This repurposed gas station is a super cool addition to Longmont as a neighborhood restaurant and bar. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the care that's gone into the vibe of being in an old school building. It definitely takes you back! What I ordered: Chef's Pineapple Dole Whipper (yes, you read that right ), Thyme for One More, Diesel Burger (onion bacon jam and brie?!), Kerouac's Cheese Steak, fries, and onion rings. Best bite: Everything was , but the Diesel Burger was the star. The onion bacon jam, brie, and truffle aioli balanced each other perfectly and made this burger top tier. The hubs and I met up with friends this weekend for a get together. It was self seating and we chose the top floor. It was a nice space that was cozy and perfect for a group of four. You can either order from your phone or a server. We had a really nice server who couldn't be sweeter and more helpful and she took our order. I opted for the black bean burger with no pickled onions and sub in the green chili mayo. I thought this was an excellent example of a black bean burger and it paired nicely with the fries that I shared with my husband. He got the fried chicken sandwich and while crispy, the chicken didn't have a ton of flavor in the breading. We both got cookies for dessert - me the sugar and him the chocolate chip. They were wrapped in Saran Wrap which is no biggie but both were dry and I only ate a bite of mine. The space is great and service is fantastic as the highlights of our experience. read more

A very cute and fun spot for a group hang or a date. There's plenty of outdoor space at Johnson's station and apparently some space to work upstairs and a "camper bar". Would love to check those out! There isn't a space like this on Longmont right now, and for the second day of business, they seem to be doing a great job. Service was attentive. Burgers were solid. My drink was also good. Fries probably needed to be fried at higher temps (they were oily) and I would've loved a toasted bun on my burger. The ice cream was delicious, but I'd probably just go to Sweet Cow given the price for a small scoop. I would definitely come back, especially with a group. read more

SO GLAD this place changed operators. Now the coolest spot in South Longmont actually has great food, fantastic, service, LIVE MUSIC including Jazz, spot-on drinks, and a killer chicken sandwich. Beautiful space, great food and nice staff! We don't have anything quite like this in Longmont and we need it. I look forward to going back and am hoping that the drinks will improve as they gain experience and are open longer. For now I'll stick to wine or canned bevs till they sort out the bartending. I ordered directly from the bar so I saw the staff making each round. They were made by different bartenders and each bartender made them differently and that difference was pronounced. First bartender heavily diluted our drinks once they were poured into glasses because the mixed drinks themselves barely filled the glasses 1/3 of the way. Keep in mind the glasses were already full of ice. Giving a small spirt of soda from the gun isn't unusual to bring the drink to fill the glass. But filling the glass 1/2 or more of soda (with a margarita at least) certainly explains why they tasted so diluted. Because they were. Second bartender didn't dilute the margaritas quite at much, the drinks came to about 1/2 way in the glass but were extremely sweet, especially compared to the first round. The point of all that being said is it seems like the bartending staff aren't experienced or perhaps they didn't all get trained together for Johnson's so the same drink order carries greatly based on the bartender and the mixed drinks themselves aren't being scaled to the size of the glasses so they dilute them to fill the glass. read more

The best vibes can be found here! I enjoyed everything from the views, to the seating, the drinks and the food! My favorite alcoholic drink was the mojito with mint foam! But also, you must try the coffee-infused tequila! Since they had just opened at the time the service was a bit slow but our food was hot and fresh so I didn't mind! read more

They put so much money into making the space cool they forgot to make the food good. It's a shame that we have yet again another burger place. Nothing here is original except the space so if you're looking for good eats try somewhere else. Otherwise the patio is great for drinks. read more

Diesel Burger was excellent, my wife's burger was excellent, our fries were cooked perfectly. Service model is kind of strange. The service staff was excellent and attentive, but the model of having signs out then scanning a QR code, then adding my credit card manually, only to realize the server could then just take my credit card and do the same thing, etc... It felt kinda disjointed and awkward. Overall, service staff was very helpful so it doesn't lose any marks there. The concept is beautiful and interesting to see in person, I'm so happy they turned this location around and turned it into what it is. The cocktails need a lot of work. My None Of Your Bees-Wax tasted like the primary ingredient was Lemon juice and not Gin, despite Gin being listed first. When I gave this feedback to the bartender (that it tasted mostly of juice, that the balance was off) he seemed to not take it well and just told me there were 2 ounces of Gin in there. I never doubted there was a proper shot of Gin in there, I was more astonished by the total lack of balance, it felt like I was drinking a mocktail of lemon, honey, and anise. It was totally lacking in the boozy bite one expects in a cocktail. My wife's Pear-adise cocktail was the same thing. I would significantly reduce the lemon juice in these drinks and rebalance them for a smaller glass. The old fashioned glass used for mine felt like a water glass tumbler and if the drink were rebalanced for the size of a single old fashioned it would work perfectly. For my wife's drink if it was a classic thinner collins glass the balance would have been better. This is a common thing in Longmont restaurants, something I call "big glass syndrome", it can trick your recipes into adding "filler". read more

