I have been searching for years to find another place that has bourbon chicken!!! I'm so happy I finally found this place and shared my discovery with my family. My dad was recovering from surgery in a hospital close by, so my brother and I were sent out to get the some dinner and bring it back to the hospital. We came back with so much food and it smelled incredible! My parents got their own dinner but eventually had some of our's because it smelled so amazing. Even the hospital staff asked where we got it from since they could smell it down the hall. We ordered carry out in person and it was ready in 15 minutes. My brother and I were able to kill time somewhere close by. The woman who took our order was very helpful since we had such a large order. We got Bourbon Chicken with a side of fried rice, Beef Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. I am sure we got more, but those were the main dishes I remembered off the top of my head. I definitely want to come back for lunch, as does my family since my parents didn't get to fully experience it. I am looking forward to my next trip! read more

I can always rely on consistently delicious Chinese takeout. A great variety with many options including brown rice and vegetarian.

Despite having lived near this place for some time, we had not tried it until yesterday. We were delighted with the food! I ordered online at our order was ready when I arrived. Everything was hot and fresh. A wonderful treat. We had the bourbon chicken and the shrimp lo mein - two of our favorites. The portions were enough for two meals each, and it was all very tasty. Love, love, love this place! This is one of my favorite places to grab Chinese food when I have that craving. The service is great. The food is always delicious and prepared to order. The staff are responsive to phone calls on the first few rings and provide very accurate timings on pickups. When you pick up your food, the staff sometimes will provide a treat or drink as well. My go to order is the sesame chicken with white steamed rice. My husband gets the black pepper chicken. Both are deliciously made the same way every time. I cannot recommend this place enough! I am picky when it comes to Americanized Chinese food but I am always open to different places. Sometimes it is great and I am glad to have tried a 'new' place and sometimes I wish I just hadn't. Johnny Chans falls in the I'm glad I tried it category. As the usual case, I was on the road for work and I don't like going out when I get to the hotel. I got online, picked Johnny Chans from a short list of Chinese eateries and placed my order. I am also a creature of habit so General Tso's and an egg roll was my dinner selection that evening. Ordering delivery can be hit or miss sometimes and I am glad to report that Johnny Chan's is on top of it with delivery. My order was cooked and delivered to me in no time at all! My General Tso's chicken was hot, crispy, and not overly coated in a sickeningly sweet sauce. There was a lot of chicken there and when added the stuffed to the brim container of rice, I had enough food to make two meals. The egg roll was decent. It was a typical mass produced egg roll but obviously not the cheapest option the restaurant had to choose from. It was crispy and stuffed with plenty of cabbage and pork. The hot mustard was your run of the mill packaged stuff which all Chinese takeaways have. It would be nice to see some place make their own hot mustard because there is no comparison between the two. I guess that will be on my wish list. Any Chinese takeaways listening? lol Not including tip, I spent $17.28 for food the actual made two meals so I'd say that was a good deal! If you ever find yourself just north of Cincinnati in the Sharonville area, why not grab something from Johnny Chan's? It is tasty and a good value. read more

I wanted some good Chinese food for New Year's Eve, I looked at board of health grades and picked this one instead of others nearby. The food was delicious, General Taos, Lo Mein and egg rolls. The egg rolls were nice and crispy, even to go, but had a peanut butter flavor to them which I didn't care for. The dinners and fried rice very good. They were so busy with take out but got our order done quickly. The dining area small and the place could use some updates like new ceiling tiles, but it seems to be more of take out business. Ordered pickup on Christmas and they quoted me 1 hour. Went in 1 hour later and found the typical Christmas chaos of people trying to order and door dashers getting pick up orders and the phone ringing nonstop. Even with all of this, I only waited about 5 minutes past the hour mark and all of my food was hot and correct. I was very impressed with how they handled the madness. We ordered only American-Chinese lunch specials but it looks like you can order a few authentic dishes there. Highly recommend Mongolian beef. Their version is the best I've had in my life. A bit smoky, not too much brown sauce, green onions, lots of beef for $8, what can you ask for? The string beans with/without protein is my next favorite. They're not the friendly type but they're not rude. However, their fried rice is kinda disappointing! I think some parts were undercooked. C'mon you are Chinese, you should master this dish. Maybe if you order a full order, it may be better? We will still come back but avoid the fried rice. read more

Was looking gut a good Chinese place in Door Dash. Thus place was rated as #2 for Chinese to we gave it a try. It was very average. Not a lot of flavor. Saw it had good reviews and my boyfriend highly recommended it. He lived in the area 10 years ago and really liked it. I just moved here from Michigan and was looking for a go-to Chinese takeout place. Ordered lunch from here last week. It was average. Portion was on the small side. I ordered Human Chicken and there wasn't a whole lot of flavor. Traditionally black bean sauce is used in Hunan Chicken, but I noticed the people in the kitchen were speaking Cantonese so that explains why. I have to say their spring rolls were one of the best I've had, small and crispy, and you get two with your lunch special. The price on the dinner menu is kind of high. I'll order dinner next time to check it out. I'll keep looking for a real Szechuan Chinese restaurant. read more

