Had a great experience at Bistro 135 the other night. The atmosphere was welcoming, the place felt clean and comfortable, and the service was friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in. It's the kind of local spot that makes you want to come back and try more of the menu. I ordered one of their burgers, and overall it had really good flavor with fresh toppings and a nicely toasted bun. The only small downside was that the burger itself was a little on the dry side. It didn't take away from the meal completely, but with just a bit more juiciness it would have been excellent. Aside from that, everything else about the visit was enjoyable. The staff was great and the overall vibe made it a nice place to sit back and relax with a good meal. On my first visit I was impressed. We were warmly greeted on our arrival and were thanked for coming as we departed. My friend ordered chicken wings (appetizer) and a Manhattan drink. My wife & I recently took her parents out to brunch to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. My wife made the reservation a week in advance. We had a difficult time choosing from the menu, as there were many wonderful options. I ended up with the Power Couple, which is their version of steak and eggs, using hanger steak topped with a spicy chimichurri along with crispy fingerling potatoes. My wife ordered the Porky Farina, which is a savory cream of wheat topped with peril, bacon and onions. I also ordered a side of hot honey bacon for the table to share. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the chimichurri offered a nice kick (but not too spicy). My wife enjoyed her meal, though it was on the heavier side and she took half home for breakfast the next day. After brunch, we shared a dessert among the four of us. As it was my MIL birthday, they offered a complimentary glass of champagne or a dessert. As she doesn't drink much alcohol, she chose the apple crisp dessert, which came hot from the oven. A perfect way to end the meal All in all, we had a wonderful experience. The service was very good, and the table had a cute touch-enabled electric candle. If you wanted service or the bill, just touch the candle to change the color to notify the staff. It's an elegant way to get their attention. I recently tried the tomato bisque. I was expecting creamy. It was anything but. It was intensely tomato. Think we'll seasoned tomato puree. I was glad I only ordered a cup. A bowl would have been too much. I ate about 3/4 of it. It paired really well with the garlic bread my Mocktail tasted like a complex peach ice tea. Not bad. I wanted dessert, but found the soup and bread to be quite filling. Nice staff as usual. Don't recommend the dish, but still love the atmosphere. read more

I went w family at 1130 and did not leave until close to 200. They were understaffed and took half hour for coffee and had to ask twice for a cup. Then after a hour and a half the meal came my toast was burned and cold and then the poached egg on top was cold and the arugula under the egg had no flavor. It was the worst meal in ten years. For four adults and two kids the meal came to 160. And tip 30. And this is the food and service I received. I was shocked that they asked this much for such bad food and service and I would have been better off at a deli. My friend's meal also was cold and really poor the Harvest which had mostly greens. So crazy anyway. It was noisy and loud a small room the only good thing was the decor and table cloths and lighting just beautiful. There have been so many new restaurants opening up in my hometown of Tracy. It's sometimes difficult to decide whether to go to a tried-and-true favorite or try a new place. Well, I hadn't been to Bistro 135 in years. They had a refresh, so I was essentially trying a new place. And a refresh it was! I remember the place having farmhouse/woodsy vibes. But now it's sleek and modern with a black and gold color scheme. And the lights on the table aren't just for ambiance, but are functional. It's color coded depending if you need assistance or are ready to pay. I love it when decor also has a purpose more than just being pretty. My family and I were there for brunch and the options match the decadent decor. I got the Dream Team, which is their chicken and waffles. But it's more than that - the waffles had bacon and plantains in the batter. It was served with a side of spicy maple syrup and their house hot sauce. The portions were huge! I was able to finish the two pieces of chicken thighs, which were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. But I couldn't finish the waffle. I had in my mind that the plantains would be sweet, but they weren't so I couldn't discern it from the rest of the waffle. It was still good, though. The sweetness from the maple syrup was all the sugar I needed. And I liked that it had a kick, which you can amp up with their hot sauce, which tasted like Frank's Red Hot Sauce. My mom got the chilaquiles, which also was a large portion. The salsa roja had just enough heat and the chips were crunchy. My dad got the omelette of the day, which came with spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, and a side of couscous salad. It looked small against our gigantic dishes, but the portion was just right as the omelette was filled. The couscous salad was delightfully vinegary and the arugula wasn't bitter at all. We also ordered the BEC empanadillas, which were small breakfast empanadas with bacon, egg, and cheese served with hot honey. They were delicious- crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside from the fluffy eggs. And the hot honey added a slight sweet heat. And the drinks were also good! I got the Citrus Squeeze that had blood orange and lemon. It was citrusy with a bit of tartness. My dad a cucumber coconut mocktail that was so refreshing. And the dessert was amazing! My dad loves tiramisu and he thought it was on the menu. He had misread that it was a cocktail. But our server suggested the tres leches cake that had a mocha base. When she left to place the order, I commented on whether there was a recipe for a tiramisu tres leches cake. The tres leches cake tasted what I imagined would be a tiramisu tres leches cake thanks to that mocha based. I don't even like tiramisu, but I would order this cake again because the flavors and textures were so good. The mocha wasn't overpowering nor too sweet. Though I prefer a wetter tres leches, the crumb on this one was just right. And service was fantastic! Our server explained their new concept and was attentive despite how busy it was. Because I grew up in a time where Tracy was still a small town, I get taken aback sometimes when I see Bay Area prices at restaurants. But the food was delicious with generous portions and the staff were fantastic. If we want nice restaurant options in Tracy, then we have to support business like this one that provide substance and style. And I also have to remember Tracy isn't so small anymore. And we deserve a downtown with a good mix of retail and restaurants at all price points. read more

