Not impressed! Went in for the $6 cheeseburger special. I ordered the cheeseburger with a side order of fries and unsweetened ice tea. The hamburger patty was overcooked and dry except for the very center. If the hamburger patty was cooked like the center throughout, it would have been perfectly cooked. But it wasn't, so it was very dry. It barely had a piece of lettuce and a slim slice of tomato. Very disappointed with the cheeseburger, good thing it was only $6. The fries on the other hand were delicious. They were wedged cut fries and they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and seasoned perfectly. They were the best part of the meal. The downside is it was a small portion of fries and they were very overpriced at $4. The ice tea was good. The hostess was welcoming and pleasant. Our waitress was polite and friendly. She asked if I was ready to order and I said i needed a little more time. I was looking over the menu to see if there was anything else I'd rather have than the $6 cheeseburger special. She didn't come back until after about 15 minutes. She took my order and when my order was ready she brought it out. She never came back to the table to see if I needed a refill or if I needed anything else. I had to flag her down to get my check. She was young, so I don't know if she was inexperienced or busy looking at her phone or what. But she definitely needs more training on how to be a good waitress. It was very quiet in the restaurant. That's because I was practically the only customer in there. I think I saw 2 customers in the bar area. I really don't know how this place keeps their doors open. Every time I've been here, they're never busy. The only reason I'm not giving them a 2 star review is because I come here about once a month and this is the first disappointing meal I've had. read more

February 2026 1. I searched for over an hour trying to find the Famous Dave's. Turns out, this to-go only counter is located inside CARINO'S. There are no markings on the outside of the building whatsoever indicative that Famous Dave's has any presence in the building. "If you don't know, then you don't know." 2. I got there when it opened at 1115am. The "host" had no clue what he was doing - didn't know how to access the FD system, whether any of the FD food was ready, or how to input my order into the computer. He had to "go ask the manager" 3 separate times what to do. Note: there was a question whether FD ribs were ready bc they normally aren't available until after 330pm. 3. I tried to order online for pickup, but the website said it was too early. But when Host finally figured out how to ring me up, both the pre-tax and post-tax prices more expensive than what i saw online. So, i tried placing the order online again, but it would not let me schedule a pickup time any earlier than 330pm - it was 1130am at the time. I asked what we should do. Host got the manager involved. Note: while Host retrieved the manager, i looked at the CARRINO'S menu, noticing it also has ribs listed as an option but without any connection to FD. When the manager finally arrived, I showed him the pre-tax prices were different. In his most condescending, incredulous, and indignant tone, he shouted "that's BEFORE TAX." So, I showed him the after tax difference - proving i was right and being honest. He exasperatedly acknowledged the difference. Then, acting as if he was doing me the greatest favor, said he would reduce the in-house charge to match the online charge to circumvent the need to order online. Good solution, garbage attitude. 4. Now suspicious, i began asking the Manager about the relationship between CARRION'S and FD. He had no idea how to answer basic questions and became visibly uncomfortable. 5. So, I canceled the whole order. The host was incompetent, the manager was unreasonably offensive, and i got the distinct impression some kind of under-the-table shenanigans are being played here. E.g. I wonder if they were going to give me their in-house ribs instead of the FD version. Is there even a difference? Neither the manager nor host could explain. Final thoughts: FD should pull their license agreement - assuming one even exists - and find a place/partner more suitable for high standards and quality service. I've been a fan of Famous Dave's for over a decade and it's one of my favorite places to go. I hate to see such a great company represented in such a substandard way. I wont be back to this location. read more

I love Johnny Carino's...especially when using the app and signing up for texts. They offered a free thin crust pepperoni pizza. They sent me this text: "WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY Thank you for signing up for the Johnny Carino's email club. I went there after a 13-mile run and was very hungry. I showed the offer, and they went to prepare the pizza. Within 12 minutes, it was ready and looked delicious! The ambiance in the restaurant is nice, but I took the pizza home and devoured it! The toppings were delicious, and the crust was nice and crispy. Arrived shortly after 4:00 pm today. Not crowded only 3 tables (including ours) had customers. Ordered baked tortellini supposed to be served with meat sauce. The sauce looked like thousand island dressing without meat. Once our food was served our server walked by our table 4 times and not once did he stop to ask how we were doing or how was our food. Our server finally came by asked how everything was and when questioned about the sauce for the tortellini, he said they get the regular meat sauce and mix it with Alfredo sauce. In my opinion, not a good idea. Since I returned the back tortellini dish, our server gave us credit for that dish. read more

