Tried to eat dinner at Pepper Jack's Grille and physically could not get in; no sign to inform us of 8pm closing. So we went to the Tavern at Saddleback and it was worth the detour. Great service, awesome food and an AMAZING view of the sunset from the patio! The patio is placed perfectly to watch the sun dip behind the Rockies. I encourage you to check it out for yourself. Firestone has been in need of more sitdown/family dining... Please support it and visit at least once! read more

Heard a lot of good about this place so wife and I tried it for lunch - food tasted good, mountain views on patio were excellent, price a little high - to be expected at a golf course. Service was smiling but non attentive. Dropped the food and ran, charged for extra Tartar sauce, never refilled the water and I had to walk to the bar to get my ticket to pay. Ok, I have had poor service before and just adjust my tip accordingly - however they automatically add 18% - I guess it is an entitlement tax! I kind of want to come back, but am not sure. Now for the cherry on top! I had a quarter of my mussels closed! Closed mussels are dangerous, one or two can be expected at an average place, but 6? They did take half the price of the order off - of course we considered sending them back for a full refund, but the waitress never returned. Trying to figure out if I want to return. I reside in Firestone, I just wish the restaurants here could shoot for greater excellence. read more

The Tavern is at the Saddleback golf course and in all the times I have driven past, I didn't realize there was a restaurant. It is a beautiful open restaurant with large windows and lots of light. Since it is winter, it was slow at lunch today. However, the food was delicious and the service from Claire outstanding! Thursday is hamburger special day. A great deal for $7.00, not to mention the best burger I've found in Colorado so far. It was actually cooked the way I ordered it! I have already decided this is place I will return! read more

It was okay - nice view, decent food, but nothing overly impressive. Service was okay, again, nothing to be impressed about. We went in with two families totalling 7 people and a baby and it took them quite a few moments to stop their conversation at the bar to seat us. Service could be worse, food could be worse, but they need to get rid of the automatic 20% for tip added to the bill. read more

We have truly enjoyed this place every time we'd visited ... before COVID. We went today and they are not taking the situation seriously. The staff are barely wearing masks (some not at all). The inside is mostly closed and there's no table service, but the tables are still right on top of each other and the other patrons--NONE of them were wearing masks. We felt unsafe and just wanted to leave. read more

Not impressed with the food and service is mediocre. Tried this restaurant twice, hoping maybe the first time was a fluke. Had the fish and chips the first time. Fish was rubbery and shaped like oversized fish sticks. Slaw was tasteless. Fries were the only thing halfway decent. The second time, our group split several appetizers. Again, it wasn't all that great and the kitchen wouldn't cut our street tacos in half for us so we could easily split among the group. Coconut shrimp and tots tasted like old oil. What topped off our second night was being charged a dollar for the alcohol added to our cocktails. No where on the drink menu did it note the cocktails were non alcoholic and would be an additional dollar. Also, they charge an automatic 20% fee to every bill, no matter the size of the party/bill. Probably why the service is just so-so. read more

The food, waitstaff and ambience was really good! What they went wrong was that when I called at 5:30 to inquire about their happy hour the gentleman on the other side stated that happy hour was until 6 pm, when we arrived in the restaurant happy hour had ended t 5 pm! Bait and switch at its finest! Even though I explained to the waiter that I had called a few minutes ago inquiring and got told the wrong information he apologized but still brought us the ticket with the full price of the food and drinks with no discounts for the happy hour! Oh and by way they didn't have strawberries for the strawberry lemonade spritzer and they finally got it for me and hour late. You should step it up for your mistakes and not punish the customers! read more

Restaurant is open until 9:00 p.m. So....customers may enter the restaurant until then. If you are open until a certain time and accepting orders to the kitchen, you can expect that customers will be there eating, drinking, and socializing after that time. Maybe even an hour later? Tonight, after ordering food close to the 9:00 closing, at 9:00, the bartender shuts off the TV's showing sports events....that we were watching, and turns off the music. The staff is mopping floors and standing around looking like they just want you to go. All these things should be done after your customers have left. If you want everyone out by 9:00, then have a closing time of 8:00. Food was great. Our food server was great. But not happy with feeling we should be out the door at 9:00. read more

