UPDATE: Just received this note from tenant regarding the tree branch job in Hyde Park: Hi, just wanted to say thanks again for your help with the tree branch situation on Friday! Whoever took care of it really did a great job! Have a great week :) Unsolicited proof from the tenant who wanted to make sure we knew Jason did a great job!!!! The fact that they took the time to reach out says it all. read more

A year after giving them a 5-Star review for excellent service, I contacted JW for a complete tree trimming. I'm sorry to say it might be hit or miss here. Because he (or whoever answered his phone) has missed more than once. After our appointment time(s) were confirmed with no-show & no-call, days went by. I thought "Maybe he lost his phone or lost my contact info." [crickets chirping] [more crickets chirping with an occasional bird tweet] -- First no-show. Possible miscommunication. -- Second no-show. No excuse. So here I am, back on Yelp, looking for someone who not only does the job but shows up when they say they will. Or at least calls/texts to say I'm sorry I couldn't make our appointment(s). After giving them more than enough time to redeem themselves, I didn't feel right leaving my original review without an update. read more

So I used JW for there services at my primary home. Jason came out and walked the property with me and thoroughly went over my needs. Based on the scope of work he was able to give me an instant estimate after he walked the property. We agreed on the price and Jason told me he would be calling me back with date of work. Within couple of days I heard and Jason and his team came out on scheduled time. Jason is very personable and so is his hard working crew. They got down to work right away and asked for my feedback as they were doing the job. The crew was very polite and within couple of hours they took care of the trees on my property. My front and back yard looks so much better. I will be using their services for my other properties as well. Highly recommended to everybody!!!! read more

Wow. Great experience. I had one of those darn ornamental pear trees die and fall over in my front yard, breaking off half of the other ornamental pear. Jason came out on Memorial Day weekend and we talked about that and other trimming I needed. Jason listened carefully, took notes, marked trees, etc. They did a fantastic job. Didn't miss a thing - and even pulled out the "weed" trees I complained about. Reasonable price, too. I'll turn to them for my tree needs in the future! Also: Jason and Daniel are super nice guys. read more

UPDATE: Used these guys again on a different house, and STILL love them!! Jason was super prompt, responsive, competitive on pricing, consistent follow up, and ultimately did a GREAT job!! We will definitely use their services for the rest of our yard. read more

I only write yelp reviews when the service was either terrible or terrific - JW's team was obviously terrific. The time from my online request for a quote to the end of the entire project was less than 2 days! WOW! Jason and Daniel were friendly and knowledgeable. Their crew did excellent work and were very professional. Daniel kept us in the loop throughout the project, and made sure were were 100% satisfied before they finished. Our yard looks GREAT! So great, in fact, that my next-door neighbor hired the JW team as well. The crew went from working on my yard to my neighbor's yard without even a break. Now both of our yards look a million times better - a win for the neighborhood. :) In summary - excellent owner, excellent crew, phenomenally fast, quality work and all for a reasonable price. read more

I called JW Tree and Land around late afternoon. My call was answered immediately by Jason and he offered to swing by my house after his current job. He made it before it got dark and did a walk through of the work I needed to get done in my yard. I like that he was able to find little things I would have overlooked like the small trees that were growing like weeds at the side of my house and a small tree that was growing in the center of a bush I never even saw before he pointed it out. I had gotten a cheaper quote from a competitor, but I decided to go with Jason because of his eye for detail. I enjoy that he has a legit form for his quotes and you get the breakdown of the estimate on paper for you to keep with all his info. He offered to give me a discount if I was able to go with him the next day because my job fit into his schedule. I didn't feel pressured, but I appreciated his ability to communicate and that both of us were able to feel like we were getting a good deal. He is easy to contact and very quick to respond no matter the time of day which shows me he's a hard worker and he takes his job seriously. His team came out to my house the morning of the following day and they were finished before 4pm. They did a wonderful job cleaning up and even cleaned the leaves out of our gutters which I really appreciated because we don't own a ladder and it's been stressing me. Overall something I've been putting off for a while was taken care of fairly painlessly and I appreciate the ease at which it was done. I feel like we were given a fair price and the team works very hard and professionally. Everyone was friendly which never hurts and our house looks much happier. I have nothing negative to say about JW T&L and I would recommend them to others. I've seen other reviews where people were irritated about missed meetings, but I work from home so it wasn't an issue for me. They started work at my house earlier than I expected, but for me that wasn't a problem. Thank you again Jason for the great and speedy work! read more

