We rescued an adorable puppy in January after the sudden death of our 12 year old dog, little did we know he would be a holy terror to deal with, from having diarrhea for several weeks because of a chicken allergy, to jumping up, running out the front door, tearing the toilet paper off the roll, hanging on my bathrobe constantly, stealing everything he could and getting under the bed, not using grass but only the patio for his bathroom needs, stealing anything paper from you outta the blue like a flash, to never settling down. Then I was told about Time 4 Obedience and everything changed, Jennifer, Cindy and Daphne are all absolutely amazing at running their business and caring about you and your dog. They always have time to answer your phone calls, emails, answer any questions you have and fit you in when you need help with anything very quickly! Our little dog went from being a burden to the favorite family pet and has been labeled, "The Best Dog" but my grandchildren . Everyone says they can't believe how he has change. I must say that I have had many well behaved dogs in my years but this pup was a surprise of misbehaviors and I couldn't have fixed him without their help! I brought my unruly 18 month old nosework dog to T4O to help teach him some public manners. I cleared my training calendar and fully committed to the entire program, including hours and hours of "homework". At the end of class my boy was much better behaved although still a work in progress. Because he is a competition nosework dog, I don't correct him for sniffing. Sniffing while loose leash walking, sniffing while sitting, it's all okay with me as long as he's heeling and sitting in more or less the right place. I've spent too much time encouraging him to search independently and persistently to discourage sniffing. The final class/graduation was run like an AKC obedience trial, complete with score sheets. I had invited a friend along to photo and video my dog's performance. He's still a big goofy boy, so I never expected perfection, even though we had spent well over 100 hours training the homework and completed thousands of repetitions. I would never have entered him into a strictly judged obedience trial as he just was not ready for that level of precision. Long story short, we received a failing grade, video evidence to the contrary. As I said, I did not expect perfection, or for him to be at the top of the class. I also did not expect for him to be graded so harshly, especially having points taken off for sniffing. I can cautiously recommend the training, but would recommend skipping "graduation". I honestly don't think anyone should be judged a failure after putting in all that work and showing that much improvement. read more

I met Cindy back when we trained a dog through Dany Canino. We just took on two puppies this spring and I was so impressed with the results with Dany and Cindy years ago, I was happy to see that Cindy and Jennifer we keeping the program going. My wife and I had Jennifer and Cindy over for Puppy training in home and then later took the 10 week training this summer. The 10 week class is commitment and work, but sticking with it and putting in the time is worth the work. Today I had to take one of my dogs to the Vet. It was so nice to have a dog that could hold a down command in the waiting area with other dogs and cats around. In the exam room, not only was my dog able to stand for exam on the table and not move around, but he was very calm and allowed the Vet to check his mouth, teeth, jaw, back, legs, ears, neck and feet with no fidgeting on the table. Having a very well behaved dog at the Vet was one of the benefits of the class. Professional no non-sense instruction is very much appreciated. We can walking on the leash without pulling. My dogs stay at the front door when it is opened and dont bolt out, these are all great things we learned to do in class. I am still working with my dogs and look forward to taking more classes with Jennifer and Cindy. Just one last word of encouragement. Time 4 Obedience is a great structured class for Novice obedience. Jennifer & Cindy give step by step guidance, provide immediate feedback and coaching. I have two labs just over a year old. I took one through the course and what we both learned was so valuable and now walking on a lease is enjoyable. Even though this 10 week course is a time commitment, I was so happy with the results, I signed up with my exuberant male who wanted to bolt out of the car when I opened the door. I can not say enough amazing words about Time 4 Obedience with Jennifer and Cindy. Brooklyn is a standard​ poodle that was a little​ stubborn​. My dad went about halfway through​ the class and then just stopped​. A few years later Brooklyn and I​ were​ attacked by a dog. Brooklyn started​ having PTSD symptoms​. She was super nervous​,head snapping​​,growling, very unsure of herself. She was super scared to be around dogs and humans. I decided to reregister her again and stick with the whole program this time. 10 weeks and daily training I saw a huge amount​ of​ improvement. I stuck with it and