I've been going to this Precision Tune Auto Care location for about a year, and I enjoy my overall experience with them. I've been going to Precision for regular maintenance and check ups on my vehicle, and all of my experiences have been fairly good - some locations had unprofessional employees at the counter, but not this one. I usually get the engine oil changed at Precision because they top all the fluids and check on my car to let me know if something is wrong. I especially enjoy that they never pressure me to take up on unnecessary services. They tell me as is - I've walked away from this place because I simply didn't feel like fixing the issue at that time, and sometimes I'd fix the issue right then. In either situations, I was treated with professionalism. I also like that whichever location of Precision you go to, they can pull up the service history. So it's pretty convenient when I can't remember which services I've done in the past. This location recently renovated the office/waiting room, and it looks pretty clean! They stained my car seats. Didn't tell me or offer any discount. I found the stain when I got home. I am very upset as this greatly impacts the value of my car! Plus a stain like this is nearly impossible to remove. Not only is this stain here but in the drivers seat it's obvious someone with dirty pants sat down. Do not use these people please! I used this mechanic because they specifically say they are certified to work on imports and any other car. Time after time I would bring the vehicle either being towed in or something going on with the engine. The first couple of times after I bought the vehicle I thought it was normal it is an older car probably needs some maintenance. I took it about 10-15 times in the span of a year and a half spending up to 6-7,000$ on engine work everytime I would come it would be a huge repair job. Everytime I would pick the car up I would ask them is the car serviced and is in working order they would tell me yes and how solid the engine and transmission etc looks and 100-150 miles later the car would have another issue. The people who work here are not very friendly either I asked them why I keep having to come back every other week or every month and they would say this is normal or something like "it's because it's a bmw" this place lacks respect and knowledge on how to work on anything but maybe ford it was my mistake for taking it to this phony shop. The final time I went I got a cog light which means transmission limp mode, I take it and they take 3 days to diagnose it and I'm in school and I have work I had to rent a car from enterprise for 65$ a day by the time they checked the car they gave me the worse news any car owner could hear that the transmission was gone. Thankfully I didn't take there word for it I ended up taking it to a euro shop there was nothing wrong with the transmission all it needed was some drained out and some new transmission fluid. The district manager had the audacity to tell me that BMW saids don't change the transmission fluid and that they aren't required to look at it. So your telling me when someone comes to get there car checked you don't check the cars transmission fluid. I saved my self from buying a new transmission thankfully. This place needs to be audited by someone because this is consumer fraud. I repeat if you don't want to feel like you got scammed to not use these folks. BTW I called your corporate office and left countless voicemails from the last week and still no one has given me a call these people think they can get away with ripping off people on imports. They can't be certified. I owned the car for a year and a half and half of the time it was parked in there auto shop making up auto repairs that were never the issue. I was lucky enough to find myself at Precision Tune South Pine after being given the runaround by another shop in the area. Even though this location didn't have access to the Carmax service system, Jack, the manager, came up with a solution and was able to complete the warranty work on my car--and quickly! It was obvious from observation during my wait, that Jack is a first class manager. Excellent at explaining required work to customers with respect, patience and knowledge. On 04/04/2023 I took my 2003 Ford F-150 to the Precision Tune at 119 Small Pine Dr. in Raleigh, NC because the check engine light was on, and it was idling rough when it was in drive and at a stop. Later that evening they called to tell me that they found a vacuum leak where the gromets for the intake manifold runner control valve were broken. The next evening they called and said the runner control valve was no good either and had to be replaced. I don't remember what the original quote was, but with the valve now having to be replaced the price went up considerably; after everything the total was $1723.28 out the door. Expensive, but I figured "well at least it comes with a two year warranty on parts and labor". Fast forward to a about a week before Christmas, and the service engine soon light came on. I have my own OBD2 scanner, I put it on, and there was one code P1518 "runner control valve stuck in the open position". This was the valve that they had replaced. I took it back to the shop on 12/19/2023, explained the situation, and dropped it off. Later that day the "front desk person" called and told me that they "tested" the valve and everything was fine with it, but my lower intake manifold is all clogged up from age, burning oil, and running too rich or too lean, etc. The only thing that they can offer is to charge me to either replace the lower intake manifold "and they don't even know where they would get a new one", or have the lower intake manifold sent off to a machine shop "and they don't even know which one to send it to and would have to call around". They kept asking me "how far do I want to go with it". Mind you, this is all based on their best guess as to what was going on. To truly determine the problem they would have to in their own words "tear the engine down", which they wouldn't do unless I agreed to pay the labor for them to do so. In addition, at the time of the original service I had paid for the "premium air induction cleaning" which is supposed to clean the air intake system among other things. When I brought this up "front desk person" got defensive and was like "yeah...I saw that...I saw that...", and then proceeded to try to explain to me how the "premium air induction cleaning" doesn't make it to the lower intake manifold. After some thought I called back and told them that I was going to come and get my truck if they were done with their "diagnosis", as I didn't have the money to proceed with what they were suggesting. When I got to the shop everyone there was sitting down looking at their phone. I got to talk to the mechanic who told me "well the premium air induction does make it to the lower intake manifold, but mine is just too gunked up for that to clean", and "that 4.2L V6 is just one of those oddball engines", and "it wouldn't even be worth it to change the engine if they could find one", and "he doesn't want to take my money like that, he'll take it for something else, but not for that". So, I took my truck back home. When I got the truck back home I noticed the engine hood wasn't even shut properly, which is extremely negligent and dangerous. Thank God I didn't have to drive too far or get on the highway, or who knows what could have happened. I went on Nextdoor to find a mechanic that was trustworthy and recommended by many people. I called them, and they said that for $119 diagnostic fee they would tell me definitively what the problem was, so I took it there. They called back and said it was the Runner Control Valve (the valve Precision Tune had originally replaced which was still by far under warranty), and they replaced it for a lot cheaper than Precision Tune did, and now my truck is running great again. I called the customer service number 1800 227-8863 twice, and each time left a voice message for Ronnie; I also sent and email to customerservice@ptautocare.com, and as of this writing a month later they have made no attempt to contact me back. This whole process has been an emotional and time consuming drain that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Luckily I had the extra money to have it fixed somewhere else, which tapped me out for the holidays, which I spent without a vehicle, or I don't know what I would have done. I am writing this to strongly advise anyone that needs their vehicle serviced to take it somewhere else, as in my experience, the warranty on parts and labor, which you're paying a hefty premium for, at their discretion may not be honored. In addition, for whatever it's worth, let it be known that I am a service connected disabled Army Veteran. read more

