I come in 2-3 times week when staying in Tracy (hopefully I haven't worn out my welcome there LOL). Food has been on par almost every time I've eaten/gotten take out. My go to are definitely the avocado egg rolls, pot stickers, mini pizza, burger sliders from the appetizer menu as well as their sauced boneless wings and fish n chips entree. Service is the best there. It's usually Brooke working the bar when I go in and she has always treated me well since I've been going. She's fast, she knows what I like to drink and constantly checks to see if I have everything I need. The rest of the staff is solid too (Nico, Ronaldo, Jocelyn, Henny). Even the managers take the time to say hello. The ambiance is usually pretty relaxed and cozy when I come in during their late night happy hour, which is what I prefer. There have been times I've been here during the dinner rush and on game days where it can get loud and hectic, but I see the staff working hard to keep up. I appreciate the staff there. Sad to say that I had to lower my rating after my most recent visit. I came around dinner time so there was a wait. It was almost an hour, which isn't too bad. My hubby and I asked for water as our drinks, which had black specks inside. We asked for new water, which was thankfully clean this time. Our waitress kindly double checked to make sure. Then our food came, which tasted decent but we never got any utensils so we asked for that. Unfortunately, they came dirty and I didn't want to bother our waitress again so I used the water and cloth to clean our forks. We were also never offered any water refills throughout our meal and it was hard to flag down any other waiters as they weren't near our table. We ordered a side of sweet potato fries, which came unseasoned and was such a small plate for $7. So overpriced! I come here by myself a lot of the time. I have never had such bad service as I had today. I came here happy ready to unlimited soup and salad and that didn't happen. It a span of one hour I received one soup and two salads. Two salads and she kept on skipping on the drink even though she did see that I needed a drink! The salads were coming out timed at the 25 minute mark. She also waited 20 plus minutes to tell me that the clam chowder wasn't available and they just put it down! Really wasted an entire hour of my life! In N out would have been a better option at this point! Oh and this place isn't packed at all! This location is right off Naglee road near all the other chain restaurants, Target, the Mall, movie theater, and right near the Grant Line west bound freeway exit. BJ's is a nice restaurant with tons of choices and a unique style for a chain. The brewery feel & deep menu set it apart in a lot of ways from other chain restaurants. Their beer selection is deep, & it has many great choices to choose from too. They've also got a lot of awesome food items. Our go to is the avocado rolls for appetizer for sure. Then for lunch or dinner there's a huge amount to choose from. You can get custom thin crust or deep dish pizzas, burgers, pastas, salads, etc. The fried chicken dish is one of my favorites. Of course you can't leave here without ordering a pizookie. My daughter likes the triple chocolate chip one, with chocolate ice cream. What's cool is they let you pick vanilla or chocolate for the ice cream on top of the pizookie. We'll keep coming to BJ's to eat or get takeout. read more

I visited BJ's today and... it was okay. We started with the avocado egg rolls and WOW, those were sooo good. Definitely one of my favorites and the clear winner of the appetizers. For entrées, we ordered the shrimp Alfredo, boneless wings, and shrimp tacos. Unfortunately, the Alfredo was a huge letdown. It had absolutely no flavor and we ended up sending it back. The shrimp tacos were decent, but there was way more cabbage and toppings than shrimp. The boneless wings were fine, nothing special. The real highlight of the night? The pizookies. Fairly new Bjs in town and the ambience was very cute and cozy. Smaller than the other ones I been to. Service was good . Got mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, good portion to share. My kids ordered the chicken strips, deep dish pepperoni and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was mediocre feel like it's something I can do at home. The other two were good. Finally tried BJ's in Tracy and was quite pleased! First, our server was super helpful and kind, helping me with a gluten-free menu (their menu is gluten-sensitive which is common for restaurants that aren't dedicated GF). I ordered a thin crust GF pizza and was able to make it half pepperoni half chicken bbq. It was a simple 5/10 -- not as good as going to a dedicated pizza place. The cream soda was delicious and of course I ended the meal with a GF pizookie (also delicious!). The environment is clean, modern, and spacious. I would think since this place is brand new within a year now they would have it together already. But I guess I was expecting it too much. I had a party of 10 and the staff here was not attentive nor even accommodating to my party. We waited almost 2 hrs for our table for a party of 10. There was 2 tables for party of 8 and 1 new party of 7 swoops in and took the table. I asked the host what's taking so long and there's 2 empty table for party of 8. She just told me that those are for other parties of 8 which I asked her "where are they? My party are the only one in the lobby?" Then she looked at her monitor and showed me see these tables that has a larger party we're just waiting for them to