now I have a new dog that just graduated​ from the first class. I see a new dog that enjoys​ working​ with me. She is not confused about the commands that I give her. Her confidence with humans and dogs is amazing. I was at one point so ready to give her away and I am glad that I did not make that​choice. We are a team now that understand each other way better. Going to the vet, getting a bath it's​ not a battle or a game of chase or having her make big a scene​. I know that the classroom time is over but the tools and the training​ that I learned are not to be forgotten but to be used every day​​. We will be continuing​ to another class and over the summer we are going to sharpen up the basics we leaned. As well as going to tune-ups​ in the park. I don't have words to express how happy I am with Jennifer and Cindy's Obedience 4 Life training program. I took Obedience 4 Life with my Rottweiler puppy, Nala, when she was 5 months old, and the transformation was dramatic. If you stick to the program, and get an occasional private lesson as needed, then you can rest assured that your dog will be trained to your hearts content. As a puppy, Nala was very loving but also rambunctious. Walks were difficult, she would not listen, and we felt hopeless. From week 1 of the training program, we were taught how to teach Nala to watch us the entire walk. From then on, the 10 week transformation began. By the end of the program, I ended up moving to Long Beach. I was able to feel comfortable that my dog wouldn't run out of the door the moment it opened it up to the busy street, and was happy to know that when my dog was off-leash at the dog beach, she would always be within 15 feet from me. We just completed the 10 week Novice Obedience course and I am very happy I chose Time4Obedience. I am very impressed with the amount of support and encouragement provided to us during the course. And when he wasn't picking things up, they took the time to set up private trainings. Cindy and Jennifer are the best. Here is some background on our dog: we had to move several times in the previous year, and we ended up moving into a very large house that was unfamiliar to our dog. She especially had trouble because she couldn't always hear when people entered the house, and she would end up being startled by someone being in her "territory." She was also attacked by another dog in the previous year, and since then she had been more aggressive towards dogs, which she never was before. Since moving into the new house, our dog, Reina, seemed stressed out and ended up nipping at someone coming into the home. I say nipping because there was no broken skin, blood, or real pain to the person. She really just opened her mouth around their leg. Regardless, this was unacceptable. We knew we needed to get our dog to a better mental state. We had done puppy training when we first rescued our girl, but none of that had really stuck. She generally listened to us when we called and wouldn't run in the street, which was all we really cared about. (For reference, Reina is a 5-year-old terrier mix. We rescued her 4 years ago.) I looked on Yelp to find information about dog training and found Obedience 4 Life. The first time I spoke with Jennifer, she spent an hour talking with me about Reina to see if Obedience 4 Life would be beneficial for our situation. She listened as I explained what was going on and a brief history. It was very impressive to me that she would take an hour to talk with me when I hadn't even paid for any services yet. It was obvious that she cared a lot about dogs and about creating and maintaining healthy environments for them. We ended up needing a preliminary meeting with Cindy and Jennifer to see how Reina acted around other dogs because of her aggression issues. After she was deemed safe to be around the other people and dogs that would be in the class, we began the Novice class. It was so. much. work. I mean, seriously, an hour or more each day for 10 weeks. About halfway through we were doing more like 2 hours a day with her. As hard as that was for two working adults to do, it was very much worth the effort. By the end of the class, Reina was able to behave like a show dog: heeling, coming when called, always attentive, staying for long periods of time, etc. Our intention was not to make her show-dog-ready, but her change in attentiveness and obedience (without treats! Did I mention that?!) is night and day. We are so thankful to Jennifer and Cindy for their wonderful work. Jennifer and Cindy came to our house in Moorpark after i called them to ask questions about their group obedience classes at a local park in Simi Valley. I told Jennifer about why I was looking for a training method that could motivate our dog without depending on food and treats, and she recommended a private puppy session at our house. It turned out to be an excellent decision. I am a first time dog owner and full of questions, so they were extremely helpful and patient explaining the most important basics of training and having a dog in the house My mom who has been afraid of dogs her entire life, for the first time sat on the ground and held our dog with Cindy and Jennifer's supervision. Since then, his role in the family is much clearer and we are all happier. Our Golden Doodle puppy was about 3 months old at the time they first came over and he was biting, chewing, peeing, jumping etc. With some very basic but effective human training during the private session, our puppy has learned what is a proper way to start play (No Teeth), follow my lead on a leash with "Let's Go", and we are even working on "Wait" at open doors. read more

