After witnessing the 2 guys in a truck folks scalping trees in my neighborhood I decided to call the Good Guys based on Yelp reviews. This was a great decision as I quickly realized I was working with experienced arborists. Chris arrived on time for our gratis consultation and provided guidance regarding caring for our 3 trees. We scheduled a follow up to discuss elevating the canopies and trimming/shaping our trees. Their work crew arrived on time and did a great job. I reviewed the job and asked for some additional trimming which they did. Most importantly they removed and hauled away all the debris. Are these guys the cheapest, no, but they are professionals, provide 5-star arborist service, and expert advice. read more

Phoned on Wednesday. The team showed up Friday. Absolutely amazing and professional. Safe. Very fast Great Guys. They worked in my neighborhood a few years ago during that huge ice storm. Highly recommended! read more

The representative that came out was polite and helpful but after the trimming we noticed a large limb that was cut but hanging 20 ft up on another limb. I called to have them remove the limb but no one came and I was able to get it down the next day, concerned it would fall while our kids were around it. The work was fine minus the clearly hanging limb but I was most disappointed with no response to the limb issue. read more

I'm not sure why all the good reviews. We've had a terrible time with them . Sean came over and we explained what we wanted and we thought he understood but the trees were not cut back enough and the bottoms weren't cleaned up. We asked them to come back out, it took weeks for them to finally show and when they did they ruined our trees. I could have done a better job. read more

Jose and his team where quick and super easy to work with. It was a pretty straight forward trim job but they handled it at a reasonable price and much faster than what I had expected. I was able to squeeze in the same week after the initial estimate. The guys were in and out in less than an hour for 2 large hackberry limbs in a my tiny backyard. They left the place clean and tidy. read more

I will provide the same feedback here that I provided to the folks at Good Guys Tree Service, plus a little more color. Appreciate the service and the overall good job the team did, I inspected what I could, post work, but missed two things. General yard cleanup - not as good as expected - quite a few limbs and branches left behind that I had to cleanup and remove. (note a separate fee is charged for cleanup) Right side of house - great job - save they did not reduce the height of one of the trees such that it was not clearing the roof line. I only noticed this after stepping further into street to review and from my second floor window. Just one limb with associated branches missed. Other than these two items, great job. Thank you! To summarize Sean did a great job during the estimate process, very thorough with great note taking and pictures. They made it clear that if there were any issues I needed to point them out while the team was onsite, otherwise there was a $500 fee for them to come back. I guess that works well as long as you are at home for the duration of the service. Sean came out and did the walk through with the team ( thanks Sean) As noted the team did a very very good job, save for the cleanup and missing two items - reducing height of tree branches on one side of house and trimming of one other tree. As it was incumbent on me to point this out while they were on site, it is what it is. What is unfortunate is they never responded to the feedback and email that I sent to them after paying the invoice as soon as it was received. I confess that is a bit disappointing. read more

Good Guys Tree Service was super professional, Jose Meza came out and gave me an assessment and a few days later, a crew returned & removed a dead tree, an enormous fallen branch and multiple Chinaberry trees. I realized that there were also some Segura Palm fronds that needed to be removed. Jose immediately authorized that work which was so helpful. I was astonished at how quickly and thoroughly the removal and grinding process was accomplished. It's the second time, our household has used this service and I happily recommend Good Guys Tree Service. read more

Jose and the team at Good Guys have been taking care of my several large trees for years and I couldn't be happier. They've helped clean up after a storm and provide preventative maintenance so that my trees are healthier than ever and we've had minimal tree issues even in the most recent supercell storm! Also after Good Guys, my pecan trees have started producing way more healthy nuts and a lot more of them. The service is top notch, helpful, and understanding and Jose takes his time to understand what your needs are and give you options to quote you something you're comfortable with and they also go the extra mile. It took only a day from when my Yelp request for an estimate to take care of a bamboo problem before Jerry was here at the appointment time to assess my mess. I had had someone else out last week that didn't give me confidence he was going to go about it the best way. Jerry's estimate for the job, unfortunately was beyond my SS income. Jerry kindly gave recommendations on how we can manage and slowly eradicate it ourselves (we have more time on our hands than money). I really appreciated his professional approach to eradicating the "devil's" weed and we will follow his recommendations. Thank you Jerry! read more

