    Spanish latte was delicious!
    Shawna G.

While visiting Portland, I wanted to try as many coffee shops as I could in Portland. This one was close to our Sunday morning activities so I decided to check it out! I ordered the Spanish latte and it was delicious! After trying over 15 coffee shops in Portland, La Lucha's Spanish latte was my second favorite coffee shop and drink that I had during my time there. I spoke with Braulio who was making the drinks and gave me some menu recommendations. I learned that he had formerly owned a coffee shop in CA and gave that up when he moved to Oregon. I think with it being a cart, it looks like you might be getting a beginners cafe, but don't be fooled, Braulio knows what he's doing with coffee and the drinks he serves! My friend that is a local to Portland also loved her cappuccino from La Lucha and we definitely told our friends about this place! Make this spot your next coffee to try out in the area!

Great vibe! Small place, and a little bit on the cold side indoors (might consider lowering the big garage door in mid December). But the cortado I had was great, and the music selection was unique and fun.

How delightful... coffee pop up inside enso wine bar on Stark. Super friendly barista slinging fire Mexican mochas with a little ancho chile heat and lovely orange oil finish. Yum!

I was visiting Portland and wanted coffee. I randomly saw this place nearby on Google maps and gave it a try. The place is a cute pop up located in a bar. I tried the Spanish latte and my boyfriend tried the iced Spanish latte. It was really good and probably the best coffee of the trip so far. It was sweet and cinnamony but not overwhelmingly so. Even my boyfriend who doesn't like coffee that much enjoyed it. I would go back if I return to Portland.

Two lovely Mexican Mochas for the road.

A wonderful Portland experience. I am hooked on the Mexican Mocha, however the Spanish Latte was also delicious. The service is welcoming and warm. I definitely recommend this nice treat. The drinks feel like a warm hug.

    Nacho Libre stickers

I can't stop ordering the Mexican Mocha. It's not too sweet and has an orange essence that literally makes the drink from a 9 to an 11/10. I was happy to see that oat milk is the default "dairy" used so there's no extra charge for the dairy intolerant/sensitive girlies. The spot has great coworking vibes too! Chill space with big tables to spread out at. I bring my travel monitor so I can post up for a couple hours. The owner of La Lucha really loves the movie Nacho Libre and has put the hilarious stickers on the cups. Such a unique and fun touch!

The caramel taste homemade and while it may not be for everyone it was a bit over cooked giving the otherwise very sweet drink a touch of bitter bite at the end. While I didn't stay, the shop was lovely and unique with its tables and floor seating. If in the neighborhood, this is a great spot to pause for a bit between the many shops around. This is nothing on the shop, but I always warn when places are in those older parts of town, ie no parking lot and very small congested side streets around. Be care and slow finding parking as it can be a challenge. For me, this shop is worth it.

Great service from friendly barista. I ordered the Chocolate Jesus and my kid had the Arabic People's Latte. Both drinks were unique and superbly delicious with cardamom accents. I would have ordered another round but I didn't want to be a jittery maniac for the rest of the day. I'm not a Portland resident, but I do live in the PNW. Tōv will always be my first stop when passing through the Rose City.

The Experience: I visited Golden Hour with a friend after taking a break from thrifting clothes around the Hawthorne neighborhood. What stood out: Food: I ordered the strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk. The presentation was gorgeous with layers of colors and textures. The drink was a bit sweeter than my usual taste but tasted high quality and refreshing. The crunchy strawberries on top were a yummy surprise. Ambiance: Golden Hour is quite small and sound carries. The workers talking to eachother were fairly loud. If I am in the area in the future, Golden Hour will be on my list to stop at!

I placed my order and the barista let me know about a vegan cold foam alternative. The drink was great and the matcha paired nicely with everything in the drink including pandan, coconut flakes, and vanilla. The interior was clean and there were plenty of places to sit. Lots of people hanging out in the shop, some working, some talking, but it seemed like a good spot to get some stuff done. There was music playing that set a welcoming mood. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy flavored lattes.

Maaaaaaybe my new favorite coffee shop!…read more I had been to their other location but for some sad reason never made it here. Located on Hawthorne just past the curve at 50th, they've got plenty of free street parking in the nearby blocks. They don't have much external signage but they do have a lot of outdoor streetside seating, so it makes you wonder what everyone else knows. Inside, they've got Coava coffee, efficient staff, and an old-school cafe vibe. With multiple couches (one of my main criteria for a coffee shop) and free wifi, this is a place to work, meet people, and slow down. Great long hours - they're open 6am-6pm.

The intentions were genuine and things have progressed in a way where Albina Press is one of the most recognized coffee brands in the city. It's not too dissimilar from its OG sister location in North Portland (#3), where they still brew high quality caffeinated drinks with the vibes of a homey communal space with chairs, couches, and individual tables for a proper coffee date, WFH worthy WiFi, and plenty of anti-war propaganda in the self-serve water area in the back. The latte art was on point, the cold brew was most definitely strong, cafe au lait was milky and foamy in the best way, and the americano drinks were fabulous. While their hours (#4) aren't particularly suited for after-work hours, they do an excellent job of keeping their space clean and the vibes low key throughout the morning and afternoon. Prices are good for Portland standards. Most drinks are $5 and under, even for the largest sizes. The limited but high quality pastry selection is also appreciated. The service was good overall, just be certain with the order and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. Lines can happen, albeit rarely, and I would encourage most folks to drink the coffee on the spot. The space is part of the experience (be weary of the restrooms tho), so enjoy the low key ambiance with a drinkable jumpstart to the day. Maximize the time by starting early and be aware that street parking is the only way. __________ (#1) If you understand this, then you're either a serious coffee enthusiast or a massive food nerd. Their shop is very curated and is definitely has a "recently here because of gentrification vibe." However, I know it's been in Portland for a while and locals swear by it. With shops like these I find it easy to focus and work. The minimalist and industrial decor is a great place for adhd brains like mine. I was warmly greeted by someone at the register. I was interested in so many choices on their matcha. Horchata iced coffe, orange latte, strawberry Ube matcha. I asked the barista if they do exchanges or remakes for drink if the customer dislikes what they ordered. She mentioned they have a NO REMAKES policy. I knew it was time to lock in instead of trying something Willynilly. She was super patient with me as I wondered what to get and discussed my hesitations. She let me sample a tiny amount of the strawberry uber syrup and lavender to make my decision and it helped. I ended up getting and iced lavender matcha and didn't regret it at all. It's been hard for me to find good matcha in Portland and they didn't disappoint. The syrup was blended in well. The flavor of the matcha wasn't too grassy, bitter or powdery. I'm sad it's a seasonal drink because I'll Miss it. I also got an almond croissant, which was good but not mind blowing. I think I'll try the banana bread next time. They have a bathroom, 1 booth, bench seating and wall seating. It would be a bit of a challenge to bring a group larger than 3 here as they're small and busy. Maybe if you sat outside. Glad I gave this place a chance :)