Came here for an alignment for my Toyota Sienna. Nevermind that I had to wait 3-1/2 hours in their 3-chair 'lobby'. Precision Tune was offering FREE alignment checks. After all this time the lady manager finally came out and told the specs of my 'free check". So they went ahead and did WITHOUT my consent. As I drove away I noticed that the pull to the right was even worse! I took back a few days later and the technician said it was fixed. By the way, I don't think any of the technicians are ASE certified, which you really want to ensure the best care for your car ! They DID NOT even take it for a test drive. It was the same. I spent nearly 6-hours in total and in the end I took it to take to CarFIx, who are excellent. So I was charge $69.99 for something I was not even asked to perform. I am disputing my charge for which I will eventually be reimbursed. I would tell you to avoid this place like the PLAGUE !! read more

My daughter had a brake issue with the family truck. It wasn't stopping. So based on the emergency situation, situation they pulled the truck into this shop. It wound up being air in the brake lines due to leaking rear wheel cylinders. This place diagnosed that the wheel cylinders needed to be replaced and the lines bled. I used to work in this industry and I know brakes and front end repair. It was unfortunate that they didn't call me before they had this work done. But that doesn't negate the prices this shop is charging for simple repairs. Shops are in the business to make money and I understand that. But there is also unethical treatment of customers and gouging that goes on unreported. Replacing the rear wheel cylinders on a 96 Chevy truck should be a 2 hr job no more. Most shops use standard labor rate guides to ensure they are getting and charging the public properly for labor. This shop uses "All Data" labor chart, and claims this job calls for 2.8 hrs. Chilton's Labor rate calls for 1.8 hrs for both sides including a bleed out. Estimates from other shops after the fact revealed the job should have cost between $160 and $180 to replace 2 rear wheel cylinders and bleed the system. The Job You jack the car up, take the wheels off, dismantle the brakes and take the shoes off (for a full inspection including hardware integrity) . Disconnect the brake line from the wheel cylinders. Remove 2 small bolts holding the old brake cylinders on and install the new ones. Bleeding the rear brakes should be part of the labor. My Daughter was charged $416.00 for a job that three other shops provided estimates of ~$170.00 Quite simply, this is price gouging. The shop clerk said there was nothing he could do as All Data stipulated 2.8 hrs @ $90.00/hr for labor. Replacement wheel cylinders were $62.50. They also added a brake bleed for $50.00 and charged shop disposal fees and obvious tax. After getting estimates, my daughter called this shop back and asked what the it would cost to have 2 wheel cylinders replaced and bled out. The manager (different guy than the original clerk) quoted her $212.00 for the job. Remember she had already paid $417.00 for the same job. She went on to say she got estimates between $160 and $180. The manager said he would match the price with a written estimate. So she went in to talk to the manager who went home early because he had a medical issue and was left to deal with the same clerk they originally dealt with. So we are now waiting to talk to the district manager for a price adjustment as the clerk is not empowered to change anything. I will post an update "IF" we get the proper refund. If not, buyer beware all consumers be advised to stay away from this place. Fuquay Tire and WhiteHall (Raleigh Hillsborough St) provided the other two "FAIR" price estimates. read more

