This is one of my favorite places to visit in New Paltz. It has one of the best happy hours in the area. On the weekends it turns on a late-night party scene filled with college students. It is lined up right in Main Street with other smaller restaurants and bars. This was one of my favorite cheap eateries in the town while I was in college. I have been here twice since for happy hour specials. I ordered the chicken wings and the shrimp tacos. The drinks were around $5 which is a steal compared to New York City prices. In the past they used to offer a large fishbowl drink for your birthday. It was huge and took several people to drink it. Currently it is the size of a large cup as you can see in the picture. It does the job but it is much smaller than what it was in 2010. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I usually sit at the bar which is a great place to meet others and watch the game. Everyone usually comes in for drinks and a quick meal. There are large tables for families to come in and spread out. Everyone was nice here. I plan to come back soon and take advantage of the happy hour specials again. read more

The first thing I will say is that the staff knows how to pour a Guinness, which is always a plus. This is one of the busier places in town with all sorts of college kids and locals mixed. After a long hike at .Minnewaska State Park, my best friend, Pots & Pans, and I stopped at McGillicuddy's. Not our first time here. It's our "go-to" spot in the New Paltz area for wings. And since Pots is my "wingman", we indulged. Two sets of ten....teriyaki and garlic parmesan. Our server, Taylor, was swift (and affable, attentive, and helpful). Wings were delicious. Gooey, meaty, finger lickin good. The drummies were yummy, the wings were Ba-da-bing good. And, for once, Pots did not use a knife & fork to eat them. There's hope for him yet. Place is stuck in the 80s with the ceiling covered in dust near vents , bathrooms were clean . We stopped by for lunch at 1230 and ordered wings as that's what they advertised as what they known for . Wings came out fast so it indicated they were pre- cooked. I was in the area and was looking for a good spot for lunch. I'm glad I stopped here! I've passed McGillicuddy's many times but had never stopped in. I was looking for a burger and am glad I came here. I ordered an iced tea, tenders, a burger and the peanut butter mousse. Everything I tried was so good! The bar and seating area was pretty large. You could definitely host a large party here or have a big event in this space. There were lots of seats at the bar, and there were many spacious, large booths. On January 21, 2025, we stopped to eat McGillicuddy's before attending a basketball game at SUNY New Paltz. We chose the restaurant because they had convenient hours, location, and fairly good rating. We ere not diasppaointed. The atmosphere is typical of a sports bar with TVs in strategic locations and music playing in the background. We ere promptly seated and waited on by our server,Morgan. Our server, Morgan was very attentive and served us very quickly. We were on time schedule to get to the game on time. Morgan was kind enough to inform us of the time. I live up in PA but we were in NY visiting a few parks and decided to stop in this small town for some grub. The place was very empty when we went in, buttttt it was a Wednesday so that makes sense I guess. With that being said the service was veryyyyy fast. As for the food, I got the Nashville chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got something off their specialty menu. I believe it was the brioche BLT with Turkey? The drinks were pretty good too. CUDDY'S! One of our go-to spots while matriculating at SUNY NP, had many a fun night dancing on the seats, going to 10 cent wing night, and drunkenly staring at myself in the bathroom mirror and realizing I am too drunk. Revisiting it as an adult nearly a decade later, and it's barely changed, save for the plexiglass Covid barriers between booths. I'm glad that getting in a weekend getaway to my old haunts provided me the nostalgic hug from Cuddy's. We ordered wings and fries and reveled at how cheap the drinks were (especially the beer). Almost everything was burnt, poorly seasoned or both. Not a fresh ingredient in sight. The nachos had a cheese sauce that was cold and bland. The mozz sticks were burnt to a crisp. The garlic cheese curds were soooo tiny /mostly breading and without any garlic flavor at all. The low reviews threw us off. We walked by several times because we didn't think it was going to be good but then we said "Eff it. We going in and eating us some chicken wangs!" And hot damn, they were good! We had the Jamaican Dry Rub and it was crispy, juicy and lots of herbs and flavors. We also ordered the Inferno Buffalo Wings and they were no joke. It burned but a good burn that you can't stop. The Irish Spring rolls were innovative and highly recommend. We also ordered the Fried Pickles and everything was very delicious. Service was great and we were able to catch the U.S. Opens will dining. Music was also surprising good and I would like to follow their playlist, please and thank you. 1 star. Just finished a good lunch. My lil girls and I go all the time for the wings and they always give lil gifts in a treasure box for the kids. Good service always. Unfortunately I can no longer support the business... they added a $2.40 surcharge to the bill. Asked why and it's the new credit card system, charges when using a credit card... unacceptable. It is the cost of doing business. You can raise prices like every other business, that's understandable. But I hate when they sneak in fees. Unfortunately it made us tip $5 less for the lovely waitress. It's not the money, we tip 25% normally but only did 20% today and will not be going back. Sad. Same with cash only businesses, in 2023 we will not support. Update: Come to find out that my outrage is justified. They have a delicious pumpkin cider w the honey brown sugar rim omg food was great too! Wings are the best but the burgers !!! Holy cow! They're so worth it! Price is great too. Additionally, my friend and I walked into a bathroom as a male and genderfluid person (which they aren't accommodating in offering a separate bathroom), so they threw us out when they saw us enter the bathroom and claimed we were doing cocaine. Here from out of state for a graduation, and place is packed! Only a 10min wait. Was hesitant after reading a few negative reviews. But our server Kate was professional, timely and had a nice smile while taking care of a lot of customers. Only 4/5 stars cause our cheese sticks could have been take out of fryer a bit sooner (saw that in another review too ). I know. picky picky. Nice, large pub with great food and service. The wings were close to perfect, crispy, awesome buffalo sauce. But then the blue cheese burger was also delicious, two meat patties with fried onions, the thing was a beast, good for sharing. To bring it together the margaritas were absolutely on the money. This was my second visit and it was really good again. My only complaint is the place smells a little! When you walk in the door you get hit with this stale beer smell! Good is really good at reasonable prices!! Had wings both time there and they were really good!! Burgers are very big and I recommend upgrading to the waffle fries!!! What is going on at this place lately ? It's going downhill and fast . The food was always just OK nothing to rave about but this last visit was the worst . The management is embarrassing. The owner addresses nothing and leaves customers to speak to a 20 year old "manager" named Deanna who is constantly seen speaking/flirting with a male coworker leaving no other option but to leave a Yelp Review. The Fish sandwich tasted bad like the fish was actually bad . I did not eat it in fear of getting sick and the marinara on the kids pasta was thick and disgusting. When I complained and asked to speak to the manager not only was I charged for everything but she never came over . Until this place gets new help and a better manager for better customer service , we will not be returning . read more

Ehhhh... it's a standard bar. Has booth tables as well. Downtown New Paltz doesn't really seem to have a night life other than eating dinner and drinking at bars. This one bar seems to stay open later than most. Plays music and music videos on the screen. Crowd starts older 30-40's then becomes young (like a early twenties feel) after a certain time... at least that's how it was when I went. You won't find cocktails like mixology Kinda drinks here... you will find beer, hard liquor and fishbowls - that's what I saw plus bar food. read more
