Pork Don Katsu Bowl (feat. bug)

Roach in the pork katsu bowl- embedded in the fried breading. Ate 20% of the bowl before found the bug.

Beef Bulgogi Bowl, Spicy Chicken Bulgogi Bowl

although there are better places out there, this place is filled with memories for me. late night studying were always fueled by their beef bulgogi bowl - rice and japchae noodles mixed with sweet and savory bulgogi. good enough for two meals and will always take me back! the chicken meat tastes a little strange though *.*

Kimbap sounds good to me, often. We always seem to leave our own sriracha bottle behind when we think about eating Kimbap. Small place inside, two 4 top and some counter seats along two sides of the wall. Street paid parking is supposedly available, but nothing was open. There is supposed to be an Air Garage parking a block away, but not seeing an entrance, so not super convenient for grabbing carry out much. By the University of Texas at Austin. My husband's patience is wearing thin as we do loops to find parking and keep running into one ways to get to where we want. Finding street parking but requires UT permit parking, which we clearly don't have at all. Finally found street parking a couple of blocks away. Order and pay at the kiosk. We grabbed 3 tuna Kimbap, added jalapeño and kimchi, original Kimbap and tteokbokki with extra rice cake and dumplings. Order number 92, sent us a text with the receipt. $54.62 Warning the extra spicy was too spicy for me, made eating the Tteokbokki rather painful. Most of the rice cake was overcooked and mushy, except for one piece that was super hard for some reason. The dumplings fell apart on us. The hard boiled eggs were good. The Tteokbokki was just average. The tuna and original Kimbaps are both pretty good, some bites were bigger than others, the ends mostly. The rolls are nicely packed and full. The Kimbaps are a solid 4.

This hole in the wall restaurant has some incredible Korean food! Located on the drag, it is frequented by UT students. I can see why business is booming during peak hours because the food is absolutely phenomenal. It's a small little restaurant but very well kept and clean. The owner was there and he is a nice guy. Quick and quality service all around. I enjoyed the kimbap and Dduk boki. The Dduk boki had just the right spicy kick to it and had eggs and fish cakes in it. If you're in the mood for some great Korean food, this is the place to visit. I can't wait to try more of the yummy dishes on the menu.

Beef Bulgogi Bowl

Came here for a late lunch, ordered a beef bulgugi bowl and it came out pretty quick. I loved that there's noodles mixed with rice and an egg inside the bowl - the sauce is delicious and it def enhance the beef. The price is decent for the portion and I think I will return in the future!

Kimbap and Taro Milk Tea with Boba

This really hit the spot for me! I don't often get Korean food and if I do, it's usually just KBBQ or a bulgogi bowl. But I love a good kimbap and it's rare to find a shop that sells it near home. When visiting Austin, for some reason I was craving Korean food. They are located along a row full of Asian food spots. Kiosk for easy ordering. Great service. I wished I ordered ordered more food but this was filling enough for dinner.

This was a great place to eat before an event downtown. Fast service and yummy food! We will check it out again when we are back in Austin.

Lunch plate with seaweed

No bathrooms (that i saw, but I grabbed something to go so I'm not positive). No parking. It's off the street so street parking or parking at the dominos or co-op parking a few blocks up the street. This is not a gluten free facility. I had the lunch plate with rice, egg, kimchi, and spicy chicken. There was a couple of pot stickers but I didn't eat them, but they looked great! I also got some boba and milk tea. Friendly service and quick too! Very good food and spicy chicken was mild spice for my spice loving people!

Fried Dumpling

A really simple Korean restaurant on UT campus. There's street parking. The food menu is small and affordable. I tried their Kimbop, fried dumpling, and dduk boki. I dip my fried dumplings into the dduk boki. All of them were good!

Tteokbokki
M N.

Not bad Not bad. I was really craving some tteokbokki and if you don't know, they're basically thick fat noodles (rice cakes) that are simmered in a thick spicy and kind of sweet sauce, effing delicious. With some of that cheese on top, chefs kiss. If you can get those added extras, with fish cakes, noodles, etc. even better. The dishes here aren't too pricey but they do give you pretty nice size portions. Meat was good, rice, egg. No complaints, I'd probably come back here again if I'm ever in the area! This shop is small, but there are a couple of tables inside. The hardest part of this journey would probably be the parking, especially if it was on a busy day. There are paid parking slots and a garage available, it isn't too bad.

Don (Pork) Katsu Kimbop

This is a gem in San Marcos! We came here on our way to visit a friend out in wimberly. We were hungry and decided to get some Korean that day. The place itself is a bit small but enough seating for a crowd. The environment is cute and nicely decorated. The food is amazing! I had gotten the Don Katsu Kimbop and it was to die for! So much flavor and the eel sauce is always a great touch on top. It was very filling so depending on your hunger level, you may have some leftovers for later. My gf had gotten the beef bulgogi kimbop I believe and that was fantastic as well. The rice is super sticky which I loved! Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you're in the mood for Korean. You will not be disappointed.

