I made arrangements for K - 9 Behavior to provide training services for my 2 Doberman puppies in early March 2011. I gave them 50 % down ($750)per their request by have received NO SERVICES from them as of today April 2nd 2011. This company was contacted numerous time and asked for a date they would provide training and they never would provide one. When I finally asked for a refund I received more "promises" than money. I adopted a Siberian Husky mix, Seberus, from a friend who was forced to give Seberus up after he bit several neighbors. Seberus terrorized my two dogs, and he bit everyone in my family plus my neighbor. Veterinarians and an animal behavior specialist told us Seberus was a dangerous dog and he should be euthanized. PLEASE do NOT send your dog to K-9 Behavior Services. This is a TRUE review and can be verified as there was a report made with the Humane Society of Ventura County on August 1, 2014 (case A14-003426) after I came unannounced to pick up my dog from this facility where Jeremy did not want to give me my dog initially. Jeremy only gave me my dog as I had a retired police chief with me. My dog was emaciated and in very poor condition. After seeing her in horrible condition we took her immediately to her vet who stated in an open letter that her condition was poor and consistent with abuse. She lost 16 lbs. in less than 3 weeks. Her coat was falling out in clumps and she had unexplained wounds on her neck and sores on her legs. Her condition was rated as poor by her vet. This case was submitted to the District Attorney's office on November 14, 2014 for animal cruelty charges by the Humane Society of Ventura County. He also had a judgement against him in small claims court for the cost of the vet bills incurred to return her to health after his abuse (Ventura County case # 56-2014-00458751-sc-sc-vta) . What a saving grace Jeremy was at K9 Behavior. I own a pitbull that had turned extremely human and dog aggressive. I originally gave my dog to another trainer who was suppose to be "Aggressive dog" expert. Stephanie and Jeremy are both amazing trainers that definitely earned my trust. Our german shepherd(Bella) is just over a year now and she completed K9's Doggy BootCamp a couple months ago. Before going she was the typical out of control german shepherd puppy, nipping, jumping, barking, chasing the cat etc. She was mostly ok around other people but would lunge/bark at any other dog that came near us on our daily walks. Seeing how dogs reacted to the trainers and looking at their facilities was a major prerequisite for me. Jeremy and Stephanie took nearly 2 hours out of their sunday to walk us around the ranch, answer all our questions, and show us how they train their dogs. I liked their honesty and that the dogs they were training were happy and healthy, didn't show any fear around the trainers. We left still unsure about it, and they didn't try any hard sell. When we decided to go for it, they boarded Bella for 4 weeks, then met with us every week for four weeks after bringing her back(they trained us just as well as her!) I couldn't be happier with the results, her good behavior at home reduces SO much household stress, and we can trust her to listen to us even in stressful situations, like walking around Oldtown Pasadena mid-day Saturday, and around other out of control dogs. K9's method of boarding and training the dog and then training the owners how to handle the dog made for a well trained dog, and a much better bond between Bella and us. Before training Bella was very anxious and reacted badly to most new stimuli, but now she is happy and excited to be in new situations with us because she understands how to handle them and trusts us to handle her. We sent our dog to K-9 Behavior Services in May 2014. He is a German Shepard and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix that had major aggression issues. We feared he would really hurt someone or a dog if he got out so we lived in fear of him making it out the door and we have young kids so it's a very real possibility. The mailman had given us a notice that the door must be closed (not just screen door) or else we would have to pick up our mail at the post office. Rexx would also try to jump over the wall to attack the neighbors dog. He probably would have killed that dog if he made it over. He was always full of anxiety, fear and aggression. He would bark all night, even if it was just a leaf falling. He was far from obedient and a large strong dog that was difficult to handle physically. Rexx kept us in a constant state of fear and stress. We were at our wits end thinking we may have to put him down. I did a lot of research and felt Jeremy and Stephanie were our best option. They sent someone to get Rexx and let us know up front that no news is good news. Well we still called a couple of times cause my dogs are like my kids. If Stephanie wasn't there she would immediately get back to us with updates. Also I asked for them to post a pic of him on their Facebook for me which they did. It was hard not having him around for so long but the