Small bar with a pleasant wait staff. The food is good. Nothing really exceptional. They host trivia night as well which was ok but just average questions. It's written on a piece of paper which feels kind of just like a test.

I am a member of a group in "Meetup" for game enthusiasts. Juan Murphy's is one of a few locations where the group meets at regularly. Juan Murphy's is a perfect location for us to meet. The usual bartender is lovely and there are two spacious rooms--one is where you enter from the front door with a good sized bar as well as a good number of tables and the second one is where we meet and have a plenty of tables and seating for our various games. The menu is great and all of the food I have ordered over the past year has been really delicious. Definitely a consistently positive experience!

Lets be serious for just a moment here. When you read the name of this resturant you think its a typo, when you think about a Mexican/Irish fusion this sounds like something out of a cheesy rom-com film where a bad date is destined to happen. But with all that said this is NOT that! This place is truly a GEM with GREAT food, a fun ambiance and food fare not typical of what we consider Pub food. The meal began with complimentary chips and salsa which were promptly devoured. The appetizer chosen was the "Knockaverry Fries" crispy seasoned fries covered in melted cheese, crumbled chorizo and ranch dressing. My only request was more ranch because the fries were SO GOOD! Hot and crispy, lots of toppings. The meals chosen were the Special of the Day "Surf and turf", Sea food chowder and Chicken Quesadilla. The chowder was delicious! Not the kind of fare I would find at a pub but was I sure glad as it was cold outside and that chowder warmed my soul. The Carne Asada was SHOCKINGLY good, like it had no business being that good in a Mexican/Irish fusion but it worked. Full of flavor and not all tough and stringy, the shrimp were clean, hot and so buttery good! The refried beans were actual mashed beans not out of the can, guac and rice were on point. The quesadilla was STUFFED with chicken and cheese, crispy really just what was needed. As the meal came to a close I had half of everything still on the plate as I could not finish it all but was so glad i took a chance on this place. Because of the great food, and lively atmosphere I give them 5 Stars!

The La Isla Bonita is absolutely fantastic--I haven't found another place that comes close to a sandwich like that. The service is also top-notch; the staff really knows the menu, and they're consistently efficient and personable. It's a great spot whether I'm stopping by on a whim for a solo lunch or with my wife and our dog along for a day out. Highly recommend!

A few of us were interested in the chicken sandwich special served Rueben style on Texas toast. I asked if I could order it but put it on a brioche bun instead I was told NO. All of the other sandwiches came on a brioche bun so I figured it wasn't a big deal but I really got a hard NO from the server. Another special was fish tacos. It was disappointing in taste, quality, and presentation. It was flat breaded fish filets on mini tortillas with some iceberg lettuce and a bit of pico. We asked for a sauce or hot sauce and were handed a bottle of of Tabasco. The other fish sandwiches were mediocre and definitely not homemade. Even the fries were frozen and not crispy. I guess I expected better for the steep prices.

I love this place!…read more We came here for a comedy show on Saturday and decided to try some of their food. I went with the Shrimp cocktail and the shrimp used were just perfect! I am always scared when ordering shrimp cocktail due to the fact some establishments use crap grade shrimp, well not this place, they were spectacular. I believe many of the chefs I read graduated from the Culinary Institute of America which is located extremely close to this restaurant, and this could be part of the reason why their food game is on point. My girlfriend got the beef stew, and they gave ample portions of meat with delicious gravy and the mashed potatoes were nothing to sneeze at either. I got a couple Jack and Diet's and the upcharge for a double is not that bad, at the time of writing this I believe it is a four-dollar upcharge. Also got a merlot and it was fresh and delightful. If I lived closer to this place, I would be here all the time. There are several colleges near here, so I assume the vibe is great as well if you are looking to come and have a good time. The train station literally shares there parking lot so if you plan on partaking in a good time with drinks and spirits it would be a good idea to just train it over. As always people SYOY, and if you live even remotely close to Mahoney's, visit often for me! Cheers!!

On the weekends it turns on a late-night party scene filled with college students. It is lined up right in Main Street with other smaller restaurants and bars. This was one of my favorite cheap eateries in the town while I was in college. I have been here twice since for happy hour specials. I ordered the chicken wings and the shrimp tacos. The drinks were around $5 which is a steal compared to New York City prices. In the past they used to offer a large fishbowl drink for your birthday. It was huge and took several people to drink it. Currently it is the size of a large cup as you can see in the picture. It does the job but it is much smaller than what it was in 2010. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I usually sit at the bar which is a great place to meet others and watch the game. Everyone usually comes in for drinks and a quick meal. There are large tables for families to come in and spread out. Everyone was nice here. I plan to come back soon and take advantage of the happy hour specials again.
