This place was AMAZING. The sides were so amazing these are some of the best things I have ever had in my life. The steak was also goof I got the basic one medium well. Valerie was our server and she was so beautiful and nice. At the end, she gave us this metal knife to exchange for a free ice cream. so cuuuute

Food: They give you a nice popcorn for a starter. Steak was great! I also loved the Truffle Mac n' Cheese. The ice cream was also a nice touch. Service: Service was good! Servers were attentive. They split our check with no issue. Ambiance: Nicely decorated. Not loud so it was good for talking with friends. Could also be a nice date night spot.

We had a great meal at Flat Iron! Several people recommended we eat here so we made sure we did. They have several locations - we went to the one in Kensington. They have their brand down to a science - specialize in one thing and do it very well. From the popcorn appetizer to the delicious steak and sides, to the soft serve cone on your way out the door / perfect all the way around!

My wife and I came to Flat Iron at about 830 on a Tuesday night and had a great meal. We had been over at Dishoom and didn't want to wait the hour plus to get a table so we took a chance to walk around and find something else. We came across Flat Iron and luckily they were able to seat the two of us even though it was bumpin inside. The concept is simple: providing customers with a good quality steak at an affordable price. Because of that, the menu is pretty pared down and they seem to focus on a few things to do them all well. I got the flat iron and my wife got the Scottish Bavette. Both were great and just needed some finishing salt to reach their full potential. The chips were hot and crispy and delicious, as was the truffle Mac. My wife got the lime and mint fizzy drink and I got the rose lemonade which was awesome. Overall, great dinner especially Wilde it wasn't planned. On top of the food being great, the service was EXCELLENT all the way around. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a more casual steak experience.

Menu served as place mats. Meat cleaver knives.

This review is for Flat Iron Kensington on Young Street. Our waiter was excellent. I did not get his name but he said he has only been working there for a month. He's friendly, and service minded. He clearly likes his job. Upsold us on the tomatoes which were special of the night and boy are we glad he did. They were delicious! Loved the cuts of meat, too. Lean and not too fatty. My husband and I each ordered the Flat Iron steak and Wagyu beef skirt steak. Both were supposed to be cooked medium rare, but the Wagyu was more like rare-plus because it was purple in the center. That's actually how I like it, so I didn't mind it at all. It was so tender. The steaks were pre-sliced (in Hawaii, we refer to this as pupu-style). So we could easily share both. The time it took to order and when we got our food did not take more than 15 minutes. It was quick, considering how busy it was that evening . The restaurant itself is quite noisy and bustling. Casual dining on wooden chairs and small tables. The three sides that we ordered were quite small but perfect for two people to share and we finished it all.

First proper meal in London, both food and service are excellent. Our serve Launa is very sweet and friendly. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Wagu steak, salad and amazing tomatoes

So good! Ice cream as you leave is the best! Steak and chips are delicious! Make a reservation or be prepared to wait.

My friend and I went there for dinner while in Fulham, and were taken aback by the interior, that was the epitome of cool everywhere you looked. We could see why it has a great reputation. We decided that the best way to sample a place we hadn't been before was to order and share every dish. To start with, we went for Smoked beef tartare with kimchi and duck egg yolk, chilli fried baby squid will dill aioli along with ox cheeks with confit garlic and bone marrow crumb. The combination was just great and set us up nicely for the main course. Of course, when in Hanger & Cellar, it would be a crime to miss out on the steaks, so we plumped for 300g of bone in rare breed sirloin and 300g of USDA hanger steak. They were matured, tender and tasted superb. I want all my steaks to taste like this! On the side, we had chips, herbs salt, aioli and then poutine with goats curd and jalapenos to make a real treat of it. The food was cooked with real skill, and the two steaks were some of the best we've ever eaten. Amazingly, we made room for dessert and both eyed up the affogato made of vanilla ice cream, espresso and almonds on the menu. Good choice. Along with the smooth service, it ended the night on a real high note. Can't wait to go back.

