Everything I have tried here has been phenomenal. It's the perfect spot to hit after spending time at the park, or cruising the spring water trail. I usually stop as a breaking point on the weekends and the fruit refreshers (especially guava) remind me of actual guava juice from tropical places. They hit the spot every single time. I sometimes get an extra drink and put it in my water bottle for later. The coffee drinks and soft serve are delicious as well. This was my first time dropping by, so I had to grab a Galaxy drink: the Ube, Matcha, Black sesame with coconut milk as a dairy substitute. They also have oat milk and soy milk. I went with their default settings for this drink because I wanted to experience their vision of this drink, and let me tell you, it is not super sweet! LOVE that! It's the right amount of sweetness to me, but you can always adjust the level of ice and sweetness to your liking. I went with the limited edition BT21 jar (blind box purchase) for $30. I love the jar :) Comes with a cleaner, glass straw, and a nice lid. Their drinks are beautifully presented with clean layers and mix nicely with each flavor complimenting each other. Ugh, YES. We love Junbi and drove out of our way in Portland to have some. Very large space, largest I've seen yet, and I've been to 3 JunbiMatcha locations 2 kiosks to order from which makes it easy and convenient to customize your drinks. You can also order from the cashier if the kiosks are taken. There were games to play and my girls played a couple rounds of Mancala, while we waited for our drinks and while we rested a bit. I always order the guava matcha cold brew and it was good, I only wish there was more guava. D1 ordered the strawberry matcha cold brew. I was surprised to see they had food at this location- soft serve and onigiri. Worth the drive. This place keeps dropping as one of my favorites to one. I will no longer visit. Customer Service mediocre at best. Portion sizes of gone down to 16 ounces from 24 ounces for the Boba and the prices have gone up. At least change the picture of the product if you're going to change the size of it. Poor Customer Service, though the quality of the Matcha itself is excellent. I was charged $10 for a 16 ounce Matcha latte. That's far away the most expensive one I've had in Portland. Stopped by here on a weekend afternoon, cus my gfs been on that pdx matcha crave. The place had steady traffic, but we didn't have to wait long to get our drinks. I'm not the craziest about matcha, but when I want one, I need it strong. I ordered the blended matcha with boba, and I loved it! It was a good balance of strong matcha flavor, but also refreshing. In a time where the color green is the only thing matcha about these other places, this place actually tastes of it. Definitely gonna try out their regular drinks next time there. The shop has a very cute interior design aesthetic, and there's a decent amount of seating. My food was tasty, but I found it a bit overly salty, and the salmon was very mild. I kind of thought at first that they'd given me the wrong food, because I was expecting to see big chunks of salmon, but instead it was very tiny pieces that were almost indiscernible. Despite all that, I enjoyed it. The boba was also very tasty, and I really liked that they used real fruit. I did struggle a little bit with how massive the lychee pieces were though, plus there was a lot of that hard, crunchy inner layer of the lychee fruit that's just kind of gross, but if you don't mind that, you'll probably love it! read more

This spot has great boba. So far I've found the specials to be not as good as the standard drink options which is a bummer. There is a bts collaboration right now which is so cute. Their drinks are flavored with ube and I guess there was a problem with mixing the ube extract that they didn't warn me about before making my drink and then seemingly leaving it out. They were able to make things right after I pointed it out though. Overall I'll be back for a standard drink, and maybe to play one of their board games with my friends. read more

Been here three times now -- first was during their soft opening with an order of the flight of rice balls, yuzu dragonfruit matcha with aloe, and mango matcha with lychee; second time ordered the lychee oolong tea, strawberry matcha fresca, mentaiko rice ball, and salmon rice ball; most recently ordered the taro vanilla earl grey and mentaiko rice ball. If it wasn't obvious, the mentaiko rice ball is a must at every visit if there is a desire for food. The lychee oolong tea is a drink I would get again. The mango matcha and strawberry matcha fresca was underwhelming and I was not a fan of the taro chunks in the taro vanilla earl grey. read more

Once again my pharmacist at CVS decided to treat us again. This time i decided to fully check the website before i placed my order. This place seemed totally legit. The selection of food and drinks was quite extensive and far from the norm. I decided on an Iced vanilla matcha latte...yeah I know, pretty fancy, but all flavors i enjoy so I gave it a shot. After I got my drink I noticed three things. First off it was a large beverage, second the straw wasn't the standard plastic affair. It was thick paper, almost like rolled cardboard. I am along for the ride for the environmentally friendly aspect. Thirdly, and this is only "slightly" negative, but quite messy for my pharmacist, the sealed lid was incredibly hard to puncture. The lid itself was poignant with its "break the glass ceiling" ideals, but actually breaking through was more effort than it should have been. After a few thrusts, decided to grab an exacto knife and create my own incision. My pharmacist wasn't quite so creative. She ended up tipping the cup Over and spilling some of the nectar. She did laugh it off though. Overall the drink was delicious and creamy, the boba's texture was excellent and the level of ice was ideal. Quite a nice pick me up on a Friday. A+ read more

Went 2 times on my trip to Portland! I've been to the one down by UCLA a few times. I tried the spam and egg...also had the cold matcha with boba (less sweet and less ice). In general, it is good, but there are differences in the quality control of this location, like other Junbi locations. The amount of sugar added on the first day was good. The second day tasted a bit off. Spam and egg was ok. Took awhile for food to come out. Should probably have more staff, since each time, it seemed like only one person was working at a time, so food and drinks came out slow. Inside is nice and clean. Street parking only. Overall, great to see Junbi in Portland! Hope they can continue to keep up the quality! Will be back next time I'm in Portland to check them out! read more

