Jumpin' Java has been serving up breakfast & lunch on their little stretch of Ventura Blvd. for about 35 years, and you don't stay open that long in this town if you aren't doing a whole lotta things right. The cozy cafe about a block East of Laurel Canyon features more tables outside than in, and that's perfect for people-watching and lively conversation with friends while the Spring breeze keeps you cool. Our server paid very close attention to us, making sure coffees and soft drinks were refreshed as many times as necessary, and making good suggestions to folks navigating the eclectic menu for the first time. I chose Grits & Links: creamy, cheesy grits studded with nickel-sized circles of Louisiana sausage that packed just a touch of heat but plenty of Cajun flavor. While the grits could have used a bit more salt, the dish was hearty and quite generous, and I found it very satisfying. One friend ordered up the Apple Pancake, a single, 12-inch disc built from artisan batter and fresh-sliced, caramelized apples. I didn't taste, but the aroma of Fall ingredients made me want to steal my neighbor's food. Another opted for the Breakfast Lavash, a cross between a burrito and a panini, sporting Scrambled eggs, tomato, green onions, mushrooms and Feta cheese, wrapped in lavash bread and pressed till crisp; his wife ordered an impressively crisp waffle topped with assorted fresh berries so colorful I considered offering a cup of grits in exchange. All of the food was plated beautifully, served swiftly, and gave everyone the perfect start to their day. We even had a visit from the owner to make sure everything was to our liking. Well, yes; yes, it was. And if you haven't yet made it to Jumpin' Java, or haven't in a while, you should go see what a jump start they can give you.
I have been to Jumpin Java several years ago. It was time to return. Yesterday,my friend and I went to this cute, quaint restaurant for late breakfast, early lunch. We were both very hungry and couldn't wait to taste couple of their dishes. The owner Sona, invited us in and Mike came to take our order. He was very nice, personable, helpful, and knew his job pretty well. Told us few of their menu options, and the ball was in our court. It was easy to place our order, and the food came out nice and HOT. Didn't take too long. We shared 2 entrees. Got their Mediteranian Omelette, which came with: marinated sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, Kalamata olives, garlic, & grilled eggplant accompanied with a side of fruit. They didn't charge for the fruit. Also, got Artichoke Chicken Press sandwich: Fresh grilled chicken breast, artichoke & tomato spread, arugula, Provolone cheese, pressed on Ciabatta bread with French Fries. I also ordered (2) English Muffins. Food was out of this world! Hands down delicious, fresh and hot. I also got Pumpkin Spice decaf latte. Restaurant was nicely themed, & decorated for the Holidays. Genre of music was Christmas music, & some fine Jazz/blues. I know, an awkward combo, but they knew what they were doing. Place was clean, with a nice, standard size patio, parking was in the back, and the restroom was also very clean, with cute decors everywhere and a small window in the restroom. They close at 4pm. Honestly I have came to eat at this restaurant multiple times a week because they have so many options to choose from and the quality of the food is actually good. They been open for 30+ years and I love trying new menu items. I love that they have poached eggs as an option for egg style and I think its unique that they use French bread for the French toast -- the fruit is always really fresh and the service is always 5 stars. Everyone on their staff is very kind and helpful and they all work efficiently as a team. The restaurant itself has both outside and inside seating and it's a big establishment but there is enough space between tables etc. I would recommend this place for a late breakfast or even a nice lunch.
Here's the full rewrite with no dash at all: Jumpin' Java is hands down one of my family's go-to spots. My favorite dish, the Cinnamon Kiss, never disappoints. Same recipe for years and the chef always nails it. Every visit feels like family with warm, attentive service. The outside seating ambiance makes you feel like you're truly in California, soaking in that laid-back vibe. My staple order is the breakfast combo: egg whites, chicken apple sausage, turkey bacon extra crispy always on point. My daughter tried the capers with chicken. She found the chicken breast a bit dry, but the Cinnamon Kiss made up for it. After all these years, still a solid nine out of ten. Highly recommend!

