I cannot speak highly enough about Matan's Dog Training! We were referred here by a friend before getting a puppy and it was the best decision we could have made for our dog! She participated in their board and train program at three months old. Tiffany was wonderful with her and taught her so much at such a young age! Our puppy still goes there weekly to attend training sessions, day camp, and get groomed. It is a one stop shop for all your dog needs, but most importantly the quality is unmatched. The staff there is so attentive and their communication skills leave us feeling heard and informed. I really cannot speak highly enough of everyone there at Matan's Dog Training!

It's a no frills spot where dogs are the focus. Our giant schnauzer has been coming to Matan since he was 6 months old, first as a rambunctious and naughty puppy, and now as a well adjusted and happy dog, all thanks to their training. He often walks in like he owns the place and just adores every single person there; the grooming is also just as amazing as the training! This is also the only place our spoiled rotten 13 year old Pomeranian will tolerate boarding when we travel...

Can't teach an old dog new tricks, think again! My dog Reggie is an 8 yr 2mo. old German shepherd whom I've had for his entire life and has been mainly untrained. His behavioral issues have included leash pulling, impulse control, aggression/ resource guarding on pillows/cushions, extreme reactivity towards other dogs & excessive barking. In fear I'd have to cross the street anytime a dog was walking towards us; he'd pull Like a reindeer anytime he saw a squirrel or a rabbit, jump on house guests and aggressively bark at the Neighbors dog through the fence. I procrastinated like a college student on getting training in his earlier years and thought I could tolerate this for the duration of his life as I'd heard there's little obedience training you can do for senior dogs (Little did I know). I finally hit my wits end deciding It's not fair to me or to Reggie so I took him to Matan whom I met as a client a year ago. Reggie went on a 4 week board and train which allowed me to take a much needed vacation. I was sent regular updates on his progress and within a week he seemed like a new dog being highly motivated by food as well as following basic commands. By week two I was surprised to see him walking (heel position) & training side by side with another dog with no reactivity. The trainer Benny in the video is a dog whisperer. Week 3 & 4 he's learning to stay in place/recall with other distractions and Matan even took him to a mall which is something I thought I'd never be able to do. The game changer has been his engagement with me and by the end of the program I know I'm totally relaxed with him and as a result he trusts me. Now after the training, As Matan says this is the Dojo, real world will be different. The Training builds the ship for you but you still have to do the work. For the first time I know what work to do, immediately correcting some of the old bad behaviors and reinforcing/rewarding the good obedience. It's a new lifestyle and I'm enjoying all parts of it. Can't recommend Matan and his team enough! Don't wait like I did..

Where do I start. This training center is AMAZING. It's LIFE CHANGING. It's out of this world FABULOUS. After trying a few private trainers, I had given up all hopes of ever getting my furry baby to socialize and be calm and happy around strangers. I would look on enviously and longingly at other happy doggies and desperately wish the same for my Pepper. I met Matan accidentally. Beware - he's not a salesman. He won't push you to buy sessions. He won't convince you that it's doomsday if you don't train with him. He'll want to know how to help you because that's what he does best - help you and your fur baby navigate the world in a calmer, happier manner. Amelia was assigned to us and she is OUTSTANDING. Super patient, super proficient, super understanding, oh I could go on and on about how fabulous she is with Pepper. At the end of our privates, Pepper even decided that he liked her so much as to wag his tail off and cuddle with her. If you're on the fence, don't be. This place is amazing. I'm so grateful to Heather who has to be the nicest person I've ever met - always professional and always ready to help. Matan and his team are rock stars. Highly highly highly highly recommend.

When is summer camp at Matan?

My Cane Corso absolutely loves this place! They treat him like an equal and expect good behavior in return. I secretly think he looks forward to a summer board and train!