I'm not allowed to give 0 stars DO NOT GO TO THIS PRECISION TUNE!!! I took my car in for a tune up back in January. Precision Tune charged me $163 for the purchase and installation of new spark plugs. Two months later I start my car and find a bunch of lights lit up on my instrument cluster. I took the car to the dealership where I bought it and the service rep tells me that the lights came on because I had a fouled plug and I needed a tune-up. I told the service rep there must be some mistake, as I had just gotten a tune up 2 months ago. Service Rep tells me that these were the parts that came on the car when I bought it. He told me they were far too old and deteriorated to have been on the car for only a couple months. I get paperwork from the service rep stating that the plugs were old and never changed. I went back to Precision Tune and ask to have the money refunded for the service that I never received. They gave me a phone number to the head office in Cary and told me I had to talk to those people. I have placed 5 phone calls to the Cary office in the past 4 days, and no one has returned my call yet. I called the corporate headquarters and the person I spoke with told me that he were trying to get in touch with the Cary office and that he would have someone from the Cary office contact me. Still have not heard from them. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and will take this even farther if I must. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRECISION TUNE, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! read more

I would like to start off by saying that I know very little about cars and I'm not going to pretend like I do. So when a mechanic tells me what's wrong with my car, I tend to believe them. But that doesn't mean I deserve to be scammed. I just moved here and my check engine light came on. I've previously been to Precision Tune shops in other areas and always had PHENOMENAL service so I put my trust in the brand name and went on in. I already knew the code reading for my engine troubles and asked for an oil change while I was in there. I talked to the SM, Kyle, and he seemed really genuine and nice. And then all of that rapport we had built went to garbage when he tried to charge me over $700 to replace the whole intake manifold in my car. Which did NOT need to be done. I cried in the shop trying to figure out how to pay for it. But I trusted the guy and my usual panel of men in my life that I go to for car advice were not answering their phone. I Ubered home and my dad finally answered and told me to call the shop immediately and cancel the repair because I was being ripped off. They went through with the oil change and tire rotation and finally called me to say my car was ready to be picked up right before they closed at 6 (mind you I went in there at 10). I went to pick up my car, paid the almost $400 they charged me for labor and the $80 diagnostic fee and I got out of there as soon as I could. The worst part of it was that the terror didn't end there. On my way out of town the next morning, I HAD TO PULL OVER TO TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS ON MY TIRES. I guess they didn't think to take it around the block after rotating my tires to check to see if the tires were even attached to the car properly. This place is great for oil changes because the price is fixed, but they will take you for your last cent if you let them. I am disgusted with this place and will never go back. Just because I am a young female does not mean I deserve to be ripped off and treated like garbage. I hope none of their daughters get treated like this. read more

This auto shop is the worse! My boyfriend came here with a small problem in his truck that we later found out would've cost half the price anywhere else. They then found an additional problem with the truck and we decided we would just let them finish working on since it was already there. When we got in the truck, it smelt really bad like gas but we thought it was normal because one of the things it had done was a replacement of the gas pump, the next day we went to put gas in it and to our surprise the gas started overflowing and spilling all over us, the truck, the gas station floor. My boyfriend then saw they had forgotten to plug the pump back up!! Like how you do forget to do that? That's such a hazard. And through all of this the costumer service and communication was also terrible. Unprofessional and unreliable. Spend your money somewhere else, this place is not worth the headache. read more

I've been getting oil changes and repairs from Precision Tune for over 15 years at the Cary and Raleigh locations. In the last five years, I've been going to the Garner location on Small Pines Drive. There, they continued to live up to, what I thought at the time, was a great reputation until last Saturday, 1/18/20. I had brought my Acura MDX to them, earlier that week, because I'd been hearing a knocking noise under my hood. Manager Kyle couldn't find where the noise was coming from so he asked me to come back when I had more time for his mechanic to diagnose the problem. I did that Saturday and Kyle asked his mechanic, Johnny, to diagnose the problem. About 30 minutes later Kyle told me it was my motor. He showed me why he thought so, while Johnny confirmed what he was telling me. He then told me that he will give me prices of manufactured, low mileage, and high mileage motors, so I could determine which one I could afford, plus the cost of labor. I was looking at between $8k - $12k. I went to my Acura Dealership that Monday and before their mechanic even looked at it the representative told me it sounded like the timing belt, and that's exactly what it was. I called Kyle while waiting for my MDX to be fixed. I asked Kyle if he had the prices for the motors, he said no. I then asked him if I should trust him and his diagnosis? Although he hesitated, he confirmed it was the motor. I then told him where I was and it wasn't the motor. I analyzed the situation, wondering if he did this purposely or not and I came to the conclusion that he did because I gave him the opportunity the come clean and he didn't. I needed a timing belt and sealant for my oil pump because there was a small leak. Total price $1,200. No more noise, I saved several thousands of dollars and it runs like it's brand new. This is a prime example of why most people don't trust mechanics and auto shops, and now I'm one of them. read more

