I used them last year for a major repair so when I received an email to schedule my maintenance check of my air conditioner I did. My AC worked just fine before the maintenance check happen. It went down hill from there. My AC stoped 3 days later . They said the heat motor died. Yes after the maintenance inspection they did say it was an old ac and not sure how long it would last but it was working before maintenance inspection. Got it replaced. They also said the main fuse box and wiring was bad and needed to be replaced. Nothing was said about that when it was inspected during maintenance . So over $1600 later it was repaired. About 1 1/2 days later in the evening I come home to no AC. Called them and after explaining all that was done at maintenance inspection the guy was rude about sending out a person on a Saturday at 10 pm. But they advertise 24/7 ! He tells me I'm gonna be charged a service charge to send someone out. Really , after spending over $1600 on repairs they did ! I told him I didn't care , it was about 118 degrees that day and I needed to get if fixed being a senior and all. He then asked me if I turned it off then back on. I said I turned it off because it was blowing warm air out. He instructed me to turn it on, it worked ! Until I woke up from it being warm in the house in the early morning the next day. I called to let them know and to have them fix it. This also involved my insurance and the insurance needed to talk to them to see what was wrong. Days later, after not coming out to see what was wrong and being in the heat the week of 116 degrees I called several other companies. One came out within 30 minutes and I explained the story of the maintenance inspection and repairs. He opened the hood of the AC and said I think your condenser cap isn't working. He hooks some wire up to test it and yup it was bad. He puts in a new one and boom ! It works !!! And still is working.... I know my AC is old , as they reminded me of that but to not come out after repairs were done by them , It just isn't right ! Good customer service would have been to send a technician out whether I ask for one since they did the repairs ! read more

Bad company stay away from these people they sold me a maintenance agreement to maintain my unit for 10 years couple thousand dollars and call that labor only currently going to court with them stay away not being honest when the father ran this business it was great but now there's a son running it not so good. read more

Our A/C died during the sweltering 117 temps of the summer! We woke up at 3:00 a.m. to a rapidly warming home. I called John's Refrigeration right then -- at 3:00 in the morning! -- and someone answered the phone on the first ring. The call to schedule our service time came immediately thereafter, and the service man arrived at precisely the appointed time. He rolled out the red carpet -- literally! --- before putting booties on and entering our home. He was the most polite and gracious man -- Chris. Chris got right to work and diagnosed the problem in 15-20 minutes. We gave him the OK to take care of it, and within 30-60 minutes our A/C was back to normal. Rip off artists! I was out and the service tech, Ivan, totally took advantage of my teenage daughter. Charged $180 trip/service fee and left with a $700 bill. Spoke with the manager in protest --after a long song and dance he offered to cut $200 off the outrageous bill. (Sort of like the theft negotiating to give you some of your money back.). I am totally pissed at them---rip off artists. Filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, my credit card company, and a small claims court filing. Can't stand businesses that rip people off. The technician who came out, Tyler, was helpful, knowledgeable, and was able to fix the problem on the spot. He found a couple things that need to be fixed so we will definitely be having John's come back out to do the repair. I have had a maintenance contract on my rental home in Scottsdale with John's Refrigeration for 4 years. We just recently bought a second home here and initiated a service agreement with John's as well. We had our initial inspection today. The technician was here for 5 hours inspecting and repairing our 10 year old system. Every technician from John's is in a complete, clean uniform. They always protect my floors with shoe pads. They are polite as from a time past. They are extremely well educated and trained. They take the time to explain the health of the system, what (if anything) NEEDS to be repaired and anything else that they just SUGGEST to keep in mind for future. They come out twice per year to perform inspections and repairs (as necessary). These services calls are covered in my monthly payment of less than $20 per unit. These folks deserve to earn your business. read more

Requested a free estimate on a replacement heat pump and a estimate to repair a heat pump damaged by a unrepeatable contractor. The guy who arrived was very nice and helpful. He came back and told me there was a charge for the service call. I was not expecting that as I thought it was a free estimate. He called the office and they waived the service call for me. As Good as you could wish for. I recently has a/c problem and called big tv air conditioning company because I saw them on tv being endorsed repeatedly. (obviously you can buy ad time) I was told I needed a compressor at $3,800 plus dollars. After a five minute evaluation of my unit. I phoned my husband because I saw this was a case of a woman alone with no a/c, and being told lets have our comfort squad come to you because you need a new unit. My husband had painted Johns home a week prior, he spoke with him and sent Ivan out the next day. No surprise my compressor is fine. For a fraction of the cost and I had full inspection and other parts that may have caused a problem in the summer fixed. I was impressed with the honesty, cleanliness, respectful treatment. We run our business not to take advantage of anyone but do a fair days work for a fair wage. This is exactly what John's does, even when its 98 degrees and climbing, they don't try to build the bill. Had John's Refrigeration out on July 14th 2015 for a second opinion on what was diagnosed as a locked up compressor with a recommendation by Air Care Heating and Cooling of new unit installation. Taylor was my technician and within a few minutes he reported that the dual capacitor was shot and needed replaced. So for $339.37 my AC was up and running within 30 minutes. It's been two weeks and no problems so clearly there wasn't anything wrong with the compressor and I certainly didn't need a new AC unit (this is only a 10 year old Lennox). Had an issue with my heat pump called Chris at Johns and he came out right away. Told me I needed a new defrost control board to the tune $500! Recommend I replace whole unit. I have no complaints with John's! Yesterday morning I received a call from our tenant in Scottsdale. No A/C. Blowing hot air. Hotter inside than out. I say, "Presto, I have a contract with an A/C company. I'll call right away." I call. He comes at 7:00 that night. I appreciate that part. However, the unit's two parts need to be ordered and picked up. He's scheduling me for Tuesday or Wednesday. Gads, it's Saturday night and that's the best you can do? I get on YELP. I read a lot and do the due diligence. I find John's Refrigeration. I call. I talk to a son of the founder. I tell him my problem. He asks a few questions, I give him a few answers, we schedule a Sunday 8 a.m. appointment, he gets there at 8, and has the motor on his truck. "No need for a fan... it's operating just fine. I can have this thing working in an hour." SOLD. It's more expensive than my A/C guy's estimate, but at least I don't have fried people in my house. When my existing contract runs out with my other refrigeration guy, I'm calling John's. read more