I felt this training program was ok for the basics. I enrolled my 7 month old dog in the $2400 two week Board and Train and told them I really wanted to focus on dog aggression and reactivity. Let's start with some good stuff. They taught my dog all the basics. Sit, stay, come, heel, out, place. He does well with those and seemed to learn them quick. His leash manners were excellent before he was enrolled in the training, since I walked and biked with him multiple times a day. He has been out for about 3 weeks and follows the commands well. I still train him daily as a refresher, and as time goes on, he is getting better and better. Now some of my not so great experience. About 3 days into the training they contacted me saying they were concerned about my dogs couch and said it may be because he was barking so much. It may have been the new environment, since my dog rarely barks at home. I had to take him out of classes and bring him to the vet to get checked. He was given the all clear and returned a day later. THEN my dog caught Kennel Cough about a week in, and was out for two weeks on antibiotics. So his two week training was broken up into four weeks overall. It kind of ruined his momentum. When I picked him up, Spencer mentioned a week before another dog had to go home because of kennel cough. I think this was a rare occurrence. The facility is fairly clean. I am sure things like this happen when there are several dogs in one area. Kind of like when your kid gets sick at school. It is not he schools fault. They did add an extra day onto the training, but that was not really much. While my dog was recovering, I still noticed how reactive he was with other dogs during his vet visits, so when I brought him back, I asked that they please focus more on his reactivity. No fault of the trainers in this case, as I now realize they seem to have a set program that they follow, and don't seem to stray too far from it. When I picked him up, they went over the commands with me and it went well. He was focused and following commands through the session. I asked them what could be done about the dog aggression and reactivity and they said the doggy day care may be a good option, and that they would check with Spencer (who runs the daycare) to see if my dog would be a good fit. Spencer said that my dog would not be a food fit because he barks too much. Ummm...ok...I guess? What are some other options? They then mentioned one on one classes where they could focus on my dog and slowly bring in other dogs to see what the issues were. In the end they said my dog was not aggressive, but just reactive. Well, I wish I would known this in the beginning because I would have gladly spent 3k on one on one training instead of $2400 on a two week board and train I probably could have done myself. If you are looking to Matan Dog Training for the basics, go ahead and enroll in the two week board and train. But, if you need something more specific, I would go with their one on one training. If you have a highly driven dog like myself, I would definitely make it crystal clear to their staff what you want and make sure they feel comfortable handling them. I am now in the difficult position of trying to deal with my dogs reactivity. I know they are familiar with my dog there, and would be good candidates in working with his reactivity. At the same time, I am not sure I am confident in their ability to handle such a highly driven dog. From what I have seen, they seem to be ok with the basics, but have not done much about his reactivity and did not really have any sort of info about how they would resolve his reactivity aside from enrolling in the one on one classes.

My fur son on day one . It's been very rough leaving him but I know he is going to learn a lot and will be happier

My fur son is currently being trained at this location and boarded . The entire staff from the owner , manager and training manger have been great . I am not use to being away my dog but I am confident this is going to improve the quality of his life. They keep me informed and update to date with videos as they train him. I am a bit sad having left him but I know it's a good decision . Who better to train him than expert trainers

I truly can't say enough about Matan's dog training! My husband and I were in a bind, and we have been to other local doggy daycare facilities nearby, and there was always something missing. The staff are also incredible and I absolutely love the individual attention that each fur baby gets! They are great about sending videos to keep owners in the loop on their social and training progress! This was truly the perfect solution for our full-time schedules! Gigi has the best time and her trainer, Michael, is absolutely incredible! There are times we will watch some of the videos together and you just here Gigi get so excited when she hears Michael's voice! She starts looking all over the place for him! The handwritten daycare reports are such a beautiful touch! This staff truly cares and there's no question you're precious pet will be treated like family, when in their care! It's never overcrowded, and it doesn't smell, funky! Dogs are taken out on walks individually during their daycare experience, so it really resembles what it's like being at home vs just having the freedom to go any and everywhere. I love that the facility is indoors and clean. There's no worrying on those hot days or in the rare event that we get rain, that my Gigi girl will be in a comfortable space. They have such an incredible obstacle course they train the dogs to run through, and they time them for a challenge so they can track their progress as they get faster and faster! It's the cutest thing ever to watch! Especially, when they send you videos! I've literally visited all of the doggy camps in Conejo Valley and Matan's dog training stands out as being far superior on every level and checks all the boxes! I'm so grateful to have found them!

This is our third time using Matan board & training and I just can't say enough good things about them! All of the trainers are great but I want to specifically call out Wyatt and Irene for their devotion and dedication to my dog's success. Simply put, he's a better dog for having spent some quality time there. He comes back as an easier dog to live with, and his training "crisper" but most importantly, I know how much care & love they devote to him. I never have to worry about his safety or happiness - in fact, he probably doesn't even notice he's not with me they keep him so busy! Lol!

We have seen a huge difference in our young rescue husky with just a few private and group lessons. Our trainer Benny is awesome!!!!! He adjusts the training to fit not only the dog but the owner so you are comfortable with the techniques. The group training has been so beneficial in getting our reactive girl around other dogs in a safe environment. The group trainers are quick to assist and help with the techniques to ensure you and your dog are succeeding. After a few private and group training sessions, I am more confident in how to manage and communicate with my girl in many different situations. This has created a real bond between us. Her reactivity is almost completely gone. We are enjoying it so much we are going to continue further training after our package is done. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very responsive. If you have specific issues with your pup I suggest the combo private and group training package. It's done wonders for us with our reactive husky. Thank you Benny and the Matan team!!

