Reviewing for what it is and the satisfaction it brings to my pilipino parents. They loved it, nostalgia. Clean facilities, online order ahead of time worked well -- scheduled pickup was good, though there should be clearer signs that the "Exit Only" door can also be used for online pickup when the line to order at the restaurant is so long it leaks outside. My husband and I don't normally go to these greasy, meat and carb-heavy places, but we genuinely enjoyed the spicy deluxe chicken sandwich -- the only thing on the menu as far as I can tell with any fresh vegetables. :) It is comparable to Chik Fil A's. The mashed potatoes are a bit too buttery for me if I eat them alone, but dipping a fried chicken piece into it is alright. Gravy alone is better IMO. Palabok is appropriately garlicky, fishy, and shrimp. Spaghetti is sweet with the traditional hot dog bits and plenty of sauce: maybe they listened to previous reviewers saying there wasn't enough. Love the crispy fried chicken, and my kids and hubby love them, too! We think it's the best fried chicken served by a chain restaurant (and trust me, we've tried plenty!). We also love the peach mango pie (always a winner!) and they had a new offering of the coconut pineapple pie which was also delicious! I wish I got more of those as I had only bought one to try. If you like a sweeter taste in your burgers, you gotta have the aloha burger. It's got bacon and pineapple in it so it makes it juicier. Welcome to the DMV Jollibee! I was so excited to hear they opened a location close enough for us to try. Although it was about a 45 minute drive, we read the reviews and were fully prepared with a game plan. We called ahead knowing there was an average of a 2hour wait for pick up time and just called a few hours before we were ready to feast. Although ordering via waiting in a queue is not typical - I would much rather do that then wait outside for 2 hours trying to get food. I was ticket 45 in the queue and waited exactly 45 minutes before the unjolliest person ever took my order LOL she clearly was having herself a DAY! Luckily once we got there, the pick up process was seamless and the people coordinating pick up were extremely helpful, kind and coordinated. Due to COVID... still no indoor seating. Plus they just basically opened so they're in an adjustment period. Meaning, you need to call and wait time can be a bit challenging even before you get cued or answered for you to be able to give your order. I called at 7:30PM on a Thursday and pick up was at 7:45. That was quick! Got our order at 8 so there was about a 15 min wait outside. This truly brings childhood memories from home. I've been eating Jollibee since I've lived in LA. When I moved to MD I would drive to New Jersey to get my Jollibee fix. I always order the spicy chicken joy with rice and extra gravy. Chicken is more crispy when it's spicy but can be very spicy hence the extra gravy and white rice. The Wheaton location doesn't have spicy chicken but they do have the mango pies which are great and the pineapple juice. The spaghetti is sweet I tried it once and never ordered again. Hospitality is everything to me; so when I entered and was immediately greeted at the door--my kind of place. What to order? To drink, get the Modern Interpretations of Luxury. Light, filled to the rim, and tasty. For appetizers and soups, get the deviled eggs (sweet, tangy...reminds me of the southern deviled egg) and the Gumbo (filling and served with Hush Puppies that will have you wanting more). We were around the neighborhood so we decided to try and call-in to order food for the first time. We heard a lot of horror stories of being on the phone for hours just to put in orders so, we were prepared. Dialed the number, voice prompt said we were number 2 "in line". I thought I misheard it that it said "102" (which is better than 300, as our friends told us), immediately a friendly voice on the other lone started talking. Man! My wife and I weren't prepared to order (lol!). So we went basic, things that we grew up eating. Chickenjoy, spaghetti, PMP (part of a meal) and we just added 3 Yumburgers. No burgersteak (boo!), no Champ (smh.), no Aloha, no Jolly hotdog. They will tell you your pick up time and your pick up number. Pay attention to these infos. Seriously. Our pick up time wasn't bad at all, 30 minutes. Again, our friends told us that after waiting hours on the phone just to order, they have to wait hours again to pick up their food. We got there 5 minutes early of our p/u time and there's a crowd outside the store. There's a security guard taking down order numbers and p/u times. That's why it's important to know those things. One lady was there complaining that she been waiting for 30 minutes just to find out that she was 2 hours early of her p/u time. Again, the store is very busy and they make the food as they get called in hence, they give you a p/u time. C'mon people! I waited prolly an extra 10 minutes past my p/u time, I don't mind, it's not a big deal. The security guard will yell out your order number (IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER!), when it's ready and he'll direct you to go left or right of the door and you will be greeted by friendly staff that will go over your order, very nice! Now on to the food. So, we have to drive back to Catonsville (about 30 minutes) before we can eat, so we quickly ran the chicken to our air fryer to recrisp the skin, spaghetti was still pretty warm as well as the PMPs. I really love the pies, it has more fruit fillings compared to other fast food hand pies, which has more of the gooey syrup than the actual fruit itself. The chickenjoy never fails to bring smile to my face (and my belly) crispy, flavorful, juicy. Then gravy on rice...bam! My daughter loves their spaghetti. It could use a little more sauce and meat, but it does the trick for