Kalesa Coffee was great. The baristas were friendly, the indoor and outdoor areas were both good, and I got a delicious drink. I got an iced matcha latte with a shot of vanilla since they do not sweeten their matcha drinks and got some ube whip on top. The matcha was high quality and I loved the addition of the ube. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit here and will add this shop to my rotation.
Kalesa Coffee is a Filipino-owned coffee shop and a gem in the PDX area. There is street parking directly in front of the shop. Inside, they have a cozy setup with a couple tables for seating. For their menu, they have a solid selection of drinks to choose from. Wifey and I opted to try the Coconut Cold Brew with Ube Whip and it was on point. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. If you are a coffee lover or just looking to get your caffeine fix with some unique drinks, this spot should definitely be on your list!
My husband and I found a hidden gem on our last day in Portland. Kalesa is a Filipino-owned coffee shop in the area. We were on the hunt for another spot that offered Ube lattes. This place ended up being Ube paradise! The coffee shop is cozy and quaint, and the staff was friendly and personable. We ordered two Ube lattes with oat milk, topped with Ube whip cream. We also ordered the Ube banana bread. Both lattes and the banana bread were delicious. I personally am not a fan of banana-forward recipes; however, the banana bread mixed with Ube was a well-balanced treat! I ended up really enjoying it. I am so glad we found this coffee shop. Our only regret was not finding it sooner! There are a few tables on the inside and street parking available right in front of the building. Be sure to check them out, if you're visiting or live in the area!
I think I may have found my FAVORITE coffee shop & Coffee in my entire life. I took a trip to Portland for MLK weekend with my brother and our best friend wanted to show us Kalesa Coffee and it did not disappoint at all! Their menu is very simple as they also have a couple pastries/baked goods. I was unsure what to get so I told my friend to order for me. I ended up receiving Kalesa Coffee's Coconut Cold Brew with Ube Whip and it was fantastic. I have never had this good of coffee in my life. For me, nothing needed to be adjusted and it was more than perfect the way it was served to me. My friend also mentioned how the owners of this coffee shop are Filipino and were from the Bay Area, in California which made me appreciate the coffee even more being from the Bay Area as well (Their wifi password made me crack up). I'm sad that the only time I can ever get this coffee is when I visit my best friend who lives in Portland. But that's just another reason for me to come back, which I cannot wait for.

It kept me warm and satiated. I also tried the hot Ube Latte and it was delicious! Such a warm spot for a cold autumn day. We tried their pandesal but it was a little dry, it would maybe be better to go when they're fresh(?) but otherwise a nice little snack alongside our drinks.
Kalesa Coffee is a small coffee shop nestled in Portland that is serving some of the best coffee in the state of Oregon! Hearing about this shop from social media, my girlfriend and I dropped by to try their famous Ube Foam Cold Brew and also opted to try their Turon Latte, a seasonal drink on their menu. Service was very kind and they partner with small popups in the area as well, with the day we went having some candles being sold down the hall! The Turon Latte was the star of the show, having some of the best banana flavor I've ever had in a banana-inspired latte. Some places typically have the taste be too artificial, but they nailed it with the Turon, tasting as if I'm taking a bite out of a freshly fried turon. The Ube Foam Cold Brew fell below a bit under expectations, nonetheless, still delicious! The Ube Foam looked a bit light in color and didn't taste too much like Ube. If they upped the flavor of the ube a bit, I believe it could be the star that social media puts it out to be! Overall, Kalesa Coffee is most definitely a coffee shop that should be on people's radar so don't miss out!
This spot is tucked away with a good amount of parking surrounding it, loved having this option. The space itself is quite small so I was feeling like I was in everyone's way, I do see this as a good grab and go coffee spot. But if you do want to bring a laptop and have a spot to yourself, this is an option as they do have wifi! The staff were very sweet and welcoming as we mentioned it was our first time coming in, she had great recommendations. What I also appreciate is that they do not have an up charge for milk alternatives. It's FREE! My drink was delicious and I was very happy by the end of it all. Definitely a great spot.