leave." Then I asked "why can't I take the one that's already empty and clean up already?" She just tells me "those are already taken." I asked, "by whom?" She couldn't respond. So when we finally got our table. I immediately informed our server that we'll be taking our meal orders already due to my party is already hungry. So we finally got our food and one of my party had a burnt fried chicken. Others didn't want to complain anymore because they just wanted to eat due to hunger. My second experience here was drastically different from the first. Albeit, we had no issues with the food, they seemed to be extremely understaffed during the lunch hour and our experience greatly suffered because of it. - We needed a few more minutes before we ordered, which quickly turned into 15 or more minutes before our server made another appearance -Our food took about 40 minutes to come out. Our server told us it was ready and coming out in a moment.. but we waited 10-15 minutes longer before it hit the table which made for cold fries. -We had to ask multiple times for refills on drinks -Once we finished, we had to hunt someone down to ask for boxes and to take our money so we could leave. With all new establishments comes dialing in the experience. I'm going to give this location a few months to fix the kinks before we try them again. read more

For my first time, I was pleasantly surprised at the menu options as well as the deals offered by the chain daily . The atmosphere and music is great and gives the vibes of a beautiful modern rustic line dance hall, which I love! Went to BJ's to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Food and ambiance were good, but the service was very disappointing. Our server treated other tables warmly, but with us he was cold, dismissive, and barely engaged--no smile, no courtesy. When we asked for the check, it took a long time, and after handing over my card, he stopped at other tables before processing it, which felt intentional. The whole hype was a fail for us on this spot. Honestly the wait time for service is way too long especially when it's not even that packed. The food portion for the price we paid was ridiculous. The half rack ribs were really dried and asparagus was skimpy, the guacamole bacon burger wasn't even guacamole it was more like sliced avocados and again skimpy on the onion rings looks even worse when they serve it on a big plate for the small amount they give. The wait time was about 30 minutes but we decided to grab some open seats at the bar. We ordered a draft beer, a holiday drink, couscous mac and cheese bites, bbq ribs with French fries and asparagus, and they have an awesome $13 meal deal - I ordered the great white pizza with Caesar salad and a brownie Pizookie. All of the food was great! There's an amazing selection of beers and their drinks are so cute. Unfortunately the service cons outweighed the food pros. We had to borrow the menu from the couple sitting next to us and had to ask for water 3 times. When our appetizer came we had to ask for silverware and napkins and then again for small plates. Then we had to ask the bar back if we could please order our entrees with them. The bar backs were the most helpful people behind the bar. After we finished our entrees we asked for boxes twice and tried to find someone to kindly remind them of the pizookie that came with my meal. We made the mistake of paying via QR code before receiving all of our items because no one paid attention to us after that. Multiple people around us were getting pizookies they ordered after us and multiple bartenders assured us they would check on our dessert... 35 minutes later we received our mini pizookie but we just wanted to go home at that point. The bartender apologized and offered my boyfriend another beer - right before leaving one of the other bartenders told her to make sure she charged us for it. Going to BJ's is a safe bet: good beer to pair with the pizza or any of the fried options. My family and I went recently to take advantage of their $13 meal deal. The deal includes a small selection of their mains, unlimited soup/salad, or a personal pizza and a personal pizookie. I got the chicken ranch piadina, which is a wrap that's crispy from the parmesan. It was pretty good. Not too salty and I liked the crunch. It also came with fries. I thought the portions were just right because these chain restaurants usually have gigantic portions. Though, one of the options had an asterisk stating it was a lunch portion. I got the salted caramel pizookie and again it was the right portion for one person. The wait staff and host/hostess are friendly and helpful. And like all BJ's, it can be noisy, especially during dinner. But the wait, even at the beginning of service, is very slow. I'm not sure if they're short staffed. Plus, we were missing a pizookie, so that was another wait. As I said earlier, this is a safe option to get yummy food where the menu has a variety of options. But the wait is long, especially during the dinner rush. So if you're short on time, do not dine here or order food on the app for pick up. My family has been since it opened, but unfortunately our experience on March 18 was the worst we've had. Our waitress was rude, pushy, and repeatedly got our order wrong, which made the entire meal frustrating from the start. To make matters worse, they were out of three items we initially tried to order and half the wine list. The manager did come over and apologized, offering to reassign our table to a different server. It was his idea! I agreed, but the situation was never actually resolved--the same waitress continued serving us, which made things uncomfortable for everyone at the table. Before leaving, I followed up with the manager to ask why the change he offered never happened. He said they didn't have anyone else available, which is understandable--but that should have been communicated to us instead of making a promise that wasn't kept. