I had James with Monarch come out to scope a large job. I needed almost 30 trees/brush removed to accommodate an upcoming pool plan. A handful of these trees were very large while another handful were down in a canyon. James came by on a Sunday, carefully counted and inspected every tree and provided a quote on site. I found the quote to be very fair. Two other vendors came by the following two days, they didn't spend the time to inspect the trees and just spit-balled quotes that were considerably higher than James'. One more desperate sales person said they'd beat the lower price by 20%, but when I told them James' price, he walked that back and said he'd lose money and could only do it for 5% less. Given he hadn't even spent much time looking at the trees, I opted to accept James' quote. Throughout the first consult, James was a true professional! James came on site with a large crew, and the job took three days, although weather and another job caused some unexpected delays, but James always called and kept me up to date on their schedules, and he always came back and finished the job without any suffering of quality. Everyone on his team was extremely polite, and they worked efficiently in 105 degree weather. They did a great job of cleaning up brush, branches, etc. The site was left very clean. Finally, I asked James to knock out a couple other small tasks not on the original quote and he obliged. I'm amazed at the work, and it was all at a very fair price. I believe it took longer than expected and there was more brush removed than perhaps anticipated, but James never hustled me for money, something contractors frequently do. There were several obstacles they had to maneuver around (garden / plants / fence / house) and didn't disrupt anything. This was a very large 20 year old tree that had suffered a shock and died. I had a very old, very large, very tall, dying Hackberry that needed removal. The fact that it straddled a 6ft. privacy fence-with half the tree hanging over the neighboring yard-only made the job more difficult. I contacted Monarch and James immediately replied. We set up an appointment that afternoon. He arrived on time, give me a fair estimate and we scheduled the removal. A day before the appointment, they confirmed the time they would be arriving the next day. On the day of the removal, his team arrived on time, assessed the job and got to work. It took them 4 1/2 hours to cut down and remove the tree. In addition to removing the brush, they cut and stacked approximately 2 cords of useable wood. I also took advantage of the stump grinding service. It took about 45 minutes to grind down a very large hardwood stump. Within 30 minutes of finishing the grinding, my yard was clean and all trace of the tree was gone (except the firewood). It took Monarch, James and the "Big Guns" about 6 hours to complete the job. We were very happy with the quality of their work and we will hire them again in the future! read more

These guys are awesome! Had them out in June for a 30+ year old hackberry that had long ago split in a couple of places and was literally being held together by several thick chains! I'm so impressed with the work they did! First of all communication and quote was super quick and everything done through text and email which as a mom of two small children was greatly appreciated. We worked with a different team before but the tree we needed trimmed was too tall and large for their equipment so we looked for a different one and through google found Monarch. When this company says " a cut above " they really mean it. So due to the storm I lost a tree in my yard. This was Friday night and on Saturday morning I started to call companies who do "tree service ". You know what......either they were closed on the weekend or the answering service said they would get back to me .......never happened ; However , I kept trying until I got James on a SATURDAY ( maybe the only guy working that day ) .He came right over understood the issue but his crew was in San Antonio working . He and his crew showed up on SUNDAY ! (who does that ?) .No overtime , no extra charges just get the job done AND they cleaned up more than just the tree. They moved all of my wife's plants. Due to the 2023 ice storm I had a huge and tough problem with a large, badly damaged hackberry needing removal, and multiple smaller limbs down throughout my property. When I was getting ghosted by most I contacted, who just seemed overwhelmed, Jeff was quick and responsive getting me an estimate, and James and Leon's crew did a fantastic job - I'd categorize it as "above and beyond". They were the only ones I contacted who seemed to appreciate this was a hazard situation, and they got me scheduled quickly. This slipped a couple of days, but given weather conditions and the volume of heavy, emergency work needed in Austin following the storm, I find that understandable. There was no escaping this would be an expensive job, and I got estimates from both iffy low-ballers and obvious gougers. Monarch was well towards the lower end, and they are up-front with their credentials (insurance, arbory certs, etc.). There was one minor, incidental property damage SNAFU, which didn't surprise me given the scale of the project, and James was quick to remedy it same-day himself (a nice guy, too). We had to have an old, very large, Arizona Ash removed from our front yard. James was here the whole day supervising the crew and assisting them with the take down. I asked for some firewood to be cut and I had some other requests so I could use some of the tree limbs and branches in some projects. James was super willing to provide me with my list. They were not only on time, they were early to show up, with a large crew, including one man who literally climbed up into each tree with a chainsaw to cut them from the top-down.
