We were in the area and were craving Mexican food so we decided to stop here. We got a shrimp cocktail, steak enchiladas, and a breakfast burrito with machaca. The food was all pretty tasty; the steak was cooked just right, and the breakfast burrito was super flavorful. The shrimp cocktail was alright; I thought it was a bit too thick and sweet, to be honest. The service wasn't bad at all, though I did wish they'd checked in with us a tad more often about refills. Super disappointed with Jorge's today... We used to come here all the time and it was always good. Thats really why I'm giving it two stars instead of one. Tonight it took forever to seat us, service was slow, the margarita was straight mixer. Steak taco was dry, chewy and tasteless. Rice and beans both were dry and tasted like they'd been sitting out for a while. Food and drink gave me a headache and stomach ache. I might give it some time and give it another shot because we really used to come here a lot. There's clearly new ownership here, and unfortunately, the difference shows. Our waitress had an attitude from the start. When I found a hair on my plate and brought it to her attention, she looked at me like, "What do you want me to do?"--no urgency, no accountability. It was uncomfortable and honestly disappointing. She was also very disrespectful to my aunt and her friend. To make matters worse, my aunt's friend--who just happened be there joined us--was automatically charged gratuity. When questioned, the waitress said, "Sorry, but I'm still going to charge you." A manager came over and still stood by that decision, even though we all know it could have been adjusted. Very unfortunate, because I've been coming here for years and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Even the tortilla chips tasted like they came straight out of a bulk bag from Costco. To the young lady--please don't represent your generation with this level of customer service. And to the manager--don't encourage it, because it showed that this behavior is acceptable. If being a waitress or managing/owning a restaurant isn't for you, that's okay--find something that fits you better. But for those of us who have supported this place for years, this experience was extremely disappointing. Please do better and make the previous owners proud. read more

I ordered a super carne asada burrito, wet style, and yes -- this thing is huge. For $14, you definitely get your money's worth in size. However, the reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the meat was just not it this time -- very chewy, tough, and overly salty. The burrito overall was on the dry side, too. There was barely any sour cream, and the pico de gallo was minimal, so it didn't really balance things out. I've been coming to Jorge El Tapatio for years -- over 20 years living in Tracy, this has always been one of my go-to taquerias. But this review is only for this experience. Maybe it was just an off day, but this particular burrito was really mediocre in flavor. If you do get a super burrito, just know it's going to be massive, but you might want to grab some extra Tapatio or salsa if you're taking it to go. Jorge's El Topatio is a very nice Mexican restaurant in Tracy. The service was great. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The decor is Hispanic with a large display of rare and uncommon liquor bottles. They have a bar that serves classic cocktails. All food selections we ordered were excellent. One item I wish they would include would be tamales. With great service and delicious Mexican meals, our experience at El Tapatio was wonderful. Whenever we are in Tracy, we always stop in here. Friday evening dinner was great - shrimp soup and shrimp taco salad. The soup ended up a little spicy (adding jalapenos was the source) but lots of shrimp in the soup. The service here is really friendly. We had not been here in quite a long time. We arrived early for a Friday night and were seated promptly. We were waited on by a friendly waitress. She took our drink order and brought us chips and salsa. The salsa had a little zing to it, but was not the usual red tomato based salsa. The chips were not the best quality but were crispy. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and the vegetable fajitas. Everything was delicious. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. I ate the whole thing! We finished in one hour and walked out to find lots of people waiting to be seated. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food. We would definitely return. read more

After taking care of taxes and checkin out the farmer's market, we checked out @jorges_el_tapatio_tracy. I asked a local where a good spot was and she gave us a couple of leads to check out in Tracy. We chose Jorge's and glad we did. Spacious spot with great drinks and service! I ordered the Cazuela. It came out in a nicely sized decorative BOWL with ample amounts of tequila, lime, orange, grapefruit, and Squirt. Yezzirr!!! Salsa & chips were bomb, as well as our tasty comida. I came for their Fri night mariachi during Mexican Independence Day weekend. I made a reservation and the mariachi were set-up in the room w/the bar and that's where they stayed for the 2 hours. Food was good. Beans and rice were good. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Luckily there was a birthday going on and the group had booked the mariachi and were requesting all the songs, so it was a treat to hear them play while we dined. It was a 6 member group and they charged $30/song requested. That is quite steep tbh. The server had told us $20 so I'm glad we asked the group first. We requested 2 songs, the first which they did NOT sing, and that was disappointing when you're paying $30 for the song, and the lyrics are beautiful. We didn't think we needed to explicitly ask them to sing it since they were singing every single song for the birthday group. Why would ours be different? For our 2nd song, we asked them to sing it and they did. The group had 2 trumpet players which is always a good sign. But after hearing them play, I'm not sure I would hire them for $800/hr. (minimum 2 hours). The furniture in the room seems outdated. The food is good though. read more