    Bella, Montgomery & Bacon

We sent our three dogs for the 2 week program as we were just fed up with the leash aggression of Montgomery(the white dog) and Bacon's(little dog) stranger aggression. Bella(the big brown dog) was already a great dog, but she could get riled up by the other two. Our dog pack was only as good as the weakest link(most of the time that was Bacon or Montgomery) It was a lot of money, but our dogs' behavior had us resenting them and we knew the dogs needed a full reset, in home lessons wasn't going to cut it. Today, our dogs are like different animals. On leash, the behavior has improved exponentially, no more pulling or insane dog aggression. At home, our little dog Bacon used to struggle with strangers, just insane barking and nipping at anyone, regardless of how often they came over. Right now we've got 4 kids at home on a playdate, the old Bacon would be losing her shit and attacking anyone she could get her hands on. New Bacon is being led around the house on her leash by my wife and hasn't barked at anyone yet. Obviously she still needs work and positive reinforcement but Matan & Co really laid a solid foundation of obedience and desensitization and after a couple training sessions with our dogs, my wife and I have the tools to get them the rest of the way there.

    Finley chilling!

I had been going to Zoom Room for over 2 years and had experienced some different trainers, some of whom were good, some bad. Finally, there was some consistency with an excellent trainer, Cari, and so I purchased an annual membership. Over the past year I had worked with Cari, who was fantastic. She had an amazing talent for knowing what you and your dog could handle and needed and she prioritized safety and the overall experience. Unfortunately, Cari left recently, and I have to imagine the owner had something to do with it, as clearly this location is horrendously mismanaged. There was a period of time where there were no classes available, and we were never told why. Then randomly they announced "new management" and brought in a trainer who had been shadowing Cari for just a few weeks as the new Manager and solo trainer. I had briefly worked with this trainer and I was not very impressed with his training skills. I did not feel like I would be making progress with my dog any more at this location, so I contacted the owner Diego asking for a partial refund. He talked disrespectfully about his previous employees, ranted about me not giving people a try, and raised his voice, berating me about "what if you signed up for a membership at a yoga studio and your favorite instructor left" among other things. During this rant he also shared that the trainers they get are untrained and uncertified and they go through some basic training before coming on board which does NOT inspire confidence in the future of this location. I have NEVER been spoken to in such a disrespectful, aggressive way as a customer. This franchise is clearly not well run. While they might find gems of trainers like Cari from time to time, you might also get stuck with untrained people.. or possibly even NO instructors. As another review mentions, consistency in trainer is absolutely critical to progress with your dog, and while I understand there is some employee turnover expected over time, this location has experienced too much turnover to be acceptable. I truly did love my experience with Zoom Room while Cari was there but now I highly recommend you save your money. It's not worth spending that much money to potentially have to keep working with different, random, possibly untrained employees and be talked down to by the franchise owner who really needs to hone his business and customer service skills.

I want the best for my puppies, so I asked so many different people where and how they trained their dogs. I received a few suggestions, but decided to do my own search...and I'm glad I did. Leo (Owner) and his amazing team of trainers TRULY care about the pups they train. Leo came to my home and wanted to meet me and my pups before I had to decide on making any decisions. After sitting down with him for about half an hour, I knew I found what I was looking for: Someone who wants me to have healthy and happy dogs. I signed up for the in-home training at first which is Leo coming to the house and training me on how to train my puppies (Archie and Charlie just turned 6 months and started with Leo and his team when they were 4.5). Very quickly, I realized I could not handle training both these puppies the way they needed to be trained. I discussed with Leo and decided to do a Board & Train. I like the schedule because I get to take the puppies on the weekends to spend time with me. Don't get me wrong, you NEED to train your pups on the weekends, but it's worth it and FUN. Archie has become the Puppy King (no offense to other puppies or their owners )). Charlie has a lot more energy, but has improved immensely! Leo's trainers are so caring. I feel my dogs get love with their training when they're not with me, and I couldn't ask for more. I see their excitement whenever I visit about improvements and milestones that Archie and Charlie achieved. They gleam with as much pride as I do. I honestly don't know where my pups OR I would be without the help of this AMAZING Team! If I could give 10 stars out of 5 stars, I would!

A week after we brought our adopted pitbull puppy home, we felt completely helpless when she…read morestarted peeing in the house, biting everything, crying in the crate nonstop, etc. We reached out to a few dog trainers on Yelp and Kelev K9 replied right away. A few minutes later Leo called us and asked questions about the situation. Some basic tips he gave us over the phone saved our sanity until he came to our house a few days later for a free consultation. The consultation made it clear how experienced and passionate Leo is about dog training, so we decided to sign with him that same day. After one session we felt much more confident in training our dog and saw the "light at the end of the tunnel". Over the past 5 months and four training sessions, we have seen day and night improvement in her behavior. If you feel lost and out of control with how to train your dog or want to continue their training, Kelev K9 should be your first call. Leo is always ready to help out with any questions or concerns we have by text or phone call. Pricing is also extremely fair and was a worthwhile investment for us because we have our sanity back and have bonded so deeply with our dog through training. Thank you so much Leo, Breanna, and the whole team at Kelev K-9!
