We always get the spicy chicken feet to go from this place whenever we are craving a late night snack. It's always so good and comes with a lot of bean sprouts and some rice cakes. I think I prefer Choong-Man Chicken over Chi Mc because they have more variety of flavors for chicken. But I will say that the chicken qualify at Chi Mc beats Choong Man. I have ordered from Chi Mc before, but I was disappointed with this location. We usually order from the Burke location, but we were desperate on Thanksgiving, as that location seemed to be closed, so we ended up ordering from this location. I generally love the chicken from Chi Mc, but this location seems to not be up to par compared to some of the other locations. I assume it is because this location is supposedly not associated with the other locations anymore, but I am not sure. I ordered a combo of wings and drums, half spicy half soy, and the chicken was not as crispy as I would have liked it to be. Also, some of the chicken was on the tougher side. FOOD - Parmesan Cheese French Fries - Cajun Seasoning French Fries - XL Wings 1/2 and 1/2 (Soy and Spicy) - Dolsot Bibimbap Both the fries were mediocre. The seasoning was overall uneven so there were a lot of patches of bland flavor. For the XL wings, the soy wings seemed overly salted which caused quick flavor fatigue. BUT I would say one redeeming quality was that the wings were probably the crispiest that I've ever had. The bibimbap was definitely something interesting. Before, I've had bibimbap with lettuce but served at room temperature. In this dish, it was a hot stone bowl with lettuce and lots of other vegetables that I haven't traditionally seen in bibimbap dishes. In short, hot lettuce wasn't really the move for me. There was also not a lot of meat available in the bowl so I would rate this bowl below average due to the strange combo and my dissatisfaction. VIBES The interior was nice and spacious with plenty of seating. Very quiet and we were part of the few customers dining in. It seems more people carry out than dine in. SERVICE When we came in, we weren't really greeted nor did the server actually sit us down at a table. Yet all of these wings and drumsticks, are delicious more than words convey. I would add addictive too. Every visit they are so tasty, and have a number of flavors to choose from. Hands down best Korean fried chicken place in the area. I used to go to the Bonchon in Arlington (Pershing) but either due to COVID or other reasons there chicken shrunk significantly and it just doesn't tastes as good. Chi Mc's chicken however are hearty and taste amazing. The double frying definitely helps add a crispy outer layer while retaining the moisture inside the chicken. It's super filling and I've yet to find another place that can match. Their spicy one definitely has a kick but it's hard to put down. ONLY DOWNSIDE is it will take 40 min if not longer from when you order til when you get your chicken. And I mean a whole 40 minutes. They make it to order and the double frying from raw takes a while. The pay off is definitely worth it but plan accordingly We've also had their Cajun Fries, Tteokbokki, and jalapeño poppers. We used to always come to this location of Chi Mc years ago when it was a Bon Chon.  The service was friendly, the chicken was crispy and tasty and came with salad and kimchi, hot barley tea in winter and cold barley tea in the hotter months.  All this was enjoyed while watching the K-pop videos on the big screen.  Then, the family that owned that franchise moved their location to Chantilly and we drove there for our regular outings for chicken.  Unfortunately, the Chantilly location recently closed and so we went back to the Annandale location that we used to frequent.  Sadly, a lot has changed since we used to go.  The big screen is dark and most of the business seems to be take out.  It's good that there is a service bell on the wall by the table, because if you don't ring it when you need something, you will never see anyone.  I guess they are busy in the kitchen manning the fryer or no longer need to ask if you would like your tea glass filled because they no longer offer tea.  The food was ok but the atmosphere was sterile and we really missed how it used to be.  We had the fried dumplings and the pork belly bao which were ok.  Nothing special.  Even the chicken didn't seem as tasty as it used to be.  I think we will keep searching. read more

The food was pretty good and the service was ok. I really like the chicken and gyoza. They both were flavor packed and good texture. Sometimes ok ocean fried chicken is super hard and over cooked and this was not the case at all. The friend rice was super tasty and unique. It has a sweet hint and the bell peppers were a good touch. I would definitely come back. Quiet when we came, there's a parking lot so parking wasn't an issue. The food does take some time but pretty good food. We ordered the lunch chicken bites and lunch drumsticks [4]. They are $12 and come with rice, radish or soda. We also ordered the chicken gizzard appetizer which came out with a lunch. Service was alright. I ordered a Mango Soju Cocktail which was really good. Chi Mc is a solid place for old school Korean fried chicken. Both the soy and spicy flavors are great and juicy/crispy. The perfect combination you want in Korean fried chicken. The only downsides of this place is that it does take a while for your chicken to come out and that it has such a pronounced smell of cleaning material that it affects your dining experience. If not for the pandemic and the Lysol smell, it'd be a 4.5 experience. read more

