When I called to schedule my appointment, I explained everything and was told it sounded like an electrical issue or alternator. Based on that guidance, I had my car towed in. After diagnostics, I was told I needed alternator-related repairs . I picked up my car, drove less than five minutes, and it started smoking again -- the exact same issue I originally brought it in for. Now, instead of owning the misdiagnosis, the service department is suddenly claiming I have a coolant issue, which was never present before and never triggered any warning lights. This feels like new problems are being added instead of admitting the original issue was not properly diagnosed or fixed. Let's be clear: * I came in for stalling and smoking * I paid thousands based on their diagnosis * The problem was not resolved * Now they're changing the story A proper repair shop should: Diagnose the actual cause Verify the repair resolved the symptom Road-test the vehicle before releasing it None of that happened here. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of accountability and professionalism. Being charged thousands only to get your car back in the same condition is unacceptable. If you only need the short version, not only did the sales manager John Groisil treat us with complete disrespect, but the general manager David Coyle almost completely dismissed our situation and did not live up to his promises. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE DISREPUTABLE PEOPLE. They practice sketchy business practices, and do not engage you when you have problems with their vehicles. Now for the long version. In June of 2023, my wife and I bought a used Range Rover Sport from LRC and initially we were happy with the purchase. A few weeks after our purchase, we experienced smoke coming from under the front right off the vehicle. We took it in for service and LR told us it was a loose exhaust pipe and they had the " parts" to fix it. What they didn't tell us is that the part was bolt and this charged us $800 for the repair. Not covered by the warranty. Remember this, it will come back up. Gross. With that out of the way, we drove the vehicle for a couple more months, and we're relatively happy with it until 10/25/2023 when this vehicle with 51,000 miles on it suffered COMPLETE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. I Am Not kidding.  I had the car towed to my local, TRUSTED mechanic and they told me what I heard the most, that there was something that was preventing the event from turning over. The shop could not diagnose further without extensive cost, so I called LR to see if they could help. They did, and this is one of two helpful thing they did. They confirmed the failure and that the engine would need to be replaced.  Knowing that out warranty had expired, I asked Land Rover what they could do to help, and their answer was not good. First, it took me 3 phone calls, all without response, and finally a visit from me just to get someone to speak with me. I think I caught them off guard, but that was my intent since they WOULD NOT return my calls.   I was finally able to get them to give me a quite on replacing the engine, and that would be over $32,000! And no, they would not cover any of those costs! I was also able to get the full maintenance records from the dealer and well, there were some enlightening things in there. But at this point, I had service a mechanic to source and replace the engine, at a less than half the cost quoted by the dealer. In the meantime, the dealer has told me that all regular services has been done on schedule and at the dealership. Fast forward to the engine breakdown. This is where we really uncover the shadiness and lies. My mechanic discovered that the EGR valves were completely blocked and caked with carbon. He also discovered that the turbo assembly was not properly connected to the exhaust (remember the first issue they charged me $800 for?) He also discovered that there was a bolt missing from the exhaust pipe (again, first issue) and tons of blowback on the engine.  Let's dive into the maintenance records for a minute. I found out that Land Rover had PREVIOUS FIXED THE TURBO AND EXHAUST! So basically they attempted to fix and did not, faked fixing it again and charged me for the work! Next, looking at the regular oil changes, it seems that for the first 5 or 6 they did at regular intervals of 5000-6000 miles. However , the last interval was over 17000 miles. That seems absolutely ridiculous and had they done one iota of checks, they would have, and should have changed the oil before they sold that vehicle. Again GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND INCOMPETENCE.  Now after I found this out, I called the dealer corporate headquarters promptly received a call from the general manager. At first he seemed genuinely apologetic and offered to cover some of the repair costs, which they did, and if we wanted to work a deal on another vehicle when this one was repaired, just come to him and he would work with us. But true to the stereotype of a sleazy sales weasel, when I tried to call him (David Coyle), he never returned my calls (3x). So once again I was forced to drive to the dealership to get any acknowledgement at all. I asked him to explain to me what a "Deal" meant and he refused unless I had a vehicle in mind. He did not want to put any effort into assisting us. I was utterly disgusted.  We finally, after 5 months got our car back and had been driving it. A 2017 engine with 10k less miles than the one that failed. Was running great, even drive it to Florida. I changed the oil twice and seemed to be running well, until last Thursday, February 6, 2025, When on our way home from a show, this piece of Garbage failed again! At 50,000ish miles. Right on schedule as it seems.  I want to vomit and again I have no confidence in repairing this vehicle again.  DO NOT BUY A LAND ROVER VEHICLE OF ANY KIND DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM LAND ROVER CARY DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM LEITH AUTOMOTIVE GROUP  EVER  THEY WILL WILLINGLY AND WITHOUT REMORSE TAKE YOUR MONEY AND LEAVE YOU HELPLESS

I appreciated the provision of a nice loaner car, with no hassle getting it. I booked my appointment the day before and drove in early next morning, cautiously, with an engine overheat warning "pull over in safe place" flashing on my dash. They knew this. I arrived opening time 8am. No one contacted me the entire day(!) with a diagnosis/ cost estimate or update of any kind; I was not aware my car would be kept overnight. At 4:50pm, ten minutes before close, I telephoned and was told $2,400(!), it might take 3 days/ 2 nights in the shop. I asked for a detailed estimate and for the second time, gave my email. Still, an estimate was not sent.... That cost estimate was high compared to other mechanics. Standard customer service for an early morning "drop-off" (advance appt.): contact customer by 3pm that day, explain repair, provide a cost estimate for approval. Start work right away, priority to finish if a second day. That did not happen. Nobody seemed to care if it did. For a $200 repair, no big deal- but for $2,000/ 3 days in the shop, IT MATTERS. PRO A loaner car while being repaired repaired with OEM car parts skilled diagnosis of Toyota 24month/ 24,000 mile parts warranty CON left me hanging on diagnosis, repair cost no written description/estimate provided high price compared to competition (corrected at the end) no apology for dropping the ball on service In the end, the actual charge was $1,821.97 which was in line with local estimates, considering the use of OEM parts. I appreciated that adjustment. And it appears they did quality work. Time will tell. Will I go back? Probably not. Lacked valuing me as a high-dollar customer; too much time and drama.

Over the years, they've gotten to know my family and our vehicles well. They've always been clear about what needs fixing now versus what can wait -- something I really appreciate in a shop. No pressure, just honest advice. Most recently, I brought in our 2014 Mazda CX-5 for a North Carolina safety inspection so I could get it registered. While there, I mentioned a pretty annoying AC condensation issue that was flooding the passenger-side footwell. I'd already tracked down one clogged hose thanks to YouTube, but the other one was buried near the firewall and out of reach. They cleared both hoses quickly and affordably -- problem solved. A few months earlier, they also helped with my son's car, doing an inspection and tune-up following his motorcycle accident back in December. Their kindness and professionalism during that time meant a lot to our family. He also lied and gaslighted me when I said I had called and couldn't even leave a voicemail because their phone says voicemail is full. He said he wasn't able to get after market parts, except that also is a lie because I have it at another shop and they are able to get every single piece it needs from Auto Parts outlet in Raleigh, for just under 1500. He told me it would be over 8K to fix it because "all the parts had to be ordered new". Unprofessional, overly aggressive, misogynistic scam artist.