JW Tree & Land Service - Before the branches were resting on the roof! I much prefer the after - Tree Services Near Me

These guys did a phenomenal job trimming back some hackberries and ligustrum that had gone crazy in our backyard. Jason came out the same day that I called and gave me a reasonable quote, and the next morning Daniel and his crew were at the house with their trailer to haul away all of the branches. In just a few hours they were finished, and it looks great! We have a large veggie garden in the back, and they managed to remove branches all around it without disturbing a single garden bed. They picked up all the debris and things looked even cleaner than before they got there. I would highly recommend these guys and will be using them in the future. Thanks y'all! read more

JW Tree & Land was one of four services that I called and received quotes from to trim all the trees on my property. Jason was very responsive and agreed to come out to give an estimate that day, which proved to be very competitive with the three other offers. I ultimately selected him based on his stellar reviews and the fact that he was highly responsive to my phone calls and questions. Overall, they did an excellent job - the lawn looks better than ever! Jason even went so far as to text me pictures of the completed lawn so I could see them from work. As you can see from the review, I would highly recommend JW Tree & Land Service. read more

I used Jason 3 years ago and was impressed. They came over and trimmed 9 large trees and many bushes. They removed dead bushes and cleaned up everything. Perfect! read more

I contacted JW Tree & Land Service after my previous tree service failed to return my calls. I filled out the form on JW's website and although it took Jason a couple of days to contact me, he was able to meet me at my home that same afternoon. We walked around my yard and I showed him what I wanted done to each tree. He took meticulous notes and even offered to clear out some poison ivy and haul off the bamboo I had cut down the weekend before. We agreed on a price and he told me his crew could be there the next day. The next morning his crew showed up bright and early and got to work. They had the 4 trees in the backyard trimmed in no time and cleaned up as they worked. The trees in the front were a lot taller and they took their time roping the limbs and lowering them down so they wouldn't fall on or near my house. They also did a great job cleaning up the front yard and even raked my flower bed. read more

I contacted them regarding poison ivy and other ivy plants we had in some beds at a new build. Quickly responded and we was very friendly. We talked on the phone and he said he would be by the next day to look. Never showed up and went downhill from there. He then gave me quick responses that the pictures i sent wasn't poison ivy even though I said in my messages that i was trying to figure out what the other ivy was and sent photos of that. Then just ignored my text. Even he didn't want the work he should have at least told me that instead of ignoring me or no-showing when saying he would come by. read more

Jason was wonderful to work with. I had tried on multiple occasions to get into contact with another company and they never returned my emails or calls. After calling and leaving a voicemail, Jason called the next day apologizing for the late response due to having locked his phone in his car. We set up a date and time for him to come by the house and take a look. He was running late the day of our appt and was courteous enough to call ahead and let me know. He walked around our house and gave us suggestions and advice as to which trees/plants were bad and needed to be removed and what we could do to help maintain the rest of our trees. He was very professional and just a delight to work with. His pricing was very reasonable for trimming 6 trees (all different types and sizes) and removing 4 trees/plants that were getting in the way. After the initial appt, we set up another day for his team to come and do the actual work. I work as a night RN so I sleep during the day. They were awesome and I didn't even hear them. They cleaned up everything and I now I can't stop looking at our trees and thinking how good they look. If you aren't going to be home when they come to do the work, you can always leave the check under the front door mat and Jason will come by and pick it up. This was such a great experience and I recommend them to anyone looking to trim, remove, or even get suggestions on maintaining their trees. read more

