Amazing servers and food was so great they go out of their way to make your meal memorable!

I probably should have looked up the menu before I went inside because I didn't realize I would have to cook my own steak until after I was seated and ordered water. So once I was locked in, I thought the steak would come quickly given I had to cook it but it actually took awhile. It also doesn't come sliced so you truly have to slice it, butter the stone and salt it. Since it is so hot, you'll notice that the entire restaurant is filled with smoke from everyone cooking their steak at a high temp. It was to the point that there was a cloud of smoke and my hair smelled like steak. Moving on to the food, the steak was good as you continued to build the flavor on the stone. The mashed potatoes were really delicious and the broccoli probably didn't need the toasted almonds on it. My bill took a long time to come - I had to ask for it twice. They also include tip and the overall costs of the meal is on the pricey side considering you have to cook your own steak. I probably wouldn't go back for these reasons but if this is your kind of thing, then you might enjoy it. read more

I had the most spectacular experience at Steak and Co. that is so far my best London dining. I sat at the bar and the bartender has an absolutely spectacular personality very engaging and very attentive! In fact, she's the best service person I have encountered in my stay in London. The beef carpaccio made my eyes roll. It was so delicious! Tender cuts of beef and crisp arugula a fabulous sauce! I also had a Caesar salad salad and they put the dressing on the side for me per my request. It was done very well. The staff overall is very attentive. I wouldn't hesitate to go there! read more

We came here on a weeknight after the pub we tried to go to was not taking any walk-ins. Although this place was packed, we were able to walk in without reservations. I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken and my partner ordered the fish and chips. We were both happy with our dishes and thought the service was good too. The only complaint is that the fries and Parmesan chicken could have had more flavor. The ambiance of the place is very nice and decorated inside. We wandered into this place after a long 9 hour tour all over lower UK. The tour fed us lunch, but we needed dinner. It's nice, but not like jacket required kind of place. It was busy for a late Thursday night, but we were sat right away. Service was excellent, everyone from the hostess to our waiter were on it, attentive and polite. I merely had to raise my gaze and catch the waiter's eye and he was over in a flash to take our orders. I had the Brazilian filet, (pictured) and it was absolutely mouth watering. My wife had the same, and mom had something else I don't even remember because I was lolling my head from side to side enjoying the steak. Tough review to write as the waiter and manager were very pleasant and worked to do the right thing. I cannot in good conscience not report my dining experience. Reservations were accepted online and honored in the restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful and quite busy. Ordering was quick and easy with my waiter after one of the items I was looking forward to trying was no longer available on this evening. After Approximately 30 minutes of waiting for our dinner my waiter returned to report that the steak I had ordered was no longer available. Not great but life goes on, he offered to upgrade my steak at no charge, I accepted the offer. The manager came to visit and apologized for the situation, again no big deal. After another 30 plus minutes 3 out of 4 meals arrived to the table leaving my wife without dinner. Another 10 minutes passed and her dish is finally delivered by the manager who apologized again and said he was picking up the entire check. Very classy indeed. Unfortunately the upgraded steak was absolutely dreadful. Cooked unevenly and not a stitch of seasoning to be found. The steak was as poor a quality of Rib eye (tomahawk) as you can find. The fish and chips were not crisp and lacked seasoning. The burger was good as was the chicken schnitzel. Again, extremely impressed with the gesture of a free meal but I would have rather paid for a great meal. 2 stars only for the waiter and the manager who tried to do the right thing. read more

My wife and I were visiting London in September 2024, staying at an AirBnB in Gloucester Road. It was but a short walk to Steak & Co. but would have been worth twice the distance. We don't often get out to proper steak house for dinner, so this was a real treat for us. And boy did we enjoy it. The food was just so full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The meat, the vegetables, everything was amazing. Of course we enjoyed a very good bottle of Pinot Noir to accompany the food. It's amazing how everything tastes so much better in a place like this. The ambience inside the restaurant was really chill and inviting. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. It was but a short walk to Steak & Co. but it was a long slow waddle back with full bellies satiated. read more

Contrary to its name, the steak here is nothing special. Out of our party of five, everyone preferred the fish & chips. Go for the cocktails, desserts and steak entrées. A couple people in our party enjoyed their steaks; however, the Cacio e pépé was lackluster and both the mac 'n cheese and broccoli did not taste house made. The lemon tarte and gelato selections were very good. Our entrées did not all come out together; however, the staff was apologetic and we appreciated their efforts. Overall, I would recommend going for a cocktail and/or dessert before or after a nice dinner, but based on the low quality of most of our entrées I would not return for dinner. read more

