Walked in for a massage and honestly should've turned around the second I got there. The woman at reception wouldn't even look at my face, acting like she was personally saving the world behind that computer screen. I stood there awkwardly waiting forever, and when she finally acknowledged me it felt less like a spa and more like I was bothering someone at a government office or student affairs desk. I got a full body massage and somehow I ALWAYS make this mistake -- trying random massage places and ending up with the newest, least experienced person they can find. I'm not exaggerating when I say the massage felt like she was just applying lotion to my body. That's it. Like her job was spreading oil around, not actually massaging. On top of that, she barely understood English. I only booked 30 minutes because I went during a break in my day just to relax a little, so I didn't even have time to argue or make a scene. At one point I asked if she could press into my back a bit more or crack it slightly and she literally goes, "I am not sure, let me try." LET ME TRY??? Left there somehow more tense than when I walked in, except now I'd also paid for the privilege. Massage place owners seriously need to get massages from their own employees before hiring them. I have come many times here because it's an average massage but affordable. However, this last time all seemed well till when I left and gave the tip, I gave her 18% and she looked at me in disdain and even asked me to give her 20%, this was definitely not cool. There is nowhere written that 20% is mandatory, plus she scratched me because her nails were not trimmed, and almost moved me many times as if I was a rag doll. I understand tip is a nice to support lower wage workers, but never mandatory, less requested and made the customer feel like shit for not adding 2% more. I'm quite disappointed this time. I made an appointment and when I checked in they acted as if I didn't. I have never been asked to prepay for services, however, this seems to be the norm when checking in. My massage therapist and estetician was a young woman who was rather rude. She didn't seem like she was licensed. I have been to June Massage multiple times. I went the other day for a deep tissue massage. The massage itself is $70.00. I gave a $10.00 tip and they were ungrateful. They were speaking in mandarin and bad mouthing me. I asked them if $10.00 was not enough and they said it should've been a $20.00 tip. It is extremely unprofessional of them to speak badly about their customers. I can understand and speak mandarin and was disappointed to be treated that way. June, here's some tips on how you can make people want to come back. The massages were pretty good, it was hard to communicate with them ( language barrier). They should ask before they pull back the sheet very far .... it felt inappropriate and uncomfortable especially because she was also massaging my butt with her bare hands. I've never had this happen. Also, they need to CLOSE THE DOORS! The workers should not be loud. The point of a massage is to be relaxed. There's no calm music in the rooms. Also makes it less relaxing. If you can make it more professional , quiet, relaxing that would help a lot. read more

I think that they should have clients fill out a sheet detailing what types of pressure they would like and any particular spots to focus on. I received a lack-luster greeting, immediate pay for service, and walked to a massage room that needed more sheets on the table. My foot massage was handled roughly and I have never, in my years of experience receiving a massage, seen poor etiquette such as entering into the room before knocking, grabbing a body part firmly to move it (ex: ankle), or even climbing on top of the massage table (while I was face down) to add more pressure to my back. I felt uncomfortable. To put the icing on the cake, at the end I was told that I needed to "go to the gym." I am an engineer working in High-Tech industry, after many years of high-stress work on computer/keyboard, I developed chronical lower-back pain, neck muscle stiffness and guyon tunnel syndrome. I didn't know much about deep tissue massage until one day my Physical Therapist recommended June's massage. June's massage not only provide professional deep tissue massage but also can focus on a specific area and the staff is very easy to talk to. In my case, after a few weeks of massage my lower back pain is gone. I had an OK massage here today. As we were tipping the masseuse, I saw the receptionist's face. She aggressively guilt-tripped me to give more. She continued passive aggressively saying "If this is what you are comfortable with than it must be OK. But our people here work really hard". I work really hard, too. I think she is trying to help her colleagues without realizing she is hurting them. A tip and the amount of tip is always appreciation of the customer not the business. Just drive down the side of the building and you'll find lots of parking out back. $30 will get you and hour foot massage on a semi-private chair. It is set up to be very serene and relaxing. $50 will get you a private massage for one hour in a room. This is my preference. In fact, if my schedule allowed, I would get a massage every week. I've been here multiple times for foot massages and have been happy with my experience every time. As with all other Chinese reflexology places, please note that this is a no frills type massage compared to your high end Western-style spas - you keep your clothing on, no fluffy robes, no special oils. However, the massages are amazing, especially for the price, and they keep you covered with a clean towel or sheet on top of your clothes. Currently a one hour foot massage costs $40 (add $1 if paying by credit card) and includes about 15 min of upper body work, 30 min of foot massage, and 15 min on your back. My masseuse today was Jason (who did amazing work by the way!) and before we started, he asked what type of pressure I wanted and checked a few times to make sure I was still comfortable with the amount of pressure I was using. TLDR; Tippers: - Most of the people giving you a massage will not speak fluent English so communication is a little meh unless you speak Mandarin Chinese. - Tip isn't forced, but you should tip anyway. - You pay for a massage first (card accepted with a charge of like 40 cents? Or might be tax) and the tip is paid after the massage (card also accepted but cash is preferred). - Stamp card for hour-long full-body massages. I walked in with two other ladies and one of them did not have an appointment and could not wait 15 minutes, so I let her take my spot and I waited 15 minutes. When she took me to my room she did inform me that my massage would be from a male; a lot of low-end places never say this when I forget to ask; I really appreciated the information. She said there were no more female and said I could leave my clothes on if that was better, and it was for me. The only thing was that I was in the room for a little over 5 minutes. No biggie. Initially, he did ask if the pressure was okay and it was fine, but it started hurting more later but it might just be me. The massage itself was the least painful one I've had (from low-end) and I actually feel better after it! This will be my new massage spot; although next time I would try a chair massage. After the massage, you walk back to the counter and your massage person will give you a cup of water and you tip them here. I really wanted to like this place however after my experience yesterday, not so sure. I've been to other massage places but it was my first time here. June the owner was really nice at first, and even got me a cup of water. The massage I got was okay. The things I didn't like was, there are people talking all the time while getting a massage so it's less relaxing and more distracting. Which wasn't the biggest deal. The website also said 90 mins was $85 but then June told me the price is $90 now, so maybe they should update that so it's not misleading. But I thought it was weird that we pay first. And then when I left my tip, you can tell the masseuse is just out there standing around to get their tip, I finally gave her her tip, and she didn't say thank you and looked at me as if I did her really wrong. The receptionist/owner then says "we tip 20% here" First, of all tips mean gratuity and isn't required anywhere ?? and continued to peer pressure me to give more, this is super unprofessional and uncomfortable. I understand they work hard but tips are gratuity, maybe you should start paying your workers more since 20% tip isn't a legal requirement. You get an hour long standard massage that includes the foot, but also the whole body in general. Privacy isn't the best, there are curtained rooms, but there are often like two seats per curtained area. But at this price I guess not too much can be demanded. The massage itself isn't the best massage, as they seem to just go through a routine of actions, and aren't actually trying to target your tightest muscles. If you're looking for that you should probably go to a better place.