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. It's disappointing, especially since we've been regular customers. We won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Here are a few highlights from my experience that demonstrated Sergio and the staff went above and beyond to ensure my family and I had the best experience and will return back to this location: -I had told Sergio that we had a group event at BJ's due to hosting a funeral the same day. Sergio and his staff personally made an effort to express their condolences and their gratitude for choosing their location to celebrate. -Originally our party size was 30 but an hour before our reservation time, we found out half of our guest list would not be attending. We've been coming to BJ's since it opened and have always enjoyed consistently good food and service -- but unfortunately, tonight was a major letdown. My husband ordered his steak medium-rare, and it was served well-done. Our server didn't check on us until I was already finished eating, and by that point, my husband didn't want to wait for it to be recooked. My drink wasn't refilled until my plate was empty, and no one cleared our table. To top it off, nothing was comped or adjusted on the bill, despite the poor service and incorrect meal. It's about 80 degrees and as soon as I walked in to this place I feel so warm. I asked the hostess and she confirmed that the AC is not working. My husband got the ribs and it was good. But my mini deep dish pizza was very disappointing. There was barely any cheese on it and all it has is a thick pizza dough with topping. I couldn't be more disappointed and only ate one bite. First time at this location for a family dinner. We had issues with seating and wasn't impressed with the hostesses. Without asking if it was acceptable to us, they had our party sitting in two booths (not tables) next to each other. So obviously not much conversation can be had with the whole group. Instead of waiting longer than we already had, we decided to keep the seating as is. They definitely have room to improve with their hostesses. What changed my mind from giving them 1-star was the manager's service recovery. He apologized and took ownership of the situation. I wasn't impressed with our server, she had no sense of urgency, was barely friendly and we had to ask her twice for things. If it wasn't for the manager coming back to check on things, service would have been worse. Had the server been good, I could have rated higher because again, of the manager. The food was great. Everyone liked what they ordered. Appetizers were good, especially the Avocado Egg Rolls. Pretzel with the Cheese Sauce and Mustard also yummy. I had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken which came with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and it was really good. The portions are large, I had the rest of my meal for lunch the next day. I ordered take out and when I picked up my order I don't usually tip until I check to make sure my order was in the bags, but since I asked for extra condiments I felt the need to tip right then and there. Got to my car and one of the ranch that she prepackaged had spilled all over the bag and into the kids meal. Not only that, they forgot a baked potato that I paid an extra $4 for. I went back inside to let them know of the error. The guy who I approached first acknowledged what I said. I thought he was walking away to get me a new bag, but instead went on to count receipts. So annoying!! I went back inside the pick up line to ask for napkins and the girl who had originally helped me finally noticed me and was able to remedy my order. Instead of me cleaning up the ranch mess it would have been nice to have them take care of it. This is why I don't like tipping before hand. The first time I went to BJs it was months ago, during high school football season. That's significant because it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in Tracy. Two factors made it such. We waited an extremely long time. Not because it was busy, it was, but because the hostess, who I believe was a high school student, was playing favorites. She kept seating her friends and people she knew first. Regardless of when they came in. It wasn't obvious at first, but became so the longer we waited. It took one of her coworkers stepping in for us to get seated. I waited over 30 minutes to complain, beyond my estimated wait Once we were seated, it took a long time for food to come out. That was OK. Getting my order wrong was not. The waitress that night was new and having problems. There were issues at her other tables too. Didn't have as much as an issue with her. We've all been new, but aI was already cranky from the long wait. The manager did come to our table to apologize. I appreciated it, but would have preferred a smoother dining experience. It took me over 6 months to go back. With all the other options in town, why give money to a place that doesn't seem to want it? My second visit was not on a Friday. It was a weekday lunch. Good service, good food. It wasn't that busy. But the kitchen seems to move slowly regardless of how many patrons they have. Not a place to go if you are in a rush.
