Everything about this experience was above and beyond my expectations. The 2 trees in my front yard have never been pruned/trimmed and were in great need. The arborist who came to my house was Cargil W. and took care to evaluate the trees and the job was outstanding! The Scheduling person who I spoke with was very clear and pleasant to speak with. All the logistics were explained excellent. The pruning/trumming performed today was beyond professional! The 2 guys in the crew: Caleb H. Brian G. were outstanding! I highly recommend using Capitol Tree Care for tree work. I will for sure be using them in the future! read more

I'm really glad I decided on Capitol Tree Care after getting competing bids from 3 other companies, even though Capitol Tree required a longer lead time to provide the quote and do the work than the other companies. Cargil W. came out and walked through the process of trimming limbs of four trees away from the roof of my house, branch by branch, making helpful suggestions to retain as much foliage visible through the windows as we could. Caleb H., foreman, along with Martin H. and Geoshua H. did the actual work, communicating clearly and patiently with me to be sure they made every cut right where I wanted it. They were a great team, coordinating the preparation, cutting, and cleanup very efficiently. I enjoyed watching them work and am very grateful for the perfect job they did. read more

I highly recommend Capitol Tree Care! Caleb H, Martin H and Geoshua arrived on time and worked carefully and methodically to prune several trees. In the 36 years owning our house we've never had pruning done, even after our serious ice storms, so one can imagine the work that was involved. They cleaned up everything, were careful to spray sealant on the cuts to the Live Oak, and worked in difficult circumstances on a rainy day. The free preliminary assessment by certified arborist Cargill was great as he recommended what needed to be done and which trees were doing fine on their own. I can't say enough good things about everyone at Capitol Tree Care! read more

I have been using the team at Capitol Tree Care for many years. The service is excellent on a consistent basis. Caleb, Martin, Dylan and Steven did a great job of removing a dead tree and trimming others in my yard yesterday. I will continue to use them for all my tree care needs. read more

Incredible local company. I reached out to have a very large stump removed and Capital tree care reached out instantly and provided well thought out detail and scheduling for their services. Their prices are also more than fair. The stump was extremely close to my foundation and their technician, Tanner, took great care to make sure that all of the exposed roots were removed without damaging my foundation. When I need my trees pruned up and fertilized, I will be sure to give Capital Tree care a call as I trust they will do a good job. Thank you for your services. read more

Today the crew came to work on our trees. Brain Garcia, Caleb H, and Dyln were great. The talked me through each step of the work. They did a great job! We also appreciate how well they cleaned up after. What a positive experience, and our trees look so much healthier and better. Thanks! read more

I highly recommend Capital Tree Care for your tree trimming needs. Cargil , a ISA certified tree arborist, came out first to discuss the work to be done and to write up a proposal for the job. Once approved the work was scheduled quickly ( within 2 weeks) . The crew that did the tree work ( Caleb, Martin and Dylan) were Very professional, communicative, and worked quickly and efficiently. My entire experience with this company was excellent and I will use them again for my tree service. read more

Tree close to our home was removed safely and professionally by Caleb, Dylan and Martin. Clean up was excellent.

Kudos for an honest business owner who actually responds quickly & shows up for bids! James (owner/certified arborist) came out to give me an estimate on some tree trimming and removal of some casualties of the ice storm. He was recommended by several people in my neighborhood group who have used his services. The most impressive thing was his concern for the health of the trees and proper trimming - to do things right. Super nice guy! He also recommended some soil testing, which I will definitely do. read more

Highly recommend Capitol Tree Care for expert care of your trees. Cargil, certified arborist, walked my yard with me several weeks ago and gave a professional recommendation for my heritage live oak trees that needed trimming. He described exactly what was needed and sent an estimate that same day. Price he quoted was very fair and reasonable. Today the crew came to do the work and all three were prompt, professional, friendly, and very skilled. Led by foreman, Caleb Holtrop, they did the job thoroughly, taking great care of my trees. Caleb and his team, Dylan Ford and Martin E, took extra care to make sure every cut was the right cut to extend the life and make each tree look great. They were fast yet very thorough, cleaned up all the trimmings, and even donated the shredded wood chips for our neighborhood trail. I will continue to use Capitol for all my tree care needs as they are completely trustworthy and obviously only hire well trained professionals. read more