I found JW Tree Service on Yelp and decided to give them a call based on the number of good reviews they had. Jason, the co-owner with another guy that works with the crew, answered my call and set a time to come by and give me a bid that day. He is very knowledgeable and personable, and he gave me a very reasonable bid. The crew showed up first thing the next morning and got to work It was clear they had been well trained and knew what they were doing. I was SO impressed with how careful and thorough they were! They tied off every limb. And everyone was very polite and respectful. They did a beautiful job of cleaning up afterwards, leaving my yard, deck, driveway and beds tidier than they found them. And they even skimmed the leaves and branches out of my pool. From my experience, I would say it is a top notch company with excellent customer service. read more

As far as timeliness, responsiveness, and customer service- these guys are great. Jason came out the same day to quote the work, when I couldn't get other companies to come in the same week - or give a concrete answer on when work would be completed. We had large downed limbs and other limbs threatening the house, and needed all of our way-overgrown hedges brought down several feet. JW actually had the guys come after I accepted the bid, the SAME DAY, and finish most of the work- they completed the next day. This was after a big storm, so they were really busy but fit us in anyway. They're pricey, though, and you have to be willing to pay the higher price for work you need done immediately. They noticed a split tree while they were working on the property and added that to the bid, I'm very grateful that they took the time to look around and look for future problems. All in all- you often get what you pay for. I'm very happy I used them this time- Jason even went by after the work was completed and paid for to get "after" pics for me. The "minus a star" is for the price which is higher than many other landscaping companies I've worked with. read more

These guys did an excellent job trimming my trees and removing two trees. I had a tree that was about to fall on top of my house. I was very worried that when it was cut down it might go crashing down the wrong way. After assuring me that they knew what they were doing plus showing me their insurance I hired them. I'm very glad I did and fully recommend them to anyone read more

Jason came when he said he would for an estimate -- which was incredibly fast. Next he provided a fair written estimate in a timely fashion but still taking time to discuss what would/ could be done with my yard in detail until he could tell I was satisfied. He even went into a few options on some "problem areas" I had brewing. His crew was a very friendly yet down to business bunch, who couldn't appreciate that!?! They did a very nice job and cleaned up everything. They made my yard SO MUCH NICER for a reasonable price and were a good group of guys to boot. TIP: Send him a text message. These guys work in outdoor, loud settings. If you have a simple message or question TEXT. read more

Jason and his crew were great! They were able to give me a quote, then complete the project that same day. I had two trees that needed to be trimmed and the price was beyond fair. Jason was very responsive, informative, and really easy to communicate with. I highly recommend using JW Tree & Land Service for your landscaping needs. read more

I am not a huge fan of spending money on a dead tree. It is like paying a dentist to remove a rotten tooth, just a lot of a pain and cost. As such, I put this off longer than I should have and ended up with a tree in a very sad state. After calling around I found JW Tree Service and they were able to come out to bid the job the next day. Their estimate was very reasonable and I was even more impressed when they said they could have their team do the work that afternoon. The work was done as promised and even better, they left a neat stack of firewood at my request. To continue the dentist analogy, this lagniappe is a bit like a dentist who gives you the gold from a crown they remove, but much less gross. Would certainly recommend these guys for their great work and the little extra effort at a reasonable price. read more

We recently had JW Tree Service out to trim a large tree on the side of our house and over all tree pruning. Great experience throughout the whole process. Jason was able to quickly come out and give a quote; Jason was very thorough in discussing the different options for all of our yard and also taking recommendation on removing the large tree on the side of the house. Scheduling our service was easily done over phone. The crew communicated throughout the whole process and day. Asking us if there was anything else and made sure it was up to our specs. The guys who came out worked quickly and tidied up after themselves nicely. Everyone was very courteous and they even moved the trampoline out of the way and returned it where it belonged. I would certainly use them again and recommend them to friends who need tree service. read more