bigger picture needed to be kept in mind. Our dog apparently is very stubborn and he ended up staying there for 3 months, at no extra charge. They kept him until they truly felt he was ready to come home. Now that he is home, what a difference! He is so obedient but still his goofy self. He could care less about the mail man or the dog next door. Don't get me wrong, he will still guard our house but only true possible threats. We can now also leave the door open while bringing in groceries! He no longer tries to bolt out the front door. He lays on his "place" until told otherwise. K-9 Behavior Services literally saved Rexx's life and our sanity. I cannot thank them enough for all the time and extra effort that I know they put into our dog. Let's start by saying how grateful I am to have found Stephanie and Jeremy at K9 behavior services to help me with my very difficult dog (pit mix) who I rescued 3 years ago from almost being a "bait" dog for dog fighting. When I first got her at 8-months old I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but being the animal lover that I am and seeing that this dog needed help desperately without many other options for a decent life, I took on the challenge. Needless to say over the past 3 years I have struggled, cried and stressed out over how to deal with this very strong, energetic, intelligent and aggressive dog. I tried it all over the 3-years...training classes, agility classes, private home training, positive reinforcement training, dog day care (i.e. she got "kicked out"), crating, muzzles, pinch collars...you name it. But, sadly her behavior progressively worsened over time and her aggression grew as my ability to manage it reduced. As a last resort, I found Stephanie and Jeremy at K9 behavior services with a positive reference from a good friend who had also sent her dog to them. I decided that I had to do something drastic to SAVE this dog's life because despite the strife and heartache, I love her. Stephanie and Jeremy were extremely professional from day one and demonstrated a knowledge and ability to deal with dogs with aggression like mine. Although, she was only supposed to be with them for 4-6 weeks, they kept her for 9 weeks without charging extra as she was a very "difficult case" and they wouldn't bring her home until they felt they had done everything and anything they could to ensure success when she returned home. They knew the severity of the situation, that this training was really to SAVE this dog's life. They kept me updated on her progress on a weekly basis while she was away. I felt confident in their knowledge and care of my dog. When she returned home after 9-weeks of intensive training, they spent 2 hrs with me and my dog, and were even willing to train and work with my dog walker. They worked diligently with me to teach all the training tools and commands without leaving until they felt I knew how to manage the aggression. They are always available to contact with questions and/or concerns and I felt very supported in this venture. Jeremy was our last resort and we are so thankful to him! Our German Shepherd, Daisy, was an unexpected addition to our already-full household. My teenage daughter had 'rescued' her and brought her home. Since we love animals, we really wanted to make it work, but Daisy was difficult to live with. Little background on my situation, I have a year and a half old German shepherd (Rex). He provided and trained my first Service Animal, Anton (RIP) as well as my current Service Animal, Couguar K-9 (9 years old in Sept; 8 years with me). My dog Daisy was an adorable, but crazy disaster before sending her with Jeremy. I had a ton of issues with her pulling on the leash, jumping on everyone in sight, chasing other dogs and overall listening and following commands. She is a St. Bernard so the jumping and pulling started getting really out of hand. I had spent sooo much money with dog trainers including in home dog trainers and nothing seemed to work. At this point I began to research local doggy boot camps and luckily came across Jeremy at K-9 Behavior Services. Jeremy is so awesome and nice and very trustworthy. I definitely missed Daisy but not for one moment did I worry that she was not in good hands. I would watch her stories on instagram and see her progress as she progressed through this training. When Daisy got home, Jeremy spent sooo much time settling Daisy back into my home as well as teaching me how to talk to her, hold the leash, commands he had taught her and so fourth. Daisy is still her crazy self but LISTENS and finally follows commands. She walks right beside me now on walks and I no longer have to worry when there are other humans or dogs in sight. She knows to go to her place when I tell her and follows basic commands perfectly. Before I sent her, I was very nervous about her personality changing or her coming back skittish and just not herself. This is definitely NOT the case. Daisy has the same cute and crazy personality. She is just more behaved now and knows when it's time to calm down and/or when I say it's time to