10/24: Wanted to add to my previous review. Called and Jose came right out and gave me an excellent estimate. The crew of quite a few came out a day or two later, on time on the date they promised. Simon and his crew did a marvelous job! He discussed everything with me and made sure I was completely happy before they left (they cleaned up really nicely too). I certainly will be using this excellent company again. 10/22: I had a great tree guy but he retired last year. I called around and got quite a big difference in prices from a couple of companies. Justin came out and gave me a great price. The crew (of 9) showed up the day they said they would. They did a marvelous job. Justin showed up with them to make sure everything was OK. The Foreman walked around the house with me and made sure I was happy with everything before I signed off. I was very happy with the work and how quickly they did it. They had a chipper and although I can't NOT think of the movie "Fargo" whenever I see a chipper, it made short work of all the branches they removed. They also did a great job of trimming my shrubs. I've already given their number to two friends of mine and will certainly use Good Guys Tree Service next time I need my canopy raised and my large oak trees trimmed. read more

**Review for estimate visit only** Inquiring about a quote and the appointment process was quick and easy. It was Saturday and someone from the office called to schedule us during a 2 hour window for the following Monday. Sean sent a text bright and early Monday to confirm that he'd be coming that day and also sent a text when he was about 30 minutes away. I was pleasantly greeted by Sean upon arrival and he provided a card showing his certified arborist number. We stopped at the front yard to discuss our red oak tree. He gave some helpful info on how to care for it and what it needed in the future. We then moved to the back yard. Sean has really good eyes because he told me what he saw on one of our crepe myrtles from "a mile away" and this wasn't even one of the trees that we asked for an estimate. Sean was so very thorough in telling me about all of the trees we had on our property (without asking) and giving us an overall health update for each. Turns out we were doing really well for the most part with the care of our trees. read more

I got a reasonable estimate, and they were able to schedule the job for the next day. However, there were some issues with the job. They were only supposed to cut down the trees in the back corner of my yard, but they took everything, including my pequins and lantana. I didn't realize I was supposed to tell them not to take those, because all we had talked about were trees. I just wanted the hackberries gone. I also had to tell them multiple times how far down to cut the larger tree they were working on, and had to pull up the photo from the estimate to show them the cut line. It seems like there was some very poor communication. They also moved a lot of items on my patio in order to make room so they could carry out what they cut down, which was fine. However, I asked TWICE if they would put everything back where it was, and was told both times that they would, but that didn't happen. I asked the Viking looking dude right before I left if they would put everything back, he said yes ma'am, but when I came back from Target nine minutes later, the entire crew was gone, and nothing had been moved back where it was supposed to be. I had even turned all the patio lights on for them before I left, since it was starting to get dark. They also damaged my downspout and my neighbor's shed, in addition to scraping the brand new paint on the side of my house (literally done a week ago). They're planning to take care of the shed, but my downspout apparently doesn't matter. Next time I need tree work done, I'll be hiring someone else. Definitely not the Mediocre Guys. read more

I needed a tree trim prior to some roof work. Good Guys was able to work with my short timeline. Trey's crew came out on time and did a great job. They were efficient, polite, and professional. And when they were done they cleaned up so well you couldn't even tell they had been here. This is the 2nd time I've used Good Guys and I don't see the need to use anyone else when I need tree work done. read more

Jerry with GoodGuys Tree Service really is a "good guy"! He met me at a hard-to-find ranch and was absolutely to the minute on time. I thought I had Oak wilt, but it turned out that I didn't. However, during the visit, he educated me about oak wilt, including its appearance, how to identify it, and how to treat it. Jerry has 30 years of experience and education in this field. You couldn't find anyone more knowledgeable or pleasant to work with. Prices were unbelievably reasonable. 5 Stars ++ read more