I highly recommend James Burtchell, owner of Capitol Tree Care, for arborist services. He is hard working, honest and personable. I contacted with him to do a very difficult job removing a lot of gravel around an Oak tree using an air spade. He gave me a very fair price. The job was finished with four yards of mulch, where the gravel had been. It looks beautiful!! read more

We were extremely pleased with the service provided by Capitol Tree Care and at a very reasonable price. Brian and Zack were great working together to get our trees in good shape and cleaned up the yard afterwards. We would recommend them on your next tree service. Thanks to everyone at Capitol Tree Care. read more

We had a great experience with the team from Capitol Tree Care. From the office staff to the tree cutting crew, everyone was very friendly and seemed genuinely invested in making sure our needs were taken care of. Cargil (one of the arborists) came out to look at our Cedar Elm that had split, and he gave us lots of great information as to what probably caused the split and what he recommended. Ultimately, it made the most sense to have it removed, and he gave us a very reasonable price, while explaining exactly what we would be charged for and how the price was determined. I appreciated his expertise and transparency. Since there was a risk of the tree falling and damaging our house, he put a rush on the job and the crew came out the following business day. I watched from the kitchen window as they took it down, and it was impressive! They were so fast, but so precise and careful at the same time. And when they were done, they cleaned everything up and asked if we wanted the mulch that was created from the tree being ground up. The following day, Emily followed up to make sure we were happy with the work, and we certainly were. From start to finish, it was a great customer experience, and they all did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them! read more

I have worked with Capitol Tree Care for a number of years. They understand how we want the trees trimmed and maintained. The crew always show up on time and work quickly to accomplish the job. The yard is left clean (blow leaves, pick up all the little branches) and shred everything. They even blew my gutters. His crew for the job today - Cargil, Brian and Nico were excellent. They checked with me several times to be sure they had gotten all work accomplished. I really appreciate them and James (the owner of Capitol Tree Care). I strongly recommend this company. read more

Call these folks! You will have no regrets and they will do a wonderful job! Cargil, Brian G, Caleb H and Easten were personable, professional, with attention to detail. Trimming, cutting down and chipping, hauling, and cleaning up all taken care of easily. Your yard/garden will thank you! read more

We have used Capitol Tree Care for trimming, pruning and removal of trees several times since we purchased our house 14 years ago. They have always operated at the highest standard. On their most recent visit to trim limbs high up in a large Pecan tree, the crew of Brian, Caleb and Easton were prompt, punctual and professional. Highly recommend Capitol Tree Care. read more

first came Cargil Wright, the Arborist, with patience, good guidance and a plan for my prize fig trees' haircut....nice guy, very professional-- wholeheartedly recommend! Tree trim fellas, Brian Gar, Zach H and Caleb H...called to notify arrival, reviewed the plan w Cargil, n got at it. we went slow so I could see how much I needed cut..then they would do a lil more. she's lookin good, not so tangled and droopy. Did a fine job, with a touch of humor--Great team! Highly recommend! Kathy V (Cedar Park) read more

I have had nothing but the best of luck with Capitol Tree Care. They are absolutely terrific. And today, Brian Garcia, Zack H., and Caleb were genuinely artists in the work they did on our trees. Will use them again, I'm certain. read more

Working with Capitol Tree Care was a positive experience from start to finish. We did an initial walk-around with James and he quickly understood what we wanted to accomplish, giving us good guidance along the way. His crew -- Brian, Cargil and Raul -- did an excellent job implementing the plan -- making many shaping cuts rather than just whacking limbs off, creating an overall artistic effect. We highly recommend them. read more

