#Service #Food #setting A very relaxing dinner, with attentive service & staff to our needs & requests. The Food was incredible. The dining room "Deco" is honorary of the fishing & shipping industry of the Great Lakes & NY. Definitely a location to return too & to recommend.

Don't be fooled by the boring corporate hotel restaurant decor, the food is top quality at very reasonable prices.

We were in town and meeting up with some old friends and because we were staying near the airport, they suggested Mr. D's. Overall, it was OK and delivered what we needed it to, but it wasn't the greatest of dining experiences. Here's why: - It's definitely a hotel restaurant...it seems like the type of restaurant associated with a much lower end hotel. Perhaps it was the floor, the decor or the blowing cold air that we couldn't escape, but it had a really cold vibe. There were also some tables directly below speakers billowing fairly loud music, so we asked to be seated somewhere that would be a little quieter. - Service was pretty subpar...starting the water being dumped out of the water glasses when they were served and not being wiped up without us asking for an extra napkin to clean it up. The server also didn't seem to be able to understand the special requests (that all the rest of us seemed to get) that one of the people in our party made...so the food came out wrong later. - Menu wasn't bad with a broad range of both bar food, lighter sandwiches/salads, and full meals. - Now, having said all that above, the food was not bad. I ordered the Salmon Fillet Salad, asking for the salmon medium rare, and it ended up being cooked perfectly and the dish was very tasty overall. My wife got the Desmond BLT-E and really liked that too. - We each only had one glass of house wine with dinner, so I can't comment on their beverage selections. Botton line: This is definitely not fine or semi-fine dining...from my experience, I wouldn't go back to Mr. D's unless I'm trapped at the hotel and really in need of some food/drink or if I was traveling on business and eating alone.

Had a lovely visit. My husband and I stopped in for a drink and found seats at the bar right away. My hubby had a dirty martini and I had a cocktail with lemon and honey, I believe (I forgot the name but it was delicious). I also ordered a Cuban sandwich with chips and coleslaw and took it to my room. Yum! Bartender was friendly and attentive and it was clean and nicely decorated. Will absolutely return.

The only reason I gave this place to stars is because the breakfast and the breakfast crew made up for some of what happened the night before. We made reservations for dinner on Friday evening for five people. We ordered the Korean barbecue wings on the recommendation of the waitress and they were very good. Out of the five main dishes, two were inedible. One was the mahi soft tacos, which came in case in dried out stale taco shells, which at one point I suspect we're soft. There was scanned fish inside and a lot of mayonnaise slaw on top. After trying to eat one I stopped. The dish was completely inedible. Another main a pork also Boco was served with a leathery piece of dried out pork with absolutely no gravy on it. Looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The hostess and waitress were very apologetic and remove the two mains from our bill. It was hard to locate the waitress and she forgot to bring additional drinks we ordered. Altogether a miserable experience for a celebratory evening. The dining room is very nice, however, and we were able to sit near the fireplace .

The service was excellent. The food average. Certain dishes were better than others. No complaints about the French onion soup which exceeded expectations. The Oso Buco was supposed to come with Forest mushrooms. They did not. Instead, I got a squash medley. The mashed potatoes Did have a hint of mushroom flavor, but were overpowered by horseradish which just didn't work. The osso bucco itself was fine. We had a party of 13 and we all take food, pretty seriously and tasted one another's meals and appetizers. The drunken clams were quite good. The pizza appetizer was disappointing. The beer and alcohol was very satisfying, quite a nice assortment, served at the right temperature. The mixed drinks were well-made. The cappuccino didn't taste right, the coffee didn't taste right, the service was excellent and the waitresses worked very hard to please us.

We stay at the Desmond Hotel often and I look forward to going to Mr. D's. If you're just coming for a meal, you're in the right spot. Extremely easy to get to and the huge parking lot can easily handle many cars. After entering the beautifully renovated lobby of the hotel, you make a quick left into the restaurant. There is also a dedicated entrance. The casual modern decor makes for a very relaxing visit here. There is a great bar with wonderful staff. Plenty of room to sit as well as many high tops and standard tables. There is also a lower seating area with a TV and plenty of comfort. Most of the time I get the wings, which are perfect-delicious. Just crispy enough and a wonderful mild (or medium sauce.) They are also a good size to enjoy. Their lettuce wraps and flatbread pizza are also delicious. I've come for breakfast in the morning and they do a great job with that too. Eggs (which is what I usually have) are always prepared to my request. They have great meats and even the bagels were good. Great service and an amazing-friendly team. I am always looking forward to my next trip to Albany. KUDOs to the team at Mr. D's.

It started out a little rocky due to the hostess being confused on who was waiting first and yet they wrote down our names lol but me being me I took over to help and everyone was seated in the correct order. Our waitress was one of the best waitresses that I've had in my life! She was attentive to my children and myself. She laughed with us and gave us her recommendations. The ambiance is cute it has a boat vibe. The challah French toast was good as well as the classic breakfast but the turkey bacon is nasty for sure, I'm not sure what brand they use but they need not to use it any longer.

Long time patron first time reviewing. Mr, D's is consistently good and reliable. The drunken clams and lobster bisque are two of the highlights on the menu. They also have outstanding onion rings. Happy hour starts at 4:30pm.

Second time around also excellent. Different chef serving smaller portions, made right when brought to their attention.

Sit at…read morethe bar with all the barrels or the dining area with sports playing on TV, or out on their patio. There is limited parking on the premises but always parking on the street if you don't mind some walking. The slightly rustic, lodge type of interior matches the friendly vibes as well as the interesting drink selections, including a side menu filled with signature coffee whiskey cocktails! Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee.

We would ask her questions about the menu and she looked like she didn't want to answer them. It also seemed as though she was rushing us through our order. My friend wasn't done telling her the specifics about her order when she turned to me and asked me for mine. I had to redirect her back to my friend so she could finish taking her order. The food was okay-ish. The noodles I got were hard to chew and the grilled chicken add on ($8 extra btw) was hard and grilled too crispy. We paid our bill in full and left no tip because the service left something to be desired and the attitude of the servers were more focused on other people. As soon as we go downstairs...another patron comes downstairs with OUR bill (that had our signatures on it bc it was a split bill) to harass us about not tipping the waitress. She mentioned that she used to work there and that she was given the bill and followed us downstairs. We were ordering our ride and she sat downstairs to wait for us to leave and said she wasn't leaving until we got our ride. We begin to go back and forth so that she can leave us alone, when one of my friends goes upstairs to find a manager (who wasn't there). A couple of minutes later, one of the bartenders comes downstairs (She has blonde ends and lip filler) and instead of trying to apologize for her friend's rude behavior just looks at her and says "It's fine" and tries to get her to go back upstairs. No apology was given nor did she try to make us feel like she was sorry it happened. I don't know what kind of establishment gives the bill of customers to other patrons, but I did not appreciate being harassed for something that wasn't her business in the first place. Overall, the lack of remorse and apologies has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning.
