    NY Strip Steak..excellent

I was very impressed with a hotel restaurant. JW had nice atmosphere, good service and most importantly great food. Being from the states, I happy to know you can find a good steak in the UK. We started with the crab soup and the mushroom soup, both excellent, for entrees my wife ordered the lobster cobb salad. Very good and nice portion of lobster. I ordered the NY strip steak ...It was a nice cut of meat, tender and tasty. We also ordered sides, baked potato and cream spinach. JW was well worth it

After months of hearing about "just how amazing the cheesecake" is, I finally got to the JW Steakhouse to try it for myself our first night in London. Dinner started with the bread and let's keep it 100, you cannot go wrong with some bread and butter. The butter had a sprinkling of salt which is always a plus in my book. Unfortunately, we didn't partake in an appetizer because I'm on a dreaded meal plan. Why I do this to myself? Probably because I'm a glutton for punishment. I digress. For dinner, I ordered the 10oz NY Strip and after confirming and re-confirming that I wanted it medium rare, it came out medium rare. Be warned, they will ask you to check the temperature once the steak makes it to your table. Regardless, it was cooked perfectly. Honestly, I couldn't tell you what he had as I was more so focused on my plate. To share though, we did order the hand cut chips and they were good. Not the best but far from the worst. However, let's chat about the main reason we were there: the cheesecake. When I tell you I heard about this cheesecake for months, I literally heard about it for months. Even when boarding the plane in Boston, my travel companion could not stop gushing about this cheesecake. We ordered the mini cheesecake as we were both quite full. To be fair, I was hesitant to eat it as it was just so cute but after some tempting I finally dove in. At first, it was not all it was cracked up to be. There was something about the sour cream filling on the top that was just not it. But then... right when I least expected it, the texture changed and instead of sour cream, it was actual cheesecake. And that's when I knew... it was legitimately the best cheesecake I've had (once you take that filling off the top). And my god... the crust. The crust was muy bien. We loved it so much that we went back later in the week for just cheesecake and wine! Service: The wait staff was rather attentive and didn't rush us at all. Attire: Our attire was dressy casual as we were in London for vacation. He was in jeans, button down, and a jacket while I wore tights, a plaid mini skirt, and a black bodysuit with heels. The crowd was mixed between those there for the (American) football game and people on business so if there was a dress code, it went out the window. Anywho, this is just one woman's opinion... go try it out for yourself and tell me what you think! n.b. we were there in October 2022 not December 2022.

Stayed here a few nights at this hotel and this restaurant is one of the best hotel restaurants I have been to. We ate here two nights. The first night we ordered the seafood platter. Most amazing oysters! Never seen them so huge. The lobster is to die's for. If you're not wanting something so big ( it is for 2) the lobster Cobb is definitely a must! Our table ordered one of those as well and it was spot on. The Parker house rolls they give you after ordering are so warm and pillowy soft. It's hard to only have the one. The salty crust is perfect. The second night I ordered the salmon which was perfectly cooked and had an amazing sauce. It was accompanied with sautéed spinach which I didn't see noted on the menu so a side isn't necessary. For the table we also ordered a filet, which the server insisted he cut into it then before she left the table to be sure it was cooked the his liking. Also ordered was the chicken and a tuna tar tar. The chicken was fantastic as well as the tuna tar tar. Sides we tried were the mashed potatoes, potatoes au gratin, onion rings all which were good. Dessert, the cheesecake was fabulous and the other evening we tried the special strawberry pavlova. Both were fantastic. Cheesecake is a heavier option so I would say they were equally as good. I always love the different textures in a pavlova. The crunchy meringue and creamy vanilla whipped cream hiding a scoop of lovely strawberry ice cream and topped with fresh sweet strawberries and little bit of a strawberry syrup. A nice lighter option definitely to share especially if you opt for the cheesecake. Fantastic! Highly recommend.

Located in the Grosvenor House Hotel London England. We had the breakfast buffet which was out of this world. It would take hours to list all the options. They have a pressed juice bar that is so fantastic it was unbelievable . You can have eggs or omlets to order and all sorts of wonderful options. The fresh rolls and pastry was like being in a bakery. We also went for diner one night and the menu was also fabulous. Of course we tried the fish and chips which were excellent. Can't rave enough about this restaurant and staff. Mr Dominik Feller is to be commended for his hard work and dedication. We will definitely return next time we are in London.

Alright, if you are stumbling across this review and wondering if JW Steakhouse is worthy of your hard earned money and time, YES is the answer. Throw your phone down and make your way to what is one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. If you are still near your phone and reading this feel free to continue reading ;) Let's start at the beginning, I am staying at the JW Marriott Grosvenor Hotel during my visit to London. After a long day having tea with the Queen and sailing down the Thames on my Yacht, okay... those last things are not true but I did make my way back to the hotel exactly 4 minutes before the JW Steakhouse closed. Thinking that We would not have a single chance of getting in, especially so close to closing, I was pleasantly surprised when we were met with open arms and escorted to a table right away. You would expect excellent service from an establishment of this caliber, and it's exactly what you get from start to finish. So, before I continue to the food, let me thank the staff for treating us so great. Okay, if you are still with me, I will get to the food. I do have to start off with this, I offered to split the 32oz Ribeye Tomahawk Steak just to experience it, but was met with a bit of resistance. Maybe due to the fact that we both would have been put in a coma about 20oz in! LOL. We did settle on the following; Burrata Salad, Crab Wedge Salad, and Fish and Chips. To start the Burrata salad is absolutely perfect. The Burrata is, hands down, the best I have ever had. The pairing of heirloom tomatoes, olives, and oranges is just the right amount of salt, acid, and sweet. God Bless the Queen, it is incredible. Once we tore bread apart and literally cleaned the plate to a shiny finish, we moved on to the Lump Crab Iceberg Wedge Salad. Yes, real crab, egg, and Louis dressing atop of incredibly fresh and crisp iceberg lettuce is something to write your Momma about. Wow. It is a very generous offering of food as well, easily split between two but I guess that depends on who fights harder for it! Hahaha. Alright, I have left the literal best for last... I am a bit of a fish and chips snob and until last night I had not had anything close to the "Frying Scotsman" in Portland Oregon (Cart Days). I mean this people, the Frying Scotsman ruined it for many restaurants because I simply couldn't find anything comparable. Well, the JW Steakhouse has not only met the challenge it has taken the #1 spot. If you know me, and had to listen to me rant and rave about Fish and Chips, you know how big of a deal this is. The fish, line caught cod, is light and meaty at the same time. The deep fried batter is incredible and literally dissolved in your mouth. It comes with house-made tartar sauce and I highly recommend you ask for malt vinegar. The combination is what I look for, completes the balance and we'll just the entire experience. As always I hope my review has helped you decide on where and what to eat... Enjoy!