Had an excellent experience with them. I had ~10 trees in my yard (some quite large) that required different types of care -- some needed a lot of trimming to removed dead limbs and limbs hanging close to the ground, and a few other smaller ones needed full removal to avoid damage to my house and infrastructure. A big job that they managed to finish in a single day, hauling away all the debris from my yard. Professional and informative assessment, a hard-working and pleasant crew, and a happy end result. Very highly recommended. read more

The guys trimmed all our tree and did an awesome job. They were timely, considerate, very professional and friendly. I throughly enjoyed working with them, and the trees are very grateful and happy. They look beautiful and healthy. I will definitely call them to come again. Thank you and awesome job - Cargil W., Brian T., and Nico L. You guys are the best! Judy and George read more

My 2nd time using Capitol Tree. Their price is very reasonable, the owner James knows his stuff, and the crew Cargil and Warren did a great job and really take pride in doing what is best for the tree and customer. And great cleanup. read more

I had employed Capitol Tree Care in Sept 2022, and again in Jan 2025. They were excellent. The owner, James Burtchell, visited the lot multiple times and asked all the right questions about what I wanted. He made great suggestions, too. On the morning of the service, he walked the site with his crew, making sure that we covered everything. As a Certified Arborist (and several other qualifications), he totally knows trees. I knew that my beautiful Live Oaks were in good hands. In the past 32 years here, I've had 5 tree crews, and these folks are the very best. The crew was extremely well-trained and professional, working very well together. I especially thank Cargil Wright, Brian Garcia, and Nico Lane for doing such a great job!! I will be using this company regularly from now on. Cheers! read more

Wow - where to start. See pics - self explanatory. First, scanned the previous reviews....makes sense (5stars)...although the 1star review? Seeeems highly questionable, and doesn't mention anyone on their team (wouldn't trust that review). Regardless, James and his company are unreal - the true epitome of being experts in their field. I called randomly when I saw the vehicle on the road, because other people I tried to speak with, were just not responsive and unreliable. A quote for $1300 for 2 trees to be pruned/trimmed was wild...so I needed to compare. Very high value for the pricing, and quotes will vary depending on your work. Just call them - no need to look anywhere else, but keep reading for more detail. Honest company, an unbelievable amount of knowledge on trees, recommended I do certain things, not to do other things now & also when a better time to do them would be (due to the seasons and temps in the environment), and the workers were great / worked safe / and did an amazing job. You really don't know what great work is until it's complete and you experience something like this type of service. Some pictures here for proof. Will not be choosing anyone else again, and will absolutely use them again in the future for other projects and maintenance upkeep. Stop looking, and commit to this team to do the work for you. TOO EASY. read more

From the initial consultation with the owner James to the day-of work with the crew of Brian, Warren, Raul, and Cargil, this was a great experience! Communication was super throughout the process. The crew even consulted with me during their work to explain to me and show me how a couple of larger limbs needed to go for the overall health of the tree (they didn't want me to be surprised with the final result, which I really appreciated). My trees needed a lot of attention and they look so much better now! read more

They were perfect as always. Not only on time, cleaned up etc. but are knowledgable and thorough. They are really tree artists. Brian and Cargil are true professionals and wonderful to work with. D. Richardson read more

Great find. Richard Hawe (arborist) came out and gave me an honest quote with good advice for maintaining healthy trees. The crew (Brian, Cargil, Frank, and Cesar) showed up on time, were professional, courteous, and answered questions upfront. They worked quickly but efficiently and then had me inspect to ensure the work was performed to my specifications. Their operations were safe, they cleaned up the property and chipped some additional branches we had in our yard. Very glad to have found them and will use them every time. read more

Carril, Brian and Nico did a great job. They met all requests and were quick about it.