her, not for my wife tho. Albeit good flavor, we could use more toppings. My only disappointment, for real tho, is the yumburger. The bread was really stale. Like crumbly stale.And what's up with those wrappers?!? They used the paper where we wrap our cheesesteaks here in Bmore. Like the thick paper, y'all know what I'm talking about! Not sure if they just ran out of their regular Jollibee wrappers or what. Not sure if that made the bread stale. Oh well. After zapping it with moist papertowel, the bread came back to life. Flavor of the burger is so classic that it brought my wife and I to our childhood. Amazing! Not really sure what the hype is about. I'm from south Louisiana and we have better chicken( seasoned) at gas stations. We got a 2 piece with mashed potatoes and gravy, adobo rice, a burger and fries. Nothing worth talking about for $ 25. The peach mango pie is the best thing they have. We drive 30+ minutes to go to this location and the employees try but to drive and then wait 30 minutes in line just to find out they are out of regular chicken is inexcusable. I've always wanted to try Jollibee upon hearing it about it from my Filipino friends. Imagine you fly all the way from LA to visit Maryland, you drive by and see "Oh Jollibee". I stopped by excited, go in, and the whole place is full. I should have known something was up when there were only 2 people in line to order, but the room was filled with 30-40 people waiting for their orders. But anyway, I order a couple of pieces of chicken, spaghetti, and a couple of sandwiches and wait. Order 124. First 10 minutes - filled with anticipation. They call up order 110 and then 130 and then 127. I'm getting anxious because no restaurants I've been to would skip around order numbers this much. 30 min passes and I am in despair. 45 min passes and people around me are getting their orders and complain to the employees about waiting for 20 min. I was waiting for over 50 minutes lady! And you know it is bad when different employees are shouting at the cashier to stop taking orders. I got my food finally at one hour mark. Half the food already cooled down as it awaited its last sandwich brethren. I eat the food and you know what? It's pretty good for fastfood fried chicken and sandwich. I liked the spaghetti too. Pretty heavy but satisfying. The pie reminded me of McDonalds pie back when they used to fry it. The food would be worth it were it not for the waiting and the disorganized kitchen. There needs some reworked system because the wait time for a fast food restaurant that makes a Michelin course restaurant appear like instant meal is probably not a positive thing. Last time I waited this long was maybe at an amusement park for a log ride. The first time I came amazing experience food was hot and fresh and customer service was excellent. The second time I came it was 35 minutes to closing and I was told they only have spicy chicken and no mild left. They told me the mild chicken they had was for an online order. I decided not to order because I do not like spicy chicken however, my friend ordered the spicy chicken and told me that it was cold wasn't fresh. He also purchased a soda and it was flat. He also let me know that it wasn't that spicy so we decided to come a third time and the third time you guessed it no mouth chicken only spicy and so because my friend told me that it wasn't that spicy I was like you know what let me just go ahead and give it a try I'm hungry mind you it's only 8:30 PM. They don't close until 10 so there's no excuse for them not to have all the chicken that they need to Have, so I try it and when I tell you my mouth was on fire and so I go up to the counter and I'm like hey I can't eat this can I order some of the chicken tenders and no apology was given. She also charge me for the chicken tenders I paid almost $14 for the original order that I didn't even eat and paid an additional eight dollars and some change for the chicken tenders which was stale. I informed her that this is the second time this is happened and she didn't even seem remorseful. She was like oh well I was surprised when this happened to this is never happened before I was like well it happened before because I was here she was like well it wasn't on my shift so I don't know. While the food is good and tasty, their handling of online order is not. I ordered online through their app and was given an estimated time for pick up. I have ordered online before and didn't come upon any major issues when I went to pick up. The last 2 times I went (and ordered through the app), the order wasn't ready. In fact, they haven't even started the order. The most recent trip, I was given an estimated time of 12:13 for pick up. I got there at 12:10 and let them know that I am here to pick up. They looked at me, looked at the orders in the queue, looked at me again, and said, "Just give us a few minutes." I was like, "Fine, whatever." 20 minutes past, I asked if my order was ready. They looked at me, look at the order queue, look at me, and said, "Just give us a few minutes." Another 10 minutes past and everyone who ordered at the counter got their food, I asked them when am I going to get my order. They again looked at me, looked at the order queue, looked at me again, and said, "Just give us a few minutes." After almost an hour since I placed the initial online order, my food was finally ready. Not pleased with their handling of online orders. I understand that it was during the lunchtime rush and they were pretty (not super) busy. However, they should have been working on my order along side with the at the counter orders. Some of us who order online wants to come in pick up our order and go. But having to wait almost an hour for an online order, it just defeats the purpose of online ordering. Jollibee is huge around the world, but only has 12 stores in the U.S. Ok