    Cheers

Arrived for dinner for a late night reservation. The restaurant was a short walk from where I was staying - Park Lane Marriott and I informed this place served the best cheesecake in London. We were seated right away and the dinning room reminded me as if I was back in the U.S. I went with the rib eye and added prawns, side of au gratin potatoes and mushrooms. When my steak arrived It was on the rare side instead of medium rare so I had to send it back which really was disappointing. Both sides were yummy but the boneless rib eye was from Scotland - Aberdeen Angus which is leaner and isn't as marbleized as the USDA steaks which I prefer. If you're like myself I would highly suggest the bone in which is USDA here instead and a totally different beef from the no bone rib eye here. The peppercorn sauce was weak and lacked flavor but the standout of the meal was definitely the cheesecake. It was lighter in texture to what I'm use to and had a killer graham cracker crust. At 14 pounds or just under $22.00 U.S. dollars it was pricy but can feed four easily. If your visiting London and are in need of a decent meal I would recommend visiting the JW Steakhouse and definitely order the cheesecake! BTW review your bill carefully they tried to overcharge me over 30 Euros for 2 pieces of prawns which they removed totally due to the error.

    The Park Room bar/lounge area

Went here for a late dinner with friends last night. We are in London for the New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers football game at 'Spurs' stadium - lots of out-of-towners in the restaurant. Not sure if the restuarant's electric environment was due to the sports fan, or whether this was the usual vibe. This is Mayfair so it's hard to tell the origin of the energetic feel. Drinks: I had a "Perfect Rob Roy' In the Park Room of the hotel before heading over to the Steakhouse. The Rob Roy was indeed perfect. It was made exceptionally well by the bartender. In fact it was so good I had a second drink. I recommend having this drink in the Park Room. However, I can't guarantee that you'll be served by the Bartender who made my drink, but it's worth a try. Dinner: Dinner in the steakhouse was very good. I had a 6 oz filet prepared medium, and it was delivered as asked - medium. I had fries and asparagus with my steak. Although unremarkable, the fries and asparagus were prepared well. I decided to order a Rob Roy cocktail in the Steakhouse. Unfortunately this was not as good a cocktail as I had earlier in the Park Room. Specifically, what they brought me was not a perfect Rob Roy. It was in fact a Manhattan (American Bourbon) with too much sweet Vermouth instead of a combination of sweet and dry Vermouth - which is what perfect would be. It was also brought in a rocks glass instead of 'up' in a martini glass. One of the specialty drinks on the menu was a Manhattan so I suspect that a Rob Roy was outside of the skillset of my Steakhouse bartender. The slow service was forgivable given that it was 9 PM on a Friday night, and the restaurant filled with tourists - no doubt in town for the game. Overall, a good experience and meal. I'd recommend starting in the Park Room for cocktails then moving over to the Steakhouse for dinner accompanied by an 'uncomplicated' cocktail - choosing from one listed on the drinks menu.

My friend and I were staying at Grosvenor House and heard others rave about "the cheesecake" at the steakhouse. On our last night in London, we went in to treat ourselves to some cheesecake and wine for my friend's early birthday. It. was. worth. every. calorie. I'm unashamed to say I was scraping the plate. I loved how it wasn't overly sweet. Sometimes all of the additives in desserts take away from the main ingredients, and this was not the case here at all. It had the traditional sour cream topping and the perfect crust. Also, the service was great and I appreciated the hostess and waitress in helping me with the surprise!

    Interior
    Ilse V.

Our last night in London and this restaurant knocked it out of the park! The interior reminded me of an oldskool classy Chicago or New York restaurant with some modern touches. The lighting was set just a tad past romantically dim, making the room just a bit too light-deprived in my opinion. You do get a little candle on the table, I assume to assist with reading the menu.. The staff as well as the food were exceptional. We came across some new and interesting tastes, such as sweet potato mash with bourbon and marshmallows roasted on top. I had the Angus ribs and my husband had the lamb with mint sauce. Both were exquisite. For dessert we shared the cheesecake, which honestly can feed 6 people. This dish is cheesecake reinvented; with the outside made out of cookie and the inside filled with different inconsistencies of cheesecake. Would definitely recommend this place for any hearty meatlover that also enjoys above-and-beyond service.

Amazing cheesecake and I don't even like cheesecake!!

They had room for party of 4 and it was Monday night, so "butcher" pricing, which means you pay what they pay by the weight for your meat. My favorite was the sweet potato, which was ash roasted for 10 hours and you could taste it. They all went will with the steak that came out in about 20 minutes, pre-sliced with a nice presentation.