Brian and Cargil did a great job on our six year old trees. They also were very friendly and explained every thing they did for the long term benefit of our trees. Would certainly recommend this company. read more

James Burtchell and his crew of Brian and Cargil did a great job cabling an old Red Oak tree in my backyard. They Installed 3 steel cables to prevent the 3 diseased trunks from falling onto my house and nearby fences. The cables are up high and barely noticeable. James also used his Resitograph tool to test for decay in the stems and base of the Red Oak. It showed significant decay, so I feel the cabling was a good idea. They also did a good job cleaning up tree branches they cut for the cabling work. In addition, they installed two extra eye bolts from a tree limb and hung my chain, caribiners, and baby swing for me. I have also used James for tree pruning for over 10 years. read more

This company is Top Notch! From the owner James, the scheduler Andy, the three guys who came and trim the trees. You couldn't ask for a better tree service! Cargil, Bryan and Nate are all knowledgeable, very kind, take proud in their work. read more

Very professional service. Arborist listened to what we were trying to accomplish and gave me a few quotes for what I wanted done as well as work I'd need to have done in the future. Gave great feedback on some of our trees for future care as well. Brian Garcia, Cargil Wright, and Nico Lane came out and did the trimming to the exact specifications laid out on the initial visit. They made sure I was satisfied with their work during and after and did a good job cleaning up when they were done. Highly recommend Capitol Tree Care and will be using them for the rest of my trees next year. read more

I finally scheduled an estimate with Capitol Tree Care to take a look at some trees from the 2023 freeze. They showed up on time and provided an overview of the work along with an estimate. They were able to schedule the service a few weeks later since were fairly busy. The team showed up on time and were really professional. They did a great job and made sure to clean up the site afterwards. They also asked me to do a walk thru with them and make sure everything looked good. Everything turned out great. Brian Garcia, Cargil Wright and Nico Lane came out to prune my 17 year old oak tree. They were punctual, friendly, courteous, professional and addressed any concerns I had. Capitol Tree Care offered a very competitive quote and their ability to get us scheduled in promptly were the reasons for going with them for our tree care. Highly recommend. read more

We had one tree pruned and another tree removed. The process was easy and the crew that came out did everything in under 40 minutes. It was so impressive. This includes putting the branches in the shredder and cleaning up the debris that was on the road, sidewalk, and our driveway. They also gave us recommendations on where and what would be best to replant. Thank you Cargil W, Brian A, and Nico L for taking care of our trees! read more

Capitol is owned by an ISA Certified Arborist and forester, James Burtchell. He's also certified to assess and treat Oak Wilt and tree risk, and to reduce wildfire risk. So this company is not your average "tree trimmers." We've used James' services at our previous and current Austin homes, and this is how he works: You schedule an appointment and meet with him as he assesses the trees on your property. It's about a 20 minute appointment, during which you can ask him questions as he puts together his recommendations for trimming, treatment, feeding, whatever he thinks will help you take excellent care of your trees. He emails you the proposal, and if you decide you want to move forward, you accept it. Then his office manager calls you to schedule, and the person/crew shows up and follows his plan. He doesn't charge up front for his visit. They do charge a fee if you use a credit card, but you can mail them a check or auto-pay via your bank to avoid this. We've had Capitol's trimming and feeding services, both of which went well. The cost is about equal to what we've been quoted from other reputable local tree services, perhaps a bit higher, but my guess is that cost includes James' initial visit and opinion, which normally would cost about $100-125, if you had to call an arborist. This arborist is honest, low-pressure and practical in his recommendations, and his employees follow them. I've had bad experiences with "tree trimmers" in the past, so I know you can't trust just anyone. Our trees are part of our property value and enjoyment, so IMO they're worth protecting. If you feel the same, James may be your guy, too. read more

I had a very positive experience with Capitol Tree Care. Brian and Cargil were friendly and worked quickly, but took great care in making sure to respect my property and my trees. Brian Garcia and Cargil Wright did a great job in extreme heat. Highly recommend. They were prompt, careful and efficient.

James Burchall, the certified arborist with Capital Tree care, always does a good job of knowing exactly what needs to be done with our trees. We have been using Capital Tree care for several years and they always do a really nice job. Today, Brian Garcia and Raul Gonzalez trimmed up our trees, raise the canopies and made sure there were no cross branches. They cleaned up afterwards really well. I highly recommend them. read more
