Ordered take out 03/29/25 from Lee's on Pleasant Avenue; We ordered (C27) orange chicken dinner I felt like it was over cooked and a little dry an paid $10.25 also order (C10) Pepper steak a lot of pepper and onion but no steak and fried rice seem lumpy and hard; very disappointed with this dinner combo; thank god we invested the extra for the chicken egg roll for $1.50 more for each entrée or we would of been starving. read more

Great takeout Chinese. It's always our first choice for takeout. I recommend the moo shu pork (they don't make the pancakes, but I don't mind) and the Singapore noodle. Food was one star. Some of the most mediocre Chinese food I've ever had. Used the wrong batter for the sweet and sour - it almost had a corn meal texture instead of smooth. The shrimp egg foo young tasted like how dog excrement smells. I was chewing in disgust. I don't know what ingredients they use or cooking process but they need to stop and revamp the whole thing. The food was GREASY. I hungrily bit into the shrimp toast and a burst of oil dripped all over my lips .. and that's not as sexy as it sounds. I had to spit that out and wipe my mouth. Man. Lee's is a true gem tucked away in downtown Fairfield. It completely family owned and operated, with not only Mr. And Mrs. Lee, but Grandma as well. So far I've probably tried ten or so dishes. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are almost enough for two meals. Our office goes there for carry out at least once a week for their lunch specials. Occasionally, when we have to work late we pick up their dinners, which are similar to lunch, but larger, for only a dollar or so more. Most specials include the drink, and their (sweet) ice tea is excellent. Although we always go in for carry out, the is limited seating in the front. Take note, this is not a buffet style restaurant, like so many Chinese restaurants are these days. However, the food is cooked fresh in the wok right there on the spot while you wait, and therefore it isn't sitting in a warming tray under hot lights all day. The next time you find yourself in Fairfield and are hungry for Chinese, make sure to check out this little family run hole in the wall - it's more than worth it! read more

The food is your basic Chinese menu. Nothing stands out here. Prices are adequately based for the portions you get. For me, the seasoning seems to be missing especially in their spicy items. We've been in Fairfield a little over a year, and we haven't gone anywhere else for Chinese (except one Sunday since they were closed, and it was horrible). They are always so polite and speedy. Bad as I hate to say it Lee's has gone downhill since the owners sold out last year - or was it the year before? I used to look forward to getting my weekly takeout and a big smile from the owners but particularly since Covid the food has fallen off a notch or two and the guy that takes your order over the phone and cashes you out is very unfriendly. If your meal comes with a pop you have to ask for it or they just keep it. I can take mediocre food from nice people but if you don't even speak to me but point to signs I'm kinda over it. This place is a hidden gem and the staff is very very friendly and professional as well as fast! The rice is always fluffy and not sticky. The chicken is always crispy on the outside and white juicy chicken on the inside. (Speaking of the sweet and sour chicken) the crab rangoons are the best that i have found so far! They're amazing! The egg rolls are made fresh by hand in the back, and I suggest you order at least one extra they are that good. I also recommend any of the chicken dishes, sesame chicken being my favorite: i is flavorful, delicious and not just a generic sauce. I always get a combo meal and can hardly finish it there is so much food (and the additional egg roll of course). They are open at 4 till late and only take 10/15 minutes for everything to be ready. Lee's is a little dive place in Fairfield that has pretty good Chinese food. Prices are fair, but be careful, it can add up quick. Their Kung Pao Chicken is great. I would have given it a 4 star for the food but honestly the place needs a bit of a cleaning in the foyer and the bathroom needs a thorough scrubbing.