here's some of the menu (which I was told was not the full Filipino menu); bone in fried chicken comes in thigh or leg form which you can get a 1,2,or 3 piece with one side or 2 sides (from $7.99-$10.49). Buckets of chicken range from 6 piece to 10 piece ($12.99-$21.99) or you can get family meals ranging from a 6 piece, one large side, with their peach mango pies-a 10 piece with the same ($30-$38). They have a couple burgers, fries, a delicious chicken sandwich, rice, and the standard drink selection. Ok what struck me as unique was the SPAGHETTI on their menu, their Palabok (a traditional Filipino noodle dish with garlic sauce, a sautéed protein, and egg), their peach mango pies, gravy to dip your chicken in, and their pineapple quencher. I copped their 6 piece spicy family meal (pictured-with spaghetti, pies, gravy, and the pineapple juice $40), and their Chickenwich deluxe (pictured-white meat $5.49). The last time we came here, we were told the wait for chicken would be 1 hour and 30 minutes. Granted, it was the Saturday lunch rush, but this location has been open for a while now, so I don't really understand why they still don't know how to gauge traffic and prepare their main dish, literally the reason people visit, accordingly. We opted for spaghetti instead and it was good, although the wait for that was also 20 minutes. I've tried the Yumburger and peach mango pie from this location as well and those were also good. This is the only Jollibee I've been to, so I'm not sure if the wait is like this across the board, but it defeats the point of fast food and although the food is tasty, it definitely isn't worth a wait of over an hour. If you're new to Jollibee, try a little bit of everything. The prices are budget and family friendly. Filipino spaghetti is sweeter in taste because of banana ketchup (it doesn't taste like banana) and the toppings include hot dogs and cheese. The chicken comes with brown gravy. When reheating, I usually just microwave the gravy and dip the chicken so the chicken doesn't lose it's crispness in the microwave. Palabok is thin, clear noodles with ground pork and seafood gravy, topped with the smallest shrimp and boiled eggs. It's hilarious reading these 1 & 2 star reviews due to items running out and the ridiculously long phone queue. I get it - you hate the system. But had they allowed in person ordering or even doordash/third party app pick up - this would have easily been the worst experience and there would be a queue wrapping around the block with 50 people waiting to order and 50 people waiting for pick up. If you've been to the one in Virginia Beach - the drive through alone is always packed and you're likely there for 15-20 minutes just to wait in line, order and finally get your food. Recently moved to the DMV area from the west coast - and of course have had Jollibee in multiple cities there. Me & the wife were anticipating the opening as we were excited to not have to drive to Virginia Beach. Good thing I checked on yelp to learn what the process was fearing that it was going to be hundreds of people going to finally experience Jollibee in the DMV area. Food was good in getting a Yumburger with cheese, Spaghetti & the Chickenjoy. The only let downs were one of the chickens didn't taste as good as the rest of the batch. Also they currently do not have burger steak on the menu which is surprise to me since it's fairly a quick recipe for them. And of course - them running out of Peach Mango Pie. Mind you this was Sunday night while getting an order in by 9:20PM. Pick up time was 10:35PM. Waited in the parking lot for 30 minutes before finally approaching the outdoor line queue for pick up at 10:30PM. Food was bagged and ready for me to grab as an associate had my food sitting on the trey. There's a worker on headset calling out the orders to have prepped and ready at the table placed right in front of the secondary door. Like most, I called multiple times yesterday, waited for hours to have all my calls drop or reach a full voicemail. But I was determined so I tried again this morning. I was on the phone from at 0730 and was able to order by 0930. The menu is limited right now, but they are willing to make some adjustments. I was given an order number, time of pick-up (around 1050), and was told that a text message would arrive informing me that the order is ready. My allotted time passed and although no text ever came, I made my way to the store. While passing Veirs Mill Road on University Blvd., a familiar waft reached my nose. It isn't the usual smell of roasted chicken you'd catch while passing by Wheaton, but the smell of crispy, fresh, fried chicken that is ingrained in most Filipinos. Whether you were born in the Philippines or not, the excitement this scent brings is universal. As I wait in line, wondering if all who were in it is feeling the same giddiness as I was, a gentleman was advising those getting in line to call and order, if they haven't yet. Another gentleman was asking for customers' order numbers, while a lady was directing the flow of traffic in and out the store. The wait was not long, and within five minutes I was escorted in. The lady handling my order checks the receipt and my items. While she was checking, I took a quick glance around the room and noticed how efficient their system is. There were tables with dozens of bags ready for pick-up, four cashiers constantly on the phone, four to five staff packing orders, two or three staff handing out bags to customers, and possibly three to four more in the kitchen. It's unfortunate that plenty of people were giving them a bad review. I understand the frustration, but if you get a chance, call early and be patient. They are doing the best they can to serve the DMV area. Remember, they have less than twenty staff, in a limited space, catering to thousands of us during a pandemic.