Wonderful addition to not only to the Prospect neighborhood but to Longmont as a whole. We love this neighborhood and there at too many unknown gem of restaurants here!!! The burgers are wonderful. Just the right size and they don't eat as greasy smash burgers! The Philly fries are amazing and the milk shake, are you freaking kidding me little man ice cream, amazing!!!! 10/10 recommend. Such a great little burger spot. And the service is either QR code or full service and they are wonderful. read more

We wanted to like this place, so much but this just isn't it. ALL of our food was warm at best. Burger, pork sandwich, pretzel. Onion rings were over cooked. We got the Not so jittery infusion & Garage drink. The infusion was not bad but the garage drink was laughable for $12. There was way too much ice and little of the actual drink. It was also very weak, I don't expect a heavy pour by any means, but this was the barest of bare, I felt nothing. Maybe they'll improve with the reviews and feedback they are given. So will give them another try in a few more months. The premise was interesting but the have a lot to work on. read more

Disappointing experience. This is more of a glorified concession stand than a restaurant. There were no signs or explanations about how the system worked, and even though we were asked if it was our first time 'dining' with them, no one explained the process. We had to figure out that we were supposed to order through our phones and pick up our own food from a window. Based on the placement of garbage cans and trolleys, it also seemed we were expected to clear our own tables. Despite the lack of service, the system defaults to a 20% tip. Who were we tipping? There was only one person in the kitchen, and I saw them defrost and prepare frozen meals. Meanwhile, since we weren't constantly checking our phones for the text notification, our food sat out getting cold without us realizing it was ready. The food itself was dry and unmemorable. While they might attribute the experience to being understaffed during the week or catering more to the evening crowd, it certainly didn't make for a great lunch spot. read more

Great vibes. The outdoor patio spaces can't be beat in longmont. I also love the repurposing the old gas pumps out front as electric, nice touch! But the food isn't great. Wanted to like this place, but it just didn't live up to expectations. First the good: it looks fantastic. That's it. And that's one of the main problems. It looks like a homey, friendly old-time burger joint, but it isn't. The cognitive dissonance ruins the experience. Now for the not so good: - When entering the front door, you just see an ice cream station with nobody behind it (at least when I was there). You just wander around until you happen to find someone who can help you, and all they do is point to the scan codes on the bar/table and tell you that's where you get the menu. Absolutely no sense of service or hospitality. - The reliance on phones for menus and notifications is inconvenient, annoying, intrusive and not at all in line with the old-time aesthetic that the look of the station portrays. - The burgers were Costco/Sam's Club level at best. Certainly not worth the price Johnson's is charging. You can get a burger 10 times better for the same price at Smashburger. - The fries were barely warm, even though I picked up my plate the moment it came to the serving window. So, in summary: Looks great, but doesn't live up to the looks. read more

Disappointing Experience at Johnson Station We had high hopes for this new restaurant, but our experience was disappointing from start to finish. There was no meet-and-greet or host upon arrival, and we struggled to find any staff to guide us Monday Oct 14th at 6pm Eventually, we found someone who told us to order via a QR code or head to the bar. Since I forgot my phone, I couldn't access the QR code, and there were no menus at the bar either. The bartender did her best to assist, but I was informed I had to walk over to the kitchen just to place an order. It felt very disorganized. While having dinner, two staff members were audibly complaining about one another--not something you want to hear when you're trying to enjoy a meal. The whole experience felt unwelcoming, and with the self-serve setup, I was surprised they still asked for a tip. To make matters worse, my husband ended up with food poisoning that lasted all night. I really wanted to love Johnson Station, but unfortunately, I can't recommend it. The lack of friendly staff and the disorganized setup left us disappointed. read more

Well this was a super disappointing experience after waiting years for the place to open. Cool space but nearly non-existent service and literally the worst burger I have ever had. Menu claims 1/4 lb but it was a fraction of that. None of the condiments advertised were on the burger, just a stale bun and burned sliver of beef. I'm not exaggerating.