This was one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at in my whole life. The service is absolutely terrible. We were served with PLASTIC CUTLERY AND USE AND THROW PLATES. There was hair in our STYROFOAM CUPS and there was zero ice to be found anywhere. A few other tables got actual bowls for bread but instead we waited 20 minutes, finished our food then FINALLY they gave us bread on a plastic use and throw plate. The restrooms oh lord are disgusting THERE IS SHIT ON THE TOILET SEAT. Like who even manages this place to make it this bad. The food has no flavoring, and the chicken tastes like it was from a can. Stopped in to enjoy some lunch, and should have known better by the fact the parking lot was empty. There was maybe 3 other families seated in the entire restaurant when we walked in, so was fairly quiet. We were seated fairly quickly by a nice young man. My son and I were sitting at the table waiting for my husband to return from the restroom, and as I grabbed the menus to hand them out, a bug crawled from under the menus. At first I thought it was a fly, as it disappeared under the opposite side of the table. As my husband returned, my son and ai noticed another bug crawling on the wall next to him, and that original bug crawling back on the top of the table again. Not 100% certain it was a roach, however I am pretty confident it was a roach (didn't have my glasses on to confirm for sure but DID ask my son). This was our first visit to Johnny Carino's. We arrived around 8PM on a Friday night and were seated immediately. Our server (Hayden) brought us super hot fresh (as all bread should be haha) bread while we waited. The moment we finished it he brought out more which I thought was really impressive. We were getting full on salad and bread before our entrees even could arrive I really wanted a mushroom ravioli but couldn't figure out what I was craving. I ultimately made a custom cheese ravioli which our server was happy to do and it turned out amazing. See photos of my cheese ravioli, add mushrooms and tomato I wish the mushrooms were whole/bigger pieces instead of tiny pieces but it was so savory and awesome anyway. It was served with a layer of cheese on top that was browned and crispy like on a pizza, the kind of gooey cheesy that makes your mouth water. They should totally add a vegetable ravioli dish like this the menu. While they do have vegetarian options, I felt like this restaurant was not super vegetarian-friendly/forward (Italian diet/cuisine really doesn't contain all whole lot of meat) but that is the case with most restaurants in the US. Adding a vegetable/vegetarian section would do a lot for the menu/restaurant and reach more customers. That said, they still have options. My partner had the lobster ravioli which was decadent. I also tried her house salad and the ranch was excellent, creamy without overdoing it (I am super picky about ranch). The ranch was so good I overall preferred the house over the caesar salad. We ordered a Bellini (it's frozen, not what I was expecting for a Bellini) and the Amalfi strawberry lemon, would definitely order the lemonade again, very refreshing. Overall a lovely experience. We have always loved the Johnny Carino's at Southpark Meadows, but then stopped going because it got really dirty, dingy and the service was just bad. We went back recently because we had a coupon and it's nice, clean and beautiful once again. We had the nicest, sweetest server, named Jonathan, who was very attentive and helpful. Kyle boxed up our food at the end. He was kind and provided us with excellent service. We left really happy and satisfied with the food, cleanliness of the restaurant and the excellent service we received. We will definitely keep going back again. It's in good hands again, with excellent servers and excellent service. Thank you so much to Kyle and Jonathan at the Southpark Meadows location! We really enjoyed our dinner and visit. read more