For what it was if was very very good. The steaks were cooked perfect; good quality and the staff was so helpful and kind and happy. We really enjoyed ourselves. The sides were good. And the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best we've had in London. read more

Our server was the best, he helped with recommendations but wasn't pushy, more than that so very friendly (young brazialian gent) the atmosphere was very nice-now we went Sunday 1pm-2pm so not a large crowd & I have to assume they get them, they so take reservations. They have delicious chicken(lady next to me said tastes like the chicken was grown out back) We both had steak and truffle mash-again mine was the chocolate fed and again my server was helpful on cooking time, i didn't want it bloody but did want flavor we deemed the cooking time "long medium" it was perfect!!! My wife and I dine out often, this includes at Michelin star establishments, internationally and locally in the US. Our visit to Steak and Company Gloucester Rd, is now at the top of our list for dining experiences. This is largely due to our server Aaron, he truly was one of the best we have ever had wait on us. Aaron is very knowledgeable of the product, had very friendly conversations with us, and made the perfect recommendations based on our taste and cut preferences. Upon ordering a expressso martini for desert, Aaron said he would make it personally as he "makes of the best", he was not wrong in that either. I must add, the other waitstaff and runners were amazing as well, as was the manager who came over to talk to us. Shout out to the chef and his staff for steaks that were coooked to perfection, and we can't forget to mention the hostess who was the friendliest ever. We cannot wait to go back to this restaurant, it is a gem in London dining scene. The entire restaurant team that was working during our visit, are great ambassadors of the company. read more

Wow what a surprise! I've had great steak all over the world and this place is right up there. For several reasons. First the quality of the meat was excellent. I got a full 8 oz. Filet not like 5 oz in some places. It was reasonably priced and came with flavored butter and salt and a smoking hot personal grill for me to cook it to my preference. HEAVEN! It's a nice casual date place BUT they need to do better with the ventilation your clothes will definitely smell a little from all the meat cooking around you. That was the only small negative I had. It took 30 minutes once seated for the server to even acknowledge us, another 25 minutes for water and a beer to be served, and another hour for entrees to arrive. The server was apologetic and nice, but clearly understaffed and unable to keep tabs on the needs of our table. Zero stars. Terrible customer service. Booked a reservation for Christmas Day via Open Table. Arrived to the restaurant and the staff abruptly told us they were closed and to leave -- they didn't even come to the door but shouted across the restaurant toward us. I'm not sure why I was able to make a reservation for a time the restaurant was closed but the decent thing to be would have been to greet us at the door nicely and try to help...especially on Christmas Day. Over all pretty good food. I ate here about 6 months ago on another business trip. Both times ate at the bar. Food is good the steak comes rare and you slice and cook it as you like. Butter and salt choices are really good. Sauces (I'm not a steak sauce guy) are ok. Drawback tonight was the manager could only ring in orders so it took a bit for him to get to bar to ring in my order. Bartenders were working hard as I was leaving but place was packed so manager was doing it all, seating, bar food orders and follow up after food came out. This is one of the worst restaurants in the WORLD I have eaten in. It gets two stars because the steak was not too bad. The onion rings were pretty good too. We ordered wine off of the menu only to be told they didn't have it. Then we made a different choice. Guess what??? They didn't have that wine either! The worst thing of all is it's the loudest restaurant I have ever been in. (BTW - I've been in pubs while people were watching rugby, football, and more.). Why???!!! They pump hideous music in to the restaurant at a volume that requires diners to speak over it . . . and then diners have to speak over the diners . . . and so forth and so on. We spent over £100+ for a mediocre meal and a third-rate bottle of wine. I believe the kitchen staff and wait staff are suffering at the hands of bad management decisions. My high rating is certainly not for the food but for the amazing service ! Our waitress was so accommodating and helpful, especially being as busy as she was. On point with any and everything. You could tell she valued her job & wanted to make sure our needs were met. I ordered some chicken leek dish & had to send it back; chicken tasted weird and I was turned off by the creamy looking sauce which I requested be put on the side. This is a great place for meat lovers. You finish your dish on a hot stone with a variety of seasoning and butter choices. The beef is good, and I like to order the mixed vegetables and finish grilling them on the stone as well. Wine selection is not extensive but what they have is good. read more