Found this place on yelp to grab breakfast before heading back to Vegas. Service was good, our server Mike was very attentive. Food tasted fresh and came out hot. It was $70 for two people for breakfast which I think was a little steep but not abnormal for the area. Overall a good place to check out.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. The atmosphere was warm, clean, and comfortable. What truly makes this place special is the dedication of the owners. Even after 31 years, they still come in every day and work alongside their team. That level of passion and commitment really shows in the quality of the food and service.
I loved this brunch spot. I was visiting family and found this place on yelp yo have brunch off the 101. We sat outside on the patio as it was a perfect day. There was a well behaved fur baby there too which I appreciate. The food was great and the staff was so nice. The staff was attentive and made sure we were happy without food. There was only street parking from my view as I am not familiar with the area. Food was tasty. I'd recommend coming back here! They also had fresh squeezed OJ!
First time back here in almost 10 years! I stopped by with my friend for brunch after hiking at Fryman. Parking on a Sunday is almost impossible to find, but thankfully they had a few spots available at the lot in the back. We were seated right away. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict with potatoes and I had the Mediterranean omelette with a side of fruit (which they don't charge extra for!!!) My omelette was perfect and the fruit was fresh. My friend also enjoyed her meal and I tried some of her potatoes which were BOMB! Breakfast potatoes are usually a hit or miss for me, but these were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My only complaint from the meal was the service. Once we were seated, it took a while for someone to come by and take our orders, we were not checked on during the meal, and I had asked to add sausage to my omelette but I guess they forgot. Anyways, maybe it was an off day. The food was amazing so I would definitely give them another chance.
This place is owner onsite and has been in the valley for 30 years. Service is five star and portions are generous. The menu has salads wraps main dishes and drinks. Food is not prepared in advance so quality food will take time. Some parking in back and on street you may eat inside or on patio
Definitely won't be back here any time soon. We were walking by and thought this place was cute so we came back and we got a table. After we were seated it took the longest time for anyone to even come over to our table. We never got water or even silverware. When the waitress finally came over we ordered our food and drinks. The drinks came out pretty quickly but they got our coffee order wrong so that had to go remade. Then after another long period of time our food came out. My boyfriend said his food was ok but I did not like mine at all. The waffle was extremely soggy and the apples had no taste even though it was meant to be like an "apple pie" style. As we were eating not came to check on our table and my boyfriend had to go up to another waitress at the register and ask for our check. I also looked around to other tables and their food took long as well. But some servers were more attentive than others.
A bit pricey but a really cute patio and a long history. Solid food: panini had a perfectly grilled chicken breast and crusty bread. The breakfast lavash wasn't as good, possibly better without adding sausage. Overall, a good place to catch brunch in Studio City.
This place is a neighborhood GEM. The food is always delicious, and tastes like homemade with love. All the pancakes, omelettes, and the French toast options are to die for. The place is a best kept secret, with some indoor and outdoor seating. They also have take-out options. All of the staff are friendly and available to help (even when they are short on hands). You can tell that this place is family-run. My one complaint is the coffee - I think they started using a different bean/roast than prior. Quality of the coffee is low, and tastes stale/flavorless/watered down. All the espresso drinks were made incorrectly and the brewed coffee was a miss. Otherwise, this is a family favorite and my favorite spot for breakfast in Studio City! Highly recommend :)

I do not understand the high reviews of this place at all. I've tried to give this place multiple chances and every time their food was flavorless, overcooked, and gross. Omelettes gross, flavorless, alwaysssss overcooked. Their works burger disgusting. No flavor borderline burnt. This spot is for old people that have lost their taste buds. Actually I take that back, this place is for dogs. The only reason this place is still in business is because they have outdoor seating on Ventura. I'd rather go to dennys. The best and worst part of going to Jumpin Java is the endless long menu. I just can't make up my mind what to eat that day. It's great when a waiter tells me the special of the day. I tried the recommended salmon wrap. It was delicious. Never had disappointed on their food. read more
Parking was swift and easy. Parked in the back with no problem. We were able to call and write our names down 10 minutes before arrival. We sat down immediately. The hostess was sweet! Offered us a table wherever we were most comfortable. We ordered our food and got it within 15 minutes. It was around noon but we still had breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict and had the hazelnut (nutella) strawberry crepe to share. The eggs Benedict was ridiculously good. Had a hint of lemon and I had salad on the side which came with a sort of Italian dressing. Needless to say, both were delicious. The menu was full of different types of breakfast so if you love a ton of choices, this is your place! The waiters were very attentive. They came around often to make sure we were okay. If you go here, do NOT order the breakfast burrito. Absolutely disgusting. It's falsely advertised as a burrito, but they use a middle eastern style wrap instead of a tortilla. The difference, the wrap is much, much drier than a tortilla. To further accent the dryness of the wrap, they fill it with way too many potatoes. The Middle East spices are not bad, but you really need hummus or a yogurt based sauce to complement it. Here we have some weird tasting, overly dry, carb wrap, with surprisingly very little eggs and almost no avocado. I tried dipping the burrito into the salsa, but that just gave me a soggy wrap. They have a huge menu and some of the other dishes sound good. I'll certainly give then another try, just not anytime soon. read more

It's Christmas day and my partner and I drove all up and down Ventura looking for a lunch spot open. Not only did we find a place open, after an hour of driving but this place is amazing... I am definitely going to start to start coming here regularly. The manager greeted us with the table right away and the eggs are done perfectly, the hashbrowns crispy just the way I love them and I don't know what else to say but this is a five out of five. My favorite place to either grab a coffee or breakfast, lunch or dinner! They have the best home style potatoes I get them every time I go. I most recently tired the avocado toast on the chefs menu and absolutely loved the favors in it! Love this place when I'm in studio city for something quick but also great home style taste read more

