Our experience with Neal Puckett was poor from the time we signed our contract. We signed our…read morecontract in Feb 2022 and excavation took 3 months to start because he kept failing to get the permit submitted with the city. I finally had to call the city myself and they said they had not received any paperwork from Pond Springs. After I mentioned this to Neal, it was done within a week. Excavation began in April and our pool was filled in August (this is the only reason for 2 stars, it was fairly quick to fill date). However, since August 2022, we have had numerous items never get completed, including our fire feature which has not worked EVER, and several other items that are holding up our final inspection and our HOA deposit. Two other items on our contract have not been done at all, and we have basically given up on those. We have been very gracious and patient but at this point I will have to get an attorney to get him to finish the job so we can get through final inspection. Neal has been unresponsive to us unless I call from one of my office phone numbers that he doesn't know. He's completely ghosted us otherwise. I've never had to chase someone so much to get a job done, it's ridiculous. Wish we would have just gone with Denali. Look up other pool companies he has owned/managed and AVOID!!!

After getting a review from a work colleague and liking the plans and thinking Neal was nice, we…read moredecided to move forward with our pool and pavilion build with Neal Puckett of Pond Spring Custom Pools pondspringscustompools.com and it was a huge mistake. I glossed over the early red flag of Neal's very slow or lack of responses thinking it would change once we started our project... it didn't. Things started fine after we waited for him to secure the city permit to build the pool project... things started ok but ended taking of 5+ months longer than Neal quoted. Neal had every excuse when he would respond. It was always someone else's fault... What made things go from bad to horrible is that at the end of the project Neal Puckett suddenly changed his tune when he wanted final payment that we didn't need a permit to build our pool or support walls. He flat out LIED and built our pool / project without a permit... after saying in writing that he did have what was required to start the project. While he's said he'll get the permits completed it's now been 7 months with no progress and as usual a complete lack of response. If his quote seems less than other contractors it's likely because he's cutting corners. Buyer beware.

I realized that my previous update had very little information forgetting that the intention here…read moreis to share some of our experience so that you can make an informed decision. So here's more info: Initially, we were quite pleased in selecting Justin Wagner/Soaking Wet Productions to renovate our pool and we signed a contract with him on 9/11/20. The first phase was demo/excavation which for us was relatively simple since we were renovating. We discovered that a negative yelp review had posted and immediately contacted Justin Wagner. After several attempts to reach him, he finally responded stating that our project was different and would be completed on time (he promised to complete our renovation by Thanksgiving). Unfortunately, we experienced some of what is listed in the October '20 yelp review. In addition, Justin Wagner stated he would pay a sub to come catch up on the timeline, but that didn't happen. Concrete was hand mixed and hand poured on different days, uneven concrete walls (different thickness), his crew at times had nothing to do because they told us that they didn't have any materials or working equipment, and the list continues. I had intended to update this review as the project progressed. Honestly, we feared that a downgraded rating would also have a negative impact on Justin Wager's progress. For this reason, I opted not to update the review until it was completed. Now 6 months later, we have an non-functioning pool, see photos. Needless to say, we've terminated our contract.

I should have listened to the other reviews. At first, Justin seemed like he had it together. His…read moreplans were beautiful and hand drawn. He has a lot of knowledge about pool building and a passion for it as well. He brought a guy with him one day before we signed and it seemed like he had a crew. But once we gave him the deposit, it all started to fall apart. The first red flag was when he brought over a dirt excavator and was surprised when he hit rock a foot down. Anyone that lives remotely close to Austin knows the ground is pure limestone. After a week of trying to get a bobcat out (because he rents all of his equipment) he finally was able to start breaking up the ground. Many days he would show up around 3 and work maybe 2-3 hours. He never showed up before 11 and never stayed longer than 5-6 hours on a good day, which was only a few times. He brought one guy as a "crew" one day. He even showed up at 5 on a Saturday and made noise until 7 until we told him to stop. Many days he was a no show. He had many wild stories and excuses of why he couldn't come. At this point, I'm not sure any of them were true. I have all of his hours logged in our cameras, and he was here a total of 42 hours over the course of 35 days. My husband talked to him on a few occasions about how we were not happy with how he was handling things, but he continued to make excuses and make promises. We started to suspect that there were financial issues. The final straw was when he sent a dump truck, didn't show up and couldn't be reached to show the guy what to do, and then asked us to pay for the dump truck, claiming that it was in the contract, which it is not. We then got a call from his so called secretary, Bianca, saying that he had been attacked. He apparently had no working phone. I called the rental company and found out he has not paid yet for the equipment in our yard, so now I'm wondering where in the world our $6500 deposit went. On October 20th, we fired him. He got very combative with us claiming that we were in contract with him and that this is a legal issue and we need to get a lawyer. He called it theft of services rendered. He then proceeded to deliver a notarized mechanics lien on our home with a total amount owed on it for all of the work he has not even begun. This morning I called the city and found out that he had not even filed for a permit or had an inspection done. He then went ahead and had a dump truck sent even when I told him to stop all work. I sent the guy away. He then knocked on my door and told me he was going to have the guy go back there and load it all up. I told him that he was to stay off my property and that I would call the police if he did not. I went on to explain that in the contract it clearly states that the contract does not begin until excavation is complete. I also let him know that he didn't get a permit or inspection and he tried to say that he did. He went on playing the victim saying things like, "Why are you being so hostile? Why do you hate me so much? What have I done to you? I've given you everything you wanted!" He refused to listen to me and acted like how dare I behave this way to him. I definitely lost my patience on him. He's clearly delusional. Believe me, this guy can talk the talk at first, but you should take these reviews as a serious warning to stay away. He uses money from one job to pay for another and when he runs out, you will be screwed. Edited on 11/14/21. We asked him to remove the lien on our property since it is a fraudulent lien, and we got several nasty responses back. We were accused of harassing him and he threatened to call 911. Also do yourself a favor and check this guy's record on Williamson County public records. He's filed multiple liens on other's property and has also been taken to court by these families. Each time he has lost and has several judgments against him. It's amazing the same thing keeps happening to him and he continues to be sued and now owes hundreds of thousands of dollars. He is conning people and it needs to stop.

While there is some chance he can fix it, but there is a large chance that like me he doesn't fix it. Charges you $375. Creates a huge leak in your area that ruins carpets. Promises to come back, doesn't come back. Say's he'll make it right and then doesn't. Here are the issues with Rodney: He's not a good troubleshooter. Despite having worked with spas a long time, he's not good a featuring out what the problem is. He cuts corners. For example he put the wrong piping in our hot tub which resulted in a huge leak that he denied repsonisiblity for. He said "it wasn't leaking when I left, so it's your fault". The next guy outlined all the problems it was a vertical consumer white piping not grey hottub suitable piping. You can't trust he will do what he says he will. He seems very earnest and says "Trust me" a lot, but you can't. Even if you get it in writing like I did, he will back out. During the first round, the hot tub didn't get fixed, but he said it was and said he had to go to another appointment. He promised to come back in the morning if there were any problems. It started leaking and I told him this multiple times, and he didn't respond for a long time. He didn't show up as promised in the morning, but said he would come at 5:00pm, but didn't show up again. Claimed he didn't say he would. He finally came back and did a bunch of work, but couldn't figure out the problem. He said he would need to charge to do more troubleshooting, even after he agreed in writing he would fix it for no more cost. We finally got another person out from Poole, and they were the opposite. Took 30 minutes to figure everything out and pointed out all the problems that rodney created. If you choose rodney, and horrible things happen and you have read this, then it's no one's fault but yours.