I live in Denver but WHENEVER possible I always try to go to this place! I don't even play golf all that much. But I come just for the restaurant! The truffle fries are the best! The atmosphere is so cozy and the view are INCREDIBLE! The staff really treats you like family when dining here. I could not recommend this place more! read more

Not the best choice for Easter Brunch. Saw the ad and made a reservation for our family. Nowhere in the ad did it mention an automatic gratuity of 20% which was automatically added to our bill. For a buffet! There was no table service, even had to get our own drinks. Food was just Ok and not worth the price. I made reservations for 14 but I can't count. My family is only 12. They still charged me for 14! I guess they can't count either! Will take this place off our list! read more

I enjoyed my first visit here in December and wanted to eat there for Mother's Day. Called ten days ago to see if we could eat lunch and specified that it was for MD. "Sure! Regular menu, but we don't take reservations." (Great, since we didn't want brunch. ) Today, on Mother's Day, walk in at noon to find brunch. Hostess says " Do you have a reservation?" Obviously, we were confused. When we said we called to confirm, she said " Oh, well, that was 10 days ago. We didn't have anything planned yet. You can come back later." We had already eaten breakfast, and there was no place else that we were going to get into for lunch at that point. We already had dinner plans. I can appreciate the "we're laid back" vibe they portray, but I am much less likely to return here (despite the good food I had here on my first visit) if they don't really care about customer service. I am so disappointed in this restaurant. I flew in from Arizona to celebrate my son and daughter-in-laws birthdays. My husband suggested we go The Tavern since we had been there before and really liked it. Unfortunately, our experience this time was a complete disaster!!! When asked if the food was okay, we were polite, but honest, and told them we were not happy with the quality of the food. We tried several different appetizers and main dishes. Nothing was good! We ordered wine...never got it. We were all supposed to get a salad with dinner...never served them! Jessica (supposedly one of the managers) and the "cook/highest manager we could talk to" were two of the rudest people I've ever met. They never apologized about about the food just told us that everyone else in the bar loved it. Please note, there were only two other people in the restaurant sitting at the bar. They also told us that we were being belligerent and that we were on camera and The Tavern was obviously NOT for us!! I'm not sure with no one at our table raising their voice and my daughter-in-law trying to tell them that they've been there several times and loved it was being belligerent?! Jessica also stated that she could refuse to serve us if she wanted to. JUST AN UNBELIEVABLE EXPERIENCE!!! The owner should seriously rethink their decision on who runs their restaurant while they're vacationing in Finland because that place will go down fast with those two clowns running the show! Tonight was the absolute worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I wish there were an option for no stars. To be so disrespected by staff Jessica and her bouncer Darren who claimed to be the highest manager we could speak to was more than frustrating. My wife and I brought my parents there from out of town for this disgraceful scene. After being asked how the food was we let our server know we were not happy with the food and Jessica who was helping out gave such attitude and got defensive about everything. We were told that this food was the best they can do and maybe this restaurant wasn't for us. At no point was there an apology, just accusations that we were "beligerant" and they defended their food saying everyone else has loved it. Hard to believe especially since there were 2 other people in the whole place. AFTER the meal, the waitress told us she has the right to refuse service and then yelled back at the cook/bouncer/manager that we weren't going to pay. He came out defending his food and said we shouldn't come back because it's the best he can do. My family has been deeply upset by this circus show tonight and neither one of these two should ever work in the service industry. Entirely out of line! What was supposed to be a celebratory night ended up a disaster. read more

Quality dining choices are pretty slim in the Old Town Frederick area, so any new choice is welcome. Even better when that choice far exceeds expectations! This is a beautiful new restaurant located in the new clubhouse at Saddleback Golf Course. Don't let that deter you. This isn't typical golf course food. There is a complete dinner menu starting at 4pm, (lunch until 4pm,) and bar. I make my first judgement of a restaurant by their burgers and was not disappointed! I can't wait to go back to try their dinner entrees. Service was excellent. Plenty of indoor seating as well as outside deck seats. (There is no smoking on the outside deck.) Sit outside, or by the windows, for a great view. Currently no reservations are needed, but I expect that will change if standards are kept to my experience last night. Please try the "chips!" They're hand made on site and better than the fries. The Mile High Chocolate Cake was delicious. Great staff, great service, (we were especially impressed by our server Avery,) great atmosphere and food to match. I expect this will become our "go to" dinner choice. read more

Decent food but a scam of a business with the prices and a 20% "service fee" that doesn't even go to the wait staff.