I'm all for supporting Filipino businesses :) Apart from a beautiful aesthetic with lots of light coming in, I love their menu. It's simple but packed with heavy hitter special drinks and treats! If you love matcha, come here. If you love ube, come here. My husband got the Turon latte (yum!) and I got a matcha latte. For the matcha latte, I went with coconut milk, ube vegan foam, and didn't do any syrup. My drink was bitter, not sweet, which was totally fine because I was able to taste the quality of their matcha, and it was really good. That ube foam was a perfect topping too! Next time, I'll add a coconut syrup. The Turon latte is perfection. We observed that a favorite with customers is the ube latte that day. We are hooked and plan to try the other drinks next time. My daughter enjoyed their strawberry concha. The server was friendly and told us the crinkle cookies (ube and pandan) and banana bread were vegan! I still had to pass on those delicious treats because I needed them to be gluten free. Cheers to Kalesa coffee! Love this spot. Kalesa - Portland, OR Kalesa was such a sweet highlight of our trip. A sweet little hidden gem inside the "Gotham building" tiny, quaint set in the lobby. Such a vibe. My wife and I tried the Ube Latte and the Turon Latte -- both were flavorful, but the Turon stood out. It's unique, smoky, caramel-y, and captures the true essence of a Filipino turon. It had that perfect balance, even for people who don't usually like banana flavors. I also stopped by their friends' spot, Balong, & they had their (kalesa) drip coffee brewing -- fantastic. A smooth balance between bold and medium tones. Their pastries come from a third party (didn't catch the name), but we tried the crinkles -- ube and calamansi -- and both were great. The pan de sal was soft and fluffy; not exactly traditional, but still really good. The blueberry muffin was bomb -- just the right ratio of berries and a nice sugared crust. We also tried the guava "empanada," though it leaned more toward a sugar-cookie texture than an empanada -- still tasty, just not what I expected. Service was friendly, quick, and genuine. We met one of the owners, Keanu, who had great energy and gave us some awesome Portland recommendations. We'll definitely be back before heading home to Cali -- and every time we're back in town. The latte itself was very yummy, and the whip was a beautiful addition, but it seemed to lack a bit of flavor, maybe not sweet enough? But still, a great latte nonetheless. The barista-- I didn't catch his name, was super kind and a great conversationalist which is always a plus. There is very limited seating, but I was able to snag the little makeshift table around the corner out in the hallway. A very chill spot that I'll definitely be back to visit the next time I'm in Portland!
Such a cute place and inviting space despite being in an office building. The turon latte was interesting and I appreciate them trying to make it into a drink. The cold brew was so good, easily a favorite and a go to when we go back. The barista, Keanu, was super welcoming and friendly. Overall, great first experience and we will be coming back to try more drinks.
The barista was very nice and provided lots of information on the ingredients especially if you have a dietary restriction! The coconut cold brew with ube whip could be made vegan. I can't wait to try more flavors in the future. It's a bit of a smaller space but it's super cozy.

My last stop in Portland before heading back north was to Kalesa Coffee (7/10/26). I was able to find street parking along N Page St after turning right from N Albina Ave. Follow the signage to the Gotham Building and you'll find this pocket cafe tucked away from the courtyard. Inside there's three two tops, a smaller two top, and a bench. There's merch to the left, then greeted with a pastry case with tempting baked items, and a straightforward beverage menu. The interaction from both owners with regulars and other customers, I felt a strong community vibe. I decided to sip a 12oz iced mocha while onsite - great way to start my morning! I also took on the road was one of the signature beverages, an iced Calamansi Espresso Tonic. Phenomenal flavors that melded well together. Highly recommended! read more
Saw this spot on Instagram and had to check it out, Kalesa Coffee did not disappoint. Tucked away near Moda off N Page in the Gotham building, it's the kind of quaint place you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there. Small but cozy, with some seating and a super chill vibe. It was my first time, and as someone who's a sucker for anything ube, I had to try their signature ube latte, honestly, a morning blessing. Friendly staff, a solid playlist playing in the background, and overall just a really relaxed atmosphere. Street parking available, which is always a plus. Definitely coming back. Enjoy read more

Visited Kalesa Coffee for the first time and it was a great experience! Street parking is available, be sure to read the signs. The space is cozy, the staff is so friendly and the drinks are good. My husband ordered a Coconut Cold Brew with Ube Whip and I ordered the Mango Matcha. The coconut and ube flavors were good together, the whip added a nice creaminess to the cold brew. The Mango Matcha was refreshing and exactly what I needed it for an afternoon pick me up. If you have time, definitely check this place out. Love to see Filipino owned businesses out here! read more

First time trying this place, Filipino owned cafe, it is small but they do have a few seats. Came across this place while at the bagel shop a block down the road. Drinks are cute, I am surprised the matcha latte with pandan syrup & ube whip blended well together, especially with each flavors having a distinct taste, it was good. The coconut cold brew with ube whip was also good, but I'm not a fan of coconut and the coconut flavor was coming through a little bit strong. We also ordered an ube latte, and that was a bit bland, it needed a bit more ube flavor to balance out the coffee flavor & we also got a matcha latte with vanilla, matcha was also bland, even though we added vanilla to it, it did not taste like it had vanilla in it. Service was wonderful, they were very friendly, and we didn't have to wait more than 5 mins for our drinks! read more

This is such a unique Filipino coffee place and definitely a hidden gem! The baristas are super friendly, and the drinks are really creative. I got a calamansi tonic, and it was amazing. Tonics are usually hit or miss for me, but this one was definitely a hit! Great coffee, cool vibe, and an all-around awesome spot. Highly recommend! read more

Cold brew with ube foam is the clear winner here! I got the ube latte, which was good (not too sweet!), and it was good, just that the cold brew was better. The cafe is in a weird little corner, so not a ton of seating, but still has a homey cozy feel. read more

The coolest little coffee shop. Well designed branding, amazing coffee, and frequent food pop ups! They are super friendly, which is the perfect way to start the day. I got an Ube whipped cream cold brew and it was soo good. Hint of coconut, whipped cream wasn't sweet just pure Ube flavor with delicious cold brew. I was lucky enough to go to Laminate pastry's last pop up. I got two of everything and it was all so incredible. Bacon cheese pretzel, guava pastry, kougin amoun, and little cumin shortbread with milk chocolate filling. read more

