We came here on the way to Mount Olympic National Park, and I got a carne asada burrito. Inside it was rice, beans, and carne asada. I found it odd that there was no lettuce nor cheese. It also came with chips, and there was a huge salsa bar which I very much thoroughly enjoyed; salsa is almost the reason I eat Mexican food! The burrito was pretty average though. At $7.34 post-tax, it was a decent price for the amount of food considering the salsa bar is unlimited. The carne asada wasn't super flavorful but it was tender and chewy. Grab a quick bite to eat here if you're around the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

I decided to give this a shot despite some negative reviews for the vegetarian fare. Unfortunately, they were right. The veggie taco is just sauteed bell peppers, onions and mushrooms on a tortilla - bland and flavorless. You can add jalepenos, pico and other salsas at the salsa bar, but you'll have to pay more for cheese, guac, sour cream, or anything else that would elevate it beyond mediocre. We also ordered a margarita which tasted mostly like sweet and sour mix, even with two shots of tequila. Fortunately, the salsas are good and pack a punch. read more

Great tacos, salsa, and strong margaritas. However, their patio is misleading as well as disappointing. Doggy decor on the walls on the patio would lead you to believe it is dog friendly, as all patios can be according to health code. However they do not allow dogs. My friend and I brought our pups to Jose's to enjoy some margs in the sun only to find that their only "dog friendly" seating is on the street where no alcohol can be served. Being the first time I visited Jose's, I was very disappointed. It looked great from the outside - but is immediately confusing when you walk in. There should be a sign that explains you have 2 options: sit at a table or booth (on the right) and receive table service - or go to the left and it is self service. We weren't sure so opted with the safest self service. My husband had the fish tacos and said they were good. My daughter had the veggie quesadilla. It was soggy and mediocre. I had the bean and cheese enchilada. Tasteless and mostly beans. We were not directed to the beverages when we opted for water. 3/4 of the way through my enchilada I noticed the salsa table. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to use it - but went for it! Lastly, the chips weren't fresh. Had been sitting around for awhile. Would have been nice to have some salsa to dip them in. I ordered to go, so I have a limited review. The menu is simple and easy, tacos, tamales, burritos, and a daily special. Affordable food too, they don't skimp on the meat in the street tacos and the tamale was big and full of meat. The tamale was the best I've ever had, the cornmeal was flavorful and not gummy like some. The salsa bar, the "claim to fame", is a neat idea and probably wasted on me as I'm not a huge fan of salsa. We came from out of town for an overnight stay & chose Jose's for dinner, since it had decent reviews. . . . I was under the impression this was a sit down, order at the table restaurant but instead it had a fast food feel (order at the window & then take to your seat). The food was okay but not anything great & surprisingly the salsas were all pretty disappointing. I think the thing that really earned a 2 star rating was cleanliness (COVID-19). I did not see a single employee cleaning tables & the salsa bar was open with spoons being touch by basically everyone in the restaurant. Updating my previous review with a downgrade. My server/bartender Mike was great, very patient as I described a previous complaint that stopped me from coming back almost 2 yrs ago. He bought my beer to make up for it, super cool move on his part that was completely unexpected. But once again the food was a disappointment. Let's move past the extremely limited menu. I ordered a Carne Esada burrito, it appeared decent size, with chips as the side. But flavor was nonexistent, meat really tough/chewy with some knarly gristle. I chose a hot salsa to give it some life, but even then I just couldn't feel like it had much for taste. If Mike had not bought the beer, and even hooked me up with a amazing tequila taste, I'd probably have gone 2 stars based on the last 2 visits food experiences. Spectacular happy hour menu! I love even their well margarita ! The food at Jose's is great- the portions are large and the food is authentic. I would pass on the salad next time, the greens were not as fresh as I would have hoped. I really love the salsa bar, it is a gray addition to any dish on their menu. Considering this is a bar I was hoping it would be open later but they close fairly early even on the weekends. So I always keep in mind it's a good happy hour spot but not for late night. Not a bad Mexican place that I discovered without relying on my several novels length of bookmarks! Actually this was a second runner up.The first option closed at 3 pm. By the time I got to Sequim due to lengthy traffic delays my blood sugar and patience was quite low and I needed to get some food in me quickly. I went into Jose's Famous Salsa which was jammed packed with people. Some running in front of you to grab a table and so on. Such nice people tourists can be. I did find a table outside to enjoy my awesome chicken burrito with guacamole and sampled several salsas which were great from the salsa bar. The burrito is large and filling but at the same time you don't have to worry too much about leftovers either. There is a side of chips with the burrito that you can enjoy with the salsa options. The ingredients are fresh and tasty which always is important to me. Despite this place being one of the few places where being in a crowd on foot was annoying the food rocked and I would come back! read more

Jose's is a nice little taqueria with tasty food and comfortable atmosphere. The salsa bar is killer and definitely worth coming to check out. However while the food is very good quality and very tasty, I was not overly impressed with the selection for but the burrito/taco menu as it seemed that the only options were a choice of either beef or pork. Jose's is however the only semi legitimate Mexican place in Sequim. So yes, I do recommend it. read more

This was my first time here and I am very happy to have found this place. I live in Port Townsend and come to Sequim now and then, so I will definitely come back. I had the carne asada burrito. It was fresh and tasty with a good amount of meat, beans and rice (no cheese). It came with some chips as well for only $6.00. It's a good deal and a good size. I also liked the salsa bar, where I sampled three different types of salsa, got some sour cream and limes and enjoyed a spicy carrot salsa with corn. Overall, decent food (I prefer organic) and good service in a great location. The restaurant itself is very clean. And being from California originally, I loved hearing the Mexican music. read more

Bare bones. Nothing fancy. Better quality than "fast food" or the hot deli counter at QFC or Safeway. If you're looking for something decent to eat in the 3-6 dollar range than this place is a safe bet, in my opinion. One word of caution, however, avoid using the plastic cups which they leave out for those who would be tempted to drink the free water. The customers must put their hands all over these cups in order to separate one from the stack. Germs, germs, germs--they should consider purchasing a dispenser out of concern for their patrons continued well-being. How much would it cost to use real dishes? They have a small salsa bar with some pretty bland salsas. The food is amazing here at a great price. The carne asada and chicken have the most delicious spices and grilled to perfection. The salsa bar has wonderful salsas, shredded carrot salad, sliced radishes, not to mention sour cream and limes. Rice and beans tasted fresh and healthy. The chips come free and weren't greasy or salty. The guacamole was really fresh and so good! The atmosphere is really neat too. The bar section is where you'll get served and the other side you help yourself. Cool decor and a nice vibe. The restrooms were clean too. My only suggestion would be to get a sneeze guard for the salsa bar. If you want healthy, delicious, fresh Mexican food with generous portions at reasonable prices, this is it!! read more

Read about this place on Yelp, so we decided to visit. Upon arrival, we saw self service to the left, and the full service bar to the right, self explanatory. We seated ourselves, and the bartender almost immediately came over to welcome us, and provided menus. Game one of the World Series was on, and the bartender saw we were interested in watching, and turned the channel on the other big screen so it was all baseball! Trying to decide what beer to order, he asked what we like, and provided a couple samples to choose from. Very nice! Had the baja fish (cod) tacos, which were tasty, and done right.