As a single woman, it's often hard to be comfortable with a service technician coming into your home. I was completely comfortable from start to finish with John's Refrigeration. The technician really cared to educate me about my system, and didn't use language that made me feel uneducated (even though I don't know much about my a/c and heating units). He explained a couple upgrades that could be made, but was not pressuring about having them done at that time. He even told me positive things about my system and its set up. Within two hours of the appointment the main office contacted me to make sure the service was satisfactory, and they even set up a call-back for my next evaluation. I purchased a $199.95 performance plan, which includes two major inspections (they even go into your attic) per year, coil cleaning, and then some. Definitely worth the money. And I don't fear them coming back again in May/June to take a look at the A/C unit. Comfortable and courteous. I'll return as a customer. read more

I have used John's Refrigeration for both personal services and as a recommendation for clients. I have always been impressed by their level of service and care for the home. I was at a vacant house on behalf of a client the first time I used them. The AC unit was in the back yard so and there was no access through the side gate, so the technician had to pass through the house several times for equipment or parts from his service van. Each time he would get to the door, put on the shoe covers, walk through the house, and then take the shoe covers off again. Only to put them on again when he returned. He was a younger person than I, but was respectful and professional. He diagnosed the problem the first time and the repair lasted. They have always been on time for appointments, professional and accurate with both their diagnosis and estimates. Highly recommend this company for heating and ac work. read more

Mike came out to inspect and made his recommendations. After getting my ducts all sealed and new registers, I am happy to say I am very pleased! He came back out to balance the air flow, and my house is now comfortable no matter what room I'm in. Just had John's out to my house for the first time; Brian was the service technician. I have used another Valley AC / Plumbing company for years....one which is ALWAYS advertising on the radio. I realize...now...that I have been working with the WRONG company for way too long. :-( Brian was very knowledgeable, low-key, and I did not feel like he was being an alarmist or a salesperson trying to sell me on parts and labor I did not need. At A Child's Place at The Ranches one of our air conditioning units went out. I called John's and they had someone here quickly to determine the problem. We ended up needing a new unit and they got a us a great deal. They were very professional and caring. They know that we take care of kids here and that was a priority to them. Called John's for a weekend emergency service call on my rental unit. Shawn was assigned to the job and went to the address promptly. He determined that the fan motor wasn't running because the "fan starter motor" needed to be replaced. Wanted $298 to do it, which included an $89 service call (no credit for the service call if you use them after their diagnosis). So I spent $209 for a "fan starter motor" PLUS a ridiculous $89 service call charge. Come to find out there is no such thing as a "fan starter motor" but it is a capacitor that you can buy for $60 to $75. I've replaced capacitors on A/C units before and it takes all of 15 mins to do it. When I brought this up to Brian on Monday, he was very courteous, but insisted that the price of $298 was "industry standard". My regular A/C guy said it should have cost around $100. If you don't mind paying high prices, I'd stay away from these typical A/C shisters. I gave them a 2 rating because they did fix the problem and they were very courteous while they fleeced my wallet... Update 16 June - hmmm...interesting to not the Mike T. recently had a similar (although much worse) experience with this company that I had. And then I see the comment from John's owner stating that "...we work hard to satisfy all of our customers." I don't see this happening at all. Read Mike T.'s comments from 13 June and then consider some of the other "satisfied" customers. Joanna O. says she pays $20/mo to have annual maintenance performed on her units. $240/year for an annual maintenance contract? You can have someone come out to your house and service 2 units for $75 a trip. Why do you have to pay $240/yr. Funny how people can't see when they're getting ripped off. STAY AWAY! read more

I received a call very early yesterday morning from our tenant saying that the a/c had gone out. I called John's Refrigeration about 8:15 am and they said they would have someone out there between noon and 3. The person I scheduled the appointment was very nice and helpful. She even asked if I wanted her to contact my tenant directly to schedule the appointment and work their schedule. They called the tenant prior to coming (which was right about noon) to let them know they were on the way. The technician called me with the diagnosis and the cost the of the repairs. It was a very easy and inexpensive repair (thank goodness). He did not try to up sell me on anything. He did offer suggestions for some preventative measures but did not push anything. He offered to email me the suggestions so I could review them to see if I want to do any of them in the future. They had the unit repaired and on their way by 1:15 pm. The tenant said the technician was very polite and courteous. Thank you for such a quick response. I would recommend you to anyone. read more
