Read about this place on Yelp, so we decided to visit. Upon arrival, we saw self service to the left, and the full service bar to the right, self explanatory. We seated ourselves, and the bartender almost immediately came over to welcome us, and provided menus. Game one of the World Series was on, and the bartender saw we were interested in watching, and turned the channel on the other big screen so it was all baseball! Trying to decide what beer to order, he asked what we like, and provided a couple samples to choose from. Very nice! Had the baja fish (cod) tacos, which were tasty, and done right. Salsa is amazing! Love the new layout. The best food value in Sequim: good, tasty and good prices. Jose himself is a great guy and started his business from scratch selling first at Farmer's markets and then opening his own restaurant. Often we buy a dozen frozen tamales and defrost them in batches. Highly recommended! read more

Jose used to vend at our Farmer's Market in Poulsbo and we love his Tamales and his Salsa. We were passing through Sequim on an Olympic Peninsula loop trip and stopped at the restaurant. Jose's Tamales and his Salsa continue to be Top Rate. We took some of both home! He has many other items on the menu that we look forward to trying on our next visit. read more

Joses is a great local restaurant with authentic food. If you're not feeling crazy hungry order a naked burrito, which is the contents of a burrito without the tortilla. Do not waste your money! $30 for 5 tacos & 2 beers! If you want anything on the tacos that you have to go get; extra $ for cheese or sour cream or lettuce or tomatoes! $2 for each!!! Honestly not impressed whatsoever (bummer) !!! My boyfriend and I wanted some yummy street taco style food and were thrilled when we stumbled upon this place on yelp! When we got there we weren't greeted by anyone and looked around to be directed to where we should sit. After realizing that we had to seat ourselves we paid $30 for two PLAIN carne asada tacos & a literal "burrito" that was stuffed with beans and rice ZERO FLAVOR. The vibe was very unauthentic and I would be ashamed to even put them in the same category as "street style food" . Was the salsa good? Yes. Was the meat good? Yes. The burrito --delicious. But honestly, the rest of the entire experience was a 1 star. Since when is tossing meat onto 2 grocery store, oversized corn tortillas is a "street taco"??? The chips tasted too much of oil and desperately needed salt. The iced tea was watery. They did not offer sugar or sweetener, or serve it with a lemon. Our server was horrible. Not an ounce of give-a-crap. No smile, no "help yourself to the salsa." She was the definition of dismissive. Our service here was stellar! Natasha the bar tender is amazing and was super friendly and sweet, Emma the cashier was very friendly as well when we were at the salsa bar she was friendly and personable, both girls were smiling and putting out just positive vibes in general, we come here often and the staff is a big part of that, Natasha is definitely my favorite bartender so far and was super helpful with drink choices and had a great familiarity with the menu and everything on it. I ordered their "special" of the chicken tortilla soup. I didn't feel quite right in the middle of consuming it, but kept eating it anyway. An hour after consuming this I started to get sick, which was followed by me throwing up at least four times back in my hotel room. Once I got all of the tortilla soup out I started to feel better....if you ever go here I do not recommend getting their tortilla soup. Something is seriously wrong with it. Love love love this place! Not only is Jose a nice guy, he makes crazy good salsas! Mild to hot so there is something for everyone. We originally stopped in because we have bought the salsa at our local farmers market before and had no idea there was a restaurant. Score! The tamales are superb- my favorite is the veggie one which has spinach and cheese and is soooooo yummy!!! The menu is small and simple and allows the salsa bar the be the main star- but everything we have tried from the menu has been awesome! They have two delicious salads too that are big and filling. We went here with great expectations. We ordered veggies tacos and got some grilled veggies in a tortilla. There was no cheese, no salsa or anything else. The veggie quesadilla was cheese only. Nachos were also bland and hard. In conclusion, this place doesn't deserve 4 stars. Not a great place for vegetarians. read more

The tacos are a bit pricey but also HUGE. I had two fish tacos which was one too many for a tiny person. One fish taco is plenty. Also, it would be really nice if the fish wasn't battered and fried. :-/ I know many places do this with their fish tacos but I don't know why! Seared or grilled fish would've been better in my opinion. I guess frying is easier and makes things look/feel fuller? The slaw on top of the taco was DELICIOUS. All tacos come with chips. The salsa bar (yes...SALSA BAR) was pretty cool. The server was very nice, everything was super fast, and the bathroom was really clean! Jose's never disappoints! We are thrilled they expanded into a bar and are now open later. This is literally the only place to eat on a Monday night (because the town practically shuts down otherwise) or any time for that matter because it's so good and affordable! They've kept the menu simple: tacos, tamales, and burritos and good for them-it really helps to salsa bar shine, which is truly what it's all about here. The price of admission is just a few tacos and you're in the door and have a vessel to shovel many salsa varieties in your mouth. Great place. Limited menu - tacos, burritos, tamales and a few other things. The large variety of salsas was tremendous. Great selection of spicy and mild salsas - on the warm side though. I had the spicy ones and my tongue started burning quick. The mild ones had less heat but not plain at all. The burritos and tamales are not "wet" so you would have to put salsa on them if you like them that way. You order by the each - no combos with beans, rice, etc. The tamales were way above average - definitely good. The tacos were stuffed with meat but no cheese or anything else. My wife had the carne asada taco and the meat was some of the best we have had anywhere. They were out of the spinach tamale which must be pretty popular. Next time. Very casual. TV with sports behind the big bar. A few tables on the sidewalk. Good prices for happy hour bar margaritas but we had there version of a cadillac and had two each. We are real fussy about our margos and these were very good. Not cheap but good. With one taco and one tamale each it was more food than we wanted. Chips come with the orders but we asked for some before to enjoy with our first margo. Not the highest on ambience but it was clean and the service was excellent. read more

I was not impressed at all with the meal today. I had the pork burrito and it was tasteless and the tortilla was rubbery. Probably the worst burrito I have ever had. My partner had a couple tamales and said they had too much masa and no flavor. We love Mexican food and have lived in central Mexico for 20 years and Jose's did not satisfy our craving at all. This place was actually very underwhelming. It was close to closing when we got there but the computers didn't work and it took a lot of work just to get our order in. Then there were even mistakes in what originally came out. The salsa on the bar was very good and gave the food much needed flavor. The servers and workers in the establishment were not even very friendly. I would probably not return. read more