This is my first time coming to Steak and Co, my friend was very excited as well because it was his birthday. We got seated and staff was lovely, greeted us, had a bit of banter and explained our questions really well. We ordered our food and the food came almost right away. After we had our food, we asked for the dessert menu. The staff was really busy at this point and our server did not seem to pay any attention to us except for the other few tables she was serving as well. It took us 15-20 minutes to get to order our desserts and we waited for another 30-40 minutes until we got our desserts. It only came when we wanted the bill and to cancel our desserts. We also asked if we could have a refill of water but two other staff dismissed our request and seemed to just hang around and only looked after the other guests. It seems like they did not want to serve us at all. When we finished our food and got our bill, our server was really rude when we said we did not want to pay for the extra service fee as we thought the service was very unacceptable towards the end of our meal, which we explained. Would personally never visit this restaurant again. Such a shame the hospitality ruined my friend's birthday. read more

A couple nights ago my fiance and I dined at this restaurant in London across from the queen's theatre; we happened upon it after a play, were famished and ready for some delicious steak. Well, we were seated and the staff already seemed too busy to give us their full undivided attention. They were very impatient and did not seem to want to be there. While I understand they might have been short staffed and possibly severely underpaid, it still makes it no excuse to the company. I noticed that the menu was the kind where you cook the food for yourself on a stone slab that they provide to you. I was uncomfortable with this, but luckily he said that the cook would be able to do this process for me. I ordered a medium rare ribeye with chips and my fiance ordered a pork belly with mashed potatoes. The couple who arrived after us received their food first. After 30 minutes, our food finally came, only with disappointing results. The meat they cooked was flavourless, and left the seasoning up to the customers. While this is fun and interesting for some, it's viewed as lazy behaviour for the cook, especially if the food they do cook, is awful. The cook or restaurant should be able to accommodate customers who are uncomfortable with cooking their own meal at a sit down restaurant. The mashed potatoes tasted as if they were ready-made from a box, though, those potatoes at least had flavour. My fiances pork belly was hard, chewy and also, unsurprisingly, flavour incompetent. We are not picky eaters, and I was able to salt and pepper my steak and get on with it. Though it was difficult at first BC it had been well done around the edges. The love of my life tried very hard to give the pork belly a chance but it was bland and painful, even to watch. I implored him to ask them to replace it with another item, but he refused saying he didn't trust restaurant staff after the fact. Well, eventually he gave in, i finished my steak, and began to work on my plain British chips. And the waiter gave us a horrendous attitude, making it very apparent that he was going to replace the food but only BC he wanted to keep his job. He asked my darling what he would like instead and talked to him in a demeaning way, as if speaking with a child. My fiance was very polite but stern with the gentleman, and ended up ordering what I had, ribeye medium rare, this time with more side seasonings. The gentleman had asked him if he wanted a side with it, but my fiance was content with just consuming the rest of his awful mashed potatoes. Instead of moving on, the staff member insisted on giving him another side and made things rather difficult and awkward. My fiance decided to just order another mashed potatoes. After around 10-15 minutes, they returned with the food. All the while, during this time they did not offer to refill our water and whilst I used the restroom or toilets, was also atrocious, they had one nearly empty toilet paper roll to share between the three stalls. Anyway, the food comes with the seasoning and rather than medium rare it was medium well, and he gives it another shot. This time it's a lot better, however they still had that god awful instant mashed potatoes. I've already eaten so I'm sitting there observing the shop, it's small, and the wait staff I'd seen had only been three different people. Severely under staffed, and it was quite busy there for 1130 at night. Anyway, heed caution, BC this might be a great place for you, if you like cooking your own food, but for those of us that would prefer to have a competent cook, I'd say skip this place entirely. We left with a rather huge bill for the time we had wasted, along with how awfully bland the food turned out to be. Please take this into consideration and happy eating! read more

The food at this place was great. It's the service that gets 3 stars. We had fuse and chips and the roast chicken and leeks. Both were very good. The problem was our service. I passed this establishment I couple times before deciding to give it a go. Wanted meat to chew on. For a Wednesday night, it was very full, a good sign for a tasty meal, not so for speedy service.., Ended up at the bar, near the service area (not much place else to sit). The beer selection was minimal, only Stella actually on tap and busy bartender. I ordered simply, a filet and sweet potato fries to make a quick meal and to bed.... didn't happen. About an hour later, no meal, low beer and the server noticed. I don't know the issue but the bartender headed for the back, ten minutes later I had my food which was hot and tasty. My husband and I went to Steak & CO a little reluctant since the steaks in MD are so good. We were pleasantly surprised. The presentation is fantastic.