Ruger & I just finished the 10 week class with Cindy & Jennifer who are awesome instructors. I am thankful to have found their class because they use the Koehler method of training along with their own techniques which is a great combo. Approximately 18 years ago I did training with my Aussie through Danny at Theresa's Pet store parking lot. Danny used the Koehler method of training. I loved the outcome so much because I had a well trained and well behaved dog who I could walk on and off leash with no problems. I was thankful to have found Time 4 Obedience for my 7 month Aussie knowing the skills that Cindy and Jennifer provide along with hard work on my part I will have another dog who is fun to take for walks or hikes on and off leash. Yes, this is a huge commitment, hard work, dedication along with continual work but this is what I wanted. In the past I have worked on my own with my dog and have had a trainer come to the house but I knew with Ruger I needed a class like Time 4 Obedience and the methods they use. I found it to be very encouraging to be in a class with other handlers and their dogs. It helped me to realize I wasn't alone with my less than perfect dog and could see that we all worked very hard for 10 weeks with noticeable results for all. Now with the tools and education provided by Jennifer and Cindy I can now continually gain the confidence along with my knowledge to correctly train and handle my dog. I can not say enough WONDERFUL things about Jennifer and Cindy! I first reached out to Jennifer when my 4 month old yellow lab puppy started exhibiting extreme signs of fearfulness - especially with men. Desperate to find a way to help socialize my dog and get her comfortable with men - Cindy and Jennifer came out to do a private lesson at my home. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little hesitant at first, as I had talked to over 15 dog trainers - none of which could help or knew how to help me. However, from the moment Jennifer and Cindy started working with Presley - I saw hope. After two full courses (Beginner and Novice 10 week courses) I am ecstatic to say that my now 1 year old puppy is thriving in every aspect. She is MUCH more confident with new people and now looks to me to tell her what is threat and what isn't. She sit-stays and down-stays like a champion (which is incredibly helpful when we take her to restaurants and friends homes). She even knows stand-stay, which is insanely useful when taking her to the vet or when new people approach her to pet her. In addition to the things I mentioned above, Presley learned her basic commands as well as not to jump on people entering the house. (I know! Labs are notorious jumpers!!) We enrolled our adopted shelter dog after a month of bringing him home. We were new pet parents and realized that we needed a lot of help. I had our first 3 dogs trained in the Koehler method with Ms. Danny Canino some 20 years ago. We love and pamper our dogs to no end, but at the same time we do not tolerate unruly behavior of so many dogs we see everyday. Just because we put a choke chain on the dog and give her a correction does not mean we are mean to our dog. Our girl Roxie is a rambunctious puppy and needs to be taught the well manners. We were heart broken to hear that Danny was no longer teaching, but with luck and patience we found Cindy and Jennifer. We couldn't be happier. Cindy and Jennifer teach with the same love and effectiveness as Danny some 20 years ago. We just finished the 10-week a Novice class and will be back for Grand Novice later in the summer for sure. $$$ well spent if you love your dog and want to give him/her a good foundation for life. read more

I called several trainers to help me with my pooch. They were all great, but when I called time 4 obedience I was blown away by their philosophy. This method is designed to create a reliable and obedient companion dog.Starting in 1993, I put three dogs through this training with great success. (Cindy has been at this a long time!) One of my dogs, an energetic "Alpha" Dalmatian, completed the Novice and Advanced Novice courses. After those he earned his AKC CD (companion dog) title as well as his CGC (Canine Good Citizen). Try accomplishing that with PetSmart training lol. It's more than titles and ribbons, of course, which are mere artifacts of the program's effectiveness. If you want nicey-nice put-your-dog-in-a-comfy-harness "training", go to a "mutual respect" trainer then watch your dog become injured or killed as he ignores your command for lack of treats, a clicker, or "please???"
