Hidden gem of a coffee shop! Tucked next to Screen Door on E Burnside, the front of this store is tiny and easy to miss. Head inside and you'll find incredibly creative drinks and a surprisingly large underground seating area that is retro-style and like a windowless casino where time ceases to pass (or flies by). Staff is super friendly while also taking their coffee seriously. This will definitely be a spot added to my cafe rotation as I'm excited to see the seasonal specials they come up with!

No preference was the perfect blend of upscale flavors and down-to-earth atmosphere. Everything is crafted to perfection, and the service was freindly!

The drink I ordered wasn't my favorite, but the customer service was great. No Preference is a really neat coffee shop with TONS of seating. At first the place looks really small, but near the counter was a small set of steps which led to a really big area with tables and chairs. No Preference is a really cool spot to sip a coffee and just hang out!

Okay, No Preference might just be my new favorite coffee shop--and no, that's not a contradiction. Walked in this afternoon expecting a tiny little grab-and-go spot, and boom--there's a whole cozy basement hideaway downstairs that feels like a secret clubhouse for chill vibes and great tunes. Super welcoming, relaxed, and somehow both stylish and unpretentious. The staff? Absolutely amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, and actually took the time to get to know me and help me pick drinks I'd love. (Spoiler: they nailed it.) I tried the Pineapple Orange Guava Matcha--subtle and refreshing like a tropical vacation in a cup. But the Banana Miso Latte? That one stole my heart. It's weird. It's wonderful. I want another already. Also had a sandwich with chorizo sausage and mango habanero hot sauce that hit the spot. Pro tip: get the hot sauce. Trust me. You'll thank me later. Prices were totally fair, especially for the quality and service. This place is a vibe, a flavor adventure, and a comfort zone all in one. I'll definitely be back--and next time, I'm bringing friends.

A welcoming coffee shop with a great atmosphere. Previously called Kopi coffee, but it seems the place has a new owner. I was a bit confused to locate this place as the map on my iPhone still shows both Kopi and No Preference at the same location. A decent price, no extra charge for alternative milk, and various coffee/tea options. I also saw some pastries in the window. My oat milk latte was creamy, balanced, and tasty for sure. Once I entered, l also noticed more seats and tables in the back.

First time here and absolutely love it. The coffee was amazing and super tasty! Perfect temperature as well and creamy. The service was great! The ambiance was nice and cozy, especially during the rainy season. Will definitely be back to try other lattes.

New owner and name "No Preference" coffee shop. Great coffee and service. Make their own syrups not so sweet. Cozy, nice music and some art.

Great service from friendly barista. I ordered the Chocolate Jesus and my kid had the Arabic People's Latte. Both drinks were unique and superbly delicious with cardamom accents. I would have ordered another round but I didn't want to be a jittery maniac for the rest of the day. I'm not a Portland resident, but I do live in the PNW. Tōv will always be my first stop when passing through the Rose City.

I've been here quite a few times and have really enjoyed the Aribic People's latte with its strong cardamon overtones, the Chocolate Jesus and today, the Mucho Calliente, which promises a chili infusion, and cinnamon infused espresso with dark chocolate! But wait..., oh no, I forgot to ask for oat... this is probably (certainly) dairy. Argh! Sorry, I have no Viking blood and can not digest cow milk. I would rather battle the aforementioned Viking before I'd endure the results of ... dairy! So, I brought my drink up fully prepared to pay for another and everyone there, EVERYONE, in almost unison, refused to take my payment. They kindly and quickly made another and... oh... spicy indeed, but chocolatey and balanced! One of the best spicy mochas I've had anywhere ... and I am an absolute Spella snob and proud of it! Inside secret: Don't miss out on the great selection of truly authentic Egyptian foods and pastries, as well as some really nice necklaces and earrings. If you need that piece to pull your whole Nefertiti look together before going out for a Saturday of dancing and fun... this is your hidden gem!

The Experience: I visited Golden Hour with a friend after taking a break from thrifting clothes around the Hawthorne neighborhood. What stood out: Food: I ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk. The presentation was gorgeous with layers of colors and textures. The drink was a bit sweeter than my usual taste but tasted high quality and refreshing. The crunchy strawberries on top were a yummy surprise. Ambiance: Golden Hour is quite small and sound carries. The workers talking to eachother were fairly loud. If I am in the area in the future, Golden Hour will be on my list to stop at!

I placed my order and the barista let me know about a vegan cold foam alternative. The drink was great and the matcha paired nicely with everything in the drink including pandan, coconut flakes, and vanilla. The interior was clean and there were plenty of places to sit. Lots of people hanging out in the shop, some working, some talking, but it seemed like a good spot to get some stuff done. There was music playing that set a welcoming mood. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy flavored lattes.

For the purposes of this review, please note my rating 3.5 stars…read more The space is cozy and inviting with decent number of seats. The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood.