Beef Bulgogi Bowl & Boba milk tea
Maria R.

Ever since Fall 2018, I've been a huge fan of this place! I order my usual milk tea and beef bulgogi bowl and it's always been so yummy. The owner is super sweet and cares about his customers. Ambiance is very happy and although it's small, it's v nice and intimate for convos and good lunches or dinners.

Elizabeth M.

I had high hopes for this place because it was recommended by a friend but it was just average... like, really, really average. It's edible and will fill you up cause they have decent sized servings but it's the kind of place you go to when you don't have options and know you won't leave hungry. I don't see myself going out of my way to return but if I'm in the area, hungry and looking for a quick, okay meal, I just might. The staff is nice. You place orders at the station and the staff brings you your food if it's to go or call out for you to go grab it if you're eating there. It seemed clean.

Feels quite safe as well. We waited about 10 minutes, so they're clearly popular. Service was great, they were quick to refill our banchan small dishes, and portions were quite large too. Banchan included potatoes, japchae, octopus, kimchi, and purple rice, which was a nice touch. I don't usually love purple rice, but this was good. No fried fish like some other spots offer, but everything else more than made up for it. Decor is simple and bright inside. Beef Tofu Soondobu, Spicy Level 6 ($18, 8/10) - Pretty solid soondobu, comes with mushroom in the standard option, which was an interesting touch - Portion of beef was moderate - Spice level 6 was tolerable, not overwhelming (though I'm not great at judging spice levels, so probably could've gone higher) - Lots of tofu in the bowl, really enjoyed this - roth flavor was great, not the best ever, but definitely not the worst Overall, really enjoyed this spot. Feels like a mom and pop kind of place, great service, great banchan flavor, and probably one of the best soondobu spots in Austin. Would definitely come back.

Although I wasn't a fan of the batter, it wasn't a big deal. Good with rice and onions add freshness! Short Rib 4/5 This has a lighter flavor. The first time I went it wasn't great because it was chewy but the second time I went it was delicious! Steamed Egg 2/5 Although this was hot and soft, there was no flavor at all other than egg. I wouldn't get it again. Kimchi Pancake 4/5 This was crispy and good but it was a bit doughy and it needs more kimchi. The sauce was yummy though! I like vinegar flavors so this sauce was more salty than tangy. It also had a yummy onion flavor. Pork Belly 5/5 Although this came plain and seems like not much, it was actually very delicious! The pork belly was juicy, tender, and it had a nice fat flavor. Yang Dak 5/5 This is a very saucy, sweet, savory, and delicious dish! I enjoyed the fried rice cakes that came with it, and the sauce added so much to it! The radish was bitter but I'm not sure if there was something wrong with my tastebuds. The flavor was sweet, savory, and very gochujang. Juicy and crispy! Kimchi Stew 5/5 This kimchi stew is fresh, spicy, salty, tangy, and everything needed after a long day! Honestly, the personal serving was big and enough for 3 people. Definitely try this out! Good vibes at night, good service, not bad prices compared to nearby places, check it out!

I don't believe they do reservations but shortly after we were sat there was a waiting line. The restaurant was at full capacity with people at the sushi bar and regular tables. When entering you were promptly greeted and the staff was friendly. We ordered: * Chirashi - 5/5 super fresh sashimi and the presentation was beautiful. The bowl came with some pickled onion and cucumber of some sort. Served with a salad and seaweed paper * spicy pork - 5/5 it's not blow your head off spicy on the first bite but the more you eat the spicier it gets. I was making me break a sweat! This paired really well with the banchan. It's served with a bowl of rice. * complimentary banchan- 4/5 kimchi, seasoned onion, fish cakes, and an elbow salad . The kimchi and seasoned onion were my favorites. The fish cake was ok but it was a bit fishy. The elbow salad was bland. These banchan came in small little bowls and we had to ask our waiter to refill the banchan since there was 4 of us. * unagi nigiri- 5/5 the unagi was so good! One of the best unagi I had in a while! It was the perfect amount of sauce and I wish I would have ordered another one. * hotate nigiri- 5/5 like wow! I was pleasantly surprise the freshness of the scallop and it just melted in your mouth. It was smoky and idk what sauce they brushed the scallop with but it made the perfect bite. I also wished I ordered a second one of these. * salmon nigiri- 4/5- it was a good salmon nigiri. Wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good Note: I originally wanted to get their big spread bento box with all different types of Korean food that they had when they first open. But I was sad and disappointed to hear they had discontinue that. The only bento box presentation they do is the sushi. I really kicked myself for not coming sooner when they had that so I can try a little bit of everything they had on the menu with the large bento box spread. Do I recommend this place?