I first had the Pasadena-based Junbi when I was in Honolulu, and was surprised to hear that Portland now has two matcha-specific spots: Junbi and Matcha Cafe Maiko. Junbi is the trendier sister, offering an extensive and at times overwhelming and less traditional menu of matcha goods. I mean you got drinks with yuzu, dragonfruit, mango, there's literally something for everyone. My friend and I were looking for something refreshing to quench our thirst on a hot day, and we both were pretty satisfied. Our drinks were both on the sweeter side. I was eyeing the soft serve, but the thirst was real. My friend enjoyed the Tropical Refresher (guava, mango, coconut) and I got the guava matcha latte. I really wanted the boba, but the sweet gal at the register told me they ran out :( Honestly, PLEASE boycott Starbucks and grab yourself a Junbi instead. It's so much tastier and does not support Israeli war crimes. The interior is nice and clean, we saw some families inside. They also have restrooms too. I love that there's some outdoor tables in addition to indoor seating for the dogs. Nice lil option for tea if you're in the area. But personally I'm more of a Matcha Cafe type of gal. read more

Such a cute spot! I've known of Junbi for quite a while now and was excited to finally try it. For my first time I went with a Mango Refresher and also tried the Hibiscus Fruit Tea Refresher and Guava Matcha. All of them were delicious!! My favorite would probably be the Hibiscus one. The refreshers were cold, with such great flavor and perfect amounts of sweetness. You can also adjust sweetness levels which is really convenient. The place itself is clean, cute and a great place to hangout with friends or by yourself! Good amount of indoor seating. Oh- and there's also food options! I LOVE matcha but don't always like how most cafe and boba shops served it with milk. When I heard Junbi did cold brew matcha creations I was so stoked to try it! The menu is extensive, serving teas, coffees, juices, small bites, soft serve and of course, matcha. I settled on the Guava Matcha and also tried a sip of the Tropical Refresher. Both drink drinks were yummy and refreshing. The matcha flavor wasn't too strong and the guava juice really shined through. They have 3 sweetness options: more, less or none. I wish I went with none because the guava juice was sweet enough and didn't need anymore additions. They have chia seed and red bean as add-ons which you don't see often at boba shops. You can also add additional shots of espresso or matcha if you need a stronger caffeine boost. This store had some games if you want to hang out and enjoy your drink here. I was super ecstatic to hear another matcha shop opening in the Portland area and love how different it is from other similar cafes! Inside of the cafe, it's fairly spacious and there is some seating with games to play! But, the tables aren't very big and probably isn't the best for hanging out (better for studying!). To order, there's a kiosk or you can order at the counter. One thing I love about this spot is that they have such a variety of different drinks--both matcha and regular teas alike--and they're all so delicious. I also love how they not only have desserts (soft-serve) but also onigiri. I've tried quite a few different drinks and they're all so high-quality. The toppings are often real fruit (depending on what you get) and the sweetness of the drinks isn't over-the-top. The onigiri is also one of the better/best onigiri I've had from a cafe, so I highly recommend! They come in three flavors and all of them are great. One thing to note about their items is that, the matcha soft-serve doesn't have an intense matcha flavor in comparison to other matcha cafes in the area, but it's still pretty good and I would definitely get again! I believe it was last Thursday where I came in around 11:20ish to use up the points that I earned so I could get $5 discount on my next drink order since they have something where if you buy a certain amount of drinks, you earn points and get awards. I told the white male cashier at least 5 times while I was ordering that I wanted to use the points on my account and also said I have a $5 reward on my phone for the points so I was very clear and I asked him what to do. I showed him the QR card over and over and he said yeah it'll connect your account so I was like okay... and I took his word for it after asking if he was sure multiple times. It charged my card and then I said did it go through? Did the reward apply and he said oh no you can't use that now. I am an avid matcha drinker and I love me a strong, ceremonial grade matcha. I was excited to try this place after my friends recommended it. I came in and the floor was stickyyy :( anyway, the cashier was not very helpful when I asked questions about the drinks as he would just give quick, little-to-no detailed answers. I got a matcha latte and my friend got a Madagascar vanilla taro matcha latte. My drink tastes like Starbucks matcha at best :/ there was so much milk and sweetener, and my drink was pastel green. My friend's drink was also a pale green and was overbearingly sweet, literally tasting like vanilla ice cream and no matcha flavor. This cute new place opened recently and I love it already! When you walk in, you can either order at the front counter with the employees or there are self-service kiosks you can order from. I got my boyfriend and I the Cold Yuzu Dragonfruit Matcha and the Cold Mango Matcha with Milk. The matcha tasted high-quality and we loved the drinks. I love how they use real fruit. My favorite thing however was the onigiri! It is made to order and was delicious. I ordered a onigiri flight which contains 3 onigiri; mentaiko, salmon, and spam & egg. They have the seaweed on the side which is a great idea because that way it doesn't get soggy. This place will now be my go-to for my onigiri cravings! The only thing I would say is if you order a onigiri it might take a while. My second onigiri flight came out 30 minutes later, but then again it was their soft opening and they had about 20 people come in at once so I gave them five stars anyways.
