This is not the type of restaurant you typically expect in a strip mall. I have visited three times and the food and service are consistent. The interior is neutral cream with large banquettes stylish lighting and wood beam ceilings. The wine selection is fairly large with a mix of glass and bottle portions. The cocktails menu shifts with the season and had several fall flavored drinks. We ordered a prosciutto pizza with arugula and buratta. The crust had a touch of burn and was good for folding. The salmon entree was plated well with moroccan lentils and roasted carrots. It was a great Friday night dinner. read more

I'm back at Josie's Table on a spur of the moment Mother's Day date with myself. I thought they'd be closed, but they had extended hours to celebrate mothers, like me! I settled in at the bar when my phone rang. It was my son, calling to wish me Happy Mother's Day from Seattle. Drea, who served me, was so sweet! When I told her I was having a Mother's Day phone date with my son, said, "Put him on video!" and came over with a water carafe to steady my phone. So I got to dine with my son on such wondrous things as Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts and and Roasted Mushrooms. I had a business lunch here yesterday, right when it opened. The restaurant is lovely inside and the service was wonderful. We both had the salad specials and added salmon and scallops. We ended with a warm brownie dessert that was very yummy. Lunch for two with just tea for drinks came to $72 before tip so it was on the high end. I also tried my friend's beet salad and that too was excellent. We then shared the prosciutto pizza. The thin crust pizza was delightful. What a disappointment! I have been to Josie's table several times before and I was looking forward to Sunday Brunch there. We had reservations for 1:00, and the place was bustling. When our waitress finally appeared at our table she did apologize for the wait, however, her apology was curt and lacked sincerity. I questioned her about the "Farmer's Breakfast" because I have High Blood Pressure and I can't have excessive sodium. I specifically asked if the chefs could cut the salt and she abruptly responded "of course". I ordered the eggs poached as did my companion. I have never tasted so much SALT in restaurant food, especially the Fingerling Potatoes. The poached eggs were also hard and overcooked ( Overcooked eggs are a pet peeve of mine). When I brought to her attention the excessive salt and overcooked eggs she proceeded to tell me that the turkey hash is pre-made (which I would appreciated knowing beforehand). I told her that I didn't want to send the breakfast back because my companion and I had another commitment and I knew with the strained service that it was doubtful that I would even get another plate in time. It was difficult to even get a refill on coffee. She just shrugged and walked away, never offered to get me another breakfast or take any money off. Her attitude was impersonal and uncaring, and truthfully she didn't deserve a tip. I have always had positive experiences at this restaurant, but it is doubtful that I will go back. read more

We had an excellent Sunday brunch experience. We made reservations and were seated right away. We ordered a draft beer and a Bloody Mary as our drinks - here's the only odd part of our experience - they were both priced higher on our bill then the menu yet the menu is very new (brunch just started a couple weeks ago). So that wasn't great and we alerted our server (and we paid the higher price), but nothing that makes me want to knock a star off. If we returned and the prices are still incorrect then I'd definitely have an issue. Back to the good stuff. The place is gorgeous, comfortable tables while still elevated decor. We ordered the baked pimento cheese to start and this was just amazing - definitely has a spicy kick we enjoyed. We both had the short rib Bennie with crispy smashed potatoes as our meals. The potatoes are the best I've had at a brunch, just perfect. The Bennie could have used a bit more hollandaise - couldn't really taste that, but can't complain as the red wine onions bring an extra layer of flavor. This was our 1st time as we live in MA. We went for Sunday Brunch & it was delightful except for the noise level inside. We decided to eat outside which was better. Hummus plate was especially good, with a lot of veggie accoutrements, such as zucchini, pickled red onion, nice bread, and pickled peppers. Mushrooms were excellent with the added bonus of a fried egg on top. I liked the cauliflower. Bleu cheese and hot sauce. Josie's Salad was good, although I can't remember all the ingredients. Was looking around for good lunch spots in the Albany area. This came up as an option. It's located in Stuyvesant Plaza next to many cool shops. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. One of the best I've had. Chicken breast was large--crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The sauce was sweet and spicy. Absolutely delicious! Had a difficult time eating all of it as they give a nice sized portion. Definitely worth a stop. They have a jalapeño lemonade that is also worth a try. Great service! read more

