a meal in a styrofoam container - A black plastic container features grilled chicken, steamed broccoli and carrots, and a cucumber salad with diced vegetables.

I needed to take a break from Sardis and the chicken here is just as good! It's located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring and is affordable and filling. They give you plenty of food so you'll definitely have some tasty leftover!

    Whole Chicken Fiesta for 4

Ordered Don Pollo to go as I've always wanted to try this restaurant for a while now, just never had the chance to! I ordered the fiesta for four, which comes with a whole chicken and 4 sides. For the sides I got their steak fries and their chaufa rice (fried rice). The chicken was okay, it was seasoned well, but I've had better. I loved the chaufa rice, it was absolutely delicious! The fries were okay as well, have had better. The meal comes with 2 large sauces (mild yellow and spicy green sauce). Overall the service was good, I ordered over the phone and picked up in person within 15-20 min. Compared to other locations in Wheaton where they have an array of Peruvian restaurants, this location is okay. I do like the fact that they offer fried rice. If I don't feel like driving 15 minutes to Wheaton, this is a good option that's 5 minutes away from me.

Live like there'll be no tomorrow Put this in your mouth and then swallow When in Silver Spring There is only one thing To eat: chicken and sauce from Don Pollo! First there was Don Quixote, Don Corleone, and Don Henley. Now there is Don Pollo. My notes say - pretty yummy chicken, cheap, not bad at all, sauces were just fine, service friendly. Considering that it is one of the less heralded places for Peruvian chicken in the area, it was actually pretty impressive. Definitely more Salvadoran than it is Peruvian, but absolutely worth your time, and they were pretty friendly as well which was an added bonus. So if you're driving by, Pollo-ver to the side and try this out.

Special of the day (chicken fried rice)

What a great little chicken spot! If you love rotisserie chickens with a little flair this place is for you. I have been to this plaza many times in the past for the Ross, barbershop, enterprise, and Dunkin' Donuts. But I have never tried the chicken. It was a few days before thanks so has already been to a few friendsgivings and was "turkey tired!" So I had the special of the day. The fried chicken rice. It was so good! I was surprised and the price was decent. It tasted like Chinese fried rice from budakkans in Philadelphia or PF Changs. I usually pay 15-20 for fried rice at a high end place so 8.99 was a steal. I will definitely be back in the future when I stop for my haircuts.

This spot is serving meals that are quite delicious. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the chicken was juicy. Perfect pricing for the portion given for takeout. I'd come again. However, I did question how sanitary their plastic utensils were. In this time of COVID-19, they left all their utensils out for customers to choose from and take. I guess I would feel a lot safer if they kept it behind the counter and gave out the utensils instead.

Amazing food!! Very quick service, cheap prices, clean environment, and great staff. Will be coming here again and telling everyone about it! Thank you guys!

This place smells amazing! I got take out from here and the food was excellent! Better than Sardis and no line for the wait. I got the ceviche and the lomo saltado. The cheviche was too citrusy and the lime was over powering. The house-made sauces were wonderful and very flavorful. The ceviche came with corn nuts, shrimp, onions, calamari, and tuna. The lomo saltado was very tasty and flavorful. The meat was juicy and came with tomatoes, french fries, onions, and rice. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The tres leche for desert was sweet, very creamy, and very moist. The price was very reasonable and they have daily specials! You must come check this place out!

Two quarter dark chicken meals one with plantains and fried rice. The other with beans and white rice and French fries.

Ordered these meals on Uber eats, it came really quick. The food is always delicious and not expensive. I didn't feel like cooking dinner tonight and this was the first place I thought of. I usually go in store to order and when I do the people are friendly and the food always comes out quick. I would definitely recommend this place.

Highlights from the table: * Lobster Roll (Connecticut style) * Seafood Burger * Seafood Sampler - great crab cake, flavorful cod, and perfectly grilled shrimp * North Atlantic Canadian Salmon * Shellfish Risotto - delicious, though a bit thick, with perfectly prepared shrimp and scallops that were tender. * Fish & Chips - light breading and hearty portions Our friend with dietary restrictions was also thrilled to find a gluten-free brownie with ice cream. This most recent visit was with a friend who was trying it for the first time, and he loved it. The food was delicious as always. He had the arroz con pollo (which I recommended), and I had the camarones al ajillo -- shrimp in garlic sauce with rice, salad, and plantains. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The bartenders were so pleasant and attentive. We sat at the bar, and even though it was crowded (which it usually is -- a good sign!), the service was still great. Now let's talk about the drinks because they were the real stars:    *   My friend had three mango margaritas and couldn't stop talking about how good they were.    *   I tried the cucumber jalapeño margarita -- you could literally smell the fresh cucumber as they made it. It did not hold back on the jalapeño! It had a real kick, but the flavor was amazing.    *   And the mojitos? Delicious. They use real sugarcane, and you can taste the freshness. Great vibes, great service, consistently amazing food and drinks. I will absolutely keep coming back and always recommend this place.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, welcoming and not pretentious, a mix of couples, families, and groups of friends enjoying a night out. The restaurant was bustling, the bar area was nearly full and while we did have a reservation, it appeared not to be absolutely necessary. Service was friendly, prompt, and informative.    I started with one of their craft cocktails and our server recommended a beer for my friend. The drinks were perfectly refreshing and a good start to our evening. When my friend saw they had oysters, this convinced him we had chosen wisely. We selected a mix of their oyster offerings. They arrived chilled and with just the right amount of condiments making for a tantalizing slurp to start our dinner. For starters, we selected the Brussels Sprouts and the Roasted Beet Carpaccio. The Brussels were perhaps some of the best we've had in quite some time, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The goat cheese on the Beet Carpaccio was very good, but for me, the flavor profile wasn't quite there, it needed a little more acidity. For dinner, my friend selected the Shrimp and Grits, and I chose the Argentinian Steak. While quite good, constructive criticism would be that the vinegar in the chimichurri, smothered an otherwise perfectly cooked, flavorful steak and the rosemary overpowered the roasted potatoes. The grits, while delicious, were almost too creamy rich, but otherwise a delicious blend of sausage and shrimp. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Pie and the Carrot Cake. The cake was very good, but we weren't fans of the hardened frosting top, and we wished the Key Lime Pie had even more tart, lime flavor.   The portions were plentiful, the price point was reasonable, and all plates were wonderfully presented. The friendly neighborhood environment, atmosphere, and service all enhanced our dining experience. Definitely give them a try, we will return and look forward to it.
