If you're looking to have a classic Sunday roast with fun vibes, you've got to come to Blacklock! The staff here are incredible and made the meal that much more memorable. We originally had a 5:45 reso, but were so hungry, we tried our luck and showed up 30 minutes early....and still got seated right away despite it being packed! The hosts were really nice about it too. We already knew we wanted to get the Sunday Roast All In which includes: Pork Loin, Beef Rump, Lamb, Yorkshire puddings, duck fat roasted potatoes, carrots, greens, unlimited gravy, and three sauces. I'm not usually a meat and potatoes fan, but this was delicious and such a fun and unique experience (for Americans anyway). We topped off our meal with some scrumptious White Chocolate Cheesecake with winter berries. Special shoutout to Agus our waitress - she was funny, friendly, and so attentive. Give her a raise!
Made a res for the Sunday roast in the evening and had my expectations beyond met!! giant Yorkshire puddings, the meat was succulent and tender, amazing variety of veggies but the star of the show was 1000% the gravy. Incredible rich flavor and was almost more like a jus - asked for refills because it was that good. Service was actually top notch as we had one person running late but they allowed us to put in orders ahead of time. Our res was the last seating of the day and the restaurant closed shortly after, but we were allowed to stay and eat at our own leisure. Ambiance was pretty lively and cozy, I enjoyed it. Top notch experience and filling portions, highly recommend
best filet mignon i have ever had in my life. peppercorn sauce was the bomb. a pub like atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. 26 pounds for a large filet. the sweet potatoes were amazing. service was spectacular. loved our Italian waitress. adorable. drinks were good. the salad with anchovies was okay. a little watery. the white chocolate cheesecake was ridunculously phenomenal.
Very lively place with music loud but the staff amazing and friendly. Came highly recommended to eat here as their Sunday roast is one of the best London has to offer. Me and the wife ordered Their All-In which was amazing and for starter we ordered the Mushroom on a sourdough toast.
We wanted to do Sunday roast in London at Blacklock there are several options around London We lucked out and got reservations at shoreditch! This is a little ways outside the tourist district but an easy bus/tube ride. This is hands down the best Sunday roast we've had in London! The food was so excellent! We got the roast to share which had pork, lamb, and beef. The gravy (that they will refill) was addicting! All the meats were perfectly tender! The Yorkshire pudding was excellent & was great for dipping in the gravy! We added the side of cheesy cauliflower, it was excellent but the roast veggies that come with the roast were better. The white chocolate cheesecake for dessert is a must do! Service was also excellent! The staff here is so kind! This is a more expensive Sunday roast but worth it and the quality is great!
Wow!! People line up before they open so come with a reservation! Restaurant is full in minutes of opening. Sunday roast is only on Sundays and until sellout. We got the all in which is 29 pounds per person. For the value and what you're getting it is a good deal. We left stuffed. Comes with lamb, pork, beef, potatoes and cabbage and Yorkshire pudding. The meat was delicious and well cooked. I loved the Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Ask for all the horseradish. Highly recommend.
SUNDAY ROAST for the WIN!!! We had researched this, months before our trip. One of our friends coincidentally mentioned that he tried to dine there but hadn't made a reservation and was not able to get in. We booked a 11:45 table about a month and a half before we travelled. We arrived at 11:30 and saw a few other people waiting outside. The restaurant opens at noon. When we stepped in, we were greeted with smiles and taken to a table where the host asked if we had been before. My partner told him that it was our first time, and he gave her a huge hug and told her that everything would be okay. I said hey, where's mine? And he walked over and me a big hug as well. A server came and asked what kind of water we wanted, flat or bubbly. After the water was delivered, I asked for a glass of ice and that was also promptly delivered. We each ordered a mocktail to have something to drink beside water. I got a Wavelength Spritz and she got the Lemonade Cooler. Our server came and introduced himself and asked if we had any questions. The menu is pretty straight forward. We placed our order and soon we had food! She ordered the Beef Roast. I ordered the Lamb Roast. Each comes with two slices of meat, seasonal veg, duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and as much gravy as you need. We also ordered Cauliflower & Four Cheeses as a side. Everything was on point delicious. There wasn't a single disappointment other than we had to leave after we were done eating. We shared the meats so we each tasted both. Definitely worth a return visit if we ever get to London again.
The value of this place is insane. The steaks were perfectly cooked and well seasoned and the price is incredibly reasonable. A couple cocktails, a couple glasses of wine each, a couple steaks all for 100 pounds?! Insane. Highly recommend...servers were awesome too. Oh yeah the sweet potatoes
A triple threat! Fantastic food/drinks, service, and ambiance. We started off with some seasonal spritzes which were flavorful and light for summer. We also had the beef dripping chips (yum- must order!!) with gravy to start and since I have a dairy sensitivity the waiter offered-insisted to make another gravy with no butter which was incredibly thoughtful. My boyfriend and I ordered the steak sarnie to share, however they misunderstood and brought two sandwiches (which ended up working out because the sandwich was so good I ate it all !) but took the second off of the bill. The overall customer service was outstanding and one of the best if not the best I have ever experienced at a restaurant. When in London this is a must try! I can't wait to return and try their famous Sunday roast as well in their upscale, cozy "pub".
Sunday Roast like your mum's if your mum was Julia Child. Delicious roast and trimmings at a fantastic price. My son drank the gravy!!
Very solid Sunday roast. Went with the all-in, which included lamb, pork and beef. Lamb was the highlight for me, though the drackling with the pork was also great. Thought the gravy was also a standout. Only disappointment was very few starter options, and I love starters.
Wow. What a great steakhouse, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of London. The staff were fun and very helpful with choosing orders. We couldn't make up our minds on the cuts of meat so we just went with the "All In" which is essentially a pile of grilled meat. Perfectly cooked, grilled meat! The mango beer was also good and paired well with the food. The cheesecake was fantastic and came in a literal sheet tray that they scoop out of in front of you. It's a great place for a date or for a group of friends to hang out after work.
The service was amazing and food was to die for! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone in London, even if it's out of your way it's worth the trip! The food is reasonably priced for being so delicious. I ordered the fillet and it was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The broccoli salad was also so good! I wish I could come back for more :(