No smile, no friendly greeting, and refusal to honor the buy-one-get one meal coupon they had chosen to include in a paid consumer book/app.We had read good reviews about the food here, and since we had a BOGO coupon from a City Saver app we had purchased & my husband was home with a cold, we decided to try it out for dinner (even though it meant an extra 40 min of driving & was not on my way.) Before driving that distance, I called my husband to check any restrictions that might be listed for the coupon, such as requiring dine-in vs carry-out. THERE WERE NO RESTRICTIONS LISTED. I waited in line, placed my order, clicked the "redeem now" option as directed by the girl behind the counter (which uses the coupon so you can't use it again) and as I was preparing to pay the girl asked her superior about it, and I was told I couldn't use it because it was only for dine in. I showed her the wording and that there was nothing to indicate that on the listing or the coupon. I explained that my husband was home, so I couldn't dine in & that I had just spent considerable time and gas driving to their restaurant because the coupon mentioned nothing about dining in. She expressed zero empathy, care or friendliness & just continued to insist that they would not honor it. The dining area was empty at 7pm on a Friday night! With that type of customer service, I'm not surprised. Sadly I cannot comment on the actual food because I never got to taste it. Thoroughly disappointed & hungry! This was my first time at this restaurant and I loved it. We brought the family to expand their experience with Chinese food. We ordered spicy orange chicken, lo mein, and crab rangoon (I love crB rangoon). The kids were surprised they really liked the food for the most part. They have a very large selection of regular and hot/spicy foods and will tailor the heat level to your request. In town with my granddaughter and I came upon Johnny Chan by accident. Googled it and saw good reviews. My first order was shrimp mei fun. Absolutely the best I've ever had hands down! Johnny Chan's on Fields Ertel Rd. is our go-to Chinese takeout option right now. I started going here when I first moved to the Cincinnati area because it was near my hotel, and now we still order from here even though it's a bit more out of my way when going home from work. We typically get General's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Yu Hsiang chicken, Singapore Mei Fun noodles. All are pretty good. They have good pot stickers, although sometimes they are a bit too doughy. Egg rolls, crab rangoon, and hot & sour soup are the typical fare you find in other places. I do wish they had homemade crab rangoon, as that would really set them apart from the other places in the area that I have tried. They do have seating available in the store, but they do a pretty brisk takeout business in the evenings. read more

Staying at the Marriott and figured I would try and eat some Chinese food for dinner. This was the best reviewed, so I went with it. I always get sesame chicken and potstickers. I ended up getting both, as well as green bean and pork with rice. Great portions, sesame chicken was pretty darn good. Sauce was tasty, chicken wasn't overdone. The potstickers were thick! And I mean stuffed, like super well. The filling was good, the sauce was also good. The egg drop soup was decent, nothing special. Egg roll is pretty crispy and good. The pork and green beans was a good choice. I wish I didn't get it because I am waaaay too full haha. Anyways, it is worth trying for sure. read more

This is my favorite place to order Chinese takeout! I moved to Hyde Park 5 years ago and still come out here to order food. Food is always ready 10-15 minutes after I call. They are very friendly and accurate when putting together my order. We have ordered multiple things over the years but our go to favorites are sweet and sour pork, beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, general tsos chicken, and cashew chicken. Fantastic! I'm new to the Cincinnati area and am lucky to have found Johnny Chan. I would recommend getting takeout because the location lacks on atmosphere. However, whatever they lack on atmosphere they make up in taste, authenticity and quality. Please be ambitious enough to venture off the American/Chinese menu and over to Chinese menu. We had Singapore Chow Mei Fun (a thin rice noodle with a yellow curry sauce) and Tofu Hot Pot which is a delicious amalgamation of fried tofu, stir-fried vegetables and meats. But please, experiment with the other dishes... at $5-$10 dollars a dish (and can feed 2-3 each) it's easy to try out different options. We also ordered Mapo Tofu which was not on either menu, but they were happy to prepare for us. read more

Not sure what all the rave is about.. Hubs and I picked up Chinese for takeout and were sorely disappointed. The spot itself is nothing exciting, and it would be forgivable if the food were actually ok. Sadly this just wasn't the case. I ordered chicken fried rice, potstickers and Hunan beef. The potstickers tasted bland - overly fried, just pork, not even a trace of veggies in it. The chicken fried rice was no good either. No flavor, basic diced carrots and peas, with small shreds of white tasteless chicken. The only flavor I got was from the soy sauce I added. The Hunan beef (with veggies) was ok, good proportions, but not worth the price. The food in total was $23, and I would never have paid that much for bland, tasteless, useless food.
