I honestly love K-bop even though it is not considered "authentic Korean food". The beef bulgogi bowl is TO DIE FOR. The flavors, textures and the egg just make it something I crave constantly. The management is super nice and often comes by the table and asks how the food is! I don't think their drinks are as amazing but I definitely recommend trying that bowl or the spicy chicken, it's a bit pricy almost $11 with tax but worth! I just wish they went back to putting the kimchi out to where you could take as many as you want, now they have it behind the counter and you have to ask for some. read more

My family and I went to this place for a quick lunch. My kids are picky eaters and the owners gladly customized their rolls. This restaurant was a much needed addition to the campus area. It is a spin off of the way Koreans eat food near their college campuses. Don't expect a long list of options. You basically have a few soup options and rolls. This place is a quick bites sort of place. I loved their kimchi jigae! It comes with a good portion of spam(trust me it pairs perfectly with kimchi, it's the way Koreans eat it!!) and noodles. Kbop just opened up recently and I tried it out for the first time. Its clean and looks super new, even though ive been to the place before kbop rennovated and took over. The staff and workers are so friendly and nice, and the food came out pretty quickly. A friend and I ordered kim bap and tonkatsu and dukbooki. Even though the food was pretty casual stuff that you can make, the place reminded me of the local cafes that after tutoring or school you would go to with your friends. I think one of the downsides is that for such casual food, it can be a little pricey... They have one lunchbox menu which was $10 and is pretty easy to make yourself... Its literally just ham fried in egg batter but I saw a lot of people get it. The donkatsu was pretty good and their sauce was really unique and had mushrooms which was new but enjoyable. read more

I've been meaning to try out Emo's for the longest time...that opportunity came and went, since K-Bop replaced Emo's. So, I sure wasn't going to miss out on another golden opportunity. Today was the day! I hadn't eaten anything much since 10 AM, so at 6 PM I knew I was gonna have some K-Bop - the cravings were strong. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi to go, and it came out in less than five minutes with a container of kimchi. You have no idea how fast I was fast walking to get back home to eat my food. First impression: Not the biggest fan of the sauce since it made the bowl a tad sweeter than I had expected/wanted. But portion wise, it was filling (I still had some leftovers!) and the beef was tender and flavorful mixed with the japchae, rice, and egg. I added some lettuce to the bowl when I got home and that combination really hit the spot. Not sure what, but I may want to come back and try some of the other things on the menu! read more

Somewhat disappointed. I ordered 4 entrées, two bulgogi bowls, a spicy chicken bowl and kimchi fried rice. None were authentic to food served in Korea, which is asking a lot I know... but it was the inconsistent portioning that really got me. Barely any bulgogi made it into either bowl (approx 2/3 of the smallish scoop they use or maybe 1.5 to 2 ounces), and the young lady preparing them pantomimed a second scoop on each which was actually quite comical (it was empty both times). So it was all dry white rice and noodles. Not even enough broth to give the rice some flavor made it to the bowl. The reason this was significant is because it was the bulgogi I came for and the rest was afterthought to round out the meal. The spicy chicken bowl though was overflowing with chicken. More than I would expect. It was flavorful and very good though not truly authentic to Korea. From there it was downhill. The kimchi fried rice was nothing like what you find in Korea on the street or in restaurants. It was closer to a crepe with dry rice and kimchi inside. Nothing fried about it and completely mush if taken to go. Oddly it lost all the heat kimchi normally brings so it was rather bland. Even adding the sides of kimchi didn't really help. Overall given the difficulty of the location, general unfriendliness and the way my order was stopped mid preparation to get the only other customer her tea in conjunction with 3/4 of the dishes being flavorless, I would not recommend K-Bop if you want to taste Korean food. Head North where there are more options and possibly parking. read more

So I decided to randomly try this place out, and it is expensive. If crowded it concerns me for fire safety, but other than that it is decent food. The teas are alright, but I think that I'll keep looking for boba spots. The food is fresh and it looks like they work with a tiny kitchen so I can't really expect anything less. If I showed up later I would have been waiting for a spot. I recommend coming by and checking it out, but try to aim for an off peak time so you can actually enjoy the food and the wall art. read more