Wow, this is a must-eat-at for an meat lovers! They offer such a varitey of cuts of meats and all the ones we tried were cooked to perfection. And for the quality of food you get, I think this place is reasonably priced. The restaurant is not far from Old Street station and has a pub feel, but slightly more refined. The staff was really friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. I highly recommend a reservation though as even when we came here on a Monday night, it was busy. I don't think you can go wrong with almost anything on the menu. Everything we had was delicious, and you can tell the chef's really know how and understand how to cook and flavor meat to perfection. The most surprising item though, is the White Chocolate Cheesecake. It is served out of a dish, tiramisu style, and is one of the best desserts I have had in a while. It was not too rich but so flavorful. So when you come here, make sure to save room for dessert! read more
What a delightful place to visit and eat and entertain. I was excited when I read the menu. So many choices. This place was amazing probably the most incredible Sunday lunch I've ever seen. Meat piled high with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. It's eye popping and stunning what arrives at your table. Just look at the photo that I posted. Without a doubt THE best meal I've had in London and honestly England. Come for their Sunday Roast, you will not regret it! Long review ahead but here's our story: when asking locals what British food to eat many mentioned Sunday Roast. Intrigued, we changed our initial Sunday dinner reservations to another day so we could find a spot serving this. I spent lots of time researching and reading and ultimately decided on this Blacklock location, and it was a memorable one! We arrived at our 18:15 (6:15 p.m.) reservations. We had seating requests and were accommodated and sat immediately. Their restaurant is popping on a Sunday! Loud, busy, modern but with a twist of old school decor. There's a bar and lots of seating for small groups and pairs. It was a vibe, but what made our meal was the staff--we spent almost three hours because we were having so much fun (and food). Pepe, one of the managers, went above and beyond for us. He was charming, personable, such a fun guy to chat about any and everything with, and he took such great care of us. He also provided three complimentary dishes, which left us in grateful shock. The bartender even went out of his way to walk to another pub to grab a drink we requested that they didn't have. This is the type of service that makes you feel like family, a celebrity, or just well cared for. So we came on Sunday, and they only serve one thing--Sunday Roast. I mean sides are available too but that's what people come for. Proteins are: beef, lamb, pork, and cauliflower for veg folks. All of us ordered one of each meat protein, all of us agreed this was the best meal, all of us were left in a happy food coma. I had the Day Aged Pork Loin Sunday Roast which comes with two pieces of pork, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, seasonal veggies, and loads of gravy. The pork was delicious, fatty, and melted in your mouth. The gravy was addictive and he kept topping us off. The roast on the veggies was superb--well seasoned and tasty and the potatoes were crispy and creamy. It was my first time having Yorkshire pudding which was savory and reminded me of a popover. We received a complimentary Cauliflower and Four Cheeses which was reminiscent of mac and cheese, just with cauliflower. Portions were well-sized, I had to take some to-go but I was so close to trying to eat it all cause it was that good! Of course, we weren't done. The group had Rhubarb and Apple Crumble and a Bowl of Ice Cream for dessert. I was too full, did take a bite of the crumble which wasn't for me--just a bit too sour. He also provided complimentary White Chocolate Cheesecake with Spring Berries which was airy, sweet, and creamy. Seriously, everything here is so good and if you love meat you'll love this place. Blacklock is a well-beloved chophouse chain found throughout England. They're spoken highly of for their steaks and Sunday Roasts. Highly recommend this spot to all--locals love it and tourists will get a taste of British fare. Reservations are highly recommended as they book up fast! Went here for Sunday roast and it was great food. The service was so-so and the all-in special was pretty good but light on the meat. Is there a meat-rationing going on that we don't know about? You will be better off to order individual entree's instead of the special. read more