After noticing that a lovely, large tree in my front yard had fungus growing on both sides of the base, I consulted an arborist, who said I should probably take it down, but couldn't give me much more detail than that. I called Good Guys Tree Service for a second opinion and was visited by Master Arborist Jerry Weathered, who has over 30 years experience. He examined the tree and immediately identified all the signs that the tree was indeed in peril. He showed me where the tree had been stressed by drought and freeze and how high winds had caused the tree to bend and crack the main root at the base - allowing fungal penetration. Further, he gave me tips on how to recognize fungal threat early on and how to pre-emtively treat it if it should occur on other trees in my yard. I am so grateful to have encountered an individual of this caliber to care for my trees. read more

Excellent service from start to finish thanks most of all to Jose's professional and friendly management of the entire project. He swung by my house just a couple days after I reached out for a consultation and he took his time expertly answering my questions and inspecting and photographing the trees I wanted trimmed. It was great to know he was a trained arborist who knew how to properly care for trees when pruning and trimming. The estimate was detailed and Good Guys were willing to negotiate pricing to fit in my budget. The day of the job, Jose brought a crew of around 10 workers and they quickly, expertly, and professionally worked on 5 of my trees. One of those trees was a last minute addition and they threw it in for free. They left no mess and the whole experience was very smooth. You may spend more with Good Guys, but I learned my lesson going with cheaper tree trimmers who gutted my trees due to not being trained arborists with quality crew and tools like Good Guys. read more

We had a great experience with them. We had a dying ash tree that needed to come down. They also worked on some overdue trimming around the house. Jared was able to meet us very quickly and explain what the problems were and our options. He's very knowledgeable about trees, diseases, causes, property laws, and solutions. He had a crew out within the week. The crew was great and fast. I will be calling them for my next project for sure. Thanks again Jared! read more

We had a $3k project, which included $675 for grinding plants. Within 3 months, the plants grew back. Had we known that the grinding wouldn't permanently remove the plants, we'd not have spent the money -- because, of course, what's the point of paying for $675 for grinding if the plants reappear, much less in merely 3 months! Also, in spite of being "family owned", Good Guys' operation is very "corporate" -- with lots of emails and lengthy forms with lots of print and a glossy website. But when you have a question, they're more interested in saying "read the contract" then answering the questions. And, in spite of their claim that they provide "100% customer satisfaction", they've ignored our request for a $675 refund for the grinding that was objectively ineffective. We're now exploring seeking a refund in Small Claims Court. read more

The formally beloved tree company called Good Guys Tree Service was recently purchased by a national company called "Tree Guardians" who is buying up local tree service companies all over the U.S. so they can outbid the local businesses and put them out of business. When they bought "Good Guys", part of the contract was to keep the buyout secret so that the former customers wouldn't know. This is corporate greed at it's worst. I recently attempted to procure their services but they were so rude and unaccomodating that I went with a different tree service. Being a true "local" company, they were much nicer, more knowledgeable, more professional and far less greed driven than the current version of "Good Guys". Please don't give this greedy national corporation your money. There are plenty of local businesses and individuals who can offer better service with much friendlier business practices that don't harm local economies! read more

Good Guys' office scheduler is so kind and everyone in the office has amazing customer service. They seem to always fit me in quickly and are transparent with very good pricing. I have used them to trim and fertilize my trees for the last three years. Additionally, they did all the after storm clean up caused from my neighbor NOT taking care of his overgrown trees causing limbs to fall on my property. Shout out to Casey Hummell who handles all my quotes. I love his direct style and the pointer he uses to ensure we are aligned on what is getting trimmed. Gloria and her crew completed my last trim and were amazing. Efficient and left no trace behind except beautiful trees. Gloria was also very educated on the equipment and showed leadership in management of her crew and my neighbor on trim day. I highly recommend Good Guys Tree Service. So professional. The executed job, matched the quoted work, and the price was right. St. Jude is also my favorite charity!! I saw that Good Guys was a Champion Sponsor of the 2022 walk/run as an Austin Partner!! This is also one of my favorite events. Thank you, Good Guys, for actually being Good at Arborist work but also good humans through the community service work you do as well! read more

Good Guys trimmed the oak in my front yard. Excellent service at a reasonable price. I couldn't ask for more.