We went on Valentine's Day weekend hoping to try the scallops, but they weren't available due to the limited menu. I'm a pescatarian with a citrus allergy, so I made it very clear that I could not have lemon in my drink or my shrimp scampi. My drink arrived garnished with a dried orange and had to be remade. When the scampi came out, it also tasted like lemon and had to be sent back. The remade dish came out noticeably smaller, which was disappointing. The risotto ball appetizer was genuinely great -- the best part of the meal. However, having to repeatedly address a citrus allergy and then receiving a reduced portion left a bad impression. The manager discounted 20% off the drink -- about $3 on a $105 bill -- which felt more like a formality than a real resolution. Busy holiday or not, food allergies should be taken seriously. My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and we were so impressed! The restaurant is aesthetic and elegant inside. I loved how well decorated it was. It was just my vibe! The food was amazing. I had the creamy chicken pasta.. and YUM. It was rich, full of flavor, and a good portion (i even took home left overs). Our waitress was really friendly and made the experience even better. I learned about this place on Instagram and my family finally made it out to check it out. We had a few appetizers, tasty drinks and the garlic shrimp and steak mofongo. Not too bad. I suggest setting up a reservation before going because they were going to seat us outside at first. They had a DJ when we were there Saturday night. Thank you SO MUCH for doing that; for our daughter to be able to be herself at her own volume, and eat her safe foods while Mom and Dad get to eat was a blessing. I was charged $75 for a steak that was priced $50 on the menu. I feel the price of the steak listed on the menu should have been reflected on the bill. Very disappointing first experience at Bistro 135 in Tracy. We arrived at 2:30 PM, and there was a server outside trying to close the sliding door who didn't acknowledge us at all. We had to greet him ourselves and ask if we could be seated. He told us to wait and mentioned there should be a hostess at the front, so we walked to the front door and stood there for several minutes because no hostess was present. After the hostess finally saw us and seated us, the same server immediately came back and told us the kitchen had already closed at 2:30 and they could not serve us, essentially asking us to leave. This was confusing and very unprofessional, especially since the restaurant's posted hours say it closes at 3:00 PM. If the kitchen closes earlier than the restaurant hours, that should be clearly communicated before seating guests. The lack of acknowledgment, communication, and basic customer service left a very poor first impression. read more