Oh my god?? I loved the flavors this café offers are so unique! As a filipina I feel like they hit the mark with how their syrups tasted! The lattes were truly well done.My sister and I both really enjoyed our lattes. That said, I was a little disappointed by the ube whipped cream. It didn't taste like ube at all just purple whipped cream. Not terrible, just not ube. Overall, I'd definitely come back! My husband found out about this place from a friend at Magna Kubo and he happens to work nearby the location so he was able to get drinks on a solo trip and he insisted that I give it a try. So we visited together on a Saturday afternoon. When we walked in the vibe was lively. It's a small place but every seat was taken which I took as a good sign, friends talking, laughing and enjoying coffee together. We reviewed the menu and ordered 3 drinks (see photos), one hot, two iced and each was both delicious and beautiful. Service was outstanding, super personable and friendly. Highly recommended! They also have rotating pastries which I'm looking forward to trying on my next visit. read more

My new favorite coffee shop. Plenty of street parking. Inside office building on the bottom floor. Shop on the smaller side with just a few seats inside. There's an area outside that you can congregate, too. But it's all about that Coconut Cold Brew with Ube Whip. I am not usually a cold brew drinker, but this is so good that I am fully onboard with cold brew. Delicious. I'm also a fan of the Pandan Mamon. Spongy, light and not too sweet. Perfect snack along with your cold brew. Staff has been super friendly and I'm glad to see that there's always people here trying it out. Every time I have an out of town guest, I stop in here. read more

Filipino-owned coffee shop?! SAY LESS. As a fellow Filipina who is relatively new to Portland, I'm always on the hunt for anything and everything PHILIPPINES. TBH, it's just another way of me trying to fill an empty void since I'm a longgg way from home. I learned about Kalesa Coffee from following Magna Kusina on Instagram. My husband and I work remote, so we took our work to Kalesa Coffee for a day. It's a cozy little spot tucked in the corner of the GOTHAM BUILDING. Lots of STREET PARKING available. Fortunately, we got there early enough to snag a few seats (there are 3 small tables with 2 seats each). There are some outdoor seating as well, but we needed plugs for our laptops, so we had to stay inside. I ordered the MANGO MATCHA and my husband ordered the COCONUT COLD BREW with UBE WHIP. The iced mango matcha was a familiar taste, but a unique one. I can't seem to pinpoint exactly what was in the mango matcha, but it sure brought me back home to the islands. I had a sip of my husband's coconut cold brew with ube whip. I especially loved the ube whip - wish I had more of that! I am curious to try the rest of the drinks on the menu and to also try one of the baked goods. Next time, for sure! Since we got there early, we had the entire place to ourselves. But just a few minutes later, more and more people started coming in! If you have a bunch of meetings for work, I wouldn't advise working out of here as the noise does echo within the building and it gets a bit loud. Support local businesses!!! If ever you're in Portland, checking out, let's say Cathedral Park for a nice stroll and pretty photos, I 100% recommend you get your coffee fix here at Kalesa Coffee! Simple yet exactly what you need to fuel you up for the day! Their location is within the industrial area of Portland but it's not too hard to find; just a few turns here and there and you'll find their white door with their logo on it. I walked in, and immediately noticed the big open space! The cash register is to your right and you'll be greeted by the owner(s) (who btw are from the Bay Area!!). I ordered the coconut cold brew with Ube foam for myself, mango Calamansi for my fiancé and the pandan and coffee mamon. Yes, this is a Filipinx-American coffee biz. I am in love with the ube foam! The right amount of Ube flavor! The coconut cold brew was fresh and much needed. The mango Calamansi was sweet yet tangy. The mamon, omg, who would have thought Coffee and pandan in mamon form would be so goood?!? S/o to the local baker! Really dope new coffee shop alert! It's a hidden gem in Portland (literally) so you may miss it at first but look out for their sign outside to make sure you don't pass it up. It's a little unsuspecting when you see the outside but when you walk inside it's super sleek & clean space. I'm all for supporting local businesses and even better when they're filipino and mixing flavors I grew up tasting. Simple menu but you have to try the coconut cold brew with ube whip! The whip alone makes me want to come back but the other option of the sweet corn shakerato. I've never heard of that drink before but when the owners were explaining it I was sold for the next time I come visit. They also have some pastries on the side if you want to sit down and enjoy your drink. We tried the pandan mamon which is not your average pastry so worth a try! The owners are really friendly and can't wait to chat them up more on my next visit. Feel free to sit or take your order to go but be sure to explore the back of the space for some items to go! read more
Mm I have mixed feelings because I really wanted to like this place but I don't think it met my expectations ): I was intrigued by their pandan whip, which is why we made our way here but unfortunately, I don't think it was worth it. I ordered a latte with pandan syrup + pandan whip on top. The coffee taste light and sour so the overall drink was not very pleasant. The pandan whip had a very faint pandan flavor, which wasn't bad but it wasn't special. That being said I probably wouldn't visit again but glad I tried it!