Phenomenal place! First timer and just visiting so I did a little reading and folks generally mentioned Blacklock. Took a little bit to get a table but once ordered the food came out speedily. I had the "all in" platter which included beef, pork, and lamb. The food was fantastic!!! Highly recommend if you're ever looking for a Sunday roast for dinner. The roasted veggies and the potatoes were delicious. The gravy was a perfect accompaniment that I literally could have drank a few of those gravy boats. Friendly staff! read more
I am so impressed. I didn't go for Sunday roast but I can't imagine why they wouldn't crush it for all the Brits. We were a table of 6 and needed a lot of hand holding and explanation of the menu. Also we had two vegetarians with us. The beef was spectacular. Two people at our table got lamb and raved about it. And the two veggie dishes (celeriac and halloumi) might have been the crowd pleasers out of everything. Shocking I know. The staff were on point. Atmosphere cool and trendy without going over the top. I had to ask what every single table was getting .... See pic. It's the cheesecake but not a typical cheesecake we eat in 'merica more of a delicious shortbread cookie with the most amazing cream topped over it. Fckn bomb. read more

This chop house does everything perfectly that needs to be done well, and has the good sense to focus on that. It's a no-nonsense establishment that understands its customers and provides impeccably cooked food made from top-quality meats, with friendly but not smarmy waitstaff to make everyone feel welcome and at home. By focusing on what counts and not the unnecessary trimmings, it manages to provide a fantastic experience at a very reasonable price, and that's not even considering the lower-prices "butcher pricing" Mondays. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly, with the only consideration being that groups are limited in size. This is not a party place. It's a serious-about-the-right-things chop house. read more

I came here for a Sunday Roast and it was amazing! The place itself is pretty cool, with a good vibe, and very nice and attentive staff. I didn't have a reservation therefore I was given the option to wait for 20 minutes at the bar. It was actually a good thing since they have a good selection of cheap cocktails and also their Blacklock Pale is a pretty good beer. I had the Lamb Leg roast that I really liked as the meat was good and perfectly cooked while also all the sides were tasty, especially the roasted potatoes. Definitely worth a try and go back! read more

Excellent service and tasty food! The host and wait staff were all very attentive and friendly. We had the 'all in' meal that started with a nice trio of appetizer bites. The main was a combo of beef, pork, and lamb They were all quite tasty. The meat was perhaps a tad dry, so we ended up ordering some chop sauce to go along with it and that was a great complement to the meats. We also had the bone marrow spread which was great. read more
Open only 9 weeks before 12-17-2018, the brits already know of this place. They open at 12pm, which is when we got there. By 12:15pm most of the restaurant was full of Sunday Roasters. Sunday's are their Sunday Roast day and people come for their "All in", which consists of beef, lamb, and pork all on one dish and decorated with Yorkshire pudding and sauces on the side. We came to see what all the fuss was about. Started off with a Velvet Gimlet drink, which came in a cute little glass and was very syrupy but strong. 5 pounds. Also ordered the "Few of my favorite things" drink, which was interesting because I thought it was sweet and a little bit bitter. I would recommend the Favourite things drink. Order the velvet gimlet if you like sweet drinks. Our food came out and it was huge mound of meat, veggies, potatoes, and yorkshire pudding (a type of bread). You only get the Yorkshire pudding on Sundays and it's made by dropping dough into hot animal fat I hear. The lamb, beef, and pork were all juicy and delicious! I loved the beef especially. The lamb wasn't gamey at all. I enjoyed dipping the lamb into the apple sauce and then the mint sauce and then eating it. The horseradish sauce seemed like a generic horseradish sauce, not really spicy. It was good for a beginner level of spice. The mint sauce was vinegary and not too strong on the mint. The service was great and our waitress was attentive. Our waters were always full and any requests we made were quickly fulfilled. Highly recommend this place for Sunday roast! We also came on butcher Monday for their discounted prime rib. That was also excellent! The meat was so juicy and beautifully cooked! read more

I am not one to write reviews... but this place deserves it. Blacklock has the sweetest staff that go above and beyond to give you a dinner that you won't forget. We started the night with a round of cocktails that were all 10/10. The lemon drop and Rum punch were to die for. Then we opted for the pre chop bites which were interesting but tasty. We ordered the "All in" and a porter house, sweet potato and kale & parm salad. They were all unbelievable. The meat was juicy and packed full of flavor. The sauces were all complimentary of the meats. The sides were also super bright and delicious. Last we had the white chocolate cheese cake and chocolate ice cream. THE CAKE WAS MINDBLOWING. Our servers: Chris and Franchessco went above and beyond to serve us. If you're craving good meat, come here! read more

This place is a must try! We ate here on our last night in London and it was amazing! Every single dish we ordered was phenomenal. We had 4 people in our party and all of us could not stop raving about the food, but even more impressive was the top notch service from every single employee. We initially came because we heard they had the best cheesecake, and let me tell you, truly was the best cheesecake I've ever had! I can't say enough good things about this place.