Wendell guided our HOA Directors to good decisions, for the health of our individual trees, and more importantly the health of our community as a whole. The quality of their care and work was seen by our residents and even some of our outside neighbors walking through our community told me how evident their work was but without a trace of a mess. When we had small follow ups to be done; Wendell and team had same day responses and always 100% compliant. Good guys trashed my property. They said they would come out and clean it up, but all talk and zero action. They serviced my next-door neighbor. They parked in front of my house. They left a huge oil stain on the street in front of my house. They walked on my flower bed. They left tree leaves and wood chips all over my garden bed. I honestly don't know if they did a good job on the neighbors house, but they didn't respect my property at all. Called owner 4/12/23 at about 5PM to discuss... waiting to hear back. So Good Guys Tree Service came to our home today, as Scheduled. Michael Rodriquez, the kind and knowlegable gentleman who did our bid, joined them to make sure the crew knew everything that needed to be done. As directed, by Michael, his crew immediately got to work. These guys are AMAZING, constantly working like Busy Bees, getting the whole project done rapidly. After all the cutting was completed two men 'Painted & Sealed' their cuts. Not one man stood around, they all worked to clean up every branch and leaf that had fallen. They soon completed their job Professionally and without any problems or Accidents ! Their Quality of Service is 'The Best' and it's All for a competitive price. Good Guys work today at our home was expert, efficient, with attention to detail in branch removal and cleanup. Robert Hill, Good Guys' estimator, discussed needed work to remove a 10'-15' broken branch above entry path to our house. While only this branch posed an immediate danger, there were additional dead branches that needed trimming (all 35'-40' high), along with removal of other tree debris included in our contract. Their office gives timely responses to questions about scheduling and the contract. The day after Robert's estimate, Good Guys' crew was scheduled. Tray, crew leader, Edgar and Willie, arrived on time with text alert ahead for contracted work. Tray supervised and worked with, Edgar (who conducted branch cutting and removal from the ground), and Willie (who scaled 35'-40' to cut down the broken and other compromised branches). The crew worked continuously from their time of arrival , throughout branch removal and cleanup. Our tree now has a safe and healthier canopy. This is our third experience with Good Guys. I highly recommend their expert tree knowledge, trimming, and tree removal, along with cleanup of all debris, for quality and value. read more

Wow, these really are the Good Guys! I have trees that I didn't even know were stressed and wilting, and one very challenging tree that has grown out sideways. Jose came to give me an estimate and take a look at my trees and he was prompt, communicative and extremely knowledgeable about the health of my trees and what I needed to do. No one who has been out to this point gave me the information he did, and he showed me on my trees where there were issues. I had many bids on pruning the many trees in our yard. I also requested the removal of dead limbs, ball moss, clearing of limbs hovering over our roof, and trimming the trees on the sidewalk and street per city code. Many of the bids were way too much. Good Guys came by (on time) but also mapped out exactly what they were going to do and even analyzed the health of our trees - finding two problem areas that I suspected but didn't know for sure what was wrong. Bid was VERY reasonable and was a "no brainer" selecting them to do our work. The crew showed up early and did an EXCELLENT job! During our walk-around at the end, they had NO problems doing some final cuts-n-prunes that my wife requested. They didn't argue, make a face, or try to talk us out of the extra work. Will DEFINATELY use Good Guys again and highly recommend their services. Oh! My wife was so impressed that she ran after the trucks to give them a tip! My wife giving a tip?! Really? She NEVER does! Jared came by my place and provided me a free quote on an oak tree that needed trimming. I was a bit concerned about oak trees getting infected. He reassured me that the crew sanitizes the equipment, paints over tree wounds, and told me the best times to trim. He was very quick to respond and was patient. The crew came and trimmed my oak tree. They came early which was great and got my oak tree up to code. Before they left they asked me how I liked it and if I had any other suggestions. Their proof of liability insurance was attached to the estimate which was nice and the price seemed fair. I would use them again and would recommend! read more