This place has gone so downhill. Last time we went to one was in San Marcos. If it was anything like this one no wonder it closed. I went for birthday dinner. They sat us at table in bar when so many other tables were open. The service was terrible. Took forever to get our drinks/ somebody told us in terrible English sorry for wait he's busy. We finally got drinks/ my wife rum and coke and I a specialty margarita. After a few sips of Rita, I notice black spot in glass. Fish it out and it's fruit fly or gnat. Take your pick. I ask for mgr. it takes him forever to talk to us!! They say he's busy!!!! I have bug on my finger till he arrives-20min later. He takes bug and acts like no big deal. He then smiles at me like he's laughing. I exchanged a few words and we left. I will be calling health dept and getting in touch with corporate. I read they claimed bankruptcy now I no why. Terrible experience. Went to Tx Roadhouse in same center waited 15 min. Great service, great food, bug free drink and mgr walking around checking on people and clearing tables etc. and they wer packed. Not only 5 tables like Carinos. Stay away from this carinos. I'm really not sure why they only have 3 stars. I think they did a great job and they were short staffed at that. When we first entered it did take a bit for them to get to the front but they were apologetic and explained. Have some patience people! These days, lots of places have a shortage of staff but this team delivered. As soon as they sat us they told us who would be our server and it didn't take them long to ask us what we would like to drink and if we wanted appetizers. The booth they sat us in was clean and the person running the floor was on it. She was everywhere and our server did an excellent job with a smile. The food was delicious, fresh and no mistakes. I had the lasagna, hubby had the lobster ravioli and mami had the shrimp scampi. My lasagna was really good with lots of flavor. It was a good size and couldn't finish it but thats ok because pasta taste great reheated. lol hubby and mom enjoyed their meal as well. I also tried the orange tea and it was pretty good. I had to add some water because it was too see for me but thats about it. Almost forgot we had the appetizer sampler and they were really good. It was the calamari, mozz sticks, and these nachos with airy chips that took it to the next level. I will definitely visit again and try something new as well. First I thought about giving Johnny Carino's 3 stars because it has been decent in the past. Today I went because I received an email about their .39 cent wing special on Thursdays. I ordered two dozen for me and a friend. The wings are plain unless you pay additional for sauces or rubs. They arrived 12 to a plate. Overcooked so the meat was dry and tasteless. A little salt and pepper might have helped some. I did use Tabasco sauce to try to liven them up a bit. My friend used a little ranch dressing. Service was good and beers were cold and cheap. Tried this place when I moved to Austin, 6 yrs ago. Never went back. I received a free meal "bag" in the mail and decided to give them another try (for free). The free meal was a very small sample of Alfredo, lasagna and ribeye. But I expected small for free. That's ok. The bread was good. The olive oil dip was boring. The Alfredo was tasteless. Awful. The ribeye was ok. Not seasoned but that can be fixed with a little salt. I haven't tried the lasagna. I'm not expecting much, but if I'm pleasantly surprised, I'll edit this review. Besides the food, there was not enough help so service was spotty and the salt and pepper mills were downright gross. Greasy and dried on crud. Two strikes and you're out. Unsure if the Johnny Carino's chain is going downhill or if this location just isn't performing up to spec. We came for my birthday. It used to be a favorite birthday spot of mine 10-15 years ago, so I was excited to be going again finally. We tried to call ahead because it was Friday night and weren't sure if a reservation would be good, but no one ever picked up the phone. Ummm... Thankfully there was plenty of seating even at 6pm when we arrived, so we got our choice of booth seating. It was a little chilly inside so I ran out to get my coat out of the car. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, so kudos to her for doing her job well. She was also happy to mix me up a half-and-half Dr. Pepper/Blackberry Italian soda. It's one of the reasons I like Johnny Carino's to begin with. Though I was never offered a refill. :( I got my favorite dish, the chicken scallopini. The price is higher than I remember (perhaps not surprising with inflation) but sadly the portion size was also much smaller (only two small chicken portions instead of three). Flavor was great but they skimped on the spaghetti too. Isn't that the cheapest part? Why skimp on pasta at an Italian restaurant?? And the dipping oil for the bread was missing those yummy morsels of toasted garlic too. Sadness... Well anyway I'd been planning to "be nice" and still give this place four stars until I found out they don't do anything at all for birthdays. No small dessert or song or anything. What a letdown. The food was good, but service was abysmal. The place was less than half full on a Friday night, which is unusual for any restaurant at Southpark. We soon found out why. We waited about 10 minutes before a waiter came with menus. Took a further 10 minutes for him to ask us what we wanted to drink and bring bread. We ate bread for a very long time (they didn't bring us more). My dining companion got her dinner a full 10 minutes before I got mine. The waiter forgot I had ordered coffee. Eventually, I got it, and was not offered a refill at any point. Had to ask for the check, as we were being ignored after saying we didn't want dessert. Dinner for two took nearly an hour and a half from being seated to leaving. The people at the next table left because no one came to take their order. They were sitting there with menus and no drinks or bread for at least 15 minutes. Do not recommend. read more

Food was excellent and the bread is to die for! I prefer it to cheesecake factory already. The building is also beautiful, though it was a bit cold I enjoyed the aesthetic. The thing that wowed me the most was the service. Idk why this place has a 2.9 or whatever. This place is 10/10 with service! The staff were super friendly! My server Frank was amazing. He was super kind and gave us all the to-go boxes for our food and drinks that we wanted! He even packed us extra bread and oil.
