks), attendees, and the menu. We stick with burgers, loaded tots, wings, cider, and a dessert. I visit here with hubs as well as a walking buddy. It's decor is a little conflicted in that is WWI & II focused inside and Jimmy Buffet /beachy w parrots outside. During the pandemic I enjoyed sitting outside eating the tots & sipping cider with my walking buddy after a walk around the lake, unfortunately now the outside seems to have become a smoking area removing it as a good place to eat for those of us who do not smoke. I hope it will regain its nice outdoor dining space in the new year's spring and summer but guess the bar crowd may frequent the outdoor space for smokes which is unfortunate. The bar is open late with sports streaming constantly and been a good place to catch games so I get why they may find it beneficial to keep that crowd returning. Despite the old school vibe and dark decor Kilroy's is clean & the service is friendly although they do over use those food heat lamps. We come here regularly for the Monday burger deal, I would guess we currently average about once a month.