This place is ok. Not a huge fan of the service or the food. Considering that the menu was like 5-6 pages the food you serve should at least taste good. We ordered 3 different items from the menu and they were all ok-ish. To say the least. The service was soo slow. Although the servers were nice, the wait time to have a server come to take our order was outrageous. My turkey and brie panini looked like something a teenager can make at home. 10/10!! The breakfast here is a MUST try!! Everything was delicious! I had the waffle with strawberries, along with the "home style potatoes"- that were AMAZING!!!.. Small little place but you have to try it! & the service was amazing as well!! I will be returning! read more
I like the Jumpin Java, the food is scrumptious and as interesting as the people who also eat there. I only like coming here for breakfast, the menu is varied and goes with the many ways you can have your coffee. For breakfast I've ordered the Blueberry Pancakes, the California Omelet, Eggs Benedict, a Ranch Scramble, and some Bacon scramble. For drinks/coffee I've had a few Lattes, a few Cafe Au Laits, and it's all been fine for me. Their orange juice is fresh-squeezed. I really like their home-style potatoes, I'm a fan of potatoes over hash browns and I always like the herbs that they put it with. Their pancakes are good too. Pricier than other breakfast places, but always unique. That's Jumpin Java. FYI I prefer sitting outside if the weather is nice :) read more

This place is a knew find for me in the valley and boy am I glad I did! The breakfast has been deeelish every time and service is on point! I've come here twice so far for a sunday brunch with a friend and we always order our food and share a pancake because that's the best way to start off your Sunday! I got the salmon benedict both times and they were delicious each time! It's hard to find a spot that offers salmon instead of bacon so I can't resist ordering the same item. The eggs have been well peached and perfectly runny in the center which is what I love! The pancakes. I'm not a huge pancake lover but man, these are pretty amazing. A little crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. Deeelish! I've got to say, I've definitely found my new breakfast spot! read more

I'm actually writing this in the restaurant because the girlfriends on the phone and I obviously have to be on my phone too. Carlos is our server and he is phenomenal, he had recommendations and is very friendly...maybe we can be friends someday. The milkyway mocha is like an angel kiss on your tongue, so tasty and delicious. Get a double if its one of those mornings. Ill be back fa sho. Peace n blessings. read more

I have to say, this place is pretty bomb. I can't believe this was my first time going there, as I've driven past it a million times over, but I never stopped for some reason. Maybe I'm always passing it as I've already eaten or perhaps I was already on my way to eat somewhere else, but I'm happy we decided to stop today. Great food, nice staff, clean environment, and the wait to get our food was only a tad too long. Parking is simple enough, and I have nothing to complain about. I had the steak ranchero and it was very yummy. Cooked perfectly and laid over scrambled eggs with potatoes covered with avocado and sour cream. I loved it. If you are in Studio and looking for a good place to sit down and eat with a group of four or less, this spot comes recommended by this yelper. I give JJ a tender 4 out of 5 stars read more

Cute little place on Ventura & Carpenter Ave w outdoor seating as well as indoor. Huge menu selection. Many items came on lavash bread which was different and unique. We shared the hazelnut and fruit crepe and a side of eggs. It was delicious. The crepe came with a small dish of fruit that was very fresh and included many kinds of fruit not just cantaloupe. See photo! We want to come back and try some of their other items sometime bc all the dishes that walked by our table looked incredible and smelled incredible!! read more

I was so excited to be here having yelp for grits. Being my first time - I'm trying to be not so harsh, but it just was bad. I ordered the grist and sausage, The grits had ZERO flavor and lacked in the simple flavor of salt. The grits was so loose it was more like a soup. The side potatoes I had, STONE COLD! ( sadly they had just open @ 0800 and it's only about 0830) The server took everything back and I ordered the Greek omelette, like it's brother the grits was again flavorless. I'm a given um a second try sort of person---- but I feel that omelette was the second try. Moving on! Over all $20 for breakfast gone! read more

I LOVE this restaurant! I've never visited in person but I moved down here around March and I order delivery from them regularly. Their food is delicious. They are also really great about allowing you to customize it to your tastes or dietary needs. And they are incredibly accommodating. I can tell they care a lot about their customers. One time I screwed up and ordered for pick up instead of delivery, and I wasn't able to come pick it up, and they sent one of their workers to deliver it for me and didn't even charge me for it. That was so nice of them, especially considering we are in the middle of a pandemic and I'm sure they could have really used the money from the delivery but no, they just super care about their customers. Today is the day after Christmas, and they sent me free pancakes with my meal with a lovely note wishing me a happy new year and also writing in that it's dairy free because they figured out my dietary needs based on how I ordered!! I found this place around 3pm on a Saturday when all the other breakfast restaurants were closing. I'm glad they were open until 5pm. I came here to give it a try and I must say, I loved my food! And the location. I ordered the Greek Omelette. It was huge and so delicious!!!! It comes with a side of either potatoes, fruits, or cottage cheese. I ordered the cottage cheese. It was very good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have very limited parking space in the back, maybe like 3 spots but they also have street parking out in the front. The gentleman that helped us was very friendly. I also tried the Pistachio & Orange Blossom pancake. It was very good. I will definitely be back here again for breakfast. read more

This was our first visit here and we just had one of the best breakfasts in town. Coffee was perfectly strong but not toooo strong, eggs Benedict poached to perfection, the best potatoes I've ever had (whatever that seasoning is - it's delicious) and my daughter really enjoyed her nutella crepe. And to top it off, the service was very kind. What a warm and cozy atmosphere! Thank you for the lovely experience. I will definitely be back again. read more