I wish I could use a negative star rating. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THIS PLACE HAS TO SAY. AND DO NOT HAVE DAVE LOOK AT YOUR CAR. I brought a car to this location for a Pre-owner Inspection, after an hour of the Mechanic looking at the car he gave me my paper work and told me what was wrong with the car. I asked about the Transmission and he stated that it was looked at and the fluid looked good (it was also stated on my paper work that the fluid was checked and looked good). After purchasing the car about 2 weeks later my transmission went out on the car and after bringing it to another mechanic he told and showed me the transmission fluid was never flushed and looked to be the original fluid. After calling Precision back to talk about this Dave informed me he looked under the hood at the transmission fluid dip stick, (my car BTW is a VW Passat 03) There is no transmission dip stick under the hood. So he should have never looked at my car if he didn't know what he was doing. After filing a claim with Corporate the Reginal Manager BJ stated they are only willing to refund the $84 for the inspection. I am now taking them to small claims court for the priec of the transmission, which there response to that was we dont care. This company should be out of buisness and not trusted. I will be updating this as to the result of the case. If I was anyone with car problems I would go somewhere else. read more

I stopped by the shop and Brandon immediately came with his anticipated diagnosis being correct, that when the service was done my air filter had been knocked out of place causing the throttle to overcompensate resulting in poor engine behavior. I went to get oil change and tire rotation yesterday. When I picked the my vesicle up I went outside to look to see if the tires had been rotated. Last time I went here to get oil and tire rotation, the tires were not rotated. However, I noticed after I left. I knew for a fact that they were not rotated because I had purchased 2 new tires and those 2 new tires were in the same location as they were when I dropped my car off. I didn't call or go back because I had already left and I was going to buy 2 more tires soon there after. This time I was prepared to see if the tires would be rotated. So yesterday when I came back into the building to inform the guy at the counter that the tires had not been rotated, he immediately asked me "why do I think they have not been rotated"? I replied because I know they have not. He checks the ticket and proceeded to go outside into the service area to ask the tech were they rotated. Of course the tech says they were. I, again tell him they had not been rotated. He asks the tech again, and the tech says yes and another tech helped him rotate the tires. The guy at the front counter tells me sarcastically that "they can rotate the tires AGAIN, if I would like them too. He never asked how did I know that the tires were not rotated he rather go back in forth with me to argue that they had been. So I finally told him that the brake dust from the front tires are still in the same location AND I put a X (keep in mind the last time I came here they didn't rotate the tires so I was prepared this time around) on the front 2 tires so that I will know for a fact that they had been rotated. After I said that he then walks outside to look at the brake dust that I mentioned and X on tires. After he realizes what I was saying was true he, tells me that they will rotate the tires. Come to find out the tech only rotated 1 side! As simple as rotating tires is why would I lie about it? I don't want to be there any longer than I have to because I had to go back to work. Why is it ok to argue with a customer about a simple tire rotation and not ask questions. I have only come to this location out of convenience and having a coupon for oil change and tire rotation. I will no longer be coming here. I'd rather pay more money and be treated with better customer service. read more

My family frequently uses Precision Auto Care for our oil changes. We have grown accustomed to their suggestions that we need additional repairs on the car, even when our regular car care specialist tells us otherwise. We use the service basically because it seems the best deal in town for a standard oil change. Today however, I realized how wrong I have been. I had a coupon for $16.99 which I handed in. Upon completion of the oil change, I was charged $21 and change. I immediately asked if they had taken the coupon price and was told yes. I signed my credit card receipt and received the bill only to find that they had indeed not taken off the $2. I questioned again and was told, it had been discounted but the $21 was because of parts and tax. When I pushed it with "That would represent almost 20% tax!", I was told it is only $2 anyway. Next, he obliged me with an offer to credit it to my next service there to which I replied, "No, but you can give me cash if you don't know how to work the credit card machine." Finally, he decided to credit me the difference on my card. I have never had such a difficult time begging for my money back. Real customer service workers would be apologizing for their error, not belittling my petty desire to have my own money. And if $2 is no big deal, why do they charge and extra dollar and change for supplies on top of the the "parts and labor" cost of the oil change. read more
