Just dined at Las Palomas for the first time an hour ago. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent! We had the Burrito Supreme Carne Asada. So delicious and generous servings. This place was wonderful. One guy managing all of front of house. And only a couple folks back of house in the kitchen, that we could tell. Everything we ordered was divine, a perfect blend of flavors, nothing too spicy (that was fine with us). I can't really describe it but you just know when you are eating really good Mexican food. Large menu that includes dishes you might not normally see or even know are Mexican. Very good service. Interesting decor - spent a lot of time looking at all of the decorations. We ordered the machaca, which was a big hit with my husband; and the chicken mole' which was a delight - so smooth. read more

We opted to try Las Palomas tonight here in Sequim. While it was easy access and many were locals, we found the food only to be "ok", part of our order was wrong (ordered beef fajitas NOT chicken and was shocked with the cost of only an "average" Strawberry Margarita ($17.95 due to $2 added for using strawberries!). After hearing our server boast they were closing for a few weeks to go to Mexico for vacation we deduced that they may have e deliberately served chicken to eliminate waste while on travel! High points-salsa was good, service ok, parking ample and chicken version tasty! We think this was truly an off nite! read more

Decent Mexican joint next to the Red Lion in Sequim. It was decorated in standard Mexican restaurant flair. The service was efficient and prompt. Our server was very nice. The food came out quick. I had the Supreme Asada burrito. It was good. The burrito was covered in sauce and the ingredients were mixed well inside. My one knock is there was an up charge on the bill for the Asada steak. That was NOT mentioned. I mean the title and description said steak. Then the up charge? What if I didn't opt for the up charge? Would the burrito come with no meat inside? The price was already close to $20 without the up charge. In the end I guess it didn't matter but don't hide charges from your clientele. read more

I was on my way to Sequim to stay at the casino and hotel for a couple of days last weekend. My room wasn't ready when I arrived so I went into town and decided to have a late lunch. I Googled nearby Mexican restaurant and this one came up and was only a few miles away. The restaurant is nice because there is ample parking. The workers are some of the nicest people that I've met anywhere. And, the menu has something for everyone on it whether you like Mexican food or not. Ir is a decent restaurant in terms of ambience but feels like it has been around for quite some time. It did not have that fresh, well-kept appeal but it wasn't bad as far as cleanliness and all. Of course the meal started with chips and salsa but they not the most fresh chips. And the salsa was a bit watery with a sweet flavor. My preference is a salsa that has at least a bit of a kick and not sugary. The person who waited on me was very helpful with suggestions as to what on the menu was more popular with their customers. She gave me three choices that she thought I might enjoy of which I chose the fajita burrito. It came with rice and beans as usual. And those two items were very basic. They did not feel like there was any extraordinary effort put into making the beans or rice special. The burrito was okay. I liked the filling of meat, onion, beans, red and green peppers, etc. However, when it comes to fajitas I admit I much prefer a sizzling plate. Food and service are good, but the prices are out of control. $18 for a burrito! Imagine that? $5 for a coke or tea. Don't ask for sour cream, you can buy a container in the store for less. Two of us ordered shrimp fajitas and a taco salad. The taco salad was served in a weird shell, but my friend said it tasted all right. My fajitas were OK, too. We were waiting to be seated and there wasn't a hostess in sight. After standing around, my friend walked over to the bar and came back, saying we could sit in there. The waitress snapped at a table with a few people that were being a bit loud, telling them to leave or go outside. I don't know if she knew them, but that wasn't cool regardless. read more

I used to love coming here. They had the best wet burritos. Came here on a Thursday after soccer with the kids. We waited close to 2 hrs for the food. Plates came staggered like 14 mins. Chile relleno was cold. Not sure what shifted maybe just an off day. read more

We came in with a party of 11, it took 30 minutes to get menus, we finally got to order after 45 minutes. After waiting an hour and a half for food we paid for our drinks and left. The food was absolutely terrible. There was no flavor whatsoever. I felt like the ingredients were great but they don't know how to use salt or any other seasoning. I didn't finish anything I ordered. One bite and I was upset that I had even walked in the door. The only positive was the nice outdoor patio to sit and enjoy a beer. Locals also seem to have priority, we ordered before 2 other tables and they got their food a good 10 minutes before us. Luckily we don't live here and would never come back. The staff was very polite and service was great. However my husband got food poisoning. The food just didn't taste right. My husband started vomiting just hours after eating here. Our group of four went to Las Palomas as we were all craving Mexican food. We arrived at about 5:15pm on a Saturday night (3/4/23). The restaurant was busy but not packed. Plenty of open tables in view. We stood in the lobby for almost 15 minutes. Not one waitress, bus-person, hostess, cook, etc. even acknowledged us. It was pretty awkward. In fact, all different manner of staff scurried back and forth past us, all the while carefully avoiding eye-contact. A simple "I'm sorry, someone will be right with you" from any of them would have been great. But nothing. Several other groups were now in queue behind us. Finally we were seated and the wait begins again... no water or chips & salsa for about 10 minutes. Just sitting at an empty table waiting for anything. We finally flagged down a gal who was bussing tables and asked her to please get us some water and chips. She did. The basket was small for 4 people (as other reviewers have pointed out) and we consumed it within 5 minutes. Another 5-10 minutes pass (we have now been in the restaurant for OVER 30 minutes) and still no waiter/waitress. I've only done this a couple of times in my life, but I said to our group "Should we just leave?". Everyone agreed and we all got up and left. The whole time we were there, other folks kept arriving and we could see they were experiencing the same. I understand a restaurant being short-staffed. Perhaps someone called in sick or quit that day? It happens. But it is pretty basic etiquette to greet your patrons and let them know you'll be with them as soon as possible - perhaps even letting them know you are short-staffed. We may try again in the future, but this first experience was pretty bad. read more