Driving from the Bay Area to the central Valley, we discovered bistro 135 scrolling through yelp looking for a place to stop for dinner. We got a reservation but arrived a little early so we sat at the bar waiting for a table. It was so pleasant sitting at the bar that we canceled our table reservation and decided to eat there. Kennedy, our bartender was so sweet and so good at her job! Let me just tell you she makes a divine pineapple jalapeño margarita! We couldn't decide what we wanted off the menu so we ordered a variety of appetizers just to try several of them since we have never been there. We had the ribs and we had two different kinds of spring rolls, we got the shrimp and everything was pretty good. If we're ever driving through Tracy and needing a place to stop for food and we will be back to Bistro 135. read more

We arrived early at 7:15pm for our 7:30pm reservation. We were sat at 7:45pm, and was quite hungry by this point considering another couple showed up after us, yet were sat before us. The mac was piping hot and tasty, and a bit spicy. I would get it again. I honestly could've been full with just the mac and the bread and my drink, and skipped the entree. They were out of the protein for the risotto, so I picked the sirloin steak. It was cooked as requested but was a bit salty. The risotto was cheesy and generous portion. The bread was good, per usual. I took my dish to-go bc it was just too much food. My non-alcoholic beverage was tasty. We've had the same server a few times. Service was okay, but could've been better. Definitely make a reservation otherwise you may possibly snag a spot at the bar or wait a while. Ordered 2 Chicken Picattas but were told they were out of the smashed potatoes and instead offered fingerling potato. Chicken was dry and rubbery, decided to send it back and close the tab. Spoke to some other patrons on the way out and they told us just to stick to the appetizers, that the entrees are average at best. My last complaint is that they don't serve a regular steak. My daughter lives 3 hours away, so Tracy is a perfect "meet in the middle" spot. I always prefer to give a small business my support vs go to a big chain restaurant. I decided that we would try Bistro 135 for the first time on Mother's Day. The decor is really beautiful, clean and modern. They had a cute little balloon photo opp area set up for the families. The owners and staff are very friendly. The menu was creative and the food was delicious. Had a few hiccups with our waitress and the timing of food coming out but the restaurant manager explained that unfortunately multiple staff members called out last minute, hence the little mistakes here and there. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the management/owners were very kind and caring people, so I'm looking forward to future meals with my daughter at this establishment. read more

My chicken was raw ,veiny and the sandwich "bread"? Was super crumbly. Ruined appetite. What's being advertised on yelp is completely different from what you're getting inside. The food was excellent. Not sure why this is listed as an Italian restaurant; while they have some Italian items, it is a Puerto Rican restaurant and I recommend you try those items. We had the empanadillas, mofongo, pernil, and stew. Service was warm, friendly, and appropriately attentive. I rate them a five because everything was so good. However.... I ordered the ribeye and shrimp mofongo. While I've never had mofongo before, every time I see it on cooking shows the plaintain bananas are served either in a mound or smashed flat under the rest of the meal. I didn't see it at all. Being new to the cuisine, I thought perhaps the restaurant was serving it as bits of plaintain in the sauce.....and I didn't say anything or ask (my bad!). But I wasn't detecting it. So I googled the restaurant's menu item once I got home and found a photo of it -- and the shrimp are sitting on a mound of the plaintains. They clearly forgot to get that on the plate. I am positive that if I had asked about it they would have made it right -- and mistakes do happen. Having said that -- the shrimp and ribeye were cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing. We don't live in or near Tracy, but we would definitely go back to Bistro 135 if/when we return. read more

Yesterday was Easter Sunday and we made reservations at Bistro 135 for 2:00 pm, for 5 people. This was our first time dining there. We arrived at 1:55 and were seated right away. They brought us water and about 5 minutes later, our waiter arrived to take our order. An hour later (3:00) we were still waiting for our food. Finally at 3:10 they brought our food out. We were a bit upset but the food was delicious. Then the manager came and apologized for our long wait and not only comped the entire meal but gave us a $50 gift card to come back again.