After a six month hiatus of not dining at the Tavern, we decided to give it another chance with 2 other couples. Our waitress was rather new on the job and probably was not prepared to serve six people. Friday was their special - as Prime Rib which was reintroduced to the menu. Three people ordered Prime Rib and it was a total disaster - medium rare was rare, end piece was just a plain slice and another medium came in rare, full of fat. Basically three slices of worthless meat. The other three ordered plain hamburgers and salad and that was OK. Our disappointment was with the food and the service as everything just did not work out. I spoke to the manager and then requested to speak with the owner and showed her the poor quality and preparation of the Prime Rib. We politely explained the issues but there was not resolution. While the Prime Rib was the most expensive item on the menu, no offer was made to reduce the price or offering us a desert as some small compensation. Adding insult to this a 20% tip was automatically added to our bill and the bill was recalculated three times. All I can say is that the Tavern will not be seeing again and hopefully there will be an attitude change to the quality of food served and improvement of service as well. read more

I just really want to brag about our takeout Thanksgiving Dinner that we ordered from The Tavern. As we have never done this before we were a tad skeptical about what it would taste like and how much there would be as there are 7 of us in our family. My daughter had just had foot surgery and could not cook - I'm old and decrepit and just don't cook big dinners any more. Well, let it be said The Tavern totally surprised with Turkey and all the sides plus pumpkin pie for as little as $100 for 8 people. The turkey was delicious as were the sides and I found their dressing was so close to my own I could hardly tell the difference. All of it was home made. There was also enough that we had leftovers too!!! What more could you ask for. No standing in the kitchen cooking all day, lots of visiting and very little cleanup. Wonder if they do Christmas too??? Thanks Tavern - you totally made our holiday! read more

Let me start by saying if you are going to not give me an option on how much to tip, yes they add the tip for you. Then I expect top notch service, food and drinks. I had the fish special the other night the fish was good, but portions were small. Fries were gross, a mixture of small overcooked fries and bigger under cooked. My margarita was weak and had a lot of ice. We were asked often if everything was ok but, honestly I was so hangry I did not gripe because it would have came out terribly. Had the churro dessert and it was over cooked on outside but under cooked on the inside. Waitress said it was fine. I am not dead so I guess it was but for those sensory people it was icky. I had to stop coming here. This was a twice a week place for me but the service is bizarre. Would it kill them to make an effort to act like they appreciate your presence? Apparently yes it would because no matter how many times we get the same server/bartender it's always like they've never seen you. We had heard that the food was really good here so we were looking forward to trying it out. We were disappointed. The couple we were with who had eaten there several times before said the food was definitely not as good as it had been before also. And the service left something to be desired (extremely unprofessional and had no clue what beer was on tap or what wines you had.) With the price as high as it is there, and especially considering the tip is worked into the bill, an expectation is set for the quality of food and service. Expectations were not met. I posted the above review on their Facebook page and received the following response from them: Sorry we didn't win you over as a customer cause you sound like you would be super-fun to have around. We never reward 'milk-toasty' reviews, but we would like to offer to your friends a complimentary appetizer on their next visit. What a waste of money! This place is over priced, the food isn't that great, and the staff are rude and snotty. The place was nearly empty when we arrived, and we couldn't get anyone to look at us, or care enough to come welcome us or seat us. So I eventually went up the woman who was tending bar and asked if someone could help us. She said "Oh, just sit anywhere, and I'll get someone to come wait on you." GEEZE sorry to have bothered you. No hello, no how are you this evening, or anything. We seat ourselves, about 10min later a woman comes out, same attitude as the bar tender, and couldn't force herself to crack a smile the entire time we were there. With the place being mostly empty, we waited about 30-40min for our food. The food came out and it was ok, nothing to brag about.