Popped in here to kill some time while our hotel room was being prepared for check in. We only had an appetizer (stuffed jalapeños) and the margaritas. It was ok but not great. Perfect experience, all around. We ended up at Las Palomas after ditching two other restaurants. The service was very friendly and attentive, the food was fabuloso and reasonable cost-wise, and the margarita...YUM! Stayed next door at the hotel and decided to go for dinner. It has a great small business appeal with festive decoration and great staff. Everyone was super friendly and nice even when we needed more time to decide on our order. The chips and salsa were great and the queso was spicy and hit the spot. Just passing through Sequim WA my family decided to stop in for a bite to eat. They had plenty of cars in the parking lot so we thought it was a safe bet. The interior was fine but a little dated but was ok for my hungry fam. We were seated and brought some chips and salsa. The basket of chips was pretty small for 2 adults and 2 older teenagers but the salsa was yummy. Could've even been a little spicier. Unfortunately, I could tell the oil the chips were fried in was either old or burnt. It had that aftertaste that wasn't great. But we were hungry so we ate them (the salsa made up for it I guess). The main reason for this is review is the wait time to get our food. Once we ordered it took quite a while. I wished I would've timed it. But having gone to plenty of Mexican restaurants, this was one of the slowest. So slow to where I contemplated leaving and I'm pretty patient normally. I also overheard a group of people beside us say how they were going to get full in chips before they got their food. Luckily our food finally arrived and there were highlights and lowlights. I thought my Mexican prawns were tasty and one of the kids enjoyed his loco burrito. But my daughter and I both agreed the carne Asada lacked flavor and char which is quintessential for that dish (I added salt which I never do). My husband liked his Carne Asada burrito but also said he has had tastier. And my daughter (who looks for places with food rice) thought this rice was a little bland. It is totally possible that they were short staffed but I would've gotten over the wait time if the food was more memorable. Overall this is an ok place that had plenty of business but just wasn't the burst of flavor or excitement we were hoping for. read more

Many years ago, when I was new to yelp, I wrote a positive review for Las Palomas -- not understanding where the negative reviews came from. We have been here dozens of times and the food has been consistently good. Until today. New servers and new people working in the kitchen -- it looks like maybe they are under new management? Same menu as before but the food is absolutely not the same (not nearly as good). Portion size on the steak quesadilla was cut in half as well. A separate order of carne asada was not as high quality as it was before. The guacamole was literally some smashed up avocado, not the high-end muy delicioso stuff they served before. Either the cook and the regular staff are all on vacation somewhere, or they've apparently sold the place to some folks who don't know what they're doing. It's very sad because we are moving out of state and were hoping to get one last taste of the las palomas we've fallen in love with over the years -- but alas, it was not meant to be. Unless they fix the food (and do it very fast) I don't expect them to stay in business.... read more

Las Paloma's is a friendly neighborhood restaurant. The salsa is excellent and addictive, if mild. I had Chile Colorado and my husband had the special fish tacos. Both dishes were very good, cooked well and flavorful. The real boon at this restaurant is the staff and service is though. The ladies there really took care of us, even making me a special recipe drink to help me feel better ( I was dealing with allergies). We were doted on and cared for as if we were with family. We will definitely be back next time we're in Sequim! read more

This restaurant is out-of-the-way towards the east end of Washington. Much bigger inside then it looks. The menu is quite extensive and they do offer a full bar. We were brought chips and water right away but the service was slow because there was one poor waitress for three large rooms. She was extremely nice and apologetic. But the restaurant seemed to be understaffed. We ordered a burrito, a chili reyeno plate, Carnitas tacos, and a salad. We also ordered the Cadillac margaritas and a beer. The food was very good. Went there on a recommendation from a friend for Mom's 72nd birthday dinner. The food was terrible and the service was even worse. Had the jalapeño poppers and chicken and steak fajitas. The decor was tacky and there was no mariachi music playing, only the boisterous sounds of the staff apparently having a great time while we waited what seemed like an eternity for our food. The restrooms were not clean. This is not Mexican food!!!!! The salsa is like ketchup. My "taco" had an oversized tortilla with very little chicken. The tortilla was barely warmed. Y'all seem to forget that restaurants cater to the people they serve and it is in the middle of a northern area. They probably got complaints of the food being too spicy if you really think about it. And y'all forget that a pandemic hit - hitting small businesses hard. Naturally they will be short staffed. read more