go to her place etc. I HIGHLYYY recommend Jeremy. I just wanted to say thank you... tonight I effortlessly walked our Great Dane and our Dalmatian to the post office (an almost 2 mile trip) alone as my boyfriend was at work. On the way I had time to reflect on how far these dogs had really come as well my relationship with them. There was a time I couldn't even imagine being able to do what I did tonight with one of them, much less both of them together. In fact, as you may recall there was a time when they couldn't even be in the same room together... but all that changed when we met you. Tonight, I had the dogs I'd always dreamed of. Not only did they walk beside me well (at one point I even threw the ends of the leashes over my shoulder and walked virtually "hand free"!) but they remained in a perfect heel even as we approached the post office and found a cat lurking in the bushes! I realize that this didn't happen by accident and that a lot of hard work on both your and my boyfriend's part took place before I could enjoy an outing like tonight, I just wanted you both to know I am appreciating the fruits of your labor every time I spend time with these dogs...I once told you that I had a personal goal of being able to walk my dog downtown and enjoy a cup of coffee. I want you to know that I have reached that goal and so much more because of what you have taught all of us. Every single minute I spend in the presence of these dogs has been influenced by you. I am able not only to walk them down the street with confidence but I can take them in a car, to the vet, to other people's homes and have people visit in my home because they truly exemplify what being a "canine good citizen" is all about. Fantastic place, wonderful staff, amazing results. We sent our 3 year old Frenchie to K9 Behavior for his separation anxiety, amongst other ticks. He came back a calm, well mannered dog that didn't bark at the door every time there was a noise, didn't pull on the leash and was just overall a much happier boy. I REALLY hope anyone reading these reviews does their own investigating and find out for your selves that Jeremy and Stephanie are 2 of the most professional individuals around. And 'JEANINE I" Your VET as you stated said your dog was in poor shape CONSISTENT with abuse!! I have no doubt your dogs condition was also consistent with many other things. LIKE TRAINING CAN BE STRESSFUL on dogs!! Not always on every dog but YES some dogs get stressed more easily then others. NEW EVIROMENT, if your dog is used to being in a house and having run of you and your home and all of a sudden its going through crate training, spending time in a kennel and having to learn a new way of doing things!!! Since that time, I decided that I needed a protection dog as the type of work I do can put me at risk and often finds me in the company of some questionable people. I now have my 2nd dog, only this guy is bigger and a little more intimidating then my Aussie. Jeremy is now training my new boy for protection work. This brings me to the ranch now once a week. I see them all working, training and interacting with all the dogs. AT NO TIME have I EVER seen anything even close to abuse, in fact quite the opposite. Those dogs are all treated very very well. Francisco one of the employees there takes his job very serious and is always making sure each and every dog has everything they need. I am and always have been an animal lover, have had horses and dogs most of my life. Worked for large and small animal Vets... I have worked with many rescues and in the job I am in now I have had the unfortunate opportunity to see what REAL abuse is. I honestly don't even know where to begin...Jeremy at K9 Behavior Services is not only one of the most genuine, authentic, and enjoyable people I've met, but he improved my four legged child (dog's) life. I have a Doberman Pinscher Rottweiler mix and sent her to him when she was 6 months old. They are supposed to be obedient dogs, but I allowed her to sort of lose control without boundaries and she was wild to say the least. I am a college student and the dog is practically a small horse so if I couldn't control her I'd have to give her away. I was skeptical about sending my dog to training with a stranger because I don't like some of the rudimentary practices of other trainer's by dominating the dogs and making them obedient by fear or punishment. Jeremy's technique and style was kind, compassionate, and understanding; he allowed the dog to make mistakes but followed up with correction. The E-collar is amazing as well, but it takes skill to properly use and enforce it. This dog training boot camp enabled me to control my dog and enjoy spending time with her on and off the leash without fear of her spazzing out and dragging me along (she's very strong). I am so grateful for Jeremy/K9 Behavior Services for treating my dog with respect and kindness; when I picked her up after 3 weeks she was excited to see me but sad to leave! Their property is perfect for animals and gives them room to explore. There are so many great things to say about this company I don't know where to start. My boyfriend and I inquired with Jeremy and Stephanie in 2011 when our dogs (at that time 2 year old male dogs, one lab and the other border collie mix) started to fight shortly after we moved in with each other. The first fight ended at the vet with a $1000 vet bill, stitches and drains... it was bad. I thought if we kept them separated at meal times, we could avoid the fights. 