A neighbor hired this company and since I needed to have trees trimmed anyway, I hired them too. In the 15 years I've owned my home, I always hired larger, more well advertised companies to shape, fertilize and trim the trees. After speaking with Jason and getting a bid price, I decided to give them a try. He said he could get his crew to my house that same day, which he did, but they ran out of daylight and had to return the following day to finish my job. The crew arrived the next day, on time, and worked for several hours trimming the 8 large oak trees in my backyard. They climbed all over those trees, often where I couldn't see them but saw their safety lines hanging from near the top of the 50 plus foot oaks! My bid was for 9 large Live Oak trees and one Cherry Laurel tree about 2 feet above the roof line of my one story home. First, the bid price was extremely good and when the job was finished I felt like I got MORE than my money's worth. Second, the crew did a FANTASTIC job; better than all my previous companies! Third, they cleaned up all the limbs and cuttings so well that my yard and patio looked BETTER than it did before they arrived! They even carried all my potted plants to the patio because they were under the trees that were to be trimmed. They put them all back in place after the job was complete. The guys at JW Tree & Land Services obviously have the knowledge and skill to do their job at a top notch level. I don't give out the 5 star rating too often, but this company earned their rating by doing everything Jason promised they would do ( and MORE) at a GREAT PRICE! read more

I called Jason for a quote and he was available to meet me that same day - it was a Saturday. He was professional and polite when on our property. He quickly assessed our needs, provided some feedback and wrote us a quote on the spot. I found the quote to be very reasonable and competitive. After a no-pressure follow up, Jason earned our business. The crew was able to come the next day to begin work. They showed up promptly, were courteous and ready to work. They deftly cut down three large dead trees in our backyard. They had to work around two existing structures and did so with no damage. About three hours after starting they had completed the job. They hauled off the trunks and branches. The stumps were cut flush close to the ground. I was impressed by the speed and skill of JW Tree & Land Service's crew. Overall, they were professional, skillful, responsive and economically friendly. You can't ask for more. read more

JW did a great job cleaning up our tree that randomly fell over in our yard. The tree fell right in front of my front door and on my car. I needed the tree taken care of the same day. The owner was very friendly and came over within the hour of being called. They worked really fast and cleaned up everything. You would of never known the tree had fallen when they were done with everything. I will be calling them for future tree trimming. read more

Had a wonderful experience with having some brush I had cut removed from my property. I received a response within 30 mins, and arranged a time for a quote. I would totally recommend these guys and will be calling them back for some tree trimming. read more

Jason & his team did an amazing job on the long neglected trees in the yard of our 'new-to-us' house. They were there from 9am to 7pm, cleaned everything up and it looks fantastic. He was very detailed in his explanation of all the work that was done, and the price was very reasonable. I would absolutely use them again, very professional crew, beautiful work. read more

I spoke with Jason about cutting up and removing a large tree branch that had fallen after a storm. This branch was very large, but from a pear tree so we're not talking a redwood or something. He went out to look at it and quoted me $400 to cut it up and haul it away. Really?! I called a another tree service (also from Yelp) and they quoted me $150. That's a pretty big gap. Then after I canceled my appointment with JW without mentioning the reason, they immediately offered to lower their price by $100. Again, I'd never mentioned their price being too high or the other company. I think they knew they were overpriced and they were right. My suggestion, always get a 2nd opinion. read more

I purchased a Google Offers for $250 of tree service from JW for the Cedar Elm by my mailbox. Jason wanted an additional $350 ("for only $600, he said") to trim up the one tree, which was much more than another quote. He finally agreed to do just the dead limbs over the street for the $250 coupon, saying he would return "sometime next week." After three weeks with no contact, I asked Google to refund the coupon. read more

They quoted $1200 to cut trees and overgrown brush in my backyard, but wouldn't include raking the leaves. Another service did it all--including leaf raking--for $600. Definitely get alternate quotes if you think their quote is too high. read more