Honestly is a definite traditional korean food spot.. highly recommend....like cooking straight from home style korean food... simple but very delicious food.. service is great comfortable self seating.. the owners are super nice. The dishes really remind of my moms cooking.. im only passing through here have been on the road for quiet some time and have been to many korean restaurants along the way. This one is definitely at the top of my list.. newly opened just a few months ago and is definitely a hidden gem. Plus they also serve bubbletea!! Well where should I start?? Restaurant has no more than 5 guest and no line . 5 workers cleaning up for the night but my order hadn't even been prepared after 15 minutes. Once I mention that I'm waiting for my order . They laugh and giggle as if something is funny. Worst Restaurant, worst experience and a waste of time . This place is amazing! The food had my entire party talking about it for literally days after we went. The portions are great (I had maybe 1/4 of my bowl leftover which I quickly ate for breakfast the next morning). The ordering system is very convenient, and they offer a nice little reward for becoming a returning customer! Overall, this will be the first place I return to when I visit Austin again. The food is great, priced really well, and the whole process is really convenient. I made this mistake when it first opened and it was like 10 dollars, now it's like 6 but still wtf. Guy taking my order was a complete asshole. He was rude, rushed me, ignored my questions, and made me feel unwelcome. It was my first time there and I definitely won't be back. When my order came out it wasn't what I expected at all. Maybe if someone would of answered any questions I had of would of been fine. I have a dairy allergy and am also vegan so when my dish came out with mayo and other dairy products that I asked if it contained you could imagine how upset I was. I went to return the dish and order something else and again the man ignored me. I only asked to put in another order and I didnt even want a refund on the food that I was given. He ignored me and was persistent in making me feel bad for my order and saying, "did you not order this? You ordered this." Also it's extremely small inside and there was even a man I kept walking away from yet he kept finding himself WAY too close to me. Something needs to be done about the staff here. I have never been so disrespected and felt so uncomfortable at a restuarant. I cant even review the food because I wasnt able to eat what I recieved or even make a proper order. read more

When I walked into this restaurant, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had never really explored Korean food before but this place offered a great introduction to a new world of cuisine. The chicken bibimbap is pretty good and I'll probably come back again to explore something else on the menu. Nice workers and they're doing what they can to seat many in a small space. Ordered the bulgogi kimbop and it was pretty good but I did feel it was rolled slightly poor considering that the filling started spilling out the second I picked it up but other than that it was good. Also ordered the dduk boki and I definitely expected there to be more dduk it but sadly it was mostly ramyun and fish cake. It had good flavor but I only got 4 pieces of dduk then a bunch of ramyun. I will probably try again at some point. Tl;dr- not great but worth a shot. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I had ordered it for delivery from a third party site. I tried my best to not base my review off of that. I definitely would have handled the situation differently had I been in-store. read more

After a week of eating mostly meat, I was looking forward to having a delicious vegetable based meal after going to the museum. This place definitely satisfied. I got the k-bop, which was a nice surprise. Very delicious and nutritious. My only complaint is that my bibimbop came in a paper bowl so it didn't have that crusty rice on the bottom that I totally love, but I get that they want to use disposable bowls. I ordered the spicy chicken bibimbap and was not disappointed, I also ordered pork katsu kimbop to share with friends and it was fantastic. The bibimbap is around 8-9 dollars and kimbop ranging from 7-7.50. They also have milk teas starting at 2.70 which is cheaper than their competitors. I had the chicken Katsu bowl and the dduki bokii. It was honestly a waste of money. The chicken katsu was super bland. The dduki bokii was literally disgusting. There was soggy pot stickers that seemed like they were sitting in there for who knows how long. The boiled egg was old. The flavoring of it in general was sweet and fishy. The rice noodles tasted like frost bite. I don't know about other things on the menu but I won't be coming back. read more