6 months later a similar fight occurred and another $1000 vet bill was paid with more stitches and drains. We clearly had no control over our dogs. We knew that they were sweet and loving animals because before we moved in with each other we never encountered these problems with the pups. We tried at home training, youtube videos, and the typical training practices people tend to do with their dogs, but nothing was working. They still showed aggression toward each other and now other dogs as well, walks seemed impossible as they would pull all over the place, and having crazy rules like not having people knock on the door and having the screen door always shut so they couldn't see outside was our norm.Our daily life with our dogs was tense and not fun. 2 years of this behavior continued and finally in 2013 we called Jeremy and Stephanie and signed Luka and tare up for 'Doggie Bootcamp'. May I add that in 2011 I was a recent college grad and didn't have the funds to pay for bootcamp at that time. Over the course of those 2 years, i emailed Jeremy a couple times when I needed advice on caring for the dogs and he always responded. I was not a paying customer at this time and he still took the time to give me his advice- I always appreciated that. Luka and Trae went to the ranch in September of 2013 and were under their care for about 8 weeks. When they returned to us I was SHOCKED (to say the least). Our dogs were still their goofy loving selves, but they LISTENED and had respect for our commands. We had our drop off and all follow up trainings with Stephanie and she is a dog-genious! We just loved her. She took the time to go over all new skills and listened to all our concerns. I will admit, I was hesitant and resistant to use the ecollars but we tried them on ourselves and weren't hurt by them (it was uncomfortable, but no pain). After a week of having them home, I was comfortable using the collars because I knew it was a correction tool. Our daily life now consists of being able to have people over and have them on their 'place' and not causing a mess, someone can ring out doorbell and they don't go ballistic, we are able to go on walks and THEY DO NOT PULL ON LEASH (this is something I thought to be impossible for years) and best of all we are able to live a relaxed life at home with our dogs. We are able to still spoil and love our dogs, but treat them like dogs. I love Luka and Trae like they are my fur-babies but at the end of the day treating them like a dog and not human is the way to have a healthy, fun relationship with them. I cannot express my gratitude enough for Stephanie, Jeremy, and the K9 Behavior team. They have truly changed our lives for the better. Yes, their services are pricey but I had already exceeded the cost of bootcamp with vet bills. Jeremy worked with me in making payments and always communicated promptly via email and phone while they were away. I recommend this team to ANYONE looking to train their furry friends. My husband and I decided an Autism Service Dog would change the life of our son, who is eight. I researched many of the companies that offer Autism Service Dogs and spoke to many of them on the phone - and in my searches I was recommended to Jeremy Talamantes at K9 Behavior Services. As soon as I spoke to him on the phone, I knew I had found the person I wanted to train a dog for our family. I have now known Jeremy for 8 months and it has been such a pleasure getting to know him and seeing him work. During the many months of training, Jeremy explained everything to me so I could understand how things would work. He also asked if I would regularly bring my son to his ranch to interact with our dog so that Jeremy could watch them together and get to know my son so as to better understand what we needed. Jeremy and his partner, Stephanie, are so incredibly knowledgeable about dog behavior, it's fantastic to watch them work. They are kind to all of the dogs they work with, look after them perfectly and train them impeccably,. Also, as an added bonus, most of the Service Dogs they train have been either rescued or donated, which is great. Our dog was only 11 months when Jeremy and his trainers (specifically the wonderful Francisco) started working with him, so we were able to see him grow and develop over the next few months as he matured - and through it all he was clearly happy and well looked after - and I would watch him in his training sessions with a happily wagging tail. Jeremy is a brilliant trainer, I am so impressed with him, with seeing how kind yet consistent he was with our dog - he so understood our dog's behaviours. Our dog is now home with us and is SPECTACULAR! I could not ask for more in a Service Dog. He is literally the best dog I have ever ever met - he's sweet, smart, incredibly obedient, gentle with my son, playful when we ask him to be, perfect at all the tasks he is trained for. He is a delight. Also, after Jeremy had finished training our dog, he patiently instructed me in how to continue working with our dog and get the best from him - he then followed up with home visits, and still continues to monitor our progress. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! We have 3 beautiful dogs, 1 female and 2 males. The males started fighting over the female sometimes, so we decided to leave our babies with them thinking that will help with the problem. After thousands of dollars and 21 days our dogs were returned to us with all of bruises, holes in their necks from pulling on chock collar so hard. they were completely emaciated, scared, skinny. We couldn't believe our eyes. The problem was still there, even worse. Now, not only we had to deal with their aggression sometimes, now they became very nervous dogs. We could tell the dogs were kept in a small plastic crates for hours and hours a day because the hair on their ankles were completely gone and covered in bruises and blood. We visited their site ones and their dogs were kept in cages for hours because when they took one out to show how disciplined it was, it took the poor dog a good 5 min to pee. You could tell he hasn't been out for a while. Besides, it looked like he would perform the commands out of terror, but not out of the respect for them! it took a lot of care and love to bring our dogs to a normal state. A healthy habits and lots of exercise to fix the problem. You don't need their help, find a more human way to train your dogs. We have pictures to prove, and we never paid the second half of the money and they never came back for it. After seeing the pictures we send them they were too scared to go after it. After trying several different training programs with our 1 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, Roxy, with little success, we decided to put Roxy in the month long bootcamp training program at K-9 behavior services this last summer. Rhodesians are known for their intelligence and strong will. Prior to the bootcamp, Roxy was impossible on walks and quite disrespectful in our home, especially with our kids. After a month with Stephanie and Jeremy she truly came back a new dog. She is extremely respectful and pleasant around our home. Walks are a dream now. She is still very happy and playful, but extremely obedient. One of the highlights of the program was Stephanie and Jeremy's investment into teaching us how to work with Roxy and continue her training at home. I really have nothing negative to say about the program - it was the best investment we could have made with our dog and has helped us to truly enjoy having her in our family. read more

Wow, did Stephanie and Jeremy help us! We had lost our German Shepherd after 12 years and were simply devastated. After mourning for half a year we decided to dip our toe in the water check out a Rottweiler breeder. Somehow, that day we came home with a handsome and seemingly well behaved 15 week old Rottie puppy. Within a week we were pulling out our hair. The puppy was chewing, peeing, and generally creating havoc in our house. It got so bad that my endlessly patient wife looked at me and said we needed help. She was right. Our vet recommended Stephanie and I called her immediately. After speaking to her and Jeremy I felt a huge sense of relief. They picked up our Dog later that week and he was gone for a month. Every week received detailed reports and when they delivered him home to us he was a different dog. He listened to our commands- but more importantly, he had a sense of calm that made him a delight. We had concerns that the training might break his spirt or impact his "playful" nature. But the training didn't do any of those things. I took my dog to K-9 behavior services because my dog had aggression issues. He is a pit bull rescue and although he is extremely sweet and loving with my family, he does not take well to other animals and has severe protection issues in and around our home. I needed professional help and so I called K-9 Behavior Services. From the beginning, the staff at K-9 explained to me what was possible in terms of mitigating my dog's aggression issues and what to expect from the training. Instead of giving me some sales pitch, they told me there would be a limit to what they could do based on my dog's personality. Although I was supposed to leave my dog with them for only 6 weeks, they kept the dog for almost 4 months at NO EXTRA CHARGE! They did everything in their power to help me get my dog's aggression under control. Their follow-up visits were also very helpful and professionally conducted. All in all, these guys (and girls) are straight shooters and they actually care about the animals that they are training. I would recommend this service to anyone, especially those whose pets have aggression issues. read more