I met Jason and his crew while they were trimming my neighbors trees. I observed them a while and noticed they did a good job on their trees and they cleaned up the yard when they finished. My neighbor was happy with the job they did in his yard. I asked Jason to come over and give us an estimate for cleaning my oaks of dead branches, crossed limbs, and removal of three trees. I also wanted the canopy lifted over the roof and opened to give us more light in preparation for sod installation in the shady back yard. I checked Yelp and Angie's List both were favorable toward JW. Jason's crew did an excellent job. They worked on all the areas we discussed and went beyond what Jason promised. Jason even took a discount coupon I found after he gave me the bid (they included extra tree work for the coupon.) The crew was courteous, hard working, safe, and they all worked to give us more than we anticipated. They sterilized saws and trimmers before work began and sprayed cuts on the oak trees as they worked. They also used safety ropes and belts and they cleaned up the yard as they worked. All of which gave me peace of mind. They did a superior job overall. It will be a while before I need trimming again because they actually did the job right. I recommend Jason and his crew and I will certainly call him again when I need tree work. Thanks for doing an outstanding job! read more

Contacted JW Tree & Land Service after several other tree trimming companies either quoted ridiculously high prices, weren't available for several weeks, or simply canceled last minute after agreeing to a price. Jason scheduled a time to come out the very next day to give me a quote. Not only did he show up, his crew was able to come out and do the job the same day. They did an amazing job and cleaned up everything afterwards. A neighbor was over at our house while the crew was working and, after seeing what a great job they were doing, decided to hire them to do some work in her backyard as well. We'll definitely hire JW Tree & Land Service again in the future. read more

Received a very reasonable quote the same day it was requested, and the JW team went into action the very next day! Removed a sick tree in just a few short hours. Efficient, professional service from making sure all yard art and plants were moved to safety prior to first cut - all the way through spotless clean up and hauling. I will recommend them throughout my network, and absolutely plan to call them again come time for Spring trimmings! read more

I called and spoke to owner about having 3 trees cleaned up and a few shrubs taken out. I was original told they could do the job a few days later and would be there the next day to offer a quote, but no one showed up. I called back a few times and left a message and he finally called me back the next day. The owner did apologize and came out the following day. The original quote for having 3 medium sized trees and a few shrubs pulled was $550, minus a $100 discount for finding on YElP? It was about $200 more than another company I spoke to so I had to renegotiate price. I was told they would be there the next morning but again, NO SHOW! I was pissed. When the guys came out to do the job, it took all of 45 minutes and ended up costing me $350. Trees look real nice but extremely overpriced for a job taking less than an hour in my opinion. read more

A pleasant experience. Jason came to give an estimate in the early afternoon. By early evening, the team removed two trees, cleared ALL of our terrible bushes, removed old branches I had stacked up in our side run and thinned two large oaks. The team left no mess and blew and removed all remaining leaves. Our house looks completely different, and I am so thankful for the speed and quality of their work. We will use them again next year. Jason was a very friendly guy, and the price was completely reasonable, a borderline steal. read more

Jason and his crew did an awesome job clearing out my lake lot. He is very professional and super responsive. I highly recommend him!

Had a great experience with Jason and his team. Needed some serious oak pruning. Jason came out on a Monday and gave an estimate and his team was out on Tuesday to complete the work. Neither during the estimate or execution did I feel like I was being gouged nor did I feel like they were doing any clear cutting. The result was a great undercut trim and they left all the trees looking full and balanced. I really appreciated the expediency of the crew and also the walk through at the end describing the work they did to make sure it was everything I had requested. read more

Jason and Daniel did a fantastic job removing our Bradford Pear tree that split. They were out the same day that it happened. They worked quickly and efficiently. It was obvious that Daniel and his team knew what they were doing. As an added bonus they trimmed our myrtles too. They were also the most affordable of all the companies I called. They do tree trimming & removal, roof clearing, lot/land clearing, ball moss/mistletoe removal, storm clean-up for commercial and residential properties. 512-743-6577 jwtreeandlandservice.com read more