Hey everyone, we just want to introduce ourselves. We are the hungry hippos of the 518. To be upfront, we will be very stingy with our 5-star reviews. With that being said... for our first review, Josie's Table hit it out of the park. Service: 5/5. Our server, Todd, was kind, attentive, and NOT a helicopter waiter, which we appreciated. Atmosphere: 3.75/5. Off the bat, we weren't sure if the hostess was yanking our chain because she asked if we had a reservation, and when we said no, she said "Hmmm let me see if I have something" but the restaurant was empty. Of note, we did arrive at 5:10 pm, 10 minutes after opening. It filled quickly which eased our worries. The interior was beautiful, very modern look. Perhaps the tables were a little close together but it facilitated a feeling of camaraderie and allowed us to eavesdrop on our neighbors. The bathroom could use some updates and the toilets weren't too friendly for our taller pals. Food: 5/5. Burger- delish. The flavors were melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Salmon cooked perfectly, all thanks to Chef Pete. Drink: 3.5/5. Although there were no problems finishing the drink, the hibiscus martini tasted a little like cough syrup. Came in for a family brunch, it took a few minutes for the hostess to get to us but they were able to seat us despite not having a reservation at a hi-top. Great menu, found lots of items that were up my alley well before making it to the end. I only have a picture of the short ribs Benedict, but we also got French toast and the farmers breakfast because it had a sweet potato hash I wanted to try and it was amazing. Josies table is a great spot to come in for an upscale and enjoyable lunch with friends, or a spot to relax at the very long bar by the front area. We arrived around 2ish before they close at 3 to do a turnaround for dinner, and this spot has great design and decor with shrubbery and trees wallpaper on the walls, as well as long couch seats with wraparound table design, I really liked that. The service was great, our server was very professional, friendly, energetic, punctual, knowledgable, and was able to really entertain the table with her personality. She didn't push or upsell anything, just felt like she really enjoyed being there. There was another guy serving who seemed to be a little more intense, glad we didn't get him. The food is delicious, I split a burger and club sandwich with one of the people I was with, and both were great and flavorful. The burger with the jam made it really sweet, and the 1/2 I ate was delicious. The Parm Truffle fries were the winner though, the rest of the table peeled them off before I could even have like 3-4 fries, but what I did have was great. Tonight I was looking for a place to get a bite to eat in Stuyvesant Plaza, being I was in the area. I found this place and it did not disappoint. I ordered Oysters as an appetizer and the Lobster Pappardelle Special as my main course. First the Oysters came, with a great deal of seasoning and flavor hitting my taste buds immediately. Then came the Lobster Pappardelle Special, and it was the highlight of the night. The Lobster was seasoned very well and the Pasta had a great Carbonara sauce mixed in, and it went extremely well with the Lobster that came with it. Moreover the service wasn't great, the waitress only came over to my table twice, which did seem somewhat distasteful to me. The Ambience was very quaint and nicely designed, with no complaints or criticisms sticking out to me when it comes to the interior. This place is the place to go if you're looking for a place to eat near Crossgates mall or if you're shopping at Stuyvesant Plaza. read more

I opted to sit at the bar, in which the bartender was completely amazing and held great conversation. What a fabulous date day! We were sad when Provence closed because we loved to sit outside for lunch on the patio. This was the first time that we were able to find time to have lunch at Josie's Table. The hostess told us that it was under the same ownership with the same chef. We really appreciated the farm to table vibe. The food was fresh and delicious. Apparently you can make a reservation for outdoor dining. I didn't even think to do this because most places don't take reservations for outside dining. I put my name in and sadly for my bank account found a lovely outfit among other things in the stores in Stuyvesant Plaza. My husband had the club sandwich which he said was delicious and I had the arugula burrata salad with added chicken. There was a good amount of cheese so I really didn't need the extra protein. But it was delicious! Since there was no riesling by the glass, I splurged and had a cocktail. A specialty cocktail, the tangerini, was a delightful indulgence! I would like to beg, however, for the restaurant to add a nice sweet riesling by the glass. I always did enjoy that with my lunch at the other restaurant. Service was good, food was delicious, atmosphere was carefree and fun, and it was crowded! Inside and out... We are so happy to have this restaurant back in Stuyvesant Plaza. read more

We went for brunch and everyone was so impressed! Every dish we ordered was perfectly balanced and flavorful. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich, tenderloin Bennie, kids French toast, and ricotta toast. I could probably eat that ricotta toast everyday! They clearly put a bit of money into the remodel for this place (this was my first visit since it was an old French place), and it's beautiful, spacious, and very clean! There's a lovely lounge area in the front as well. I especially appreciated the service here as well! Everyone we encountered was so sweet to my toddler, the food and drinks were fast, and I never felt like I waited for anything. They were busy. I believe the outdoor dining has a different menu. I had the best tasting burger ever and Parm fries! Server was very friendly. My only issue was how incredibly noisy it was on the upper eating area near the kitchen. Impossible to hear one another speak and the adjacent diners were seated so close that their conversation drowned our attempts so we just nodded at each other and ate. We decided to forego dessert and head to a coffee shop to actually complete our conversations. Not sure how to fix that but it's noisy enough that I would not return. read more
