Ok wow. I love their vibrant drinks so much. It almost feels collectable to be able to try them all. Also their menu is so cute and eye catching with the little colored mugs, yet organized and informative. Whoever designed it did an incredible job. The cafe itself is small with just several tables and gives a very casual vibe. There is free parking is available nearby. Staff is kind and service is quick. Cafe Ume feels like a small hidden gem and would definitely return. No complaints with my visit

    Egg-Cellent Coffee

I've been here multiple times now and consider Ume having one of the best Vietnamese coffees in Portland with my favorite being the egg-cellent. Most recently ventured outside of coffee, tried the taro milk tea and unfortunately do not recommend. Unsure if they use powder but if they do, they did not mix it well enough and my drink was grainy. On top of that, multiple menus said it was $6.25 but I was charged $6.75 (not a big deal so I didn't bring it up to them but something to keep in mind for those that do care). My boyfriend ordered the thai black coffee that had a strong floral taste I was not fond of but he liked. Also at my recent visit, when we were looking at the menu trying to decide on what to order, my boyfriend needed to use the restroom, asked if he needed a code when the worker responded it was for paying customers only. I informed him that I was still looking at the menu trying to decide, which made him hesitate a little before asking me if I was for sure going to order. The owner (I'm assuming) was there, asked what was going on, and seemed to have no problem with my boyfriend using the bathroom. I'm not sure how often people come and use the bathroom without ordering but it was a weird interaction.

Looks full but it was actually empty

Incredibly disappointed. Please read the 1-2 star reviews and why. I wish I would've seen them. This place could be better if the coffee wasn't filled to the brim with ice and suddenly you are trying to figure out what the hell happened to all of your coffee?!? I was not expecting that at all. I don't mind some ice but when I pay $6.75 for a coffee and I barely took 3 sips of and then suddenly it was gone I can't help but feel like this place is a total burn. Maybe others know to order no ice? If I had known I would have asked for it that way but 3 sips is not a lot when half of that was foam. It actually made me sad because I made it a point to come here after seeing photos that looked so yummy and I will most likely never come back here again. I hope people that do want to try this place out see this review and know to order NO ice or your drink will be empty. Both me and my daughter both got drinks, mine was the Thai tea and she had the Matcha and she also only had 3 sips. My money is way too tight to throw away like this. Including photos of how it looked full but the inside was all ice. As a yelper, I should've noticed the other reviews stating they had issues with how much ice was in their drinks and I can kick myself for not seeing the 1-2 star reviews. I seriously question how so many people reviewed them 5 star when so many state the same issue.

Love getting coffee here there's always lots of options and it's consistently good. The shop is really cute and seating available. The staff is often quiet but nice. I will say the prices are a little high for coffee although aligns with most coffee shops.

This is the only cafe in walking distance of the 24 Hour Fitness in Hollywood. Had some time before yoga so I went with the front desk's recommendation for this coffee shop. Its menu has all kinds of pretty & fun sounding concoctions. The employee was friendly and helpful. Still favoring Matcha, I went with the Matcha-mazing Coffee. I'm limiting my caffeine intake these days so it hit hard. Strong and so good! The shop is cute with a couple tables and a high top window bar sporting wooden seats that mold to your booty. A few people came in and ordered the signature caramel popcorn coffee while I sipped mine at a table. Must be good. I'll have to try it another day.

I got the Matcha-mazing coffee & i thought it was soo good! the matcha foam was creamy & the vietnamese coffee part was also good. kind of a hard spot to go to since there's no specific parking for it & the building is connected to 24hr Fitness. buuuut if you park there or at Trader Joe's & walk across the street fast at not a busy time, you should be fine

Update - I provided a review via Square and the business owner immediately responded, so I have adjusted my review because of the customer service but still recommend checking on the ice level. Overall - Great location with a shared parking lot, but spots are limited due to 24 Hour Fitness and other nearby businesses. The Ube Coffee tasted more like chocolate milk than Vietnamese coffee. Location - The entrance is right on Halsey, making it easy to find. However, the parking lot can crowded since it's shared with establishments like 24 Hour Fitness. Drinks - We ordered the Ube Coffee with less ice. However, as we drove off, we noticed that about 75% of the cup was still filled with ice. Normally, I'd assume it was a mistake by the person making the drink by not reading the label, which there wasn't one, but in this case, the cashier who took our order also made it. What was also disappointing is that the drink tasted more like dark chocolate milk than Vietnamese coffee.

I was surprised by my matcha viet coffee. It is the perfect balance of sweet and strong Vietnamese coffee. It is not loaded with the condensed milk taste, but subtle with the matcha flavor.

I've latte. Ask for less ice!!!

They were out of egg today.. so I went with the ube foam latte. It was delicious and I appreciated that he had the coffee prepped knowing he'd get new orders in. Space so clean and welcoming. However, the ice was so extreme and there was very little content in the drink itself. I finished it by the time I got to my car in the parking garage.

Got to try two of there reccomend drinks the last time I visited and I got to say I enjoyed them! I got myself the padan coffee and the ube coffee. I did read some of the others reviews saying they thought the drinks had a lot of ice in them and after finishing my own drinks I could definitely see that. Personally, I love sweet beverages and I loved the flavorings of the drinks, so I could definitely see myself coming back. I will try to have some of their desserts as well next time! The aesthetics of the place is clean looking and the service was relatively quick.

Got my Ube coffee fix at Cafe Ume. Found this place thru Yelp. We ordered Ube Coffee, Cheesestacular Coffee, Oreo Ice blended and Double sour apple ice blended. Service was decent. The young lady helping us didn't look like she wanted to be there. The place is small with very limited seating. I enjoyed and finished my Ube coffee. I wish the didnt put so much ice in my drink but overall craving satisfied.

    Egg Coffee & Ube Coffee
    Mia H.

As one of the few Vietnamese coffee shops in Portland, Cafe Ume offers nice variety of Vietnamese drinks. Known for their coffee, they also have fruity and milk teas to enjoy. The inside of the shop has some seating, but not much. Staff here is kind and service is quick. When I came here, I came to just pick up some coffee for my boyfriend and I. I ordered the egg coffee and the ube coffee. Both drinks were creamy and not too sweet. Although I got the egg coffee for myself, I ended up liking the ube coffee more. The ube coffee here is so fragrant and one of the best I've tried. Highly recommend this Vietnamese coffee shop.

Very small kiosk-like caffeine corner shop. Enthusiasm shines bright from the owner! So friendly & smiley. He took a sincere moment to share about the Vietnamese coffee style. The recent craze of Ube & Pandan flavors are popular. Recently, they hosted a dragon dance to kick off the Lunar New Year. Pretty impressive for a tiny little business! Ample free garage parking next door.