Then had the chocolate and orange brownie which was really good. The coffee was not a standard espresso but tasted more like filtered, however a good filtered coffee. Give this place a go for something different, and let's finally make this spot work for a change! :-)

The average meal per person here including a cocktail, starter, mains + service charges can go anywhere between £40 - £80 (depending if you get the steak or not). It's not the cheapest place to have steaks. I've had better steaks else where, but I do enjoy the service and the restaurant as a whole. Today I am having the 200g Cheese Burger - £13.50, comes with chips. They forgot to ask how I wanted my beef cooked, so it came well done. They do serve decent food, I wouldn't say it's mind blowing but it's neither bad. Not much to complain about. I would bring friends and family, they have a huge dining area. Its kids friendly and they also serve a halal menu. There's also 5pm - 9pm happy hours on selected cocktails, but it's only available on the bottom floor/ bar area.

From this point on things went downhill VERY SLOWLY (I say slowly as that is how the rest of our order was brought out). We sat there for about 40 minutes after the starter tray was removed. During this time, another party of 5 people came in and sat right behind us, ordered, had their entire meal brought out, and our order was still not brought out. Mind you, we did not order anything special. The the manager walked by and asked me "Is everything ok?" I said NO our food was not there and our drink cups were both empty. I asked for a refill on my wife's Coke and my Water, he did have the drinks refilled and had the chops to actually ring out the refill on the coke BEFORE refilling the drink. He did nothing else to check on the other issues or even offer to see what the problem was. Our original server was totally missing in action. One other server cleared the starter plate and then another brought the meal when it finally came. Just terrible service! Near the end, our original server came back and brought the bill. I paid via my Amex and she asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said "No, not this time", to which she responded "I did kind of leave you stranded for a while". Mind you, I don't like not tipping. I know they make their living from the tips, but when the service was this terrible, I just could not bring myself to tip. This is the first time in my life I did not tip a server, so that should tell you how bad the service and management staff was. Then if all this was not enough, on my Amex I was billed twice for the meal. I would tell anyone that is looking for someplace in Westfield to eat, do NOT eat at The Meat Co.

I have to thank that crazy lady who snapped at me for asking if I could have dim sum, thanks lady, really, thank you. What a treat! Roxie is a hidden gem in Fulham, with totally amazing steaks at the most ridiculously good prices. That first night I had surf and turf with fillet and prawns for £15.45, and it was DELICIOUS. The double cooked chips and courgettes were equally tasty. I tucked on to apple crumble with white chocolate ice cream for dessert - and I have to say it was one of the best I've ever had. Because it's also a wine bar, the wine menu is extensive and well priced. And the waiters are knowledgable and speedy but not overbearing. We've been back once since and I had the exact same meal, and it was just as good second tom round. We'll be back for SURE! Maybe NYE 2014 :)

There's no place that puts a smile on your face better than Jack's Place…read more One of the only decent steak houses left in London that doesn't cost the earth, Jack's place overflows with good, old-fashioned home cooking and top secret family recipes passed down through generations (well, I say top secret. They'd probably tell you if you asked. They're that friendly.) Jack's place has the most fascinating history of any restaurant I've been to. Opened in 1968 by retired boxer, Jack Talkington, it is the epitome of hidden gem. Do not be fooled by how easy it is to walk right past it on the busy York road. Once you step in, you can still hear the buzz from the knees ups they used to have, where Jack would notoriously chop off the ties of the businessmen whilst they weren't looking (Jack's place was and is still not for the stiff upper-lipped). The walls are lined with hundreds of ties collected over the decades like medals. If those walls could talk...well, they practically did. Looking like a cross between a vintage boutique and a war memorial museum, every inch of the walls are adorned with trinkets, well-deserved awards, and framed snaps of celebrities on their visits. If it's good enough for Jack Nicholson, it's good enough for me! Jack's Place has well-stocked bar and a menu sporting a few select dishes; quality over quantity - because spending 3 hours digesting the menu isn't fun for anyone. I would suggest wearing loose-fitting clothes to accommodate the generous portions. I started with their garlic butter prawn special, which I don't usually order, finding it difficult to de-shell a prawn in public whilst still looking mildly human. However, the couple on the next table made theirs look delicious (not only do I read the papers over your shoulder - I perve over your meals from a distance. Can't take me anywhere, really...except Jack's Place) so I opted for the same, made extra special by Angela (Jack's daughter) bringing me a twee little bowl of hot lemon water and a mini towel. Their king sized T-bone steak was cooked to perfection, with a classic mushroom sauce and a decent size portion of chips and veg to go with it. Would recommend: Their pecan and butterscotch cheesecake. Tip: Jack's is an intimate little place that would be great for a first date.