Bad experience at this restaurant, the food was watered down horrible and so was the service. The unforgiving broke manager/owner was quick to charge my card after a small complain about their fried fish. I'm super disappointed in this place. My family and I used to love it here! Unfortunately the last time we got takeout and the meat was just really too salty that we tossed the food away. Well we went back tonight to give it another try and this place failed even worse. One in our party of 6 ordered a shrimp burrito without sour cream inside (the person is allergic to sour cream) and unfortunately the burrito came with sour cream. After bringing it to the attention of the waiter, they had no problem remaking it but they had ran out of el pastor so it had to get switched to another option. After receiving the now shrimp burrito, a hair was on the plate under all the lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers. I'm super disappointed in this place for the quality of food and lack of quality in sanitation. Another person in the party got the chile verde and said it wasn't that good. So the reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because the food has consistently been good for quite a long time, but the last two times have been subpar. We came to El Tapatio Tuesday night the 29th for a late dinner following my sons football pictures in Mountain House. They're one of the only restaurants that stays open until 9 pm, almost all the restaurants in Tracy close at 8 pm on weeknights. The food & service both were excellent. I had the Flautas dinner plate, my wife a combo 2 item plate, & my son a burrito. The burrito was huge. It was bigger than most places super burrito's. Their menu is huge, it has countless options on it. Add to your list of staples A good place to come when you don't know where else to go, frozen margs always hit. Chips, salsa, and decent food at a decent price. Been coming to Jorge's for years. It was one of the first places I tried when I moved to Tracy a few years back and soon became my FAVORITE place to get Pozole! Anytime I'm in the area I always make it a necessity to stop by and pick me up some pozole. That's not all that's good. Their burritos are great. The tacos are flavorful. I recently on Mothers Day had the Camarones A La Diabla. Man they were good! The right amount of spice and flavor! It wasn't bitter like some places. Their rice and beans are authentic Mexican food. I warn you! I did order a Michelada but not to drink.. I just wanted the shrimps and cucumber and Tajin they put around the rim and I made my mom drink mine and hers. BUT.. to my surprise allll the powder on the shrimp of the Michelada was NOT Tajin it was some spicy ass cayenne or chili powder that they put on the fruta you get from the elote man. So I nearly died when I put that one shrimp in my mouth. I couldn't cook myself down for almost 15 mins! I like spicy foods and sauces but that powder fu*ked me up bad. I couldn't even enjoy my food the way I wanted so I took most of it home and just filled up on tortilla chips. The waitress are nice and check on you frequently which is appreciated. Stopped here on the way to the central valley; picked it because it was a locally owned spot, and we felt like some Mexican food. Number one good sign that this was a great place: a police car in the parking lot! First, excellent service. We were seated promptly, even though it was the noon hour. This place looks small, but is deceptive: it's very large and has spacious seating for a number of people. It has a full bar. They have all kinds of items on the menus from appetizers, to specialty dishes, tacos, enchiladas, Seafood, seafood cocktails, chicken dishes, and the normal combination dishes of tacos, enchiladas, Chille rellenos, etc. I chose tacos Al Pastor. It's one of my favorites. They did also have enchiladas de Molé also another favorite. I'm so glad I chose the tacos Al Pastor. Hands-down, Jorge's receives my number one in California vote for tacos Al Pastor. I have tried tacos Al Pastor, at every Mexican place across the state that I have dined in and this place wins my top vote. They were absolutely delicious and succulent. First, they do not serve the tacos on the tiny small Tortillas that you get on street tacos. They were regular size dinner tacos about 6 inches in diameter. The meat was absolutely deliciously well seasoned. The menu describes them as being seasoned with marinated with chilies, pineapple, herbs, and spices. Well, whatever they're doing it's absolutely magical. It is fantastic and succulent, rich tasting. Of course they are topped with the requisite, cilantro, onions And some hot salsa. Note here the salsa which they serve with the chips at the beginning of the meal as a starter is very hot. I usually enjoy a fairly hot salsa, but this is no salsa for the faint hearted. It is not a mild red salsa that you might normally get. It definitely packs a punch, so just be mindful of that. My companion Had a green chili Verde or just a green enchilada with shredded beef that he said was absolutely delicious. I know it was delicious because he vacuumed up his dish more quickly than I did. And he usually talks all through the meal and is the last to finish, any dish! I wish I could've tried five other dishes like Pollo and Molé, poblano, or one of the fish dishes or a soup, but unfortunately, one only has so much room in one's tummy. If you get to Tracy on your way to and from the Bay Area and Central Valley, do come through and go to Jorge's El Tapatio on 11th St. It is not too far off of Highway 205 and a quick stop with their fast service, bright and friendly smiles, and not to be missed Mexican food. I did speak to the chef and gave him my compliments too. A really sweet guy who definitely knows his business. Hats off to Jorge's! read more

I used to live in Tracy and this restaurant was my favorite restaurant at all times. I was always going to this Mexican restaurant while I was living in Tracy for over 10 years. I was not a yelper back then. Two years later, I was visiting friends in Tracy for business and I went there for lunch. Omg!!!!!! Nothing has changed last time I was there. Great hosting, serving and food. If you are seafood lovers like me, I highly suggest you to order 7 seafood soup. This restaurant uses best of the best ingredients. You will see king crabs, prawns, scallops, octopus, fish, squids,mussels and big shell clams. I couldn't finish my soup. The broth was un describable and exquisite. This restaurant is huge inside and very authentic, also upscale atmosphere. I always have great service every time I go there. I assume the chef is still the same as 5-10 years. This location is beautiful and offers plenty of space for large gatherings. The customer service is selective and the waitresses seem to cater to more of the Spanish speaking customers than English. Food is not great but the chips and salsa are delicious. Staffing levels seem to impact the mood of the servers. You can expect a 15-20 min wait even if theirs hardly anyone in the dinning area.