5/7/21 Today tried another Chi Mc restaurant.  I had seen it before, but never gave it much thought. Today I thought I would bring home dinner for the family.   This restaurant is truly different from the Vienna store. The place has a bar set up in it with three big screen tvs I sae so whatever show is showing, can be watched. I saw people eating in the restaurant booths. The people were laughing and having a good time. A real sense of normalcy during these Coronavirus times. The bar tender named David greeted me and took my order. I ordered  30 piece hot and spicy chicken strips which is what this restaurant calls them. Different from what the Vienna restaurant calls them. If your wondering,  Vienna calls them Chicken Tenders.  I also ordered 30 piece garlic parmesan to which this restaurant calls garlic soy. This leads me to believe the name of this restaurant is nearly the same, it is run by independent owners. This is just my opinion, but I did see differences between the chicken of Vienna versus Annandale. The prices of  are higher in Annadale, but you get more chicken for your money.  I will put the picture of prices between the two places co you can see the difference and quantity for your money. Also the taste of the chicken Tenders vs Stripes are very different indeed.   While the tastes of the sauce remains just as delicious for both restaurants, the chicken itself in Annandale comes up short. The  breaded portions of  Annandale's chick had all the flavor in it. The chick itself without the breaded crust was very bland.  I found Vienna's store to have flavor in ever bight of their chicken. Vienna's Chi Mc  does not bread and deep fried their chicken.  They do it in a way that the flavor is on the chicken directly and is soft an tender as the name implies.  Don't  get me wrong, Chi Mc of Annandale chick is tasty, I think the Vienna store has a better process of cooking the chicken.  Even if you get less chicken for your money. I enjoyed my chicken and I have left overs for today and Sunday.    My wife felt sick to her stomach this morning since eating her hot and spicy chicken.  I will be contacting the store should things escalate. All in all, the chicken was good, it wasn't outstanding.  Still, I might try this place one more time. I can't speak for my wife. read more

Chicken is decent but the manager or owner of this place however is not a good human so for that reason I'll take my business elsewhere. I ordered our usual $60 order for pick up but because I hadn't started my car in a few days and due to the cold my battery was dead so my 12 yo and I decided it would be a fun adventure to trek the 15 minutes there in the snow to pick it up. By the time we got there we were cold and asked if we could sit down for a bit. The person there started lecturing us about how it's a restaurant and they have bills so since it's a pick up order we can't sit down. Reminder, we were paying customers, only one table was in use and as far as I am aware they don't have a "chair usage fee". If it was me I would have just been annoyed but to be this terrible of a human being in front of a kid!? on the other hand this gave us another opportunity to talk about values and morals and reinforce that although some people have no consideration for others, even when it's financially beneficial for them, most people are actually decent, and those are the people we should reward with our friendship or patronage. read more

I love Korean Fried chicken. Well I love any fried chicken. Chimc fried chicken drums are like on steroids. they are huge. Not sure why, but the drums can you up fast. The breading is super crispy and chicken fairly moist. It is a very long wait for your wings, so better just order the wings prior to picking up. The fried rice is good also. I didn't know that Chi Mc had another location till a co-worker told me about one he goes to in Annandale. So I decided to try it out on my lunch from work. This location allows you to order online, so you don't have to talk to people. I ordered a round of chicken to go and it allowed me options of types (boneless tenders, bone in, etc). I don't think I remember if Chantilly allows that (since I always get bone in there mix with wings and drums), but I thought I would switch it up today so I ordered tenders. The online order said it would be ready in 35 mins. I left work with 19 minutes left on my timer. My drive from work is 21 minutes via google maps. I almost missed the building as it's in a tiny strip mall (where my car almost got hit three times by pedestrians running just trying to find parking). I got there and waited about 2-3 minutes to be greeted. There was about 4 groups (2-4 people groups) sitting amongst the dining room with one very frantic worker running between tables, and mostly trying to figuring out the computer/remember orders. When I was greeted, the worker said the order is not out yet but it will be very soon. I sat at the bar and started looking over the drink menu. I noticed there were dirty dishes from a previous patron at the bar. I figured I would get a drink while I waited. The only worker never offered me water or asked if I would like a drink while I waited. I waited politely waiting for an opportunity to ask for a beverage but there wasn't a good time between his frantic running back and forth from tables to the bar computer. So I didn't get anything... It was about an extra 10 minute wait from what was estimated. I think I prefer the chicken drums and wings to the tenders. The tenders are spotty with what part is crispy and what part isn't. The skin also when eating it may take all the skin off and then you have chicken with no skin. Overall, I prefer the Chantilly location. From the staff, to the atmosphere, to the quality of food. I really wish the Chantilly location would take a hint from the Annandale location and get an online order system. I would suggest to the Annandale location to make sure you are properly staffed to handle customers. With only 4 tables at almost lunch time, there should have been no excuses for dirty dishes on the counter tops, mix up with orders and you would have made another 10-14 dollars off of me if I had the opportunity to be asked for a beverage. read more

Big fan of KFC and Chi Mc serves up the best. It's crispy and not soggy like 92 chicken or Choo Man. Usually do the wings with half soy garlic and half medium spicy. Stop by when you're in Annandale; you won't regret it. read more
